Host and server (Joan) were great! As far as I could tell there were only three people staffed including host, and they all worked hard to provide a great experience. I got the beef kabob- it was served hot and fresh on a bed of rice. Salad came out immediately after i ordered, bread was soft and warm, wine glass was full and water never empty. read more

Tuesday 7 pm! Love the deco, love the servers, always on it! Hubs ordered the Tomahawk pork Chop very thick but very small portion. Was good but would love to see last years pork chops back. While traveling through Amarillo we did Uber eats to our Hotel from Red River Steakhouse as Tiki Hubby wanted chicken fried steak (of course). I have to say fresh steak covered with a nice crust and pan fried so very tender and flavorful. Got a nice salad and mashed potatoes with gravy on side since not sure how long delivery would take. Also got a side of green chili hominy. If you dine in comes with free peach cobbler we had to try. Meal comes with a warm loaf of bread. The one meal was more than enough for 2. Uber eats had 40% off so we ate for under $20.00 before tip and had food left over. Not one bad bite was a great home cooked comfort food meal after traveling. This is our first experience going to Red River Steakhouse. I have to say it was a wonderful experience. The restaurant was decorated in western ambience very well done. The music is country western tastefully and perfectly mixed. "Loved the music" The waitress was friendly and very good at her job. Now for the best part when you are seated you are served a hot loaf of fresh bread with a side of butter. We had lemonade in a super large glass , I didn't think I could finish it but it so good I had to drink it all. I ordered catfish sweet potato and a dinner salad. The salad was fresh with fresh lettuce cherry tomato tomatoes cucumber top with lightly shredded cheese. I've had salads at other restaurants and they usually have a taste like it came out of a plastic bag; so I have to give them a 10 on their salad. The catfish was very good three large pieces of fish breaded with corn meal. The sweet potato was oven baked, loved that they gave you plenty of tartar sauce; I usually have to ask for more not this time. My friend ordered the county fried chicken served with real mashed potatoes gravy. If you are looking for a great place to eat i highly recommend Red River Steakhouse. They have Prime Rib on Fridays and different specials each day. We will definitely go back. Trust me this place is worth checking out. First of all, this place knows how to age their steaks! Second, we heard (so, not first hand) that other touristy large texan place uses msg on all of their beef and thus place doesn't. Third, we are seeing lots of locals, a good indicator of quality. Fourth, you get a free cobbler with every meal! Seriously! Josh, our fabulous server and bartender suggested the Shiner Bock on tap and we both loved it! We ordered the 14 oz rib eye dinner with salad and baked sweet potato to split and i ordered an extra wedge salad. OMG! Both salads were really good but the steak. Best ever! The sweet potato comes with sweet cinnamon butter but it's just gilding the lily as the potato is great on its own. They have cherry cobbler tonight ahs it's very good. read more

Steakhouse with good service, delicious food, and fun steakhouse decor. We had a big group and a few orders were quickly fixed when they came out wrong, but everyone was very happy with their food and drinks. The server was very busy, as was the kitchen, but she came by often, answering any questions about the food, updating us on the progress of our order, and constantly refilling our drinks. The appetizer of cheese fries were so good they got devoured in no time. The texas toothpicks were okay (fried onion & jalapeno strips with ranch) and we ate those all pretty quickly too. My rib eye was pretty good and all the sides were decent as well (mashed potatoes, green beans, fries, etc). The green chile hominy that I got was amazing - not at all what I expected, but basically hominy covered in green chile flavored cheese - SO GOOD! The burgers are a good size and have a good flavor to them. The huge margaritas were decent and were quite large, as promised. The complementary peach cobbler was absolutely delicious too. read more

