The worst customer service. It's my fault for giving them a second chance. I would give it 0 stars if I could. I ordered 4 BBQ Noodle soup dishes and once I brought it home, no BBQ pork. Just noodles. I call back and the audacity of the woman to say "we busy so what??" You kidding me? No remorse, no trying to apologize for their negligence. Then she proceeded to speak to me in Cantonese like I would understand what the heck you're saying. Maybe you're rude in your culture but get it together! Came back for a weekday dinner. And wow they didn't disappoint. Ordered fried dumplings nice and big, chicken lettuce wrap with hoisin sauce delicious and tasty. For dinner ordered the shrimp with crispy walnut and the happy family which has shrimp, scallops, roast pork and chicken and vegetables. Everything came out fresh and hot. This is where we go when we want quick and easy Chinese, especially dim sum! Everything is pretty solid in flavor. We've made the trip out to flushing, queens for what we thought would be better dim sum but the traffic and time it takes is not worth it when we have perfectly delicious dim sum in our backyard. read more

Food is very good overall however zero concern for coronavirus protocol and its patrons. I was just there past weekend for Dim Sum and the row of tables to my left had two parties of 4 seated right next to each other, no partition and literally a foot apart from each other. I mentioned to one of the employee there about the blatant disregard for "my" health and he looked at me with a dazed look, shrug his shoulder and went about his business. Probably more like 3.5, but I'll round it up since I don't know if any of the issues were caused by a 20 minute drive home. Got 3 orders for takeout. Salt and pepper squid, salt and pepper porkchop and fish filet w/ bean curd casserole. Im deducting 1 star because the website menu must be old. Each dish was almost $2 more than shown on the site. Also, I wish they added holes in the top of the container for the squid. By the time I got it in the car, they were already soggy. At least the flavor was excellent. 3.5/5 (might be a 5/5 if eaten in the restaurant and is hot and crispy.. will have to try eating in one day) The porkchops were a bit on the tough and slightly dry side, probably a little overcooked. 3/5 Fish filet was really tasty. To be honest, I was a bit skeptical when I moved into the area that this would be authentic Cantonese food so it took me some time to try. However, tried it one day since it's close for lunch, had a noodle and some dim sum options and was pleasantly surprised. Since then I've made multiple trips, as well as takeout orders and have been happy every time. Their dim sum is delicious and indeed authentic, and their traditional Cantonese dishes are flavorful and just how they should be. Stand outs are the Peking pork (pork chops w sauce) and beef chow fun - which you know is authentic once you taste it! The space is a mix of round tables and booths and their staff is friendly and speaks multiple languages from English, mandarin and Cantonese. read more

Dim Sum officially ends at 3pm, so we had to hurry and order whatever we wanted from a menu. No push carts at this time. Their dim sum menu had lots to offer. We ordered a bunch of various items, and everything came out fresh and tasty. Definitely not as good as the dim sum in Flushing, but for Long Island, Orient Odyssey was great! Service was very friendly. I speak Cantonese, so ordering was not a problem but the wait staff spoke English, so I don't really think anyone would have a problem ordering. I have been to this place a few times and I have not reviewed it because I was just so on the fence about how I feel about the place. They have good food. Not outstanding, but better than a typical American Chinese restaurant. My issue with the place is the options on the menu. If you want to try some different dishes for dinner, it is very expensive. Got a menu in the mail noting their anniversary along with a few coupons one for delivery at 10% and one for eat in at 15%. On this rainy Saturday we ordered 1 hr before they closed for delivery . The man did deliver with in 25 minutes and all that we ordered were enclosed. He did also ask for and take the small paper coupon that I ripped off the paper menu. The woman on the phone who took the order did review it to add the chicken on the sticks that she had missed. She noted that different menus had different coupons. Note/Tip do make sure you mention a coupon you have. The chicken on a stick had a spice that I didn't care for. I did like how The duck soup was packed with broth in one plastic container and separate meat noodles and greens in another. As we reviewed the menu thoroughly we ordered a combo meal of hot and sour chicken with rice and egg roll instead of these individual items. The cheese crabmeat wontons had so much crust on the outside before getting to the cheese. They gave us ample sauces of different kinds along with a 2 packets of duck sauce , 1 of mustard and a 3 or 4 individual soy packets. Food is decent but extremely disappointed with terrible service experienced. One of our dishes ordered was a fried salt-and-pepper squid. At my second piece, there were plenty of play-doh like clearly uncooked flour dough coming out from the squid (see attached picture). Since the texture was gross, I asked a wait staff member there about what that is and whether it is edible. The answer I got was "Yes it is flour" ensued by silence. I then had to ask again "Is it edible? is it cooked?" since the teture felt really gross and it wasn't warm. The wait staff replied "Maybe it is just too thick". Another more senior female staff came over and basically repeated the whole encounter. At the end I just decided to let it be and move on since this is clearly not getting anywhere. Then it comes the worst part. After that, even