I had to try it, my wife opted for the Chicken Fried Steak. Many approach the "Hell Burger" with great trepidation, expecting it to be more of a gimmick built strictly on painful, mouth-numbing heat. Instead, it offers a beautifully layered flavor profile. The beef patty with Tabasco and their proprietary "Coyote Hell Sauce," then smothers it in gooey melted cheese, grilled onions, and fresh, vibrant sautéed jalapeños. It arrived on a toasted onion bun, it lands a solid 7 out of 10 on the heat scale. But rather than scorching your palate, it wraps it in a vinegary, spicy, deeply savory warmth. This place also serves up classic, heavy-hitting Texas roadhouse appetizers: Each of these are amazing sides and are worth of mentioning, First the Cheese Fries with Green Chiles, which I had with my burger and my wife had with her Chicken fried steak, it is served on a massive aluminum platter, these fresh-cut fries are heavily blanketed in melted cheese and mild green chiles. They are a mandatory companion to the burgers.  Other appetizers worth of note, are the Texas Red Chili & Green Chili Stew: The thick, hearty green chili stew is packed with meat and mild green peppers, offering a wonderful warming comfort, especially during cool Panhandle days.  and any of the Fried options ranging from baskets of battered fried pickles, garlic mushrooms, and stuffed jalapeños. Because everything is cooked to order and the dining room is incredibly compact, expect a wait during lunch rushes or weekends. Tiny dining room - excellent food and service! Celebrated a birthday here .. the burgers looked great, one of our party had the 12 oz steak and said it was excellent.. and another of our party had the chicken strips and they were the biggest chicken strips I have ever seen! I had the grilled chicken salad .. the chicken was excellent (I did not eat the bowl). Total ticket for 2 burgers, 3 fries, chicken salad, and chicken strips (all drinks were water) was $103. My daughter insisted we stop on here during our way thru Amarillo- so we dropped by today right after they opened. When you walk in, If they have a table available, they will direct you to it, otherwise they will take your last name and tell you to go back outside and wait until they call your name. The menu is fairly straightforward so orders turned around pretty quick and it was a maximum of 20 to 25 minute wait to turn a table. My husband ordered the Hell burger which had the hot sauce on it and I had a grilled chicken sandwich. Both were absolutely fantastic as well as the shoestring fries were very good! Hubs really liked that his burger had a ton of peppers on it as well as the hot sauce so he felt like he was getting his daily vegetable allotment, lol! The service was actually pretty quick again, I believe this is because the menu was super simple and they had a ton of regulars coming in. You can also order to go if you don't want to wait as several people did, and my understanding is the packaging is fantastic so just as good as if you were sitting in the restaurant. The place is super small and there are tons of stuff on the wall so it's an interesting place. Don't let the look of the outside scare you away. The food is really good. It's a typical hole in the wall with vintage decor and maybe 15 tables. We sat right down but by the time we left there were groups waiting outside for a table. The servers were busy and worked quickly. We had a Mushroom Swiss and a California Burger and a basket of fries and onion rings. The burgers are huge and cooked perfectly. Quaint establishment, showed up on a Thursday evening and there was only a couple of tables open. Had a burger bar vibe without tbe drunks. Got the bacon cheese burger on an onion roll with fries. Burger was made fresh and to my desired wellness. (Nice touch). Price was reasonable for what I got. They have a Burger from Hell, maybe next time, but tried the hot sauce. Looked this up for a great new place to eat on a drive through Amarillo. It did not disappoint. Small little place and you wait outside but it was breezy and only had a short wait. Once inside you notice the charm of it all. Dollar bills all over the walls, showing multiple satisfied customers. Two servers/ waitresses working their tails off. They were very polite and patient with all the patrons. Ordered the bacon cheese burgers. All I can say is you better have an appetite, they are half pound patties and piled high with the fixings. Excellent & satisfaction is all I can say. Also for the half & half- fries and onion rings. Hot and freshly made. This is definitely a place to try out. Interesting and the food was well worth the $. Also... and this was a shock to me... best wings in town! Amarillo really suffers a good wings place, so when I tried their wings I was shocked how good they are! No it's not a set for a Stephen King movie. It's a run down relic of days gone by. The joint lost its luster decades ago, but the food is mediocre. Boss lady and I were driving through town and believed all the hype. The joint is small, dirty, and the floors uneven but that's what makes this joint appealing to some. I ordered a chili cheese bacon burger and she a regular cheeseburger. They tasted ok, nothing overwhelming. As some reviewers have commented, their patties are overcooked and dry. If you're from Amarillo, this review is worthless to you because you know all about this local favorite that's been here for years. The only thing that might help is they *now accept credit, and online orders*, it's no longer cash only. If you're passing through, this is the place to stop for an amazing burger. It's in a dive style eatery that was featured on TV (Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives) with a bunch of beers in a wash tub full of ice in the middle of the dining room, and possibly the best burgers in Amarillo, though amazingly they do have some local competition. I recommend the Green Chili burger with grilled mushrooms or the Mushroom burger with Green Chilis. The only difference is the default cheese selection. read more

From when we walked in the door to burgers on our table was 12 mins, making it a delicious but quick pit stop on our 10 hour road trip. Like that's faster than a drive thru these days! As the old story goes, never judge a book by its cover or in this case a place to eat based on its exterior. We are on a road trip and it was time to stop for dinner. We wanted something off the interstate, but not fast food and not taking a long time to since we still had miles to drive. My husband wasn't so sure about my selection when he pulled into the parking lot. I think he was going to turn around, until he saw the various cars, pick up trucks, local and out of state plates. It's divey looking, but fun decor, nice staff and large portions of yummy burgers & cheesy fries! You could tell there were regulars and visitors and a steady turnover of customers. What a great local burger spot just off i40! We came here at the suggestion of a friend and I will say.... Sooo good! Don't let the outside scare you away. It might look like a flea market meets condemned building but the inside is cozy and unique! As we waited for our food I noticed locals walk in, sit and their beer or drink was in front of them with only a greeting, "how you doing this evening, I was waiting for you to come in". This sound was a signal this spot was going to be great. Our crew ordered burgers, basket of fries and onion rings to share. The fries and onion rings are great.... Make sure to get some ranch... perfect thick and homemade! The burgers are thick juicy (not greasy.... But JUICY)!! The spice on the hell burger was insane and packed full of flavor. I had a the original burger with grilled jalapeños. The spice on those suckers was no joke but so worth the burn on the lips. Others had the bacon burger and hickory burger. We all finished our burgers and walked away stuffed. The price was great for this family of 5, especially after a long day of driving. This place is 500 miles from my home but I've still managed to enjoy it several times. Don't let the exterior scare you off. The folks there do not disappoint.
