Not only were the spices and seasonings excellent but the cook on everything was perfect Pork soup dumplings - were some of the best I've had in a while House special wonton soup - clean and flavorful Scallion pancakes - perfection Shrimp toasted - didn't know what to expect from this one but it was delightful! Tasted like a shrimp dumpling but browned. Hong Kong chicken with ginger and scallion Outstanding , the cook, the flavoring the cooked veggies. This is a must get! Mongolian beef - Delicious along with everything else Chinese broccoli w ginger and wine - Delicious and great compliment, next time I'd prefer to try the same flavoring but with Bok Choy House Special pan fried noodles. We decided to have dinner at Orient Odyssey since it's located in the same shopping center as Whole Foods--we needed to do our grocery shopping afterward. We're already familiar with this restaurant because it's the sister restaurant to our favorite, Orient Garden in New Hyde Park. My husband ordered the Country Chicken and thoroughly enjoyed it. The portion was very generous--I forgot to take a photo until he was halfway through his meal, and he still had leftovers to bring home. I ordered the 2 1/2-pound Vancouver crab over rice noodles. It was absolutely delicious. The crab was perfectly seasoned with garlic and scallions, and the rice noodles soaked up all of the wonderful flavors. I was completely satisfied with my meal, and the portion was equally generous. What really made the experience special was the hospitality. Owner Tom leads an excellent team, and every staff member we encountered was professional, attentive, and genuinely pleasant. Came here for dim sum after doing some shopping.. found this place convenient while in the area. Luckily we just beat the lunch crowd on a Saturday. Not a very big place but sufficient number of tables. For dim sum, they do have carts that go around and you can order or order via the menu and they will bring it to you. We ordered our staple dishes: shumai, fried crispy dumpling with pork, fried dough wrapped noodles, shrimp noodles, beef noodles, roast pork buns- all to share. Tea to wash it down with. Prices on par with those in Chinatown, Flushing etc. Overall food was was ok and service was good. Plenty of options on the menu if dining for dim sum, lunch or dinner. Came here with guests and several had food poisoning and complained about one of the waiters (who may be the new manager or owner) being very rude to them and pushing orders. Came here on a Sunday evening and it was packed! All the local golfers definitely come here after their weekend rounds. It was so delicious though, the honey walnut shrimp was a must order and their vegetable dishes were so good too. We ordered the lobster and it was cooked to perfection! This is a solid Chinese food spot on Long Island. I've brought my family here and we enjoyed quite a few dinners here. I heard they also have dim sum but I haven't personally tried it. Service is decent but it's better if you speak Chinese, we've tried speaking English to some of the servers and they don't always understand what you're saying. We've been here multiple times and it's definitely our favorite dim sum on LI! Today we arrived as they opened at 11am to celebrate Lunar New Year! Our daughter happened to be off from school and we thought it would be the perfect place to celebrate. They had the carts rolling along and we were able to grab most of our favorites that way but put in a separate order for some dishes as well. We had the roast pork turnovers, egg tarts, custard buns, shrimp stuffed eggplant, har gow, Xiao long bao, shumai, pork and chive dumplings, turnip cakes, shrimp rice noodles, and sticky rice in lotus leaf. Every dish was better than the last and also very fresh. Service is always very pleasant, the waitress even took the time to teach my daughter how to properly use chopsticks! I'm a weekly customer, and unfortunately, the customer service has become so unpleasant that it takes away from what would otherwise be a great experience. The food is delicious, but good food doesn't excuse poor treatment of loyal customers. 1/5 Stars - WORST SERVICE EVER! Just had the worst dining experience at this dim sum place in NYC during winter. I told them right when I walked in that I get cold easily and asked to sit inside. They said ok. But there were clearly small tables available inside. The restaurant was HALF EMPTY! So many seats inside were free. The staff REFUSED to seat me there and forced me to sit by the DOOR. And guess what? RIGHT next to the door with freezing cold air blowing DIRECTLY on me the entire time. It was like -10°C outside and the door kept opening and cold wind was hitting me nonstop! I was literally freezing my ass off! I told the staff it was way too cold and you know what they said? Staff: "It might be better if you sit here." Me: Are you kidding?! There's cold wind blowing directly on me! Staff: "No wind here." ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! The cold air was literally blowing in my face! This felt 100% intentional. Like they were trying to punish me or something. Complete nightmare service. Then one day strolled over while had some extra time - and found it to be an in demand real deal Chinese food sit down restaurant. A brisk and busy place had many authentic Chinese servers and customers. Lots of people ordering family style here and lots of steamed dumplings being brought to tables. Plenty of tables for dining in a comfortable but casual dining room, with reasonably fast paced service. An easily recommended place. So far all dishes tried were good EXCEPT the egg foo young.. as they don't have they expected brown gravy. Instead a dark type of sauce you can drizzle over. Ehh.. Lol. All else so far so good. First impression- ambiance is your typical Chinese dimsum restaurant a little dark, reasonably clean but at least the fish in the tank is still swimming and alive! That's a plus + Food (review is just for dimsum) is mid, can't say they are super delicious but they aint the worst. I say stick with the spare ribs, shrimp rice rolls and shrimp dumplings and you'll be alright. The siumai and chicken feet were decent. Definitely stay away from the turnip cake cause was all dough all day no filling, the only positive from the turnip cake is at least it's crispy on the outside. Incredibly fresh tastes and made to order food! I have been several times and each time convinced that the meal was better than the previous trip. The dumplings are heavenly- most recently the shrimp...... excellent and even more so! Soup was hot and warming and tasted so fresh. General Tso was also very delicious and filling. The calamari was a sure winner and the appetizer could have been an entree. Service was fantastic and three separate service people came to check on us throughout the meal. All were very pleasant and helpful. Clean bright and great for small groups, this Chinese restaurant can certainly entertain your party with either tables or booths. Tldr: tried to give this place another chance and was disappointed. people come here because it is one of the few authentic dim sum places in the area. Workers and owners are rude. The food is ok at best, and I've found hair in my food and lipstick stains on their cups. They also get the wrong order repeatedly without taking responsibility. I had ordered beef noodles, and they took down mushroom. Didn't want to return, and they charged for mushroom, so I did not complain. Another time I ordered take out, they gave completely different dishes without letting me know. They ran out of a dish and replaced it with something I didn't want and charged me the same price - didn't even bother to tell me or ask me if I wanted it. I would have just taken it out of my order and not pay for it rather than get the greasy replacement dish they gave that wasn't even similar to my original order. They also gave another wrong dish in that same order - but still charged me the same amount (the more expensive price). After I explained it to them, they said they would refund the cost of the wrong dishes without any apology, but never actually refunded me as they promised. They said it would take 24-48 hours to process, but after 4 days, there is still no refund on my credit card. To add insult to injury, there was hair in my food. Dishonest and dirty place. read more

I've never been a huge fan of the Bethpage Orient, but my dear friend is and this location is mid way between her home in Bayville & mine in Westbury. There's not many exciting places to meet up, tonight we decided to try Orient Odyssey. I hadn't been here since the first weeks after they opened. It did not disappoint and I look forward to returning. Everything that we ordered was exceptionally fresh & well prepared. Service was excellent, the folks here are used to dealing with the locals who know what they want and we watched how interactive the staff was when taking orders.. they have large round tables with a lazy susan which is always great for large parties. The decor is nothing special, the seating is oddly set up & spaced out, almost an afterthought around the comfy green pleather booths. A few large TV's up high on the walls with the Met game on. Very solid, old time Chinese