The reviews don't lie, they are the worst of the worst. We chose them for internet service, and they installed a brand new modem, did not show us that the internet was working, provided password and left. The internet never worked. So i spent 27 minutes on hold for technical support directly after install, and they determined we had a bad modem. They told me to bring it to the store to exchange. I scoffed at that notion, then they said they could have a technician out in 4 days! I almost thought they were joking. I called sales again afterwards because ironically they can pick up a call in 30 seconds when you want to buy something, but employee ID 6F8 refused to escalate my request or provide any support either. They are worse than the used car salesmen of the 80s we all learned to run from. Should you choose to go with Suddenlink because you simply have no other options kind of like us, at least brace yourself for some of the worst customer service and after sales treatment you have endured in a long time, if not ever. If you can choose someone else do it. They have been out to our home at least 10 times for numerous issues. We have had to call in probably 25 times. We've had the service for 4 months. Internet service unusable, TV boxes stop working, remote fails to work, sound out of sync etc. Every single week something new happens. When you ask for a supervisor they promise to call back but never do. All of these reviews are true. Suddenlink Communications is a joke when it comes to Customer Service. I have been paying for 1gig speed and only receiving ave 350 mbps for the past 8 weeks. The first customer service rep I talked to wanted me to call the manufacturer of the modem and solve my issue with them. I had to explain to her it does not work like that. After I told her to send a tech out, which seemed like trying to explain Calculus to a toddler, I was happy the conversation was over. 4 days later, the tech was great but told me the modem wasn't the issue and that it was from the controller in the street, so another tech will be sent out to fix. 4 days later, I get an email that the equipment was fixed. No one came out. My window faces the controller box on the street. I call customer service again, ask for a supervisor, apparently all supervisors are in meetings or they do not have supervisors. New guy comes on, I explain to him my findings. During this whole time period I am running internet speed tests and still only getting less than 300 mbps. New guy says everything is fine. I tell him, I have proof that nothing has been done and to not close the ticket. 15 minutes after the call, I get an email telling me that my problem has been resolved. NOTHING has been resolved. So much for having a Smart House. If you have a choice, go somewhere else. They make you pay for services they cannot deliver on. Go somewhere else. read more

Suddenlink is without question the worst company I have ever done business with. I cancelled the service in July of 2019 and paid off my balance. In August they charged my account $663.83 without my authorization. Now they claim I never closed the account - yet the $663.83 is for not returning their antiquated equipment - which I did and I have a receipt for it. They have outsourced their customer service department to a foreign country and I have held for literally hours every day without ever reaching a live customer service representative. This is a nightmare and I am going to have to sue them to get my money back. The bank is trying to help me. I fired them because their cable and wifi was constantly down. If you need cable or internet Suddenlink in Conroe should be your last choice. I got new TVs and the old boxes do not have a connection for the new type of cable. I went into the Conroe store to swap the boxes and they were out. They said come back. i went back the next week and they were changing over computer programs so could do nothing. Come back they said. I went back the next week and they were out. I asked for the Manager and was told she would come out. I waited 15 minutes and she never came out of her office. I made an appointment for someone to come to my home with the cable boxes. i took off work and Suddenlink was a no show. I scheduled a second appointment. Suddenlink was a no show. I called and was upset so they scheduled someone on Sunday so I would not have to take off work. Someone actually showed up but did not have the information I had given over three different times with the numbers and names of my current boxes. He had no equipment. He rescheduled with me standing there and told them exactly what I needed. Someone was scheduled to come on Monday night. Suddenlink was a no show. I called this morning and was told someone would come this afternoon with the boxes. A lady called a few minutes ago to see if I still needed anyone. No one can bring cable boxes. Now it is rescheduled for Thursday and for the eighth time gave the information about the cable boxes. In most areas, once you have Suddenlink installed it works fine. The problem is when you must deal with the incompetence of the Conroe store and the schedulers. The actual installation guys are fine. Avoid Suddenlink if you can because with the incompetent Conroe Suddenlink Store and the incompetent schedulers you will never get to the part of Suddenlink that works! read more

