Visited 3 times. The restaurant is becoming a favorite for sushi. The food is fresh, the atmosphere is lively and the staff is helpful. The rolls are wonderfully paired and visually appealing. The only downside is it's a popular place and many bring their uncontrollable children, or loud teens gathering. The restaurant does try their best to separate the potentially loud groups away from those that would like to enjoy the food. Happy hour here is great, great prices and friendly staff. The bites and some sushi at happy hour are great and they include short rib and other apps also. Deff got a little to buzzed, need to learn my tolerance is way less than what it was . Good music and a dope crowd at the bar made it an actually very time. Came here for Happy Hour and it was wonderful! Happy hour is between 4:30-6:30 during the week. There is a special happy hour menu, which has enough selections. Must sit at bar or high tops , which is fine! Service was excellent . Food was fresh and well made. Prices were essentially 25% reduced but a good value. Was pretty busy on a Thursday night. If you remember Benihana; you know what to expect here. This weekend, there seemed to be a lot of birthday parties for preteen children. They seem to enjoy the floorshow, the chef puts on. The food here was great! We came here around 2pm for a weekday lunch, and we got notified that their kitchen was closing soon (since they close at 3 to prepare for dinner), which we didn't know about. But I'm glad that they told us so we weren't confused if we had to order more food later. The inside was decorated very nicely, with high ceilings and light fixtures that made it look elegant and fancy. Our waiter was alright, and the 3 of us ordered the Angry Dragon roll to share, the chicken hibachi, shrimp and chicken hibachi, and the lunch box. The lunch box included 6 ish pieces of California roll, which is a lot in my opinion, miso soup or salad, and an "appetizer" and main selection option. I opted for the salmon teriyaki for my main, but you can also get a roll or spring rolls for your main. I also got the pork gyoza for the "app", but you can get edamame or shrimp shumai as other choices. The lunch box came in a huge bento style container with an abundance of food. Very worth it for the price in my opinion. Everything was very good, except for the salmon teriyaki and vegetables which needed a bit more salt and flavor. The angry dragon roll was delicious, however, and it looked splendid too. The rolls are bigger than most places and it's packed with avocado and tuna. The hibachi lunch portions were also very good. I'm a little naive or inexperienced when it comes to hibachi. I mean I've been to Benihana a million times, but some might say that's not legit compared to other places that might be a little less chain-y. Enter Miko Sushi & Hibachi which has a much stronger chokehold on the world of cooking right in front of you. For starters, Miko has a lot to offer beyond the hibachi table. Their regular dining area was bustling when I came last month for my buddy's birthday. The place had some nice style to it and felt like a level up from many other establishments of similar cuisine. Even the bathroom sink was unique! But let's leave the lavatory for now and return to what's most important: hibachi action. I'll say that any excitement at Benihana has been nonexistent the last bunch of times I have been there with the chef just going through the motions when cooking and doing all his tricks. At Miko, I couldn't tell if every chef was as enthusiastic as ours, but dang was this guy fun. You could tell he was enjoying throwing food (zucchini pieces) and drink (sake from a squirt bottle) into our mouths, though he also just seemed to be that kind of loving life guy. Perhaps some might have found him a little too over the top (the fake squirt bottle he pretended to shoot in my friend's wife's face seemed to result in mixed reviews), but knowing that hibachi is often a bit of a show, I was all for it. I was also all for their grub which tasted pretty darn delicious. My hibachi combo of filet mignon and chicken was cooked perfectly and the fried rice and veggies on the side were also tasty. The combo came with a choice of soup or salad, though I do like that at Benihana you often get both with your meal. A small downer (that and the regular service was a little slow/forgetful), but everything else was spot on. Overall, Miko is definitely several steps above a place like Benihana (sorry, old friend). It's got the ambiance, the interaction, and the food to make this true. A few small factors kept me away from giving five stars, but I'd gladly return to Plainview (or perhaps the slightly-closer-to-me location in Northport) to see how far this hibachi can go. read more

I have never been here but was meeting a friend and we decided to try this place. I did not know it had been around for a while. We walked in and were immediately greeted with lively conversations from the groups seated by the bar. There was plenty of seating so we asked for a table further away. It is a fairly large space with an entire section in the back for hibachi. Friend and I ordered the edamame, rock shrimp and a salmon avocado roll to share. We each ordered the sake flight and tri-color sashimi with a bowl of brown rice on the side. The edamame came out piping hot and plentiful. The rock shrimp was larger than I have had at other places. The sake flight had 3 different types of cold sake, ranging from a classic taste to a little fruity. Each tasting was 2 ounces and plenty to enjoy with our meal. The show stopper was the tri-color sashimi. It came out beautifully presented. Each piece of sashimi was bigger and thicker than i have seen elsewhere. Needless to say, i did not finish my meal and brought half of the sashimi home for