This is my family's new favorite chinese restaurant. We've been coming here for months and have zero complaints. They're reasonably priced, give good portions for the price they charge. Staff is always polite and friendly. The food is delicious and I love their presentation, they always give us our takeout order in boxes. Which is unique and environmentally friendly hehe. This is an old school Chinese take out restaurant! I had been missing the whole going and circle your items on the menu experience and that was exactly what I did here! Very nostalgic. I ordered an egg roll, steamed pork dumplings, BBQ spare ribs, house special fried rice, vegetable lo mein, sweet and sour chicken, and got fried cheese wontons for free. The reviews are all on point: the food was definitely worth the trip. The dumplings were not skimpy with the filling. They were a little thick with the dough but very tasty. Sauce was salty. The ribs were absolutely delicious with meaty ribs and well seasoned. I like mine crispier and forgot to ask for well done which I am sure they would have done. I had been yearning for fried rice (like for days) and I was more than satisfied. Perfect grains with no stickiness and no oiliness. I ate all and that is saying something. House special had nice chunks of chicken but not sure if there was beef and pork (hard to tell). The lo mein was only vegetable which was a new order for me. I did spend the time eating it thinking that something was missing. Next time I'll order my usual and have the chicken lo mein. But still a good eat. The only mild disappointment was the sweet and sour chicken. The chicken bites were more dough than chicken and for awhile I thought it was the fried cheese because the chicken did not eat like real chunks of chicken but more like processed chicken. That being said, they were still a good eat and the sweet and sour sauce was perfect. N CDC but I will probably not order them again. It's my first time ordering from Chinatown Kitchen so I wanted to try a little bit of everything. I ordered the BBQ Rib Combo Plate with pork fried rice (comes with egg roll), a Chicken and Broccoli Combo Plate with white rice, and some fried chicken wings. The $30 order came with some fried cheese wontons, which was unexpectedly delicious. Dipped in sweet and sour sauce, the fried cheese wontons were perfectly crispy on the outside and cheesy on the inside. More importantly it didn't eat oily. The fried chicken wings were excellent! Super golden, crispy, and juicy on the inside. They had been nicely marinated to its flavorful even without sauce, though a little duck sauce helps cut through the richness of fried food. The bbq ribs are not sauced - old school style! It was meaty, not overly coated in dye, and had a nice char at the tip. They were nicely marinated and not overly salted. Definitely tasted fresh! The chicken and broccoli's color through me off a bit as it was on the reddish side, but it tasted pretty decent! Nothing to write home about BUT was a solid chicken and broccoli! I don't find myself getting Chinese takeout too often, but I had some cravings recently for General Tso's so I hit up Chinatown Kitchen a few times over the past few months. This place is on Post Ave across from Rite Aid and it looks like a pretty standard takeout place. I have to note that their customer service definitely seems a bit better than your usual place. The woman who I spoke with was friendly and answered questions well. The guy I spoke with recently seemed nice as well and was very big on calling me 'my friend' when I spoke with him. LoL. So I've gotten the General Tso's lunch special with pork fried rice and wonton soup twice (comes out to $8.15 total) and I recently got an order of Beef Chow Fun (comes out to $10 flat). These are prices with cash, so make sure you pay with cash, or else there will be a credit card fee. The food is pretty solid all around. Nothing spectacularly amazing, but pretty well executed and fairly tasty. The General Tso's wasn't overly saucy, which is a good sign. PFR was pretty ok. Wonton soup was solid. I also think they did a pretty good job with the Beef Chow Fun, as the noodles were cooked pretty well and weren't overdone and soggy. I've gotten Pad See Eew from Thai places that were actually worse. So good job to them on that. So overall, nothing much to complain about here. The prices seem pretty fair considering it's 2023 although I wish I could still get lunch specials for like $5.50 like how it was back in the day. Solid 4 stars and recommend. read more

I Was calling for delivery takeout for a while I orderd wonton with seseme sauce supposed to be l I e cold noodles with sesame sauce e but with wonton.instead.i order wonton with garlic sauce all week but today I wanted something different. When I got it it was garlic sauce but the chef sprinkled sesame seeds on top I called and complained to no avail. OK, I am a NYC transplant now in Long Island. I tried Golden Wok a couple days earlier and it wasn't what I am used to when I order Chinese American takeout from the city maybe it's catered to the local demographics. But this place, Chinatown Kitchen, reminded me of the Chinese American takeout that I am used to in the city. I no longer have to make a commute to the outer boroughs or city when I'm in the mood for good Chinese American takeout. The lady that works there is so nice too. The woman of the shop told me to try her beef udon soup and I did! I was very pleased. I asked for it spicy. I can tell the broth was cooked for hours the beef was sooo tender and had the right amount of spices. This was truly a homemade tasting dish. I ordered from them for the first time. I admit the food is good. However I wondered why my boneless ribs and French fries came to 11.55 That's a lot for a plate right?! Well I see my receipt and they decided I should pay $9.25 for the food, a mystery fee of $1.50 plus tax .80 and then tact another $1.50 for delivery. If I had known this I wouldn't have tipped my rude delivery guy that was too busy on his phone that he wouldn't even come to my door and ring the bell. The delivery man honked his horn, I had to come to him and then he puts his phone on speaker so he can keep talking. I like an idiot tip him $3 and not even a word from him. In westbury, this is probably the best chinese food you will have. I have been ordering from Chinatown Kitchen for over 10 years. Service is absolutely amazing. I always order the spicy baby shrimp broccoli, with snow peas and string beans. With a side of white rice and an egg roll. What's amazing with this place is that they build relationships with everyone in the community. I usually call and they recognize my voice and automatically know my order. I've lived in westbury for years and Chinatown Kitchen has been here for years. Which makes sense as to why the employees know the customers so well! Great customer service=returning customers. The food in general is decent, I've definitely had better chinese food but some menu items are better than others. The spare ribs, which are always my go to at most chinese food places, were dry and lacked flavor. The sweet and sour chicken was yummy, but the dipping sauce was a little too bland for me. The egg drop soup is great & so is their lo mein! The owner threw in some crab ragoon for me as well since I spent over $20, which is nice since most chinese places don't do that. I order take out at least once a week, and have been ordering for 3 years. Usually I pick up the order but sometimes I order delivery which is delivered very fast. The woman who works almost everyday at the counter knows me and knows my usual order which is very convenient. The other staff is nice and helpful. My ultimate favorite item are the pan fried wontons in garlic sauce. They are similar to dumplings, but the wontons, like in wonton soup, are fried in a thick, brown, slightly spicy sauce. I usually with throw some rice on top. I also recommend anything that comes with sweet and sour sauce (fried wontons, sweet and sour chicken) as the sweet and sour sauce is delicious. The general tso chicken, and sesame chicken are good too. The prices are really good and you get freebies for ordering over certain amounts. Highly recommend. read more

The last few times though, things are just a bit off. I had orderered the hot and spicy shrimp - like I have for years. Asked for it to be extra spicy - just like always... but when I got it - it was the furthest from spicy I've ever had. It was actually sweet to the taste. Not a trace of spicy. They have also managed to ruiin the seafood soup, Used to be chock full of seafood, (real and fake) adn have a nice strong broth, but lately it tastes like actual WATER. no flavor at all, and when I mention that - I get a greenish hued broth that doesnt tast like food at all.
