Quaint little sushi spot. Food was amazing. I especially enjoyed the Toro with caviar taco and the hamachi kama. Service was superb. I thought I wasn't going to be full with my order. However my server assured me it was plentiful; even had leftovers. Really appreciated that because from experience some establishments, they'd let you keep ordering. Will def be back! read more

I came here during lunch. The restaurant was very quiet with no other customers were having lunch here. I'm guessing it's because the location is hidden between nail salons and pilate studios and is not that obvious to the traffic driving by. I ordered the Shrimp Tempura and thought it was okay. Ordered take out last night and this place did not disappoint! We ordered Sushi for 2 which came with 20 nigiri sushi and 2 chef special rolls of your choice. Really liked that we were able to pick 2 rolls. The fish was incredibly fresh and quality was excellent. There was a good fish to rice ratio on the nigiri. It also came with 2 miso soups. It was nicely presented. This may be our new sushi spot to order from! read more

We went here twice in the 3 days we were visiting! I am SO excited about their Naruto rolls-which use cucumber ribbon as the wrapper and no rice. Generous pieces of fish! One of the best miso soups my son and I have ever had. Wonderful prices. Very attentive and patient waitress. Zen vibes with the white geometric patterned wall, tile, and dark wood tables and friendly yellow paint inside. Enjoyed the illuminated fish picture on the wall as well. We'll be back!! read more

We had an awesome meal on a Saturday night that really surpassed all of our expectations. I called ahead to ask if we could come in about 30 minutes. Sure, the nice woman said. The restaurant was about half full when we arrived and slowly filled almost completely. We ordered hot saki for two, a beer, and a lychee martini. Very good quality saki and my wife asked if they could tone down the sweetness of the martini which they did. For our little one they prepared some steamed broccoli and very delicious vegetable fried rice. To our surprise, she ate all of the green stuff and 90% of the rice. Impressive indeed. I ordered a soup to warm my bones and then we added some sashimi and the Japanese spring rolls. The spring rolls had a nice flaky crust that reminded me of a croissant and the flavor was very good. In the sashimi department, we had Uni from Japan (they offered two different types), red crab, scallops and some yellowtail. The freshness was very noticeable and we really enjoyed all. Mrs. me ordered the Toro Tacos and she raved about them- so much so, I had to have a bite and I agreed. I also order the rock shrimp tempura and thought the flavor was among the best I've had. The presentation and taste of the crazy toro roll was amazing. one of our favorites of the evening. Modern looking inside, The space does have one larger booth in the front of the restaurant that seems to fit at least eight people, while the last of the space has about a dozen tables that could each sit four. Along the right hand side as you enter and pass the hostess station, there is a bar with most of the basic liquors to make just about whatever you would want. Price for meal was not shocking for the level of service and the quality of the food. Paired with the clean and modern restaurant, it made for an enjoyable meal. read more

I stopped by and picked up my Uber Eats order as I was starving and craving Kani salad. Interestingly enough this location is one of very few sushi locations that have salad on the menu. I thought that was really interesting, but I struggled finding kani salad in Syosset. I also ordered the spicy crunchy tuna with shrimp roll, and it was incredible. The ingredients are very fresh and high-quality. I also topped off with vegetable gyoza which is one of my favorite appetizers and it was absolutely delicious. My food was ready by the time I came to pick it up and parking was super easy. I highly recommend this location to everyone. read more

Came here for lunch! I don't live in the area anymore but heard Plainview got a new sushi place, so I had to make my way by to try it. I had the lunch special, 3 rolls for $14 served with miso soup or salad. I had salad. The dressing was really good! For my rolls I had - Godzilla Roll - spicy tuna, deep fried with eel sauce and spicy Mayo - salmon with cucumber & avocado Roll - Yammy Roll- tuna, crab, avocado and tobiko All was delicious! Everything was so fresh and just..YUM! I really enjoyed everything. The Godzilla roll and Yammy roll came with 8 pieces! Normally for lunch special places only offer maki rolls which are 6 pieces. This is local hidden gem always serves the freshest fish. And the rice.. it's always perfectly seasoned and the grains of rice is never mushy and always has a nice bite. I generally get the lunch special. However we decided to get the valentine day special for $99. The hamachi collar was grilled to perfection. This is the equivalent of eating a fish rib and the meat was firm and moist. All of the fish in the sashimi and the bento box was extremely high quality and melt in your mouth delicious! Does not look exciting from the outside. Ambiance is minimal. Sushi is fresh & offerings are creative. Price & size of each dish are what you would expect. Friendly staff. Krispy Rice was one of our favorites. Waygu Nori tacos were small but tasty. Sapporo & Sake available. Decent amount of dessert options. Parking is free and the lot is big. This sushi blew me away. I love finding a new sushi spot to try. The rock shrimp tempura was just okay, you did get a lot of pieces. The BBQ said roll was my fave. I never had anything like it before. It's a whole piece of bbq squid essentially stuffed with crabmeat and fully covered in their special sauce. The fantastic and big kahuna were also really good. They definitely make them with care. We sat at the sushi bar and they were very nice. OMG Alert. Just had 2 Uni Tacos at Kinben Sushi. It is seaweed formed in a taco with rice, Uni, a raw quakes egg, and topped off with black caviar. Can you say in ecstasy? Not sure why this place is always empty when we pick up during weekend dinner time. The sushi is fresh and the rice to fish ratio is perfect. The quality of the fish are not the typical tuna and salmon alone and they include other unique pieces that are wonderful. The staff is friendly and if you order online it's 10% off. I normally get the sushi sashimi for 2 and other pieces. Unlike other places (I used to favor Kotobuki), KinBen includes quite a bit of toro pieces in their sushi sashimi entree. They certainly don't skim on quality. I'm just surprised this place is never packed. KinBen is fantastic and it is now my new favorite sushi on Long Island. read more