hubby to try. The only miss was they forgot the salmon avocado roll which was fine because we were full. When we pointed it out, they took it off the bill but I guess it would have been nice if they didn't forget it to begin with. I will go to hibachi spot in the area. Well, it can get a little crowded in a bit busy at times, especially during the weekends, we still love it. We have celebrated many of birthdays here and continue to go back over all the food is very good and the service is pretty much what you'd expect from a hibachi spot. Came here after work on new years eve for dinner and it was amazing! The place was nicely lit, tables, and area was clean. we were greeted immediately by a server and got a delicious drink! For appetizer we got the calamari and edamame. the calamari came with a sweet chili sauce and spicy mayo! both were to die for with the crispy calamari. The edamame was soft and well salted. For dinner I just did a special roll, I think it was the dragon roll, I am not too sure but it consisted to shrimp tempura wrapped in a soy wrapper. Definitely will be coming back here for more!!!! Came here for a weekday lunch and was pleasantly surprised to find this restaurant in a strip mall. You walk in and it's a nice/fancy decor with a full bar, table seating and hibachi tables in the back. The restaurant was pretty busy for lunch so that was taken as a good sign. We were actually there for hibachi and so they lead us to the back. We were a bit surprised that we were the only ones yet they still offered to serve us, which we appreciated. We ordered the scallop/shrimp combo and the strip steak. It came with fried mushroom soup, fried rice, veggies and our proteins. The soup was warm and tasty, the fried rice was great but perhaps a tad salty, veggies were solid and the proteins were large and cooked well. Overall, the portion size was large and we left quite full. However, we weren't too fond of the sauces they offered. They had some ginger sauce, which was the best, some creamy mayo sauce and sriracha (not Red Rooster brand). The creamy mayo sauce just didn't work with any of the components in my opinion. Overall, we left full and satisfied and would consider coming back for hibachi. The service was overall pleasant; however, it did take them a while to take our orders after initially sitting us. Walking by the other tables, the sushi rolls looked really good so I'd be curious to see how they are next time. read more

We've had pokebowls many times so tried the lunch Hibachi today. $14-18 for 1 protein; $18-$19 for combo of 2 proteins. Each meal comes with a choice of soup or salad, choice of rice (inc. fried rice) and vegetables. Noodles instead of rice for addtl $. A big positive was the food was cooked well. The chef listened when I asked for less sauce so my strip steak was not salty. My husband's scallops were good- cooked with butter and lemon, still soft and not dry. The salmon in a combo came with a piece of salmon. Area is very clean. Our chef was less animated than the neighbor chef. What is in the baby bottle the other chef was offering? Only zucchinis tossed to us - I actually caught one. Our volcano onion was tiny. Can be more entertaining. (We had a negative experience at another restaurant during dinnertime, where the chef was entertaining but all the food were overcooked, even burnt, and too salty to eat. This place has a very appealing interior and the one employee I met seemed very sweet. Decided to check it out for lunch special take out. Ordered the two roll combo which came with choice of soup or salad and 2 rolls. Roll selection is pretty good, better than other places. Soup you actually get a choice of miso or lemongrass hot and sour. Went with the lemongrass soup. Flavor was there, nice heat with combination of sweet. Main problem with the soup was it's all just broth with a few shreds of carrot. Good flavor but poorly composed. The rolls were delicious. Paid the extra dollar to get them with black rice. That added an extra layer of depth to the flavor. Fish was fresh as far as I could tell. Verdict is: will be coming back, maybe skipping the soup but sushi is on point. read more

My daughter back from college was craving tempura ice cream. The only time we've had it before was at an AYCE sushi place which was the last resort. Looked here for reviews and restaurants that offered and came across their dessert menu. We decided to come here for lunch and it did not disappoint. It is located in a large shopping center with plenty of parking. It had booth seating for sushi in the front and hibachi in the back of the restaurant with very nice decor. She had the 2 roll lunch special. I had the chicken teriyaki special and was pleasantly surprised by the size of the chicken breast. My husband had the the salmon teriyaki special. They were all very good. For dessert we shared the tempura ice cream and the tempura cheesecake and they were excellent. She was very happy! Service was friendly and efficient. Miko - for Plainview, this is a great spot. Hibachi, sushi, overall asian food is pretty good. I think my review should be a 3.5 but my last visit made me opt for 3 stars over 4. Service isn't spectacular.. sometimes its good sometimes it's a bit rushed. We ordered Spicy tuna gyoza -- decent, I don't love this but my friend did Crispy oysters -- I like this, it's a nice presentation and yummy in the butter sauce Karagee -- normally so good cause they come out fresh and hot, but didn't feel like that this time around Rock n roll -- wasn't a fan, tasted more like shrimp tempura than rock shrimp (and I've had this roll before) Spicy crunchy salmon -- didn't love but didn't hate White sangria here is pretty sweet so I opted for the marg which was more aligned with what I like. When we arrived at the table a family of 5 was