My daughter insisted we stop on here during our way thru Amarillo- so we dropped by today right after they opened. When you walk in, If they have a table available, they will direct you to it, otherwise they will take your last name and tell you to go back outside and wait until they call your name. The menu is fairly straightforward so orders turned around pretty quick and it was a maximum of 20 to 25 minute wait to turn a table. My husband ordered the Hell burger which had the hot sauce on it and I had a grilled chicken sandwich. Both were absolutely fantastic as well as the shoestring fries were very good! Hubs really liked that his burger had a ton of peppers on it as well as the hot sauce so he felt like he was getting his daily vegetable allotment, lol! The service was actually pretty quick again, I believe this is because the menu was super simple and they had a ton of regulars coming in. You can also order to go if you don't want to wait as several people did, and my understanding is the packaging is fantastic so just as good as if you were sitting in the restaurant. The place is super small and there are tons of stuff on the wall so it's an interesting place. Service was friendly and efficient and now we can check this one off our checklist that we have been here when driving through Amarillo!

Don't let the look of the outside scare you away. The food is really good. It's a typical hole in the wall with vintage decor and maybe 15 tables. We sat right down but by the time we left there were groups waiting outside for a table. The servers were busy and worked quickly. We had a Mushroom Swiss and a California Burger and a basket of fries and onion rings. The burgers are huge and cooked perfectly. Don't wear your nice clothes because these are drippy, messy burgers and that's what makes them so good. The fries are fresh cut and seasoned well. The onion rings were also really good.

Quaint establishment, showed up on a Thursday evening and there was only a couple of tables open. Had a burger bar vibe without tbe drunks. Got the bacon cheese burger on an onion roll with fries. Burger was made fresh and to my desired wellness. (Nice touch). Price was reasonable for what I got. They have a Burger from Hell, maybe next time, but tried the hot sauce. It was spicy but still had a flavor. Good for Fry dipping. Will be back

Grilled Chicken Salad

Tiny dining room - excellent food and service! Celebrated a birthday here .. the burgers looked great, one of our party had the 12 oz steak and said it was excellent.. and another of our party had the chicken strips and they were the biggest chicken strips I have ever seen! I had the grilled chicken salad .. the chicken was excellent (I did not eat the bowl). Total ticket for 2 burgers, 3 fries, chicken salad, and chicken strips (all drinks were water) was $103. We will definitely come here again!

My favorite burgers hands down. Whenever I visit Amarillo I make a point to stop here at least once. I eat a wide variety of foods from all over and yet there's something about a burger from Coyote Bluff that just hits the spot. It's an appropriately rustic dinning area with a distinct if not unassuming exterior. Come here is your in the mood for burgers. You won't regret it!

No it's not a set for a Stephen King movie. It's a run down relic of days gone by. The joint lost its luster decades ago, but the food is mediocre. Boss lady and I were driving through town and believed all the hype. The joint is small, dirty, and the floors uneven but that's what makes this joint appealing to some. I ordered a chili cheese bacon burger and she a regular cheeseburger. They tasted ok, nothing overwhelming. As some reviewers have commented, their patties are overcooked and dry. The fries and onion rings were good. One and done. There are better burger joints to visit.

Coyote bluff Cafe is not fine dining, but you can't get a better meal in Amarillo! This " hole in the wall" definitely delivers! My husband and I just finished feasting on a phenomenal California burger & a chili dog with onions and fried Jalapeño, along with a side of onion rings, and fries. Oh my Gosh! I can't actually pick my favorite be use they all came out steaming hot & perfectly prepared. Also, the portions were so generous. This. You gotta try it!

Unfortunately, Kay accidentally left her purse behind, and we didn't realize it until we were well on our way home to the DFW area. The staff had found and secured it, and Nick at Six Car went above and beyond to help us get it back. He packaged it and took care of getting it shipped through FedEx after I sent him a prepaid label. When the purse arrived safely, we discovered that they had even included a Six Car T-shirt, mug, bandana, and stickers as a surprise. That's the kind of customer service and hospitality you remember. We're very grateful to Nick and the Six Car team. Good food and good people--Six Car will definitely be on our list the next time we're in Amarillo.

