I grew up in Syosset and Timi Sushi is probably my go to sushi place for the price and food. They have great lunch specials such as 3 rolls for $15 which I love getting their sweet potato tempura, yellowtail, and tokyo but they have many to choose from. It also comes with either miso soup or a salad. My family also likes the salmon teriyaki bento box as well. The salmon has great flavor and it's a great portion for lunch. I asked for a shrimp temporal and they want to charge $15 for a shrimp tempura that absolutely has nothing in it. Normally whenever I get shrimp tempura rolls anywhere it comes with avocado, cucumber, and shrimp tempura they just added a fried shrimp and wrapped it around with white rice absolutely ridiculous and it's not even good. The shrimp tempura was extremely small and the shrimp was soggy. And then when I called back to ask about the shrimp tempura rolls, the lady that answer was kind of rude and she claims that they don't do shrimp tempura, and that it's called a different thing on the menu, but when I ordered it, I was never told that. Stopped in to order some sushi to go. I asked for the rainbow Naruto roll to be made with seaweed instead of cucumber and they were very accommodating. I also got a mango dragon roll, tuna roll. and a yellowtail scallion roll. Everything tasted pretty good, but I prefer solid pieces of fish instead of shredded chopped up pieces. For the price I'm paying, I think that Timi Sushi has to be the most affordable, fresh, and delicious sushi spot. I came for their lunch special where I ordered the chicken teriyaki bento box. I love how they do not skimp on the portions! It came with miso soup, salad, shumai, and a California roll. Everything tasted great. The service met my expectations where the server gave us our waters and took our order right away. The only thing I thought could've been better was if they checked in on us more and refilled our waters. Ambiance was very nice. Love the wooden interior and I came during a time when it wasn't busy. Tried this place for the first time as a friend recommended it. Ordered dinner online for pick up ASAP. Wide assortment of choices on the menu (if you have the take out menu or when looking online). Got 10% off (offer doesn't apply to lunch orders) - while the offer lasts. Estimated time was 40 minutes, but it was actually about an hour or so for 7 dinner items. Parking lot is small and shared with other stores in the same area. Staff is friendly and place looks new inside - spacious bar where sushi is made in front of you. Seating looked pretty spacious as well. Even though there was a little wait, the food was fresh and hot food stayed hot. Food separated between hot dishes and the cold items. Kudos for that especially the sashimi. All the dishes ordered were good: Bento boxes are a good deal - can pick 2 proteins. A lot of food and everyone was full - Bento box: Sashimi (10 pieces) and Shrimp teriyaki (oops I hit shrimp tempura on my order). Sashimi was fresh and delicious. Heard about this new and local sushi spot on Facebook. When I arrived, I didn't know indoor dining wasn't available...no big deal, take-out it is. I placed my order online and for pickup time I chose ASAP as I was already there. Once I placed my order and paid it said pick up time was in 60 minutes. 60 minutes?! I feel it should have said an approximate time for pickup before I checked out..but that's simply a website mishap. I ordered a miso soup, seaweed salad and two salmon rolls. Miso soup was basic. No wow factor. The seaweed salad was also underwhelming...and small. The container wasn't even filled and it was lacking flavor. It was very blah. The sushi was just okay as well. I ordered a crazy salmon roll and and a spicy twin salmon roll. After eating them, they are basically the same roll...just one has "crunch" and there's a $2 price difference. There wasn't any wow factor for me here. Just another sushi place in the area. Nothing wowed me. Nothing is really making me want to go back. Get your food to go. They are a busy restaurant which means the food is super fresh. Anything special? No. Basic but delicious? Yes. The food quality is fresh and clean. Everything was good tasting, but nothing had a wow factor. The only disappointment was the fried calamari. It looks nothing like the image on the menu, which was why I ordered it. It's been a while that I had this kind of service. Slow would be an understatement. I get that they are busy, but it was unfair. The table next to us spoke and ordered in Chinese and had a table full of food. I got my appetizer and then there was a lag... about 58 minutes to be exact. A long lag. My kids finally got their entrees, but sauce was forgotten for one entree and white rice was forgotten for the other. Fine, I'll ask for it Chinese instead of English. Waitress said she'll bring it out. we got our second appetizer about 15 minutes later. the rice and sauce for my kids entree did not arrive yet so I ask another waitress who brought it out in an instant. She must've forgot. Then our waitress comes back and goes "let me just double check with you, you got everything right?!" I'm like no, I got entrees. She goes oh. And goes and checks. She returns shortly with my sushi platter and then goes oh no, the chef gave you two extra pieces by accident. She picks up the platter she just puts down and brings it to the chef. She legit walks into the kitchen back to my table and then to the sushi bar to ask the chef. Like omg thank god it's sushi and cold, if it were a hot entree it would be cold by now. The chef explains because their usually size and quality isn't up to par so he gave the two extra pieces to make up for it... she brings it back, "oh there's two extra pieces but we won't charge you for it" no tack. I'm starving. Just put the platter down ffs. I haven't had this type of service in so long. Fucking disappointed. Fine, let me just get my extra food to go. She packs it, realizes she forgot the sauce at the table. I will bring a container for it, in the mean time I get the check, pay it, eat the free fruit platter, and she still hasn't brought a container for the sauce . This place is a hidden gem. It's super clean and neat on the inside. It's got a quiet and modern vibe. The bento box is absolutely elite, they offer you TWO entrees within the box. You can even get a sushi and sashimi entree and they're all $25. They don't include the tempura which is fine with me, I never liked the mushy broccoli or melon anyway. The service is super fast. Solid sushi in Syosset and a bit unassuming! It has nice decor and is definitely a bit more 'elevated' without having to go to a really nice place closer to the city. Quality-wise, it does offer better pieces with their Timi Sushi set, which I wouldn't say is quite Omakase but a better sushi dinner set at an extremely affordable price. You'll get toro in the mix even plus high quality fish. Again, not the top tier quality and sometimes their rice could be a bit vingery or hit/miss but it's pretty solid to get fresh fish. We've always sat at the bar but they have plenty of quaint booths for intimate parties and it's great ambiance with friendly service. read more