restaurant with an extensive menu that included traditional dishes as well as favorites typical of Long Islanders. Though I did not notice a pupu platter ! It's sad to note that we've never noticed Orient Odyssey, a charming Chinese Hong Kong Style Restaurant, that we overlooked for years. Perusing the lunchtime menu, I was very happy to see Dim Sum options available in addition to the usual Chinese fare. My knowledge of Dim Sum kicked in so I asked my colleagues if they've ever tried Dim Sum and if they mind if I ordered a few items. I'm no Dim sum expert, but will say I gained some know how from my invitations to Flushing brunches by my Yelp friends...looking at you TC and Anna! These experiences allowed me to take the lead on ordering my Dim Sum choices. Our obligatory Lazy Susan circled our table with complimentary Hot Tea to start us off and then the non-stop flow of orders started trickling in. Two orders of each - Turnip Cakes, Crispy Fried Taro Puffs, Crispy Spring Rolls, Shu Mai, Leek Dumplings. Plus, staple lunch orders for the not so adventurous or so they thought...Chicken and Broccoli, Spiced up General Taos Chicken and another Spiced up Shredded Pork dish. Each lunch order, as is customary came with Egg Rolls and Fried Rice. For this party of five we way over-ordered. But over ordering allowed everyone to get a taste of everything which garnered a ton of mmm's and ahh's. Their initiation to Dim Sum was a huge success! This place is super convenient for satisfying a craving for dim sum on Long Island! It's definitely not the same as going to Flushing, Queens but still makes for a tasty brunch on the weekends. The service is pretty good and they're pretty efficient given how busy it can get sometimes. I will say that sometimes the chairs and windows are a little dirty which ruins the experience a little but overall it's an easy place to go to and is right next to Whole Foods, Marshall's, and some salon and bagel places. read more

We love their triple fried salt and pepper seafood dish of scallops, shrimp and squid, but this time the size of the scallops were way too small. There is a $10 price difference between just the squid and this dish; adding three shrimp and two scallops. This is just not worth paying. Otherwise, all our other dishes tasted good per the wok heh of Cantonese cooking. We were four people who ordered three bowls of rice which were complimentary, but when we asked for an additional bowl, they charged us for this bowl on our bill. Since moving to Long Island from queens it has been hard to find authentic dim sum or dim sum in general. My friend told me about this spot, she lives around the area. I live about 20 mins further out and did not know about this place. There is plenty of parking which is a big plus! Upon walking in, the ambience was welcoming. The hostess greeted my son and I and seated us immediately. The restaurant was clean, tables were clean, menu was neat and clean, and the vibe of the restaurant was nice, crisp, modern, and clean. They have a nice selection of wines behind the counter on display and available to purchase. The ladies were walking around with carts and there were other servers checking in on us asking if we needed anything else. My son and i got our usual faves : 1. Shiu mai 2. Shrimp noodle 3. Turnip cake 4. Beef stew with turnip 5. A side of rice It was sooooo delish!! We didn't finish it all! We were able to take it home and have it for dinner. Which by the way, tasted just as good!! A Chinese restaurant that serves dim sum, Cantonese dishes, and Americanized Chinese food! It's located near Whole Foods and parking is a hit or miss depending on the time of day. The food isn't as good as Flushing but it is good enough to satisfy a craving. You also can't beat the convenience! The dim sum dishes are good. They give you plenty of sauce for the rice rolls. Congee is always served warm but they could put more toppings/ingredients as it's mostly just plain congee. The entrees have good portions but their fried rice is too salty for my taste. I usually order takeout from here and it's actually pretty good, however coming here during a rush or just eating here in general is just a mess!!! If you come here for dim sum (lunch), depending on what side of the restaurant you're sat on, you're basically neglected. They only have one food cart, so you can imagine how long that takes. The benches are extremely dirty, everytime I've came here the seats are just full of food. I look up and there's an air vent that looks like hasn't been cleaned in years. It's so hard to find a dimsum spot in Long Island. A friend recommended this place so I