We just moved and had to cancel service. They said that I had 3 old standard def converters on my account and would be charged $40 each, $120 for something I never had in my possession! They said it shows in their records that I went in and got them at the counter. I only have two tv's and they are HD and I used Tivo's that I purchased. Started with Suddenlink about a month ago. First installer neglected to install phone and ran off without even saying he was done. Told us to wait about an hour and then use the Suddenlink phone to call our cell phone to capture our new phone number. Duh! Didn't know there was no phone until after he left. Had to wait another week to get another tech rep who came and fixed things. He had some negative comments about the first tech's work. Then, all things were pretty good, save for the user-unfriendly remote and the weird scramble of channels. Nothing intuitive. Now we skip ahead to last Friday. Channel 11 (KHOU) is totally pixelated and unviewable. It was late on Friday and I figured that it would be resolved. It wasn't and we went all week with the problem. So Monday, I called the Suddenlink office and after being run through a program to solve issues, I finally got an agent. I explained the problem and after a few minutes where she was likely checking things, she finally explained that it was a TV station problem and it would be fixed when it is fixed. read more

Consumers beware. This company is the worst I have ever had the misfortune of working with before. Since I have already told my story to them seven times with no regard, I figured I would post my review here and hopefully save any new consumers the headache of working with these liars and misrepresenting thieves. From the beginning, before I even got the installation, the misrepresentation began. I was quoted pricing by a sales rep, and then when I got the estimated bill from the company it was way higher. I texted my rep back and told him that I did not want the premium services installed, because the pricing was much higher than what he had quoted. He confirmed back with me to let the tech know that we would only be installing the one gig Internet package, and the extended cable package, and the pricing would be $129 for both. When the tech got to my house and did the installation, he said he could not do this, so I had him call the office while he was at my house. He tried to use the story that they were independent contractors and could not match the price that the sales rep had given me, and that I would need to go directly through him to have to bill fixed. I texted my rep back that same day and asked him to please make the adjustments that we had spoken about prior to the installation and if he could get my bill fixed. This was right before Easter, so I figured I would give him a few days to respond in case he was on vacation. No response. I followed up again with him the following week, and sent him a reminder text to please follow up on the issue and get my bill fixed. No response. I sent him a third text and let him know that I did not want to have to go this route, but if I did not get a response I would cancel the entire service. No response. So I sent a final text and told him to have his people come and pull all their stuff out and that I was canceling their service because nobody could call me back. Surprise surprise but no response. I was exceptionally irritated by this time, And I decided to call the main office. I spoke to a woman on the phone for an hour which took my entire lunch at work, and they were supposed to have a supervisor call me back to deal with the problem. I'm pretty sure you can guess what happened next. I never got a callback. I then called back a week later again to the main office and told him I was tired of telling the story and I wanted to talk to a manager directly. He told me there was nothing in the system on what had happened, and I would need to tell him about it before he could get me to a manager. I was pissed, but went over the whole story again with him. The manager was surprisingly not in again, and I was told they would call me back within an hour to fix the situation. I made it very clear to the guy that I expected a call back this time because nobody had called me back, and I had been trying to get the situation rectified for nearly 2 months by this point. He promised they would call me back this time. As usual, no response back. Then they sent a bill saying I was past due, and cut off my service. I had told them each time I was talking to them that I would be willing to pay the bill at the price I agreed to, but I would not pay for the services that were not supposed to ever have been installed, that was on them, and I had everything in writing to back up my story. Now they are saying that unless I pay my bill at the higher price that they wanted me to pay even though they were the ones that screwed up and installed all the stuff that I told them I didn't want, that they would not be willing to open the account and look at it at all. I told them I would be making a complaint with the Department of consumer affairs, and that I would not pay for services I never authorized to be installed. And again let me reiterate, I have all the stuff in writing, and they still will not honor it. BUYERS BEWARE. read more

