What a hidden gem! I have only stopped in to pick up food, not paying much attention to ambience. Its been crowded in the past, w comfortable seating to wait. Took my dad for a quick lunch yesterday, and luckily during mid week, wasnt as busy. We were maybe 1 of 3 tables. Service was prompt and friendly. The decor is truly stunning and classy. Had a great experience. The best Unagi that I have ever had. The pork noodle soup was the highlight with a broth that could be drunk on its own. I will differently be back. The service was attentive without being intrusive and the interior, even though on the smaller side did not feel like you were on top of the table next to you. The food here was very average nothing special. Price is kinda expensive. Cost us $30 for a 2 item dish of tempura and terriyaki steak, 2 handrolls, and yaki udon. Service was friendly and refilled our water like 4x(it was a very hot summer day lol). read more

A local favorite. It's not often you find a Chinese food restaurant that makes all of their items top notch. Usually, you have to have a couple of spots to frequent. Their garlic chicken is amazing and everything always tastes so fresh. Staff is super friendly which is also hard to find at Chinese food spots. read more

Tried this restaurant for the first time with my husband. Neither of us were pleased. We got an order to go. Once we got home we discovered they forgot to give us an item we ordered. The fried rice was very bland, absolutely no flavor. Same with their mushroom chicken. The way they put it in the bag caused all the juice from the mushroom chicken to leak into the bag. Maybe if it got to sit in the juice there would have been some flavor but it was very unseasoned. The fried prawns we ordered were mush inside, almost not fried enough. The beef brocolli was decent. We ordered chow mein but came with almost no noodles, basically just got an order of veggies. The flavor was good and we enjoyed the veggies but wish there were a bit more noodles added. My husband ordered won ton soup that tasted a bit off from the usual won ton soup he's had from several other restaurants. I would not recommend this joint read more

I came here for dinner hoping it was going to be a good choice. I ordered the 2 piece bento box. It came with teriyaki chicken and I ordered a California roll , it also came with a soup , salad and rice. Since I ordered it to go I didn't open my bag until I actually got home. The presentation was nice but the chicken taste nasty and chewy like it was boiled than lightly grilled. Never had chicken I didn't like but this chicken I could literally give to my dogs. The sushi roll was nothing special , literally like the sushi rolls you buy at Safeway. The soup I didn't try tofu not my thing. I wish I could of stuck to my original plan to go to in and out it would of been a lot cheaper for tastier food , For 12.95 it was a waste of my money I'm giving this place 2 stars only because the customer service was really great and attentive! read more

The place is very clean, and the food is delicious. It's a small place, so think twice if you have a large group (9+) (although it was pretty much empty at the time we went.) The workers greet you at the door and tell you to seat yourself. I love how they have the food display in the window like a real Japanese restaurant, it lets you know what kind of food they serve. The Tonkatsu I had was delicious, I also the wonton soup, and egg rolls are excellent. The Vegetable Udon is good, but a bit plain compared to the other soups. The chow mein is also good, but the beef in the beef chow mein tastes bland. Other than that, I recommend it! I only tried a few dishes but they have sooooooo much variety! read more

So we decided to come try this place out. My husband ordered the orange chicken. My daughter ordered the Inari Sushi which is (Tofu Skin with Rice). I ordered the Orange Sherbert which is (Shrimp, Crab, Tobiko, Mixed with Mayo Sauce) and the Philadelphia Roll which is ( Salmon, Cream Cheese, Cucumber). With my silly prego brain thinking that the salmon is cooked it comes out raw. UGH! I'm soooooooo bummed! I can't eat it. So my Hubby offers me his chicken. Eh didn't like the taste of the orange chicken. Our friend had sashimi and it looked so fresh and yummy. My Hubby had some and said it was so yummy. So was my sushi. I ended up ordering a CA roll and was disappointed. Lacked flavor. Miso soup was good. Bummed I didn't get any of the good stuff. Guess I'll have to come back after this baby comes. Customer service was impeccable! Always someone checking on us, filling waters, taking away empty plates, and my 3 year old daughter LOVED the bathroom. It had a beautiful fountain sink. My kids and I were looking for another Chinese food place our normal One was closed. Customer Service was great. We were greeted by a friendly man. 5 stars for the staff Food: Orange chicken was very plain, fatty, greasy and soggy (kids disliked the most) Mongolian Beef was cheap quality meat, hard to chew, had some long skinny noodles in it. Mongolian beef should be tender, spicy, and with usually just green onions. Garlic chicken basically the same and Orange except with a light garlic flavor. Chicken fried rice had no flavor, too many hard peas, almost zero chicken. white rice was probably the best being as it didn't need anything added when cooked. also got egg rolls and Gyzo potstickers. Neither wow'd me. Bottom line is I won't come here again. I paid over $50 for a lot of food we are going to toss. Maybe we are spoiled being from the Bay but I was very disappointed. I've rated other Asian food places so check into those of your looking for delicious food! read more

We were hoping since the move that this place would be better but it was way more of the same. The food was good but nothing special. At times a bit bland, I got the bento box and the sushi that came along with it only had fish on one of the three pieces. The chicken was a bit dry and the flavors on everything else were just not there. My buddy had some soup and fried shrimp and gyoza and still it was just a bit bland. Sorry guys... The owners of this restaurant just reopened after nearly a year and a half. They had a kitchen fire at their Tully Road location which closed them down. Now they are bigger and better than ever. The house is still bountiful. We have been dinning here for nearly 7 years. They have really made their franchise something to respect. The food is delicious and reasonably priced, the service is friendly, loyal, and they truly make you feel at wanted, and the seating and dining experience is relaxing with wonderful decorations. From their kitchen to my garbage can at a cost of $42. Another horrible Modesto Chinese restaurant. Not sure what the fried rice was supposed to be, thought they had gotten the order wrong at first. The fried shrimp were soggy and disgusting. Mongolian Beef was less than mediocre. Why are there so many of these horrible Chinese restaurants with 4 and 5 star ratings on Yelp? As far as I'm concerned I was robbed of $42. If you want good Chinese food, I suggest Golden Bowl in Salida, Mei Wei's on Standiford, Asian Fusion by Costco. There is also one called Bamboo something or another in Salida that is good. read more

The family who owns the Orient House seems really nice and the service is always friendly/helpful. We eat here very inexpensively-- both my husband and I order combination plates (between $7-$9 each; garlic chicken is a heavy favorite) and it's enough food for dinner with leftovers for lunch. We usually call in an order to go and it's always ready within about 10-15 minutes. I don't think they're quite consistent-- sometimes the sweet and sour pork seems gummy and other times everything is delicious-- but we're still big fans! read more
