This is one of my favorite places to come for breakfast on the weekends. The waitstaff always have a smile on their faces and are prompted with taking care of customers. The Barbacoa was cooked really well, lots of flavor. But they didn't strain it enough and there was a little too much grease in the taco (it was dripping everywhere). Stopped here on a cross country road trip and had some absolutely amazing carne asada tacos w/rice and beans. Everything was fresh and delicious and the service was outstanding. On top of the delicious food and great service they were incredible kind and helpful, as I left my credit card by mistake and they mailed it back to me right away! Below average for Mexican food. I ordered a chimichanga with fajita meat and the green chile sauce. No real strong flavors, beans and rice were average. Chile didn't have a lot of spice. The green chile salsa served with the initial chips actually has more flavor. I visited the restaurant right after a rain storm and the ceiling was leaking rainwater on a table and none of the staff really seemed to care. Overall, I would look elsewhere for Mexican food in Amarillo. read more

5/19/2023 The place was packed and we had to wait but it was highly rated by our hotel receptionist. It was well worth the 15-20 minutes, especially since it was a Friday night. Staff were all helpful and friendly, service was very good and the food was great. Atmosphere was loud but obviously family friendly with several large families having a night out. This little hole in the wall has some of the best mexican I have had the joy of eating. The menu is very bland and doesn't give you high hopes but I ordered a beef fajita quesadila and hoped for the best. The quesadilla came out perfectly grilled and crispy, oozing with high quality cheese, well seasoned flank steak, and grilled peppers & onion. The quesadilla was well presented (see pic), with a little side of lettuce and tomato. I ordered a side of cilanto for the finishing touch to what I would say is in the top 3 mexican meals of all time. We also ordered a side of rice and beans and a veggie burrito. The rice and beans have a subtle meat, perhaps chorizo flavor, which adds some goodness. The burrito was done well with beans, sour cream, tomato, and lettuce. The only thing these guys need to work on is chilling those Coronas more and maybe having some lime next time, I mean, c'mon! If you are passing through I urge you to drive past those DQ's that seem to be at every exit in these parts and try Tacos Garcia! You won't be disappointed. read more

Amazing and delicious. We stopped in for breakfast after checking out of our hotel. It was the perfect start to our day and the long drive home. The burritos were more than big enough for the kids, and the breakfast plates were more than any of us could finish. The barbacoa was delicious, as was the ranchero sauce. The service was fast and friendly. The coffee was hot. Everything was fantastic. I wish we had one of these at home. read more

Pretty close to authentic Mexican food. Fast, large portions, and tasty. The enchiladas are my favorite, covered in cheese and fully loaded with beef, chicken ones are good too. Fresh made chips and salsa at the table too. The beans have great smoky flavor. read more

Food was good. Had the quesadillas. Pretty typical tex mex. They were very busy but got us in their pretty fast.

We usually love Tacos Garcia and we eat there whenever we are in Amarillo. However we were disappointed with our food on Labor Day. My husband and I both got chicken enchiladas and the chicken was disgusting. It was a stringy mushy boiled brown mess. The New Mexico Red sauce was awesome though. The beer and drinks were good, but had to wait forever for refills. Greasiest tacos ever!!! Rice and plates were not hot. So noisy, the waitress couldn't hear the order so she brought shrimp quesadilla instead of shrimp fajita.
