This place is called Ai Asian Cuisine now and my friends and I came to try it out for dinner. The dim sum are pretty good. It is Flushing quality but not sure it is of $9 a dish a good value. Tried it once but not every week staple order. Other dishes are some hit and miss. I then came back a couple of weeks later to try a lunch special take out. I ordered roast pork and roast duck on rice. This is a definite failure. The roast pork is a bit blend and roast duck's skin was not crispy. The rice was bunched together and obviously too much water was used to cook the rice. This is a Cantonese restaurant who cannot cook rice. That is like a sushi restaurant who cannot slice fish. Compared to the takeout from a super market like 99 Ranch, this is abysmal. I also ordered a roast pork lo mein. This is no different from any dozens of cheap Chinese take outs can produce. I will most probably never return here. I am Cantonese and to me the quality is not worth it. read more

Lunch delivery review only. We've ordered from here a couple times or so and each time they forget something. Our designated lunch orderer guy always calls them back to say 'you forgot this...' or 'you forgot that...' Funny enough they do remember to give us the thing they forgot during the previous order and then comically they forget something else in the recent order (scratches head). I've surmised that this is just apart of their business plan. Anyway, lunch specials are plentiful...Soup, Protein, Rice plus a limited Dim Sum choice. All the proteins I've selected, be it a Chicken or Tofu seemed to share the same sauce. Mapo Tofu isn't supposed to taste like Orange Chicken...right? Sadly, yet happily the best part of my lunches have been their house fried Wonton Strips and Spring Rolls (Dim Sum choice). Both are always thin and have a crisp texture. Not a fan of the proteins. We went to this Upscale Chinese restaurant on Christmas Day. It has many unusual and authentic dishes and while I steered away from things like Ox tongue, bullfrog, intestines and duck blood I did enjoy a few Szechuan dishes the kind the leave your mouth mouth hot and tingling, all where excellent and the Dan Dan and Mapo were some of the best I've had locally. Master Chef in Syosset: it's basically an Asian Fusion restaurant. They have a little of everything. I tend not to like Asian Fusion restaurants but we were in the area for a play, and were looking for a quick meal close by. I was expecting a typical Chinese restaurant in a strip-mall...imagine my shock when I saw how grand Master Chef is! This restaurant is Huge! Elephant statues in front! Pretty nice inside also! This is definitely an upscale place; definitely not your typical stripmall Chinese takeout place. What a nice surprise. We stuck to a few dim sum items (for my little niece), which were pretty good. We also tried their Cumin Lamb Chops, which were great! Food quality and flavors were pretty good overall. Not what I expected and a nice surprise. Their prices are on the high end, and their primary customers are non-Asians. Would i go again? Yes, I would. They have quite an extensive menu! Service and hospitality are top notch. I'm giving this place 4 stars because I'll be honest the food was really good, not mind blowing but still very good. As soon as I walked in, the decor was beautiful, felt like a very fancy restaurant but then noticed how casual everyone was dressed so then it didn't feel as fancy. For dinner I got chicken with mixed veggies which came with a choice of brown or white rice, I got brown rice. The best part was the steamed pork belly buns as a starter, those were so so delicious! The menu was gigantic! The first half was Chinese food and the other half was Japanese. The service was nice, quick and efficient! Really nice place, I'd come here again even if it was for appetizers. One last thing, the dinner portions are large so definitely large enough to share with a couple people. read more

Came to Masterchef the other day to pickup lunch for work and was not impressed with the order, the service, or the quality of the food. The restaurant itself is beautiful to look at outside and in, but everything else is pretty lacking. I got the lunch special of Spicy Tuna and Salmon rolls for $13, and she forgot to pack my soup. I call to ask for the soup and she says "I owe you one when you come back" and hangs up. Didn'f even get my name. Took a long time to make too, and the other dish I tried was too spicy for my co-worker, who got way more for her lunch special. The place seems overpriced, underwhelming, and will not try again. 2 stars, 1 for the look of the place and 1 for the quality of the food. read more

Disappointing dining experience. Sadly, management is new and obviously inexperienced in running a restaurant efficiently. I've always enjoyed Master Chef when visiting family on LI. The new restaurant name is Ai Asian Cuisine. The one waiter, who told me he's worked at Master Chef for three years, gave me all incorrect info when asked about menu items. It took 30 minutes to get soups; egg drop and tofu/veggie, and another 45 minutes to get two dishes, steamed shrimp/veggie & shrimp lo mein. Consensus was chairs were very uncomfortable. One family of little kids running up and down the aisle the length of the restaurant. The management was very indifferent when I complained about how long our food was taking. "Sorry" doesn't cut it. Super yummy authentic Asian food in Syosset! Must try the pork fried rice, sushi, beef with vegetables and I absolutely love the crispy noodles with home made duck sauce. The restaurant is so beautiful, from when you pull into the parking lot to when you sit down at the tables. The ambience is just breathtaking. Came here for Lunar New Year with a group of friends. While the food was decent, service could have been a bit better. Our waiter took a long time to take our order even though we informed him we were ready. Entrees then took a long time to come out. Some items that were ordered never came out, even when they were reordered. When it was time to pay, we had a large amount of cash, and a card to be used. He was concerned what his tip was prior to taking the cash and the card. It is simple. Do the card for the specified amount, see what the total is left, apply the cash and then what's left is the tip. It left a sour taste in our mouth after the meal. To start I had egg drop wonton soup. There was some corn kernels in it. I don't understand why there's corn in egg drop wonton soup. It's very out of place and it's a filler. Flavor was just okay. Egg roll was tasty. For my entree I had Tri Cup Chicken. It had delicious flavor of ginger and garlic. Super yummy and I'm looking forward to my lunch tomorrow. Was really craving lunch and dumplings. And figured why not just try a lunch combo! $12 for the lunch special which came with sweet and sour chicken, wonton soup, and rice! The chicken was heavily battered, the sauce wasn't the best. The soup was nothing spectacular, but I do like that the noodle itself wasn't too thick. I like these wontons, (hence the 4th star) The dumplings were good and the sauce was also! Rice was great. I wish there was like a bean sprout, or carrot, or something in it rather than just peas onions and eggs. Would give 3.5, but I called directly for delivery and it was SO FAST! read more