I have been ordering delivery from here and it is consistently delicious and timely. They are always very polite and friendly on the phone. We finally came for lunch and absolutely loved it. The ambiance is so beautiful, not like your typical LI Japanese restaurant. If you're looking for fresh fish then try Timi Sushi. I ordered the sashimi sushi combo and was surprised at how much food I got for only $30. A nice sized salad with very tasty ginger dressing and a platter of delectable fish. Five pieces of nigiri sushi and 15 pieces of sashimi as well as six pieces of tekkamaki. Need to go back to try some other dishes. A good Japanese restaurant will have good tempura. So I'll have to try their shrimp to be sure of their 4-star review. read more

Maybe you can do that with burgers but not sushi. Is it even health illegal to use saran wrap as a covering for delivery? As for the quality for the food, the pieces were 50% smaller but the price was 30% higher. I guess I'm going back to home made meals which is 110% better and 500% cheaper. Absolutely loved their Sawa Special Appetizer and based on the description of their Timi Special Appetizer, I ordered it and finally got my favorite dish again. I didn't take a picture. The Love Boat for 2 was more than enough for 2. Comes with soup, avocado salad and a small appetizer of tuna wrapped around a mayonnaise based filing and roe on top. read more

If you order take out from this restaurant, make sure you open the bags and check your order before you leave. There were problems with the last two orders I got. First time I asked for mayo on the California rolls; they gave me spicy mayo and my kid couldn't eat it. I had to go back and get another order. Today when I brought the order home the sashimi deluxe was missing. My husband had to go back and get it which is a pain. And there was no apology when we went back the second time.