already seated which was nice but, we felted very rushed by the waitress who wanted us to decide quickly on which cocktails & dinner orders to be placed. She never came back to find out if we wanted more drinks or refill water. At the end of dinner we waited a very long time to give us the check. We ordered here for my son's first birthday. It was very easy to place an order over the phone and our platter was ready within 30 or so minutes. We got the medium party platter which consists of 9 classic rolls (your choice), 5 signature special rolls (your choice), and 15 sushi (chef's choice) for $129. Delicious and fresh! So satisfying. I love that they don't give use a lot of rice on the rolls. For the signature rolls I recommend the angry dragon roll, crazy tuna roll, and the colorful roll. We also ordered the yaki udon with angus beef - that was just okay. All this fed 6 adult and 2 school age children, and we even had leftovers! Can't wait to find an excuse to order from here again. This business needs to have sensitivity training for it employees. I've never personally experienced systematic subtle racism directly in my life until last night. I had a 7:00-7:15 pm reservation. My party and A White family of four were seated at the same station. We waited about 50 minutes after being seated, only after the wife of the other family complained to management that we actually got our Hibachi Chef. My family felt neglected with the wait staff because our water glasses were never refilled, while our White family got there glasses filled on site once their water was drank. One waiter who's name was Frank made sure the other family had fresh condiments without asking. The other waitresses pointed and privately giggled in the corner at my daughter in law and my Grandson who is of mixed heritage. (Chinese). The only reason I kept my composure is Because It was Scooty's 8th Birthday Dinner Celebration with Family & Friends. (My Grandson Is A Special Needs Child) It gets worse, the Hibachi Chef who prepared the food paid more attention & gave larger portions of the stir- fry to the White family. (They had so such they had them throw out the leftovers). Mind you I ordered the more costly Fillet mignon with shrimp. While the other family was steak with chicken. The Hibachi Chef did the volcano with the onion and the tossed broccoli in the mouth. Remember the word subtle. I was never asked if I wanted any of the dipping sauces. Finally after the Hibachi Chef was finished and the White husband tipped him $10.00. He looked at me. I said " I don't tip extra to be treated like a second class citizen" not once did you offer me anything resembling above & beyond reasonable service. I asked the waiter Frank why was my dinner party being subjected to such despicable and totally unacceptable behavior coming from a service provider establishment. I took a photograph of my plate and Mr. Frank. I paid the check which included a $40.00 tip to be treated like garbage. I spent $250.00 + tip of $290.00. My friends know I'm like the best tipper in our group when we have luncheons and dinners at other places. When we got seated our waitress was attentive and made sure we were settled in ok and gave us time to look through the menu. Came back a few time to check if we wanted more drinks. Met two friends and sat outside. The music playing was awful. Would it hurt to play some Japanese music to set a nice mood? Instead there was this---thump---thump---thump--of rap. Beats me why. This was an older crowd. Asked to have sushi made with brown rice. Was told that would be an extra $1.00 per order. Really folks. A bowl of rice is pretty cheap and how much goes into a sushi roll anyway? Plus nowhere on the menu does it say there is an extra charge. The waitress then started telling us it's on the menu used inside and every place charges extra. She would not budge. Solid 4 Star, I am so happy to finally have found a Japanese restaurant in the area to replace my former favorite that has not yet re-opened to sit down dining. Both our entrees were delicious, the service was attentive but not overbearing. All ingredients tasted fresh and cooked to perfection. I enjoyed the Chilean Sea bass/Short Rib combo, tasty, yet I probably would order filet next time, short rib still with bone attached was difficult to eat with chopsticks. Visited last night, 630PM hibachi reservation. I was very excited as this was my first visit & a favorite spot for my friend. We were sat on time & our orders were taken for drinks & food promptly. The hibachi area was crawling with scantily clad young girls, three hibachi tables full of them. They were celebrating a 10 year old's birthday, seemingly with limited to no supervision. The girls spent over an hour traveling in packs to and from the restroom, conveniently located next to our hibachi table. The dining room was filled with their shrieks & screaming back and forth to one another. I have never been inside of an establishment that allowed other patrons to suffer through this type of behavior/environment. This behavior was exhibited for 90% of our 90 minute stay. The other side of our table was a group of unsupervised preteens. Miko seemed much more like a daycare than a restaurant for adults. This experience could have been better if things had progressed in a timely fashion. The soups & salads were brought to the table at 6:53PM. Twenty full minutes of children screaming all around us prior to receiving any food. The hibachi chef arrived sometime after 7PM & was gone in less than 50 minutes. The quality of the food was above average but the wait time for food and drinks was astronomical. Furthermore, allowing guests to walk/run/scream through a dining room does not create an enjoyable experience for any one. I would never pay money to have an experience like this again.