thought I give it a try. Let me say that it didn't quite hit the spot but compare to the distance of flushing. It's as good as it gets. I would say majority of their selections are your standards for dimsum. Nothing special nor great. They speak mando, canto, and english. Their turn around is fast so the wait time isn't too bad. Overall it's a decent spot if you don't want to trip to Queens. My one complaint.. my only complaint and im sorry. I am a BIG shumai snob. This is purely me. When I go to dim sum and your shumai taste like that... I'm sorry. THAT is NOT shumai... Whatever your chef is making. PLEASE have him try it himself... Chop pork meat. NOT MINCE! Chop shrimp for taste. Essential ingredients oyster sauce, sugar, soy sauce, mince ginger, salt, pepper, dried scallops if you want to be fancy and fish roe on top. You can do chopped carrots to garnish or hell don't put any of that just a small shrimp on top! will suffice. 3.5 Stars There aren't many Chinese restaurants in Long Island, especially ones that serve dim sum, so I gotta say it's good for being one of the few out here. However, it's definitely not as good as the ones in Queens! I've gotten dim sum here (both take out and dine in) and it'll get the job done for a craving but of course, it's not comparable to dim sum spots in Flushing. The have a pretty good selection of dim sum from the traditional items that you can find anywhere (like chicken feet, shu mai, har gow) to other unique items such as the pineapple bun with salted egg yolk (which was really yum). They have the ladies who push the carts so you can see what's available but you can also order any of the dim sum items off their menu that you don't see in the carts and they'll make it for you fresh too. Of course dim sum is always better when dining in rather than take out. I've also gotten several dishes for take out off their dinner menu and it was a good option. The food was flavorful and portion sizes were good, they filled the entire box. The crispy pork chop was fried well and remained crispy for the car ride home. The chicken with garlic sauce was also juicy and topped with fried garlic, a classic Cantonese item. The string beans were also done well but had a bit too much sauce. The color was way too dark, unlike most pork fried rice, you needed a jeweler's loop to find any other ingredient besides white rice bathed in an over abundance of soy sauce. What a delicious dim sum experience. Sometimes you just need some dim sum. Some steamed rice rolls, some shrimp dumplings, some stuffed tofu, and chinese greens. The roast pork steamed rice rolls were filled to capacity with delicious char siu. The shrimp in the crystal dumplings was the size of a golf ball. The fried stuffed tofu was so fresh, hot, and filled with a giant ball of shrimp. The star is always sautéed snow pea leaves. Bright green, a little crunchy , with just the right amount of garlic. We focused on seafood, we had clams and black bean sauce as a shared app. For main we had lobster with ginger and scallion, steamed flounder and a Chinese vegetable I only know as ung choi with fermented soy bean sauce. Tried this place with friends who are also Asian and we have all been looking for a dim sum place in the area without having to go all the way to Queens/Flushing. We went around 1pm so there was no line and were seated promptly. We ordered off a menu (no carts at this time) and most dishes came quickly. Flavor of the majority of our dishes were good (chive pockets, chicken feet, chicken sticky rice, shrimp cheung fen, shrimp dumplings, congee, pork ribs with black bean). The siu mai meat texture was a little odd, but still good. All in all food was probably a 3.5 out of 5, but given convenience of location for those living out east, I rounded up to 4. read more

I couldn't decide what to order in for lunch at work. Then I spotted a take out menu that someone must have dropped off. I then went on yelp to look at most recent reviews which were not good. But they offered free delivery and I think it's horrible that places charge $3-4 dollars for delivery. I saw they had pineapple chicken so I decided to give it a try. I asked for the dish to be prepared with no vegetables just chicken and pineapple. They said it would be like 35 minutes but arrived much quicker. The chicken was delicious as was the pineapple. The sauce as Guy Fieri says you could eat on a flip flop. I was there was more sauce to put on the white rice that came with it. I noticed on my bill they charged me an extra $3.00 for extra chicken I guess due to no vegetables. Turns out I'm glad they did as I have enough for another meal.