Takes 5+ minutes to ever get to an actual person on the phone and then they want my pin from my bill which happens to be paperless so I cannot log in online to get it because........ our internet never works. And although entire neighborhood has had issues for 3+ weeks, they tell me it must be my equipment as they are not showing any issues. BS!! By far the worst internet service provider I have ever had in my life. You pay high prices for mediocre service and their customer service is horrible. Tech support has no clue what is going on or how to fix everything. They changed the email on my account and I couldn't change it back so I had to call them to change it. The woman had a difficult time understanding my request to change my email. She ended up screwing up my account and I had to reregister even though I have had the same account for over two years. Internet goes down every time it rains. When you call to report an outage (there's no other way to do it) they'll tell you that it's you and your equipment and you need to purchase new equipment. They never admit it is their crap service. Unfortunately, there are very limited options in this area and they know it so they just don't care about improving. I canceled their services after using them for 1 week. Yet, despite returning all of the equipment and having a receipt for the same, I continued to receive texts and emails for charges months after the account had been closed. And every time I called their customer service, I was told that the charges are in error but there is nothing they can do to remove them from the account- and I was bounced around between Customer Service, Billing, Loyalty, Disconnection and Collection services. read more

The data cap is bullshit they never had one then in the middle of the month I got a message and called to find out they had a data cap. Unfortunately after only one week SuddenLink (SortaLink as some have described it) I am now having internet connectivity issues. 89 ms Ping, .98 Mbps download and 1.89 Mbps upload. I think I will just hook up a phone line and try using an old modem! Also while looking at my bill I find out that I am paying for all the pay channels yet only getting Starz West! Call Product support for assistance; might as well have went ahead and finished my electronics engineering degree so I could get a job like theirs! Making me do their troubleshooting! In an attempt to appease the internet gods I grab my laptop from the desk after unhitching it from it's USB/Display cable/speaker system/power supply and head for the living room where said modem resides. Before I get there Mr Product Support tells me he has found the problem, no need for the computer hookup! It appears to be my modem. I tell him about the TV channel issue. He proceeds to do his diagnostic wizardry only to find that the system is programmed for these channels but it won't work. Has me get into the Tivo box parameters and note certain info. Still no avail. Definitely gonna need a technician to come out and repair. NOW for the even better part! He tells me that if they find a cable issue after the modem that we will pay a $60 fee for repairing it. Hey dippy, you just installed this system 1 week ago, how in the hell did something go wrong with the cables in one week? Or maybe your installation tech SUCKS because he should have thoroughly checked it before signing off on it. I mean, Hell, he could have verified all channels, especially pay channels! I personally went to their outlet to get the equipment. I not have all but one TV working. They think the equipment for the last one is faulty. They want to charge me $60 to send out a tech to swap out the faulty box. They refuse to waive the $60 charge unless I agree to opt for their $7 per month insurance policy (to insure THEIR faulty equipment???). read more