Went to Red River Steakhouse for my father's 93rd birthday. We ordered chicken fried steaks. They tasted like they were made at lunch and served as leftovers. The okra was burnt to a crisp. Yes we would've have told our waitress But she didn't ask ... Oh- and nobody even gave two shakes if it was his birthday or not. Very dissatisfied and won't be back. I directly spoke to her and told her we had 2 in our party....she finally spoke and said "Oh, well there's at least a 30 minute wait." The dining area was less than 1/2 full. She essentially looked away and disengaged from the conversation. She unfortunately needs customer service orientation. We would have loved to try the food but didn't feel welcome to stay. We went here on a Saturday night - food was just ok - I had the prime rib as it was the "special" that night - it was fairly fatty and dry - they were very busy that night so maybe was roasted too long? Not sure but didn't seem "fresh" and juicy like most prime rib. My wife had the Kabobs and she liked hers quite a bit. Our server was very good and checked in us from time to time but not to the point of being annoying. And the bread they serve as a starter is like a mass produced baguette and cold as a stone like what you would get at Walmart - definitely not home made and baked on site like Outback or Longhorn does. I used to go to the McLean Restaurant years ago way before they ventured in Amarillo which I was excited about and when they first opened up here they did well and I was a regular customer. Then they started a Live Music program which was OK until the quality of the singers were only subpar and not only that but for some reason, they had the horrible music so loud you could not carry on a quiet peaceful conversation anywhere in the establishment. One of the reasons I liked to go there is the once quiet atmosphere of semi-Private dining that allowed you to bring guests for that reason alone. However the last visit there I had to just walk out because the music was so loud and so bad. I asked the waiter if they could lower the volume of the speaker system and they denied my requests and said that is just the way they wanted it to be so I just walked out not to ever return unless they stopped the loud "Noise" ! The Service was good and food average but they destroyed the one reason why most used to like to go there ! Too bad for them because I can go to so many other places that do care about customer care ! read more

My favorite thing is the chicken fried steaks it is the best in town. Friendly staff always and I love that they use red bandannas as napkins. You always get a free cobbler with your meal which is a nice bonus and it's tasty! I would give it a 5 star but in he summer hey will freeze you out if you sit in the side addition. There was good and not so great so I'm going to stick to three stars. Mainly, I was disappointed that things were not as I thought they would be when I got there. I had seen a picture of a menu showing their Early Bird Dinner that ended at 6 and had filed it away to stop by here someday. It took me two or three weeks to get here. I arrived between 5:30 and 5:45 p.m. thinking I was just in time. I even mentioned it to the gal who seated me and she didn't say anything to me about it not being the right time. I sat down and looked at my menu. I was considering getting their Margarita which was on special for $2 but ordered water for the time being because one of the first things I noticed was the Lunch/Early Bird Dinner said it ended at 5pm, not 6. If the picture was on Yelp and was outdated, that would not be their fault and I would not blame them for it. I mentioned to the waiter that I meant to come for the Early Bird Dinner and he said he would go check with the manager. He came back and told me they said it was okay. I thought that was really nice. The menu I saw the picture of included a Petite Sirloin which I had figured on getting because it's a steakhouse and I was curious if their steak was good. Unfortunately, they had changed their menu along with the times and the Petite Sirloin was no longer on it. My second choice was the Fried Catfish so I ordered it. The waiter did a fine job and the catfish was delicious. I asked him to recommend a side and he recommended the jalapeno hominy. I liked it a lot. There were two pretty good size pieces of catfish in a really good breading coating and a couple of Hush Puppy type things on the side that were about the size of a couple pieces of classroom chalk. The two together probably wouldn't have made one small muffin. I'm not a big hushpuppy fan but they were good, nice and crunchy. They did have a touch of the fermented flavor that I find so common in biscuits and other items made from a batter, like it sat out at room temperature for longer than it should have. I liked the fact that the dinner included a small cobbler for no extra charge and I loved the cobbler. The waiter said that the prune cobbler was even better. That was hard to imagine. I told him that was probably the best peach cobbler that I've had since I got to town. When he brought the bill I saw that the meal was $10.99. I was expecting it to be $8.99 like I had seen on both the assumedly outdated picture and on their own website which I checked while I was sitting there in the restaurant. It took him a long time to come back and I had not set down my credit card since I wanted to question it before he wisked away the credit card and bill. I nicely said to him that I thought they might have accidentally charged me for the dinner price and he said no that was the right price for the Lunch/Early Dinner. I said okay and went ahead and paid leaving him about 20% tip as usual. On the way out I asked to see a menu and sure enough the catfish Dinner which I thought was going to be $8.99 and which said it was that price on their website, was actually $10.99 which made my meal, that I was expecting to be on the low side to make up for paying a little more for meals the last couple of days, totaling $14. I know that's not a huge amount of money but when you eat out every to every other day then you have to watch your budget. I think the thing that bothered me was the fact that I had seen the price as $8.99 in two different places and therefore wasn't expecting to pay 20% higher than that. Hopefully my math is correct on that. To be honest, I would have saved that place for another afternoon if I had known it was going to be more than the $8.99 advertised. To list a menu item for one price on your website and then charge someone $2 more when they show up at your restaurant seems like false advertising and that's the reason for 3 stars rather than 4. read more

