The food is great. Everything was made to perfection. Probably the only issue was some of the service. When we first came in the welcome staff were gossiping about the employees working too slowly. Seem like we were working with bunch of middle schoolers. Those issues shouldn't be public, and one shouldn't gossip anyway. Aspen Creek Grill is one of several steakhouses in the Amarillo area. I picked it because it was near our hotel, had good ratings and not wait. They have what looks like an extensive wine and beer list. My husband found a dark beer with no coffee in it, so he was happy. But was later disappointed. I was happy because it was 1/2 wine night and they had Moscato, the fruit punch of wine! Warning, it is really on the sweet side. Good service. Portions are reasonable. The peach "cobbler" is more of a pie, but was very good. The broccoli was very good. The green beans are Southern style (cooked to mushy submission). Staying in Amarillo for the night after a long day of driving. Wanted to try this place because it's something not available to us where we live. Would give 0 out of 5 stars if I could. We sat for at least 10 minutes without a server greeting us or taking our drink order. I could see at minimum six employees standing around, standing around on their phones, showing customers things on their phones. My husband and I got up and walked out. The manager on duty followed us out because I'd left my eyeglasses case on the table, which I greatly appreciated. She asked why we'd left, explained that they were coming off of a rush, and that many of the staff were in the back recovering said rush. That was not true. This was a good restaurant. The waiter was very attentive. The manager even came over and asked us how our meal was. The atmosphere was pleasant and quiet enough for my husband and I to hear each other when we talked. My husband and I both had the 12 ounce ribeye and they were juicy, tender and cooked the way we asked. We both had a loaded baked potato and it was nicely done and well loaded. I had a side salad with ranch and it was very fresh and tasty. My husband had the broccoli and it was tasty and well cooked. I asked for a lemon drop martini. It was not on the drink menu. The waiter was very helpful and showed me a blueberry martini which I declined. He said the bartender could probably make a usual lemon drop martini because she was very good. I've been looking for a replacement, and for a sandwich that shouldn't be that hard to make, it seems that few restaurants can do it well. This is one of the few that can! My experience here was quite underwhelming. The food was simply decent however the customer service was completely deplorable. Zero accountability. Hey Juan you can't work the "takeout" counter from in the kitchen but why were you in the kitchen goofying around ? How do you fall behind 3 to go orders when the restaurant is completely empty? What value do you add to the company ? Their staff is compromised of younger workers who stand around and walk off in the back portion of the kitchen or they stand by the bar and literally do nothing. Management must be a joke. Dirty entryways and unclean tables ... inappropriate conversations I had to hear from workers who weren't working ... Easily an establishment I will never patronize again. The attention to details are lacking but more importantly the goal of providing adequate customer service is not a priority. read more

First time visit, great experience, was greeted at the front door by two employees holding them open! Sitted at a nice clean booth & welcomed by Dutch, our server. He was a professional waiter and exceeded all our needs. Observed Natalie, the manager training and coordinating employees in a helpful and respectful manner, she also greeted us and gave us a complimentary free appetizer card for our next visit. THIS visit was not good. My Monte Cristo was overcooked in old grease to the point it was almost inedible. I mentioned this to the waiter when he asked how everything was and his response was "sorry" and he walked away. I ended up removing most of the bread and just ate the contents. This review pains me to write. The menu is similar to InterUrban out of the OKC area, which attracted me. We arrived at 8pm on a Sunday when they close at 9. I called ahead and they said they had a short wait 10-15 mins which was exciting because we were hungry. We arrived and the restaurant was half full. The hostess asked us to wait 10 minutes so she could get us a clean table. When a restaurant appears not busy but you have to wait with a smaller party, the reason is often that servers have been sent home, so there's no one assigned to those empty tables. That said, the wait was short for a table. We ordered quickly as we were very hungry. We had simple orders but the food took an absurdly long time. Then we saw the family that ordered after us get their meals, then a couple again after them get their meals. They checked on our orders in between but weren't quite ready. By the time we got our food almost an hour after we sat down, my husband's and my protein (chicken) was room temperature though his sides were hot. My kids' food was also room temperature but they needed to eat. My plate took 10 minutes to come back from the microwave (it was the same chicken) but my husband's was no where in sight. We waited another 5 minutes to get it back and it was tough and gross. I ended up sharing my chicken (which was fine) with him and he left his on the plate which they kindly refunded. On the upside or weird side, the bathrooms were fun. I've added a picture because they were that amusing. Two stars because our server tried so hard and we were sat quickly. read more