The food and service here is 5 stars! People here are super nice and funny. The waiters are quick and attentive. I usually get seated right away on weekdays it can get a little busy on the weekends. A plus is they have parking. The decorations of this place is so nice. The place is pretty big. They have 2 sides and a variety on the menu. There is even a sushi bar and actual bar. My favorite is honey walnut shrimp and Peking duck. I usually come with my family and we order a couple of dishes. I order soup dumpling and pan fried dumpling when I'm craving it too! We've passed this place often and decided to finally give it a try. It's very nicely decorated and gives off an authentic Chinese ambiance. The servers and bus boys are all very nice and attentive. The food we ordered was all delicious. Highly recommend trying their soup dumplings. I've searched for good ones around New York and was almost about to give up until I found these. We also got hot and sour soups which were great. All their meat dishes tasted really fresh and flavorful. We ordered sesame chicken, general tsos, and the shredded beef with chiles. Another great meal here. Seafood soup was surprisingly good and came out piping hot. Lettuce wraps remind me of PF Chang's but less salty. Honey walnut shrimp was perfectly crunchy and not too sweet. Eggplants were not quite cooked enough but otherwise great. Dumplings were small and average taste. The only letdown was the mapo tofu. There was barely any meat and the sauce was off. Definitely not spicy enough and it was too sweet. Maybe something else too, I can't quite put my finger on it. Service was great except for the end when we had to flag someone down for the check. I went there with a friend who treated me for my birthday. My friend asked me to order since it was my birthday. I asked the waiter how is the Wauzhou spicy grilled fish ($55) and he said it's great. So we got it. It was drenched in sauce with a lot of things other than the fish. The fish was so small and not that fresh. We were both shocked that it was $55. I thought for $55, we'd get a huge, fresh fish like the one in the pic. Then, at the end of the meal, the waiter brought us two scoops of ice cream for my birthday - he said it was Häagen-Dazs. We were both pleasantly surprised that it was Häagen-Dazs. We tried it and it wasn't Häagen-Dazs. So, overall, it was a disappointing meal with a lying waiter, deceiving representation of the food and way over-priced fish. We were hungry and ordered lotsa stuff...For apps we got Soup Dumplings which were just ok..not alot of tasty broth. Also cold Sesame Noodles and Steamed Dumplings... I noted on the menu that they created fancy names for very ordinary dishes...beware because that simple act makes this place quite expensive for what they are giving you. For mains we had Generals Chicken , Mapo Tofu and two Shrimp dishes. I had Seafood Pan Fried Noodles..very little seafood..disappointed!...all dishes were good ..not great and were Small Portions!!! ..hardly able to share. Pricey restaurant. The food quality is good, however I feel that I can get the same quality and variety in Flushing at a cheaper price. The decoration of the place is beautiful and there are some cool gadgets in the bathroom. The chopsticks seemed to be high quality chopsticks as the tips can be thrown away and the wood body is well made and fancy. I would definitely not come back to this place because I can get the same quality and variety of food in Flushing as well. Our experience at MasterChef was horrible. Before we placed our order we noticed that one of our plates had left over gooey food still on it. When our ramen came it wasn't hot it was merely warm as if it was microwaved. The food that we ordered wasn't what the picture showed in the menu, and the server didn't even apologize for this mess. My mom has been coming here with her friends for quite some time so she was dying for all of us to try it. We had reservations so we were seated right away, and were asked for our drink order right away. Now since my mom comes in often and they know her I guess the service was outstanding lol, we ordered a bunch of food. Had 2 different pork belly apps, scallion pancakes, 3 pepper chicken, general tso and some huge fish dish. Everything was absolutely delicious and huge portions. We were able to take leftovers home because the dishes were huge. Overall, outstanding food and excellent service. I will be back to try more of the food here. read more

I should have trusted the reviews. I felt like it was just a nice decor Chinese restaurant. The prices are expensive and plates were small. The place is crammed so not much spacing between tables. The chicken dishes are all white meat. It is catered to non-Chinese, which was 90% of the customers when we were there. The most expensive fried rice was this golden fried rice and it is the yellow rice from take out. For $22, I expected something more. They served cheap Lipton tea. read more
