Been a while since I have been to Chuys and man has it changed. Ordered curbside as we were staying in hotel next door. Quality of food, edible, not terrible but not what Chuy's is and used to be. I'll let this picture show more than my text. This is the Family Taco Package and the condiments for the tacos. (6) tacos ..... Tablespoon of lettuce and 1/2 tablespoon of tomato's For scale, that dish is the size of a coaster!

Tex-Mex it is, and that's for sure. Almost the best of both countries. The trouble is, I couldn't figure out which country dropped the ball and kept it from being a 5 star rating. It couldn't have been the good ol USA, could it? You be the judge, and let me know. The restaurant is pretty cool inside. There's all kinds of stuff plastered or hung throughout. But your gander better be quick because your server will be on you before you can say "let's eat amigo"! Excellent service is at this establishment. Friendly as can be. The server will keep the conversation short, though. She has more tables to be excellent at. I found the chips and salsa to be adequately satisfying. Combined with a cold beer, it set the tone for what was to come. I'd hoped that my meal would be special and it didn't disappoint. I chose the steak burrito with Hatch Chili's on top. Those chili's are something else! Very flavorful. They made the meal. Here's the rub. The burrito was served with uninspiring rice and beans. Someone wasn't paying attention during side dishes 101. Go eat at Chuy's and enjoy their food. The Tex-Mex is better than s.. Not really, but better than first base. Quick Tip: The restaurant is kind of hard to find. Kinda. The roads around it aren't very good and are bumpy. If I were looking for bumps, I'd have ventured across the I-40 to Hooters

I've been to several Chuy's locations before, but this is the first time I've been to the one in Amarillo. I ordered a Chuy's top shelf margarita and a Texas 'Tini. Both of these were very good! It's clear the bartender knew what she was doing. The enchiladas were served quickly, so no complaint there. The sauce was very spicy (as expected) but did not seem to be as flavorful as I'd had it elsewhere before. On the whole, dinner was good.

Very good food! We stopped here on our way through to Colorado. The bartender was such a sweetheart, positive attitude, super friendly- she made our meal enjoyable. The fajita tacos crispy were soo goody! Excellent flavor. I highly recommend this restaurant for the great staff and great food!

Greeter welcomed us and made small talk as he seated us. Jason waited on us, he did an awesome job. Food was amazing and the place was clean. Definitely hit the spot today!

OMG, Thank You Chuy's. Location is right off the highway, it was a slow Thursday but I was scared I didn't see many cars. Its a seat yourself. The enviroment is cute, festive, lots of cool portraits. Our waiter, Matt, was the BOMB! We were first timers so he brought a rainbow plate that was a sample of all their sauces. All of them were so good, I could have licked the plate. The salsa was so flavorful. I got the steak burrito and my child got enchiladas. Everything is Fresh and packed with Flavor. Matt was so tentative!! I will be back time and time again. Do not PASS THIS Gem up! If you see it stop and grab some yummy food!!!! Btw* the cook arrives every morning and makes everything fresh. The side of beans were just so good!!**

Mid-afternoon stop passing thru, still had 6 tables w/food. Ate here long LONG time ago and pleasantly surprised to find it as good as ever. Cooks produced delicious entrees: Elvis Presley's Memorial Platter & Baja Tacos w/Shrimp. Excellent meal sizes & top-notch server brought variety of salsa's/sauces that truly complimented the flavors. Light crips chips, tall drinks, yeup, all good start to finish.

The lower rating puzzle me. To someone that loves Tex-Mex it better of the chains and very reasonably priced and the creamy jalapeños make everything better. Chips and Salsa that keeps coming, warm and salty chips the creamy jalapeños is by request only btw. In my opinion most TexMex is pretty easy but not all have figured it out. I think these guys have. Although we didn't have this trip they do have good margaritas. They aren't perfect but like I said the creamy jalapeños makes everything better.

Visiting my girlfriend and her family in Amarillo led me to trying some of their favorite places in…read morethe city. My girlfriend's mom was especially excited to take me to El Tejaven while I was visiting. This dinner was a celebration of my girlfriend's sister playing in the top All-Region orchestra. It has nothing to do with the food itself, but I want to mention it because she did a great job performing and I think it deserves to be remembered here. It is the reason we went in the first place. It was a busy night at El Tejaven before we arrived. A group of 32 was just wrapping up dinner. Thirty two people. At that point, just cater, dawg. It took about 20 minutes after arrival to get seated, but it likely would have been much quicker if it were not for a group that size. Once we were seated, we were served chips and salsa. The salsa was spicier than I was prepared for, but it was good. The chips were excellent as well. Most people at the table ordered margaritas on the rocks, while I got a dressed Dos Equis on draft. From what I tasted, the margaritas were solid. For appetizers, we ordered the small queso and the small ceviche. The queso was standard but good. The ceviche, on the other hand, was exceptional. I could have eaten a large bowl by myself. I was pretty hungry, so I ordered the Orden de Tacos, which comes with four tacos on corn tortillas. I got all of them with al pastor. I also added a side of rice and beans, which normally comes with the three taco order but can be added on for the four tacos. The tacos were very good and exactly what you want from street style al pastor, especially with the cilantro and onions. It comes out to roughly four dollars per taco if you do the math. The rice and beans were both great and I ate all of it easily. The plate also came with a side of guacamole that had a nice kick, which I enjoyed. Living in Austin with family in San Antonio, it is easy to find good and authentic Mexican food. That does not always seem to be the case in Amarillo, so it is nice to know there is at least one spot in the city that feels authentic and not overly gringoified. My girlfriend's family knows ball. Real, non machine made flour tortillas. Huge mug of Modela on tap, ice cold of course. The hubby got eggs over easy with chilaquiles which were delicious. But my star was the chile rellenos. They give you two! The sauce, the batter, the peppe, r the cheese inside; everything about this relleno was just perfect. I believe it was the best I've ever had. Definitely could never eat it all but I would order it again. Rice and beans on. Queso ok. Service was above and beyond great. They had a bunch of other things that looked really good and a lot of seafood items. Spic and span clean on the outside and the inside. Would definitely recommend

Food selection was too hard to choose so I married it down to a bowl of soup or enchiladas. Waitress recommended the beef soup with fresh handmade tortillas. We had tortilla chips and two salsas until the food arrived. The other person on my party had carnitas tacos and I tasted those as they came to the table first. Tender meat, delicate cheese sprinkled on them and refried beans that were smooth and comforting. Then my extra large bowl of soup arrived with two limes on the side. Large chunks of pot roast beef so tender the spoon just melted through them. There was potato, carrot, cabbage and onion in a delicate but flavorful beef base broth. I added some of the spicy salsa to mine as I'm a "spicy" girly and it was just perfect. As I mentioned a received homemade flour tortilla but had a choice of corn if desired. The tortillas are the ones that are hand thrown and chewy and just O.M.G. The best I've ever had. Don't walk ... run to this establishment. I will return again and again.

We were brought individual flights of salsa to go with the chips. My michelada hit the spot. Was it the best? No. But it scratched the itch. I couldn't decide on what to eat.