This place is a joke. We arrived 15 minutes ago and nobody has spoken to us since we were seated. The silverware is FILTHY!!! Now our waitress arrived - she is in a BIG rush but very sweet - her name is Sabrina and she'll do just fine. She apologized for the silverware and brought 2 more sets that look as bad as the first. Maybe it's just a crappy dishwasher?? Rolls are OK but cinnamon butter?? No !! Straight salted would be better. Steak (ribeye) was inedible - no comment at all from the server who could not have missed the fact that 99% of it remained on the plate. We had lunch today at Red River Steakhouse. We've only ever seen the commercials on TV for them so we decided to stop in and give them a try. We really liked the ambiance and decor of the restaurant. The menus had a good variety of food to choose from also. We ordered the Patty melt and the ribs/sausage plate. Both were very good but the service was not so much. Our waitress was the only one in the area and she was covering us,3-4 other tables, and a large group in the back. Needless to say we didn't see her much until that large group was fine. After we ordered our food. Another table was sat behind us. Instead of our waitress helping us another women served them which I assume was a manager of some sort. She was an older lady with a Bluetooth headset in her ear. They sat/ordered after us, but they received their food before any of the other tables. I am assuming they were friends with that manager so she bumped them up before everyone else. Unless our waitress didn't put our orders in yet. Needless to say we will be back in the future. The food was very good and the BBQ sauce was so good we bought a bottle to take home. We just hope they get the service part situated. Went for a 5:30 pm dinner and left the restaurant at 7:45 pm. Our table of 6 waited for 20+ minutes to place our orders, and it took an additional 45 minutes for our food to come to our table. Two of our entrees were incorrect, (I.e., chicken fried steak instead of chicken fried chicken) which was an issue due to dietary restrictions. Replacement entrees were then delivered *after* the other members of our party had finished their meals. It was disappointing to wait for so long without food. No apologies were given for the extreme delay, or any type of restitution to address the terrible experience were offered. The food itself was unremarkable and bland. I ordered the grilled chicken on a bed of rice with french fries, with the only discernable seasoning being salt. Overall, I would not order this again. We also tried the chicken fried chicken, which was made fresh due to the incorrect order. The crust of the chicken was piping hot (which was good) but lacked any flavor or seasoning. The chicken was accompanied with white gravy either from a can or dehydrated packet, and was gelatinous and bland. Overall an extreme disappoinment in flavor. For the price and time requirements, I could absolutely not recommend this restaurant. I would rather save time and money and eat fast food, as it would taste infinitely better than the Red River Steakhouse. read more

This review is for this specific visit. Typically we enjoy this restaurant. Tonight, after waiting over 30 minutes for our food, (having been seated 45 minutes, and tables around us that sat down after us were finishing up) we told the server that we would need our food to go, we were out of time. He replied "ok" About 5-10 minutes later the manager showed up with our food packed to go and said "That took awhile." Then said it would still be good reheated. We asked for the check, and while paying, our server finally said, "I'm sorry about that." Super poor and slow service.