I'm a disabled veteran living on a small Pension. In August 2017 shortly after getting internet service, i sent back there modem and verified that they had received it; they had, in september 2017. The lady said it would be removed from my account. Today, August 2018, I got my bill. It that has an increase on it, First change in my bill, so i called to find out what for. I'm told it's for a modem rental and service fee increases. I told the lady that I don't have one of your modem. She confirmed that it was returned in Sep 2017 and that i have been paying for it the whole time. She then transfers me to the supervisor for a refund. He explained to me that their police only allow a 30 day refund but he can authorize 90 days for me. Well what about the other 10 months? No sorry! He told me where to find their policy to that effect. Most every review you read on this company has to do with them charging incorrectly and people fighting to get there money back. So i was not surprised on them having a policy like this. I was surprised by, how this can be a A+ rated business with BBB!? 1 positive review out of 179 reviews. It's because of their Business size to complaint ratio. Only way to change this company's Business practices, Is more people need to write a review on their issues with them. I have been with Suddenlink for only two months and the problems are stacking. I have already had 3 different modems from them due to technical failures. I have had multiple service visits by them. Keep in mind, if you don't pay for Safe Guard ($5 a month) they will charge you $50 for every technician visit you get. I'm not sure, but paying them to fix what you are already paying for sounds like buying a ticket to a theme park and then paying to have the roller coaster fixed too. In the local office, most of the people working there are friendly, except for one. During my visit, she was more interested in messaging people on her phone than she was helping the customers in the office. She will combat everything you tell her. She will also start yelling and walk away from you if you have made a valid point. Her name is Hope. The technicians that have come to the apartment are friendly, but they don't tell you or show you the work or repair they are doing. When I asked for proof of repair and an itemized bill, Suddenlink could not produce either. By law, if a company cannot provide these things for service rendered, then they cannot bill you. Suddenlink told me that I was responsible for all repair being done to the apartment building because I am renting an apartment there. After some investigating, I have found that if any repair is needed to an apartment building, the repair costs need to be addressed with the building owners, and not the tenants. Be forewarned, if you need interent and live in an older apartment, Suddenlink will try to charge you for ALL repairs. I did inform them, I had to report this to the FCC, and an investigation will be started if the issue is not resolved. Within the hour, a field agent called me to say the charges were reversed for the service calls. I will be moving soon, and will have the fun of fighting a different internet provider. We had to move and after standing in line for 30 minutes to return our equipment on 6/26 I was told we were already charged next months full amount because "the billing cycle starts over again on 6/22 and do NOT pro-rate." How RIDICULOUS to charge someone a full month of services that were only used for 4 days. We will definitely be going with another provider for cable/internet services at our new residence because of this. to make matters worse, our "on demand" feature hardly ever worked and would have to be re-booted daily. I would give them 0 stars if I could. I've been trying to get a new modem provisioned for my account. I called the first time and the tech went through the steps and said it would be ready in 30 minutes. 30 minutes later I was still without internet. Called back and the new tech said the last tech did it wrong and it would be ready in 30 minutes. Called back in 30 minutes when it still wasn't working. They couldn't figure it out and I was in a hurry so I had them re-provision the old modem. They thought maybe it was my modem. So, I went out and bought a new modem. Called back on a different day. Tech went through the steps and said it would work in 30 minutes. 30 minutes later I called back and they were closed. They didn't open again for 3 days. So, I had no internet for 3 days. Called back on Monday and they said the tech did it wrong. Promised it would be ready in 2 hours. 2 hours later it wasn't working still....and they were closed. So, now it's been 5 days and still no internet. The "worst" part is that every call takes at least 40 minutes to reach a tech. I've literally been on hold or on a call with them for 5 hours trying to get this fixed...and it's a SIMPLE thing. I've done it a lot of times in the past with Time Warner...no problem (and I don't even like Time Warner). read more

For over 20 years I've used AT&T for Internet and cable with no problems. Having moved several times in that 20 years to reestablish service, again, no problems. Now I've moved to a location where I have no other option than to use Suddenlink. I've had service for two months and it's been constant problems with outages resetting the router multiple phone calls with customer service which is an absolute freaking joke. This is the worst GD service I've ever seen in my life for Internet and cable and I'm stuck and can't get any other service here. Internet went down in July, tried to set multiple appointments to have a tech come out. Couldn't get an appointment because of outages. FINALLY get an appointment in AUGUST! First appointment, tech doesn't show, given credit on service call, second appointment, tech doesn't show, finally shows up for the THIRD appointment. Router was fried, which we already knew. TWO MONTHS with NO INTERNET, bill was paid even while we had no service. We were told a credit would be issued AFTER service was restored. Still waiting on that credit going on THREE MONTHS!! Every time we call it's a new person telling us they will look into it and call us back, still waiting on those calls. My husband has been hung up on, told the service call credit was all we were getting, and that we have to keep paying while it's being processed. SERIOUSLY? WE WENT FOR TWO MONTHS WITH ZERO SERVICE BECAUSE YOU COULDN'T SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT DURING AN OUTAGE AND YOU COULDN'T ISSUE A CREDIT UNTIL SERVICE WAS RESTORED.
