Location is kinda in middle of nowhere? Arrived late, sat outside on covered porch and were served quickly by a super nice waitress. Food arrived quickly and was fantastic!!!! Pork Carnitas, Chicken Enchiladas, and Chicken Chimichanga. Food was cheap for the quality and amount!! Everything was delicious!!! I love David's. It holds a special place in my heart. I used to always go get the Shredded Chicken Quesadilla for YEARS. I moved back from Miami and they started putting beans on it. I don't like that, but I recommend any visitor to visit. I love them. Ask for Aspen when you go! I love that they're flexible and have an outdoor area so you don't be so close to everyone else. read more

I live in San Antonio. I've eaten Mexican food my whole life. I love authentic Mexican like they do in Mexico and Tex-mex and David's is somewhere in the middle. Trust me when I say you need to go to David's. It's not in the hippest part of town and it's not an expensive looking place. But the food is better than any Mexican restaurant in Amarillo. And the waitstaff is great. They made sure the food was brought out quick, drinks were never empty and checked on me a couple of times, it's the type of service you expect at every restaurant but rarely get. Place was mid. Not very flavorful or appetizing. Everything lacked flavor. Wish I had gone somewhere else.

I've been here a couple of times in 2025 food and waitresses were good I returned 11-18-25 and had a guy that seemed to be the owner commit about me with a group of 5 and then they all laugh. Our first time in Amarillo, while searching Mexican food in the area David's Mexican restaurant came up. The restaurant truly did not disappoint. We stopped there on a Sunday afternoon & there were no parking spots available (a good sign) finally finding a spot we were surprised to be seated immediately. Complimentary chips & salsa arrived. Hubby ordered chicken enchiladas with red sauce instead of green that it normally comes with. (This is a personal choice as he doesn't normally like the green sauce) The dish was tasty but too spicy for him so he didn't finish his meal. The beans were delicious especially with the chips. I ordered just 1 beef street taco & a small side of queso. The taco was amazing (hubby sampled a bite & thought so too) just a perfect street taco & I regret not ordering 2. The queso was delicious & I even had enough to bring home for later. The atmosphere was your typical Mexican theme with some beautiful art on the walls. Music playing quietly in the background made table conversation easy. Everything was clean & well taken care of (both inside/outside sitting areas & both restrooms) Our server & other staff members were all courteous, knowledgeable & ready to assist us as needed. Don't let the outside fool you, the food was delicious! They were really busy but we got our food quickly. I had a stuffed avocado with shredded chicken and a sour cream sauce. YUM! Big chunks of delicious chicken!! Hubby had the combo platter with a tamale that was grilled! So glad we saw the great reviews and stopped here on our trip to Palo Duro Canyon! read more

"Take the plunge" From the outside the place does look promising. But when you taste what is in n the menu you know this is the right move. Great place! Friendly staff! You gotta try this. They serve yummy homemade warm salsa and creamy cilantro lime salsa served when you walk in! Outdoor seating available. Crowded parking ( a good thing!) We got two different kinds of fajitas. The poblano trio fajitas were covered in cheese and came with mushrooms and zucchini. Wonderful family atmosphere. Loved them both. But let's get to what brought me in today...their Ceviche Mixto. Beautiful, delicious, and a spiritual experience! It was worth the drive. Really the best authentic Mexican food in Amarillo and certainly the best restaurant north of downtown. The prices are more than reasonable and the service is lovely. The girlfriend, who was certain that Ceviche isn't the same north of the Rio Grande devoured David's seafood Ceviche. You are welcomed by the staff as you walk through the door. The staff is very professional and friendly. The food is excellent and fresh. Their tomatillo salsa is to die for. We went here last night with some friends- none of us had been here before- everything was DELICIOUS. We started with the yummy queso Blanco and some bacon wrapped shrimp as appetizers. For the meal, I got the #21 grilled chicken with spinach and mushroom with REAL refried beans and perfect rice. My friend ordered chile verde and she said it was great. The star of the show was the carnitas- they were served like fajitas with grilled peppers, onion, and zucchini. Another order was the Yaels plate. That also resulted in an empty plate. We saw someone else order fried ice cream but we were too full to try it- it looked delish too! Our waitress was also amazing, she was very accommodating and funny too!! Driving through Amarillo on our way back to Nevada and we were starving for something that wasn't fast food. This place was a bit off the I40 and I was honestly nervous when I saw the place. I'm going to give David's five stars. Yes the food is excellent, but the owner and employees are top notch. We have had a couple of tragic events on the north side of Amarillo the past two years, and he has always without blinking come the the rescue to help others out. Many times you never see the owner of a successful restaurant. It is top notch, from the hostess, to the servers and let's not forget the kitchen staff. I also want to say, I love the fact that he is versatile... Check out his newest baby at 9th and Tyler. Valore Italian restaurant.
