Wow stumbled upon this place looking for menudo on a Friday and they offered it. Arrived at 2:15p they close at 3p but server sat me down and took my order I got the FLAUTAS w chicken and enchiladas with beef also a bowl of menudo. REVIEW: Menudo was very spicy so be warned but I loved it personally and it was very flavorful had me sweating a bit overall perfect 8.5/10 Beef Enchiladas w Verde sauce was a surprise it showed up with hamburger meat beef but the sauce and flavor and presentation was seriously perfect and the combo just went with each other 10/10 seriously and I am very picky about enchiladas. Flautas w chicken were a bit skimpy on meat but once again the texture and flavor and presentation was absolutely on point so do not judge a book by its cover until you eat the book they were a surprise 10/10 for me and came with real avocado slices. Rice and beans and regular salsa (spicy) are 8/10 I enjoyed them. Horchata was decent 6/10 very flavorful but the fountain soda was absolutely horrible I hated it 1/10 it tasted foul. We had the machaca plate. The frijoles were good. The machaca was very tasty and the potatoes with green peppers and tomatoes was perfect for this Idaho girl. :) The tomatoes had a slight roasted flavor that was wonderful. The breakfast burrito was a very nice size. The ham, egg, and cheese was perfect. Salsa would have made it better but my dietary restrictions would not allow it today. :( Overall I wish we lived closer. read more

Disappointingly, I've had much better. I really wanted to like this place. I was actually headed for another place but it turned out to be closed today so I took it as a good opportunity to try Jacobos. I was hoping to get breakfast tacos but evidently they don't have them. They're located in a strip mall on Olsen Street just east of Western, same shopping center as Olsen Beauty Supply. You don't realize from the outside how big it's going to be on the inside. I was seated fairly quickly and given a menu. When I skimmed it I didn't see breakfast tacos but I made a second choice just in case. A man came over to take my order and when I asked him about the breakfast tacos he said you can get anything you want. I thought good and asked if I could have the tacos with eggs in them instead of meat. He gave me a funny look and said no. So much for ordering whatever I want. I decided to get the Eric Burrito which was supposed to be fajita inside a burrito including sour cream and avocado. Sounded pretty good. They were quite busy so I figured a lot of people must like the place. I thought it said there would be rice and beans on the side but obviously the plate didn't have any when it arrived. I eventually figured out the rice and beans were on the inside, mostly rice on one half and beans on the other, not spread very evenly. There was some lettuce and tomatoes on the side of the plate but the lettuce was disappointingly wilted, not fresh at all like most places I've been to. I gave the burrito a dubious look because it didn't look very sturdy and sure enough when I tried to pick it up the end started popping open. I decided to cut it in half and try again but it fell apart in my fingers before I could take the first bite. Not a good start. The meat inside had good flavor but was very chewy and grisly and barely lukewarm. With it being so cold out I was looking forward to a hot meal. I found one little spot with sour cream, about half a teaspoonful worth. There were little tiny bits of avocado spread throughout, none of them big enough to taste. The whole burrito was extremely bland. I ended up adding some pepper to it to help it out but I shouldn't have to. I didn't didn't even remember it was supposed to be fajita until just now when I started to type my review. What was inside it didn't taste like fajita to me, it just tasted like a burrito full of ingredients that were all mixed up so that you could barely taste any individual flavors. I will say that it was a good size but I had to eat it with my Fork and the flour tortilla was so flimsy I could cut through it with my Fork easily so no wonder it broke apart in my fingers. Oh and they don't give you any chips when you sit down like most places do. Ironically it seems like the more expensive the place is the less likely they are to give you free chips. Go figure. I had just had some dynamite chips at the new place over by Cash Saver a couple days before so I missed being able to munch on some while I waited for my meal. The burrito was $7.99 and I guess it was worth it although I wouldn't order it again. There was no salsa at all. In all fairness the girl did ask me if I wanted salsa when she brought the burrito but I guess I assumed it would be spicy enough without so I said no thank you. Which reminds me, after my food was brought I never saw another person or heard from anyone for the rest of my meal until I was done and waiting for my ticket to be presented. I didn't realize there were people waiting for a table since you can't see the front door from where I was sitting. The man who had taken my order told me I could pay at the front counter so I immediately got up and went there. I didn't leave a tip because I didn't actually receive any service. I usually leave 20% unless the service doesn't warrant it. Like I said, the place was crowded so it's evidently a local favorite. I'm not going to discourage you from going there. I can only speak on my own experience which wasn't that great. read more

Clean restaurant with polite staff. Only patrons in the restaurant so the service was not terrible. Unfortunately, it is never a good sign to hear your food being microwaved as you sit and wait. Food was delivered to the table within a few minutes of ordering. Rice and beans were definitely microwaved, but had a decent taste. They reminded me of an old microwave Mexican food dinner. The chili relleno was not good at all. It had an awkward taste and was drenched in liquid that appeared to be from the dozen or so slices of onion and tomato on top of it. The salad garnish was brown and appeared to be quite old. Next time, let's not microwave everything. Hopefully the other food is better. read more

