I couldn't even eat it. I picked out the little pieces of shrimp and the little pieces of sausage ate that. Thank God, I had a salad and four biscuits.... If that's the simplest of things to cook rice I'm not gonna trust them for anything else.... Considering that I went the night after Valentine's Day and they were out of their biscuits My date and I still had an amazing experience. I ordered the teriyaki lobster and the main lobster tail with a side salad and the Brussels sprouts and it was all amazing. I ordered the pinot noir And the Cabernet savignon Both were amazing. My waitress was very nice and friendly And her service was impeccable.. The bathrooms were very clean . The restaurant was a little cold but we were sitting next to the window.. First, the server was nice. We both ordered the 3 shrimp "spend less" entree. The linguine was lukewarm, barely warm enough to eat. Asked for tartar sauce for both of us and only got one. My partner wanted a loaded baked potato instead of the fries. We were told they weren't supposed to substitute, but she would for us. Then he didn't get the potato until after he finished his meal. I remember when going to Red Lobster was a fancy night out, but it's gotten to be just like another fast food restaurant. The restaurant has not been updated in I can't tell you how long. The Lobster water cage is just that still cloudy water, glass still just not clean looking, it is so old and etched. Still have the same very small tiny frozen Shrimp. I had starter Shrimp Scampi, not quite half of the shrimp were firm and fresh, the other half was almost mushy! Sent it back. Told them no redo. Got the Ultimate sea food dish to split with hubby. Only half of it was done all the way thru cooked! No wonder Red Lobster is rock bottom. We ate at the Red Lobster restaurant at 3311 I-40 W today. We had eaten there before some years ago. During that visit we weren't made to feel welcome, the service was lousy, and the food was only OK. Although not poor enough to not want to pay our bill, we did elect to avoid this Red Lobster in the future. Today, after many years has pased, we decided to try our local restaurant again. What a huge difference! The staff was glad to see us and made us feel welcome. The service was great! The food was great! We took the time to mention this to the manager. I am so sorry to say that from opening the door, there was a very strong smell of sewer. We went ahead and looked at menu but had to apologize that there was no way That we would be able to eat with the odor. I also explained to manager that we not be able to even order with the smell. He indicated they had been having sewer issues. We used to go there quite a bit because it was good food. I don't blame staff but I would have locked the doors until it was corrected. The service started out good, but the waitress got slower about coming over, the food took a while even though they weren't really busy at all. The food was great, once we finally got it. My husband got the shrimp off the shrimp fest and it took forever to get his refill. Then time to pay the check, the waitress says here is the check and walked off. It was on the kiosk, I was paying cash. So I had to wait longer for her to finally come back over. She said here is your check, I said that would be fine if I was paying with a card. "Oh you need a receipt", well duh. "The better the service the better the tip", yes we left a 20% tip but it would have been much more had the service been better. I ate at Red Lobster Saturday, 3/10/18 and last night, 3/12/18. Was greeted with a warm welcome and seated quickly. LOVED the food. The service was also very good, too. Saturday I had the Petite Red Lobster Roll with a side of creamy lobster mashed potatoes. It was very good. The Roll is definitely petite. If you're ravenous, you better get two of them or include a filling side. The waiter was very attentive, was great about refilling drinks without being asked. Didn't have to ask for anything twice. He was very friendly. Last night I had the new Lobster Truffle Mac and Cheese and it was phenomenal. If you like the taste of truffle, you must get this dish! Loved the creamy-ness of the cheese. The cheese and lobster combined with the truffle made it hard for me not to impolitely wolf down the food. :'D Soooo many mouthwatering flavors in one dish that I'll be ordering it again next time I visit. I certainly hope it will be on the menu permanently. There's an option of a larger portion or a smaller portion. I ordered the smaller portion and got a side caesar salad. I like my salad with a nice balance of dressing and leaves where I can savor both flavors. It came out with about the perfect amount of dressing; I didn't use much of my side of caesar. The side of ceasar came out with my salad. I didn't have to ask for it two or three times. My server was very attentive. Made sure to ask how my meal was and if I needed anything. I also had a couple of their Chocolate Martinis and thought they were pretty good. I'd recommend trying