First time ever trying Long John Silver's! We happened to be in Amarillo, Texas, where this location just opened about a month ago. The drive-through line was very long for a Monday evening so we decided to dine in. Wait was not that bad at all. We ordered the fish and chicken platter with coleslaw and corn. It came with one piece of fried fish, one piece of chicken, two hush puppies, and lots of popcorn shrimp, all for $13 something. Since we wanted to share for a first taste, it was perfect to start--but the fish was so good that I ended up ordering another plate with extra fish. It's all about the nostalgia. Fish was fresh. Chicken was fresh. Josh puppies were great! Crunchies are a must Service was ok. When going through the drive through be sure to check your order. Ours would have been way better with tartar sauce and ketchup! read more

The line is still long. We didn't go inside, only ordered through the drive thru. Our fish and hush puppies were good. Shrimp was a little salty. Crab cakes were the best out of all the things we tried. read more

I Spent 17$ On A Fish And Chicken Platter And Only Got One Fish And Two Little Chicken Tenders FOR 17$!!!! HORRENDOUS!!!!

Food was extremely greasy. Piece of fish had rock hard fried breading and barely any fish inside. They forgot my coleslaw on my takeout order. I felt sick afterwards! All the drivers were stopped haphazardly all over the parking lot so no one could get through to enter or exit the small lot. Get in a uniform line for the drive thru! Total mayhem! You couldn't even exit your parking spot to leave. Then I had to stand inside like an idiot and wait for an employee to pass by me in order to get my takeout order behind a glass container. I had to flag down an employee and show her my order number, could not use my first and last name. There was only ONE cashier with a very long line in the evening. Haven't been in years and now I remember why. Food and service was horrible! Never will return! Do not recommend going here! read more

Being a huge fan of LJS, I decided to stop at the new location in Amarillo on Bell. What a disapointment!! Once inside I was able to place my order.. clerk very unfriendly. My first observation was "CHAOS". Was there even a manager running things here? After waiting 19 minutes, I received my order. When I got to my car and opened the bag, I discovered that the majority of my food was lukewarm or even cold. The hottest thing in the bag was the hush puppies I was thinking that wouldn't have been the case with the number of people working in the back, but I figured out what must be the problem. The side where food was being cooked was very busy and seemed organized but the side that was filling the orders was the opposite. Seemed like several were standing around "waiting for something" while others were very busy! That is where my question came from about who was managing the chaos. The lobby was packed and there was a line going through the parking lot and out on to Bell going through the drive thru. The clerks at the counter would call the customers name, not very loudly and leave the food on the counter. There was an older woman with a long braid who seemed to care that orders were getting out but she seemed to be the only one. Again, very disappointed at this location and I am questioning if I will come back in the future. Maybe when they have lost customers due to poor service and condition of food quality. It was obvious to me they were overwhelmed with too much business and lack of management. Everytime I have gone to the LJS in Clovis N.M. , food had been hot and service excellent. I will not let this experience tarnish my opinion of LJS. Very sad for a new business in Amarillo though.. read more

If there is a way to screw up fried food....this location did it!! Waited a few minutes for the car in front of me and was totally entertained watching the cars that were parked in the parking lot try to exit their parking spots....there is no lane set aside for cars to leave the parking lot. Food ordered was a two piece fish with 6 shrimp platter, fries, corn and two hush puppies....I received two soggy/greasy squares smaller than my palm that resembled fried fish - didn't eat them. And the shrimp were covered in batter to the point that I couldn't find the tail - peeled the coating off and ate two - they were rubbery and cold. The hush puppies and corn were good.....but the waffle fries were needing about two more minutes in the fryer!!! They forgot my tartar sauce - was excited to try it.....ohhh well - I won't return now that I experienced the greasy, over battered food along with the blah service. Will eat seafood when I am visiting coastal cities where they are experts cooking all seafood regardless if it's fast food or sit down. Another chain restaurant that is failing Amarillo! read more

Too greasy! The waffle fries tasted like spoiled old grease. The corn was frozen and not cooked. We will never go back.

GREASY GREASY FOOD!!!!! I tried this new place twice and each time I found the food to be either overcooked or cooked in oil that was not up to the required temperature which resulted in very greasy food. I wonder if they recooked their food??? Don't eat there unless you take anti grease tablets. The prices are way too high for what you get..... an upset stomach. I noticed the traffic at this restaurant has been considerably reduced. Either people are sick of greasy food or the newness has worn off. read more

It's obvious Amarillo doesn't eat fresh seafood by the coast, yes I remember the old ljs on western, when the grease was fresh it was pretty good, unfortunately this batter their using is on that hard side. One bite takes me back to days of old. After the first swallow Im reminded why everyone, including myself, quit eating there years ago. Nothing against this specific location, the product just isn't good. Mark my words, this place will be closed within 18 months. It's just what Amarillo does. "Hit it, and quit it" ala KrispyKreme. Be sure and check your order completely, they don't say anything about leaving out things like tarter sauce or condiments and then when you tell them, they are like "oh we are short on them." Then they gave a couple. Ordered once, cod meal. Got 1 cod, 1 chicken, no sides. The people they have working there are sneaky and try to pass things off. Not sure I will eat there again. read more

The long John silvers here in Amarillo it's a great shop to have, but the fish is being cooked either too fast are too high some times the fish Isn't cooked fully nor is the batter, also seems to me the cooks are using to much batter on the fish please! Help, if you go to the long John divers in Lubbock or Clovis both places cook there fish the correct way, but I must say I'm very happy to have longs John's silvers back in Amarillo. read more

Got there when they opened hoping we were gonna get a fresh meal and when we got home with 4 basket meals with fish it was so hard we could not even eat it we attempted picking the brick like crust off too see if we could salvage any of the meal but by the time all the crust was off there wasn't much fish to eat and it was beyond greasy and tasted like old grease was used to fry the fish !!! When we took the food back because the cost of the meal was around 45 $ and was not gonna let this go we were met with attitude very rude and was reluctant to even consider refunding our meals that were not even edible from our perspective so our experience with this restaurant was horrible from the service to the food to the companies compassion to do right by the customer was the most disrespectful thing me and my family have experienced in a long time !! I've eaten there twice now and it's as good as I remember. People giving it bad reviews already apparently don't understand how hard it is when you're opening a new place with brand new staff and you are slammed with nostalga customers. It's brutal! Give them a break. Once things slow down, go back and you'll be better able to gauge the food and service. I have recently eaten at another location in New Mexico and this new Amarillo location is fine. It just needs to have some time to get past the craziness! I plan to go back many times. I keep watching the Uber eats and Door Dash sso I can get it delivered at some point. It's September 15th and they still arn't able to allow deliveries! read more