Great dive Update: Passed through Amarillo again and couldn't leave without stopping by Polly's. Got a T-Shirt this time around, specially delivered from the back store room. Come in, swing by the cigarette machine before you find your way to a creaky leather chair and let the years begin to wind backward. Drink after drink winding the hands of the clock further and further back while Don Henley drips through the old wall mounted speakers like sap from an old tree. We were trying to find something fun to do on a Wednesday night, so we called ahead and asked if anything was going on. They told us that, for the first time, they were doing online Jeopardy that night. We figured, why not?! We went over, started playing, and ended up hanging out and playing all night. Such a fun way to spend an evening on our Route 66 road trip! We also ordered the large Italian sub toasted and split it between the two of us. It was plenty of food for us and really good! The bread was soft and delicious, even toasted, and most importantly, it didn't tear up the roof of your mouth. Definitely a great choice to share! The bar itself has a really cool, nostalgic, laid-back feel with license plates, galvanized metal, foosball, a fun billboard-style table, and lots of little things to look at. They also have a HUGE variety of drinks. Tons of beers, ciders, Route 66 sodas, and plenty of other options, so there really seemed to be something for everyone. The bartender was great, the whole family was incredibly friendly, and the overall vibe was just welcoming and fun. I also have to mention that the bathrooms were super clean! Always a big plus, especially when you're on a long road trip. We love finding unexpected local places like this along Route 66, and this was definitely one of those stops. Good food, great drinks, fun atmosphere, good people, and a really enjoyable night in Amarillo. So glad we found it!

We had to stop at the Big Texan while traveling Route 66 through Amarillo!…read more Our original plan was to come for dinner. I tried getting a reservation just a few hours before we arrived, but there was nothing available, and I wasn't able to get anyone on the phone. Once we drove past that evening, we understood why, the place was absolutely PACKED! I had seen that waits can sometimes reach 1-1.5 hours. That said, if you do have to wait, this is probably one of the better places to do it because there is SO much randomness to explore. Between the gift shop, Western décor, photo ops, and everything else going on, you could easily entertain yourself for an hour. We changed plans and made a reservation for 9 AM the next morning instead, and I'm actually really glad we did! On a Thursday morning it was quiet and relaxed, and we basically had our pick of all the goofy photo opportunities without fighting the dinner crowds. We shared the steak and eggs, and it was a perfect breakfast for two. The steak was seasoned perfectly and cooked really well. The entire place is exactly what you hope for from an over-the-top Texas Route 66 roadside stop: rustic, quirky, cow prints everywhere, a big gift shop, and lots to look at. We also discovered a whole crew of cats hanging around outside near the patio in the morning, which was an unexpected and entertaining bonus. One disappointment for us as Route 66 souvenir collectors: they have TWO penny press machines, but unfortunately BOTH were out of order when we visited. We were so sad! Overall, going at 9 AM turned out to be a great move. You still get the full Big Texan experience, but with way fewer people and plenty of time for pictures. Definitely one of those classic, quirky Route 66 stops you have to experience at least once!

The server was not great as well, they would help us and then disappear for a period of time before coming to check. Overall, it would be a really amazing place if the food and service were A1, but unfortunately the only good thing about this place is the cool appearance.

Worst instance now making me leave this review...and not coming back. Started off just standing waiting to be seated, not even in the door because of a group of people. Said they were a big party made sense why it may be hard to get in. Should of just left then. Lackluster attention from staff for everyone that came in after that group. Saw one couple even immediately be seated though after waiting 20 min with 3 people ahead of us and another group behind. (Happened to know the waitress apparently) Saw one table just up and leave due to being ignored and waiting on ticket to the point they left some cash and up and left in a very bad mood. Got told multiple times a 10-15 min wait due to tables needing cleaned off. There were 4 open tops that were empty throughout restaurant, the whole time and then another 3 opened up while waiting. Then was told 20-30 min wait due to the kitchen being backed up. At that point we just up and left combined with the VIP treatment of people being able to skip ahead of not 1 or 2 but 4 other groups of only 2 to 4 people with at least 5 or 6 open tables. I don't leave reviews often and do for great experiences and bad experiences this was one of the worst. The waitresses were clueless high school or 20 somethings not wanting to actively work and instead argue over whose fault it was a table left or why people would have their name written down and instead would leave due to the treatment of even just being seated, but somehow it's the kitchens fualt. 10/10 do not recommend and don't bother.
