We ordered a 16 oz Prime Rib dinner on Mothers Day for pickup. The meal was prepared quickly, and I took it back to our hotel room. It was mostly rare, as we asked, but the meat was really tough, gristly and fatty. Neither one of us were happy with its quality. Mashed potatoes were very creamy and tasted great. The sautéed mushrooms and vegetables were cooked perfectly and they gave us a two tasty pieces of brown bread and honey butter. Curbside service and I was there ahead of time. The food was cold. The baked potato was obviously old and cold. The steak was tough and heavily seasoned. The steak's appearance was a joke. The bread was stale and probably heated up in a microwave, which made it extremely hard. The brownie was burned. I actually had a rotten sour tomato on the house salad. So I had driven 11 hours yesterday with Amarillo marked as my stopping point for the evening. Traffic and such made it a tough day and a longer drive than expected. I was very much looking forward to a nice steak dinner to round off my evening after a long and frustrating day. Fully understanding the hours of the restaurant closing at 10, I walked in at 9:25 and was greeted by a very friendly hostess. I informed her that I would sit at the bar and order quickly, she said there was no rush. When I sat down the bartender was sure to warn me many times that the kitchen was closing soon, and that last call for drinks was coming up too. Funny she said that multiple times but couldn't be bothered to say hello, or ask how I was doing. (I said both to her). The whole vibe was off, I was not able to relax and enjoy my meal, I was made to feel like I was a nuisance, and it really ruined my dinner. The food was good. read more

Solid spot. Steaks cooked perfectly. Drinks were well crafted. Simply based on the dining we would return happily... but this review is really a shout out the kitchen manager Sean and his wait staff. This team had a unique opportunity to show what integrity and just flat out being what a helpful human looks like. Long story short... I left my wallet on the table... while we were in the middle of an interstate trip. Went here last night for an anniversary date with my fiance once we were seated it took 15 minutes before a server even showed up to our table to order drinks. We ordered our food with our drinks and it took another 10-15 minutes before we even got our drinks and an hour fifteen minutes before we got our food and I didn't even receive the loaded mashed potatoes I ordered and on top of that the food was barely even warm. I am an Outback snob when it comes to Outback restaurants. This one definitely measured up. First, our server was extremely attentive to our needs. We had a group of eight with two twin two year olds (say that five times fast!) And my water glass was never empty. I ordered a 6 ounce filet medium rare with french onion soup and sweet potato fries with a side of honey. My steak was cooked perfectly and tasted great. The soup (as always) was delicious. I have eaten at Outback Steakhouse in the past but only in Arizona. The other night was the first time I tried out this location. Man, what a difference. This one was far superior to the one I have gone to in Tempe, Arizona. First, the place smelled great on the outside and just as delicious on the inside unlike another local steakhouse I have been to that always seems to smell like dirty washrags even though their food is fine. I was greeted cheerfully and seated immediately. I purposely picked a Wednesday to go in because of their $9.99 steak special. I have gotten a similar special two or three times at the Arizona location and stopped going there because it was always a disappointment. I could hardly even get my fork to go into it and felt like I was sawing lumber when I tried to cut through it. The steak here was thick and tender and cooked perfectly. It was juicy and easy to chew. My dinner came with a side dish and I decided to get the Caesar salad. The dressing was wonderful, slightly garlicky. The lettuce was nice and crisp. The quantity was neither huge nor tiny but just right. It came with some freshly grated cheese on top which made it wonderful. The dinner also was to come with a beer but I seemed to have a slight communication problem with my server over that. I had already ordered water because I felt funny ordering a beer before I had ordered my dinner since the beer was part of the dinner price. When I went to order the beer he told me it would cost extra. I was confused and let him know. He kept looking down at my glass of water as if since I ordered that, it was considered my drink so that I couldn't get the beer. I persisted in questioning what the beer choices were and told him it was my understanding the dinner came with a beer. He said yes it did but then proceeded to tell me it would cost extra. That was totally confusing. Finally I asked what beer came with the dinner and he named off three beers. The first two were light beers and the third one I couldn't understand what he said. I asked again and still couldn't understand the third choice. I finally asked which beers did they have that were not light and he again told me that would cost extra. At this point I was afraid my experience was not going to be good but finally I ordered a light beer and held my breath till the end of the meal to see if I would get charged extra for it. Thankfully, I didn't. They have an odd way of writing up the receipt. They write up the steak dinner for $7.24 and then ring up the beer for $2.75 as if it's an extra item. Again, confusing. The bottom line, however, was that I had a wonderful meal for just under $11 before tip and even at $13 after tip it was a great deal. I only hope that I remember to go back next Wednesday. If you're in the mood for steak but on a budget as I am, both a senior budget and a travel budget, I highly recommend Outback Steakhouse. I have had steak special dinners at three or four various chain steakhouses in town during my visit to Amarillo and this was by far the best one. And probably the least expensive as well. Update. 10 / 31 / 18. I've probably been here over a dozen times since I've been in Amarillo and enjoyed pretty much all of them with much better service than I had this first time and delicious food every time sometimes the steak is little better than usual and sometimes it's not quite as good as past ones but overall well worth coming back for. However.... I like many things about this restaurant but one thing I don't like is when they ask you if you want an add-on and don't tell you upfront that it's going to cost more. My dinner ended up costing me a couple dollars more than I was expecting since I went for their Wednesday night steak special for $9.99. I'm on both a senior budget and a travel budget so I watch my pennies but still try to tip 20% to be fair. If something is going to cost more I think they should tell you upfront and not try to trick you into spending more money than you intended, like Kristen did the last time I came in. read more

I am driving back to Cali and my first stop from Louisiana is Amarillo, Texas. I checked into my hotel and was hoping to get a nap in, but that didn't work because fam and friends were calling me to make sure I made it safely to my first stop. I have eaten outback several times in California, but stopped eating there because the food didn't taste as good as it used to be. I used the online ordering and I ordered the $14.99 special, which is a full steak dinner. Salad, 6 oz sirloin, baked potato with fixins, steamed veggies and a slice of cheesecake! An awesome deal! I chose curbside pickup (first time using it). I entered my info and pressed that I will pay at the restaurant. I received an email informing me when to pick up my meal. 20 mins later I drive in, walked in the side entrance and was greeted and then assisted by Jordan. What an awesome person! Very friendly, I forgot to order a drink and he specially made a raspberry lemonade for me. He also looked over my order with me to make sure it was correct. Everything went smooth and in and out!