I said never mind since they're not listening, they just left that 3 giant play-doh like dough on my plate as shown in the attached picture, FOR THE ENTIRE REST OF THE MEAL. All it could have taken was them to say "this is undercooked, I will let the chef know" and take the plate away. Rather than the "yes it is raw, but so? don't eat it then" kind of conversation. Food is decent but there are plenty of better place to go without having to endure this kind of service. Me and my extended family are frequent customers of this place (dine in and takeout) but this would be the last of it. Since I am a frequent, I even reached out to the page on yelp hoping to let the manager know about this issue before posting review, but there has been no response for many days so I assume they don't care. Sometimes they give us coconut jelly after dinner too as a little dessert with the bill My favorite dish is the pork rice noodle. A good dinner entree is also the seafood casserole. Sometimes I go two days in a row if I have the free time and am craving. I try to bring my friends here too and they always enjoy it hehe. During Covid19 there isn't much options with home delivery but this place still hustling and you can tell by the owner himself always presence there watching over quality control. Given that the few Chinese food options around me have all come in to be pretty mediocre, I was a little hesitant to try this place. However, I must say, they are my favorite in the area. The food isn't as authentic as Chinatown, but it's a close replacement where I was able to get my fix without feeling disgusting from all the extra MSG and oil that is used at some other restaurant in the area. Really not much else to say other than this will be our new go to place when the Chinese food craving hits. My only complaint is the prices - pretty expensive, especially for the size of the dish, but if it's your only option, you can't complain. read more

Orient Odyssey is located conveniently off of the LIE in a shopping center in Jericho. We went on a Sunday afternoon and found the dining room to be packed with diners. Most of the tables here accommodate 2 to 4 diners although I saw some larger tables. The owners here really maximize the space here. So much so, that it feels like a NYC restaurant. In terms of size, the rectangular dining room isn't that large. The specialty at Orient Odyssey is dim sum and Cantonese food. We came for the dim sum and weren't disappointed. We had several dim sum and the ones that stood out were: 1. Har Kow (These were larger than normal.) 2. Zha Fun Kor (These fried doughy balls were so crisp on the outside and chewy on the inner skin. So good!) 3. Sticky Rice wrapped in leaves (These were larger than normal and had plenty of meat filling) In the end we ordered some Yang Chow Fried rice which was nice and savory. As for service, there were dim sum carts that circulated but we didn't see many coming our way because we were sitting by the window in front of the restaurant. By the time the carts got to us, almost all the dim sum were gone or never made it to our table. The restaurant tried to mitigate this situation by sending over waiters with dim sum on large handheld trays that circulated to the far reaches of the dining room. I appreciated the effort, but felt that it would have been better if their rolling carts were stocked with more food to begin with, especially on a weekend lunch rush. We felt our waiters did a good job with taking our orders and requests. Their effort to take care of each table showed, especially with their fast walking! Its been awhile since I last dined here...which was intentional! see previous review. Went with friend to try the "new" orient Odyssey for lunch. The place looks the same but big difference is the staff. Tommy actually took the time to come and welcome us and say its been a long time. Our waiter spoke perfect English a big plus so now communication and correct order taking was not a problem. Now to the food: My friend ordered a lunch chicken special that was like Generals Chicken with veggies...cooked crisp and delicious. i ordered Dim Sum: Chicken Feet- Very tender and tasty Rice Noodle stuffed with shrimp Beef Tripe- Terrible...served practically raw with no sauce. Should be stewed to tenderize and be served in a sauce for taste. Came here for dim sum with my family and was pleasantly surprised. Normally you don't find good dim sum places on longisland but this is up there. They don't seem to have the tradition ladies pushing the carts and have people walking around with plates. The wait is not too bad if you get there early. Food is ok. I am giving two stars due to the fact the food is VERY greasy. The egg rolls are saturated. They must deep fry them twice to cook the first time and reheat the second time. Also, the noodles were so greasy, they saturated the two brown bags I used to try and drain them better after removing from the grease soaked wax bags they are originally packed in. I would suggest they buy a commercial air fryer and replace the unhealthy, non edible greasy foods they have now. I would not even bite into that food and not because I am such a health nut.... but because I was scared I would have gotten an upset stomach... that's how much grease I am talking about. Came here for dinner today. I've been to the Bethpage location for Dim Sum before and it was enjoyable. We were seated quickly when we came in. The tables are pretty comfortable and sizable, so that's good. The atmosphere of the restaurant was pretty clean and chilling, so that was good as well. Our service throughout the evening was excellent; waiters were attentive and the main guy who took our order seemed eager to please. So I got the dinner entree called 'Chicken with Brown Sauce'. You have a choice of which vegetables it is cooked with; I chose string beans and eggplant ($13.99). It