Very clean place and smell great. I think the review from Susan C is snobby. This place worth visiting. It's good comfort food (American and Mexican) and has excellent pricing. I got Rosa's breakfast. Really like pancakes, sausage was kind of over cooked thought. My friends had coffee and everyone commented how good it is. They also tried veggie omelet and burrito - all plates were finished. And it is open on Sun which is big plus in Amarillo. Staff is excellent! read more

This place is authentic and absolutely delicious. We came here for Sunday brunch, we were sat right away, and got friendly and FAST service. We ordered an omelette and the chilaquiles and they were both hot and fresh. Our coffee cups were never empty. The prices were great. We definitely recommend and will be coming back! read more

The sausage that came with the pancakes were way overcooked, and the house fries undercooked and lacked flavor. Huevos Rancheros was a plate of water. Stopped here for a late bruch. We were greeted by a smiling face, who seated us right away. Our drink order was taken immediately & served while we looked over the large menu. It took us awhile to decide what to order. We ordered the huevos ranchos with eggs over medium and the Erik burrito with no beans, double rice. My other half would rate the huevos as good only because the eggs were slightly under done. The home fries were very good. The refried beans were a little thin. My Erik burrito was great! It was prepared just as I ordered it. The salsa served on the side was spicy but complimented the burrito. We didnt give this cafe a 5 star rating since it took quite a while to get our meals. This is our first time eating here. We usually go to Ye Old Pancake Station but since covid just haven't ate breakfast out as much. The food at Jacobo's breakfast was delicious and fast. Restaurant is not as crowded in as Pancake Station. My husband said the coffee was delicious. We give 5 stars on Biscuit gravy, eggs and crispy bacon (perfectly crisp). I took my kids for breakfast while my husband was attending a conference, around 10 am on a Saturday in October. We stopped here before heading to Palo Duro canyon. There were only a few other patrons and the place is pretty large. The staff (owners?) were really nice and told my 6 year old that if he ate all his food they wouldn't charge us for his order--which they fulfilled. I left a nice tip to make up for it. I had a typical bacon and eggs with hash browns and my daughter and I shared a pancake. The eggs and bacon were good, but the hash browns were cooked in some sort of weird oil that even turned them a little yellow--I sort of wonder now if maybe egg yolk didn't get mixed up in them. Anyway, they were super saturated in grease and I couldn't eat them all--just a strange flavor. BUT, despite the weird hash browns, I thought this place was great. Gave this place a try since we're always looking for a good breakfast place in Amarillo without having to wait 30-40 minutes for a table. The food was really really good and the service was awesome! The owner came by several times to check on us. The kids pancake platter came shaped like Mickey Mouse, so cute! I had the veggie omelet that was cooked just right and perfect. My husband had the pork chops and egg plate. The pork chops weren't the cheap ones either. He said they were delicious. Their lunch and dinner menu looked really good too, can't wait to try it. This is a hidden gem. The Owner and Wait Staff are top notch on top of the fact the food is delicious. You can order breakfast any time of the day which I love. We passed through on our road trip and since no other burger places were open on Sunday and this place was open we stopped in. We had been on the road a long time so our brains weren't working right. So on that note I'll talk about the food. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger. It was dry and over cooked, but I ended up giving g it to my husband and son because they couldn't eat their own food since it was too spicy. My dh ordered the Chipotle brisket burrito not fully expecting it to be so spicy (we had been on the road a long time so our brains were mush). He took one bite and declared it was too spicy. I like hot stuff and can tolerate a lot but that was really spicy! Good but spicy. My 4yr old got chicken strips and french fried and fully enjoyed them but my 7yr old has an adults apitite and ordered the beef tacos. He took a bite and they were too spicy for him so I has to eat them and traded for my burger. The food way very good but I wish the server would have said something about the heat like most places do. The reason for only 3 stars is my burger was super dry and it would have been better if they mentioned how spicy the food was. read more

My parents and I stopped by here for breakfast since I saw the review were pretty good. The staff was friendly and service was good, but sadly the food was not up to what I read. I ordered biscuits and gravy with sausage. The gravy tasted like it was packaged and then precooked sausage added to it. Needless to say most of it just sat on my plate. I then proceeded to eat off of my parents plate. My dad ordered the breakfast burrito. Now that was not bad. So then It was time to try out my moms dish. Had all my favorite classic American breakfast dishes in large portions, lot of different salads and burgers and alot of great priced mexican lunch plates. I ordered a simple taco plate and got freshly cooked juicily seasoned chicken on 3 soft tacos that were loaded with your classic taco vegies with 2 sides of freshley made mexican rice and refried beans that tasted like real home made mexican food for a modest 8.00$ while the other members of my party bought a loaded omelet that took up half the plate with a huge helping of hash browns.
