Saltgrass is a quintessential steakhouse experience. The ambiance was professional while also having fun decor and Western themes. Service was prompt and friendly, never had to wait on anything. The ribeye had a great char flavor and was definitely high quality (tender, very little gristle) + cooked to perfection. The bacon appetizer was also solid, definitely a carnivores dream. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the grilled chicken breast -- tender, and juicy with lots of flavors from the rub. The salad was also fresh and tasty. For a chain the food was really good. The place is popular as well and on a recent Sunday, it was hard to find a seat, other than the bar. The service was friendly, helpful and pleasant. All in all not a bad place. My steak and shrimp came out perfectly cooked. My wife's ribs were good, with meat falling the bone. My smoked mac n cheese was watery and not served hot. They replaced it and the second one was much better. The biggest issue was the manager going into a big story blaming corporate for making things difficult! I don't care. We entered an online order for one ribeye, baked potato (doesn't give you an option for loaded but the picture is a loaded baked potato) and a Caesar Salad. We had to wait about 30 minutes for a table on a Saturday evening for a party of 3. This seemed to be a popular place for travelers and locals. The entree also came with a dinner salad, which was a good sized salad of mixed lettuces and honey mustard dressing. The steak was cooked medium-rare, as I ordered, and was well-seasoned, I.e. pretty salty. It was good, as was the asparagus and salad. Others in our party got the grilled chicken breast with fries and the grilled Atlantic salmon with green beans. They both said their food was good and thought the portions were good-sized, not too huge. The prices were reasonable for portions and food quality. The service was a little slow to start but was generally attentive and friendly. Delicious Fried Pickles app. The light breading was awesome and had a tad spice/some heat - just a tad - and fit the role great; good dill ranch dipping sauce, too! I ordered their Chicken Laredo dish, but the side salad filled me up, so this dish was breakfast the next day. No wait on tables before 6, but after that you are going to want a reservation as the lobby was packed with people looking tired from the wait when i left at 7:00. All in all the steak was good as was dining experience in general. The service was impeccable and I definitely got the impression that everyone cared about my experience there. We tried this "new to us" chain steak house on our way through Amarillo and it did not disappoint! The ribeye steak I ordered was perfectly cooked and properly seasoned. My companion's grilled chicken breast was also cooked perfectly and still juicy and tender. The service was quick and courteous. The food arrived quickly. The ambience is rustic yet elegant and not "fast foody" like Texas Roadhouse. It's definitely a cut above that other national chain steakhouse. I'm glad I canceled our reservation at the Metropolitan to come here instead because our Hyatt Place hotel receptionist said she prefers this place and it was closer to our hotel anyway. Tyler was our server and he was fantastic. He split the Gulf Coast Steak and Shrimp entree that he recommended and also split the side salad. The steak was delicious and the Brussels sprouts were out of this world. They are deep fried with some honey sriracha and so dang good. We stayed in Amarillo, Texas and found Saltgrass Steak House! I'm really glad we came because the service and food were both great. We tried the following: -Pomegranate mojito - this was so delicious & strong -Potato soup - very delicious and the right portion side for a side -Bone in rib eye - by far the BEST rib eye we have ever eaten. Even my son enjoyed it -Ribs with coconut shrimp - the string beans were too salty, but the ribs and shrimp were sooooo good! Maybe my toddler just likes fancy food, but he tried EVERYTHING and LOVED it (minus the string beans). We were so FULL and didn't finish our entire meal, but somehow managed to get dessert.