came out nice and hot and the portion size was certainly substantial. It came with a small bowl of rice. The dish had very good flavor. Best way I can describe it is to imagine you're ordering chicken and broccoli at a crappy Chinese Takeout, but the quality is much higher. Dish was pretty salty, but not as gooey and useless as what you'd get at a takeout place. Eggplant was bursting with all the sauce and flavor it absorbs in the dish, and chicken had a solid, firm texture. Overall, I enjoyed my meal. The factor that brings down the rating is price. $14 is pretty steep for what I had. For that price, they should at least provide you with unlimited rice or something. The bowl of rice was TINY and additional rice costs $1.50 a bowl. Definitely can't respect the fact that extra rice, a drink, and tax/tip would push this meal over the $20 mark. We were out on the Island to see a college fair for my brother when we decided to meet some relatives for dinner here before heading home. They had been here multiple times with good things to say so I was looking forward to trying some good Chinese food. I need to say that I'm a fan of any Chinese restaurant where you can actually sit and eat. Even though for the most part the quality is the same as takeout, there's something about sitting and eating that just makes it taste better. We ordered a variety of dishes and shared; the shredded pork in garlic sauce was good - I liked that they had big chunks of veggies and the sauce had nice flavor without being too salty. The egg roll was a little too greasy for me - I know it comes with the territory but it still was a bit of a turnoff. My favorite was the tangerine chicken - the chunks of poultry were a good size and the broccoli it was served with was crispy; extra points for using all white meat chicken! Solid Chinese cuisine overall - Orient Odyssey definitely has some standout dishes that place them slightly above typical takeout. I DID NOT want to get food there at all bc of the girl's attitude but my boyfriend insisted we go since we were almost there anyway. When we entered there was only one family dining at the restaurant. Needless to say, it was not busy at all.. so there was absolutely no reason for the hostess to be in such a rush, so impatient, extremely RUDE, and unwilling to answer our questions about our order. I could be sympathetic if the place was swamped and she was distracted but that was not the case. I was a hostess at a restaurant when I was studying at my university and I handled numerous phone calls during high hours and not once did I treat our customers the way she treated me. We asked to see the manager and he came to take our order and was willing to modify the TWO things in our order bc I had dietary allergies. We were charged an extra $1.50 for veggie friend rice bc (from the manager's own mouth) they had pre-made pork fried rice and would have to make fresh veggie fried rice. We were so tired from wasting our time at the place that we just ordered the food, paid, and got out of there as fast as possible. The inside of the place was large and was decorated with cheap Chinese lanterns that were just taped to the ceiling. As soon as you entered you saw a wall and the hostess stand was facing the tables and not the entrance.. which seems to be a sign of the unwelcoming staff. There was a group of servers and kitchen workers sitting at a back table eating and talking. I haven't been dining out much since Covid and I have not had any Chinese food for over three years so I've been wanting to get some but couldn't decide what restaurant to go to. Orient Odyssey always seemed busy--there was a line out the door one recent Sunday afternoon and always had a pleasing aroma when I walked past so I decided one Saturday afternoon to go there and the experience and food was five star perfect!! The restaurant was packed so I decided to take the food home. The lunch special was a very reasonable 10.25 and we ordered chicken with mixed Chinese vegetables which included a egg roll and white rice for me and fried rice and wonton soup for my wife. When someone told me this place had bad reviews I asked was it the food or the service cause I've gone to places with rude waiters but the food slapped so I gave it the benefit of the doubt... I really wished that was the case. Being on the island I had already lowered expectations considerably but one taste and I can't even say the food was mid. You can tell a lot about a dimsum place just by their shu mai and I can go to 99 ranch... buy the frozen shumais... cook them myself... Drop them on the floor... Fight my dog for whatever pieces I can salvage...and they would still taste better. We also ordered a chicken pan fried noodle and it took over a half hour and multiple inquiries for it to finally come out. We complained that the table next to us who sat after us got their dish faster and their response was "they had a different dish.. it takes longer to cook pan fried noodles." How the h... I mean I'm no Gordon Ramsey.... Hell I'm not even Uncle Roger... But I don't think it takes over 30 minutes to make chicken pan fried noodles... So to answer my question earlier... It's both... The food and the service are both terrible... I take back every bad thing I've said about fortune wheel. The only thing this place slapped is your face if anyone ever suggest this place to me again. I stopped in for lunch after shopping next door at Marshalls. I never had their dim sum and was a little hesitant to stop in. I saw they had the dim sum carts so I figured it must be legit. The food is not all that great. I think maybe 1 out of 3 dim sum was good and everything else was below par. I like their beef tripe and carrot cake. Don't get anything with shrimp and egg rolls. If the color doesn't seem right it probably doesn't taste right. I'll probably skip this location for dim sum. read more
