Food - 2 stars Shrimp with chili garlic sauce tastes like ketchup, sugar and bamboo shoots.. unfortunately the sauce smelled off and bought out the fishiness of the shrimp. Shrimp was decently cooked. Beef ho fun- the lady gave me the wrong order. It was supposed to be a beef noodle soup. The beef was relatively tender. Overall this was ok, a little on the sweet side. It also didn't have the char you would experience from a dish cooked on a wok. Shrimp with honey walnut sauce - the shrimp was heavily battered and the coating fell off as I was biting it. In addition I think the shrimp was microwaved and refried as I saw one of the ladies microwaving something that seemed like the fried shrimp. The shrimp ended up being too chewy and rubbery. The walnuts were actually stale too. Ambiance looks like a standard Chinese take out restaurant, it's definitely geared towards people who prefer a sweeter taste. The best part of my dinner was the Jasmine rice - it was fragrant and perfectly cooked. This is a one and done for me. Although I think if you were to try a beef and broccoli, it might be ok. I actually had visited a similar establishment in Kew Gardens Hills with the same logo some 25 years ago in a shopping center at Union Turnpike and Main Street. Very surprised to find a Chinese food takeout spot with a high rating! I have been to this place numerous times now and have not been disappointed. Food is always great. I highly recommend the wontons or dumplings in hot sesame sauce. I have not seen this anywhere else and that sauce is dynamite! Everything else is your standard menu. King Wok has some very decent food. Like most of the other take out joints in the area It caters to the American palate. I've tried quite a variety of dishes here over the past few years and have never been dissatisfied. I really like their wonton soup......the wontons are small, delicate with a thin skin, unlike other places where all you taste is dough. Their steamed dumplings are also a little different from other places in the area. They don't have much seating so it's primarily take out only. My coworker and I were craving Chinese as we both had not had it in a while. After going to 2 locations that are no longer in business (bummer) we "Yelped" and found King Wok. (-) The woman (older, mid 40's) was not happy to have customers (+) They had good lunch special options that came with a beverage of your choosing (-)After ordering we went to sit and the chairs were dirty, instead of cleaning the area the younger woman gave me a napkin and watched me wipe the seats! (+) The food was ready in no time and looked delicious (-) Our food was served on foam plates! (+) It hit the spot and satisfied our craving. We ordered chicken and broccoli with garlic sauce, shrimp and black bean sauce, and scallion pancakes here the other night and everything was pretty good. The chicken and broccoli was a decent serving side. There was a good chicken to broccoli ratio and the garlic sauce was on point. I really enjoyed the scallion pancakes, too. They were also a good serving size (I think there were 8 in the order), and they were nice and crispy. The shrimp and black bean sauce stole the show. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and the dish was loaded with veggies. Definitely my favorite out of the three. read more

It's been awhile since I've been out. So today I made sure to take full advantage of restrictions being lifted. Someone recommended "King Wok" since it was close to my brothers house. So I I decided to knock the rust of by writing a review. I just wanted to make sure it had to be perfect. The food not my writing (which sometimes has much to be desired). However one of the two nailed it. Can you guess which one? Parking was shared so they had enough space. I walked in and the place looked nice. The staff was very friendly, so it made me comfortable being there. I ordered my usual, but this menu wasn't usual to say the least. I knew something was different when I tried the crab ragoons. The cheese inside tasted incredible! Almost like they made it themselves. I was hooked on the flavor. I couldn't believe how good it was. Next I ate my sesame chicken. Again, it was perfect! The chicken was crunchy outside with an soft middle. Topped with a wonderful sauce, this restaurant is ahead of its time. There's not to many good Chinese restaurants in my brothers area. So when you find a gem, you keep going back. You also keep telling people how good it was so they can support it. Com on, I'm serious, go check it out for yourself. read more

We'd had some complaints about them before, but it feels like those have cleared up. We were quite pleased to see them open back up again, and celebrated with dumplings. Honestly, these folks still make the best dumplings in the area. Five orders of steamed dumplings, with a side of two steamed pork buns, and a boneless spare ribs. Look, their boneless ribs are good, but I'll be honest, they don't differentiate all that much from the others out there. They are just about the *only* place that I've been able to regularly order steamed pork buns that are light and fluffy outside, and actually delicious meat inside. Seriously, most folks around here just don't have it, or don't do it well. But the dumplings are the star here. Truth told, we can't watch Kung Fu Panda and not order them... thanks to the scene that is all about a fight over dumplings. And, if we're going to order them, we don't want leathery pot-stickers (which is, in truth, what we seem to get elsewhere). Dumplings should be kind of pillowy, soft, but filled well, and brimming with flavor. And that is what these folks do better than anyone in the area! read more

Do not order the beef and broccoli. I've had other dishes that were fine but this dish was pretty unpalatable. The beef was a really odd texture. It was extremely gelatinous if that makes sense. It felt like I was chewing on straight up fat. It was so unpleasant. I've had beef and broccoli at other Chinese food places in the area and I've never received beef this texture. The sauce tasted as if it had been watered down. This spot doesn't taste like real authentic Chinese food. The lady handles cash with her hands then uses same hands to throw in egg rolls. All the food is criss contaminated and God knows they don't go by any expire dates on anything . All appitizer food is frozen and reheated I would not recommend even tho they have been there since 1994 as the guy was claiming. I'm guessing some of that freezer meat can claim the same aswell. We're new to the neighborhood and had been on the lookout for a new Chinese takeout/delivery spot. Our first try was King Wok and that's all we needed! We've ordered from K/W a couple of times, dumplings & wontons are exceptional, egg rolls are good, lo mein, chow fun and chow mei fun noodles have been perfect across the board! We haven't tried EVERYTHING on the menu, but our experiences in ordering and the dishes that we have tried tell us a few things: 1.) The cooks know their dishes and are consistent, even under a pile of orders (these guys are not a "best kept secret"- apparently lots of people order from here) 2.) They consistently change their fryer oil 3.) They use good quality produce & meat- no "mystery bites" 4.) They either make their dumplings & wontons in house or they get them from one of the better local "fresh-made" wholesalers 5.) They stand by their service (busy delivery business, mistakes were made [it happens!]- nothing catastrophic, just stuff that had been missed when packing up the delivery) When our issue was brought to their attention, it was met with NO resistance, they immediately just "made it right" read more

Curses and cranberries to the king of all wok's. I recently ordered a chicken and broccoli meal from what I thought was a fine establishment. As I chopsticked through, I noticed that the Mongolian that made my dish had decided to add Maggots to the Broccoli. As I called to report my Maggot infested broccoli, the employee told me that occasionally they miss a worm or two in the broccoli when they make it in their city wok. The city chicken was ok but I would not recommend the worm covered Broccoli. They did however offer me a Credit for my Worm infested meal. read more