it (even though no other martini can top Butler's Birthday Cake martini, in my opinion). The only slight bummer about Red Lobster is, depending on what you order, it can be a bit pricey but, trust me, it's worth it. Had christmas here party of 10 the food was above par. Service was great for it being a holiday. Mozzarella sticks great, mushroom appetizer was good also but I recommend the dragon shrimp so tasty. Yes, I know - I'm reviewing a chain restaurant. And an OLD chain restaurant at that! This is Amarillo, though, and there's not a whole lot of seafood to be found here. Red Lobster is probably one of 3 restaurants that specializes in seafood. Came here for a friend's birthday. No, we didn't come here because we loved Red Lobster, we came because when he was a little kid his parents used to take him there for his birthday. So we thought it'd be nice to re-ignite the tradition. After dinner, I started thinking maybe we should start a new tradition at a better restaurant. I honestly hadn't eaten at Red Lobster since I was like, 13 years old - more than a decade ago. I remember having fond memories. The cheddar biscuits, the many variations on shrimp, the colorful sea shanty decor - Red Lobster was pretty awesome when I was a kid. Nothing's changed at Red Lobster since then, but I sure have changed. The cheddar biscuits were still good and probably the highlight of our evening. We just kept plowing through these biscuits and had to get refill after refill. For an appetizer, we started with the "Lobster Pizza" ($9), which is a thin-crust pizza topped with lobster meat, mozzarella, tomatoes and basil. To be honest, I didn't taste ANY lobster. I think I saw some, but it could've been anything since it didn't taste like anything. Too bad you can't order this pizza without the lobster and pay half of the price. For my entree, I got the "Ultimate Feast" ($23) - a Maine lobster tail, snow crab legs, garlic shrimp scampi and some fried shrimp. It sounded good when I ordered it, but once I actually saw it, I started to think I was getting ripped off. First of all, the lobster tail was TINY. After cooked, the actual meat was probably about 2oz. No joke. The crab legs were of the pre-cooked variety and were reheated so the brine they were shipped in was the pre-dominant flavor. Shrimp scampi is pointless without pasta. How do you eat this? And the fried shrimp.. was.. well, fried shrimp. You could buy these at any supermarket and deep fry them yourself. It can be pretty eye-opening when you revisit a place you used to love as a kid. Have I become a huge food snob? Or are my taste buds just all "grown up" now? Only problem was that Pepsi products replaced Coke and corporate hadn't updated the system. Well this very nice manager gave me a reward.. a slice of my favorite key lime pie. Why I Normally Avoid Red Lobster Like The Plague: 1. In my home corner of NJ, Red Lobster gives bad service a bad name. Wait staff loaded with attitude, orders not sent to the kitchen correctly (if at all), service taking forever, food baking way too long under heat lamps while servers are singing, dancing, etc. You get the idea, I'm sure. 2. Red Lobster has an uncanny, and unfailing, ability to translate appealing advertising narratives, desirable ingredients and an implied New England coastal vibe into poorly seasoned and unsatisfying mediocrity. It takes a special talent to reduce the succulence of a lobster tail to something resembling a boiled paper towel. 3. Although the plates are loaded, their bulk consists of comically undersized crustaceans and plate garnishes; poor price-value. Why The Amarillo Location Has Seen Me Twice in Recent Weeks: 1. My onsite client work downtown has kept me moving all day, sometimes from 7:30am to 9:00pm. Perhaps being worn-out impeded my judgment . . . twice. More likely is that the Red Lobster is one of the few highway restaurants open until 10:00, and with a perceivable pulse after 9:00. That's it; just one real reason. Why, Just Maybe, The Amarillo Red Lobster Is A Step Above: 1. To my sheer amazement, service was not just "good," it was very good. Respectful, accurate, emotionally engaged, friendly, prompt . . . all of the things that are rarely experienced locally. I swear that I was stone-cold sober, but at times I almost sensed that I was being served by professionals. 2. Perhaps because I wasn't thoroughly antagonized by the time my entrée arrived, the food tasted much better. 3. I wasn't being rushed out the door at 9:50, nor were vacuum cleaners nipping at my heels and creating a disturbing racket. Everyone was smiles and friendliness, even at 9:58. A three-star Yelp review for a Red Lobster is certain to subject me to a sanity check from my wife and friends, but in the case of the Amarillo location, the 1-2 extra stars are deserved. Emboldened by my first few doses of respect for this venerable chain, I even thought about breaking a multi-decade boycott (most of the same reasons) of the Olive Garden property next door . . . it didn't happen. read more