Parking lot is big. We went at around 7:30 for dinner, and the place was not packed at all. They do have high quality fish and sushi rice. The waitresses are extremely attentive and friendly. I also got chicken tempura for appetizer, the chicken is very juicy. 10/10. However I think this place is pricey. You can absolutely get same quality for less $ at other places. read more

Heard lots of good things about this place so wanted to give it a try. Restaurant was nice and clean, with friendly servers and staff. It is your typical sushi restaurant. The fish was great, I enjoyed my meal and so did my family. My one complaint is, I ordered the sushi and sashimi for 1. Priced at $35 it comes with 12 pieces of sashimi, 5 pieces of sushi and a salmon roll. What was placed in front of me was 12 pieces of sashimi, 5 pieces of sushi and a California roll. I called the waitress over and said "isn't this supposed to come with a salmon roll" and she said it was a "choice". Mind you, when I ordered I was not asked if I wanted a salmon or California roll. They changed the roll out hoping I wouldn't notice I'm sure, but I did. Will I be coming back? Probably not. read more

They opened for 3 months ago (new owners in the sushi restaurant). Everyone greeted us and was super friendly. My husband had special requests as he does not like certain fish and they were so accommodating. $75 for omakase, absolute gem. My only recommendation is to torch some toro and wagyu pieces right before serving. My wagyu was slightly drier/cold as if it was prepared some time ago, other than that, every piece was fresh and flavorful. It's rare to have good omakase on Long Island so it's definitely our new spot! read more

Literally outstanding top of the line authentic Japanese sushi. Aiden the chef made every dish with such pride and care. The food is unbelievably delicious. Aiden took the time to show us the beautiful toro and explain the cuts which was a great experience. Our waitress Summer's service was impeccable. I am a sushi snob, have been to most popular Sushi restaurants in NYC and have also been to Japan more than a few times. Japanese cuisine is definitely my favorite. Moved out here to Plainview few years ago and have been searching for a go to Sushi restaurant in Long Island.... happy to say I have found it and the best part is that its in my town!! Stumbled upon this place on Grand opening day and believe I was the first customer! have now been dinning here on a weekly basis. Kinben has the best and freshest Sushi in LI. besides the typical Tuna/salmon/yellow tail they have special menu items each day! This is SUSHI!! Legit sushi on the island. We came here to celebrate valentine's day and this place did not disappoint. Honestly, only one of the few places on the island that has all the unique high end fishes e.g. Uni, Wagyu. They even have omakase which is impressive. We enjoyed their chef special rolls, BBQ Squid and Cracked Uni Roll. Highly recommend those. read more

I got the three classic roll lunch special, which comes with a can of soda or soup. I got the shrimp tempura, salmon avocado, and spicy tuna rolls with a side of miso soup. I live pretty close to the store but had never been before. The inside looked neat and clean. It's not an upscale place, but you could tell that their kitchen was being kept nicely and was organized. At the price point, the sushi was pretty good. The spicy tuna roll was probably the most disappointing, but only because I like my spicy tuna spicy and saucy. There were a lot more crumbs in the mix than the spicy mayo and tuna. The shrimp tempura was fried really nicely, crispy but not so greasy that it made the whole roll gross. My favorite out of the lot was the avocado salmon roll, which came with good quality salmon and generous amount of avocado for creaminess. The miso soup was really surprising because there was a layer of sesame oil. It's not traditional miso soup, felt more like a wonton soup or seaweed soup. But I did enjoy it. Overall, it really was a great price for the lunch special. The portions were generous. I didn't get anything fancy, but the raw salmon quality was good. Rolls were not overpacked with rice. I would return again to try other rolls and sets from the lunch special menu!
