Overall not impressed. The guy working was friendly and poor guy was all alone. I guess I expected for more from an old school burger place. Typically they're the kind of burger places I like to visit. Bun to meat ration was off. Too much bread and a small patty, which was over cooked. Not burned but kinda tough. And only one piece of bacon on a bacon cheeseburger. Onion rings were fine. Could have been crispier. Tater tots (not pictured) were perfect. If I find myself passing through again I'd probably pick something else to eat. read more

This place is an Amarillo landmark. I can't remember how many years it's been here but I've talked to senior citizens that remember coming here when they were young. The food is pretty good. I've been here twice so far, the first time I got a combination meal with tater tots and a burger. Both were surprisingly good. I guess I was expecting food that was more like a fast food place but I shouldn't have. It's all cooked to order, not pre-made. I didn't get to eat as many tater tots as I might have liked because I was sharing them with a lady that looked hungry that was sitting at my table. There is no indoor seating but there are two or three picnic tables pushed together under an awning that you can sit at to eat if you're not taking your food to go. Both times I sat there. The second time I was the only one. The second time I was going to get a burger again but I decided at the last minute to get the steak fingers which I couldn't remember ever having before. It's basically just chicken fried steak cut into pieces but it was really good, crunchy on the outside and not overly salty. The fries were okay but I'm not a big fries fan. The menu said you got a choice but the guy didn't ask me which I wanted and I forgot to specify Tater Tots so I'll have to remember to do that next time. Both times the place was doing a bustling business of takeout orders the whole time I was there. I liked this place well enough to go back and to recommend it to others. And while you're there, if you like thrift stores there's a great one right across the street, America's Best Thrift. read more

Love the people! Love the food! It's an Amarillo hidden gem. Whenever we are in the mood for a yummy burger we head to Beef Burger Barrell.

The cheeseburgers here when I was a child were amazing, but time has not been kind to the Barrel. On recent visit it was a one woman show, with one person taking the orders, cooking the food, collecting the money. It took forever and they weren't even busy! Burgers were average, nothing you would drive across town for. Parking and getting in/out is a chore- be prepared to STEP ON THE GAS as you pull out onto Plains as cars are traveling 50 MPH. Have a more pleasant time and go to KN- not far away and food, service, and parking are much better. read more

The customer service here was excellent. The two guys working there were very friendly. I ordered a chicken sandwich and it had onions but the menu did not note this. In addition the chicken was fried, which I should have asked but I thought it would be grilled since I could see the grill from the window. We also ordered a grilled cheese sandwich and the cheese was not fully melted and the bread wasn't toasted. The double beef burger was what was expected. Absolutely delicious burgers!! I stop here every time I am in Amarillo. Idk what people are talking about when they say it is expensive, I thought it was pretty cheap, and light years ahead of Mc.Donnalds in quality and taste. These are REAL deal old fashioned burgers!!! read more

This place is so good. The hamburgers can not be beat, the price is very affordable. I go there at least once a week because of the proximity to my work, it is consistently good. The guys who run it are very personable. I would recommend this to anyone. I also have an addiction to ice and theirs is wonderful!! read more

I think the beef burger barrel has the best burgers in town! they are fresh made by the order and great to eat! i eat there almost everyday! the workers are polite and the service is great! sure it might take a littel extra time to get that fresh made by the order meal, but ill gladly wait instead of eating microwaved meat like the other fast food joints around town. i would deffinately reccomend eating here! read more
