Suddenlink Communications was extremely difficult with technical support! The automated system was a terror, excessively long wait times, no resolution, etc. Heck, it took 5months for Suddenlink Communications to bury the cable flapping in the wind with each gentle evening breeze. Throughout the usual elevator music playing as I waited 10+ minutes, the call was interrupted by the standard automated urging to visit a website for help instead. (NO. I NEED HUMAN HELP HOMIE.) This process happened four times over a 2-day span. I fully anticipated the entire process, you know the call-for-tech-support-but-you-end-up-holding-forever-while-repeatedly-being-told-to-just-unplug-it joke? Well, slow clap for Suddenlink Communications because they are masters. My internet service with the company is slow but having 10+ phones, 3+ tablets, 2 laptops, 2 gaming systems and watching 2 internet tv's doesn't make it slower. It keeps right on chugging slow. Slow like pauses during online gameplay, pauses during shows, dreaded spinning circle during internet seaches. For the past week, all electronics are kicked off the internet randomly throughout the day and night. We can't watch an hour episode or play a full game of Madden without being kicked off. Calling is a option besides those wack turn-it-off solutions are wack but calling is such a loooooooooooong process. Livechat has the audacity to require your account number! I'd leave but I came to Suddenlink Communications because I had same issues with another company. Going on 30min+ and no end in sight. I wanted to officially have a response to report but...... geez.... holding past 30min usually ends with the call sounding a fax and hanging up on ME UPDATE!!! At 48min, I was able to schedule a tech for the following week. read more

David was an unprofessional employee. I requested a supervisor multiple times. I am so unsatisfied with the transaction, it took two calls to attempt to get a PIN number to port number to another carrier. I was hung up on, asked evasive questions. Making the simple transaction l I will never recommend them to anyone. The tactics used were extorting and exhausting. The customer that I witnessed this happening to is 78 years old. The only reason for the one star I couldn't enter a 0. read more

It's impossible to just call and cancel service with Optimum. (3) calls and 4 hours later I still am not canceled. They will try to offer discounts, and say we'll waive a month but will not just cancel! I asked for supervisor and that was a joke. He would not cancel without me agreeing to keep service for another month saying he'll wave. I called Jan 20th to cancel and it's Feb. 9, 2026 and they said I owe $98 bc I agreed to keep service. Lies -- I guess reps get paid to keep customers. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. We went to the Optimum store to return our equipment, and the employee who helped us was incredibly hostile and unfriendly. Instead of a simple, straightforward process, we were met with attitude and rudeness for no reason. It felt like we were inconveniencing them just by being there. Optimum already has enough issues with their internet service--now I see their in-person customer service is just as bad. Avoid if you can read more

Horrible customer service! Extremely hard to cancel service. I have been on the phone 20 minutes with this person. She keeps putting me on hold and then keeps coming back with lower offers trying to keep my business. I keep saying I want to Cancel and Nothing else! Very frustrating and I don't have this time. Have called 4 other times but can't cancel during the weekends. Can't cancel after 5pm. They just are as horrible as their service. read more

If I could give less than one star I absolutely would. this company will steal your money! I called to cancel my service and they offered me 2 months free and 2 years at a rate of $45 dollars. Less than a month later I was charged $101.33 (original price). When I called to get my money back they told me it couldn't be refunded as it could only be applied as a credit to my account. I requested a supervisor, several times and then was offered 4 months free and 3 years at $45/month as well as a ticket started to refund what I was incorrectly charged. Optimum is still refusing to give me the money they took, that they shouldn't have. Best believe I will be cancelling my service now and telling everyone I know to stay the hell away from Optimum. They are thieves and will rip you off!! Not to mention there are FREQUENT outages with them. read more

0 stars Avoid Optimum if able to! We were canceling service due to moving in September. They cancelled our internet one night weeks before our requested date...we were told there would be a credit applied for the last bill due to their error when we contacted them. Now we are notified that we have a bill that was sent to collections. We were never notified of a bill, no phone calls, no emails...last we heard, it would be taken care of! And now they are NO help. Terrible company. ‍ read more

This is the worse internet company. If you are smart you will NOT go with optimum. I've been trying to return my mothers modem who has been passed away for 6 months and they refuse to send me a return label and expect me to drive 3 hours round trip to an optimum store and return it myself. They are very rude and I've spoken to 5 people and not 1 of them are from America so good luck with understandable communication. The only helpful thing I've learned from OPTIMUM is that I will NEVER EVER use them for anything. Good luck for those who go with OPTIMUM. They are awful. p.s. they don't deserve 1 star but I had to chose it in order for this review to post but trust me they don't deserve 1 star. i CAN'T STRESS ENOUGH HOW HORRIBLE THEY ARE! Don't do it! Service was down 50% of the time. I had read the poor reviews prior to establishing service. However, I didn't have any other options for cable tv. I recently moved from Florida & Xfinity was my isp. Don't get me wrong, xfinity has more than its share of problems. Not to mention their very high price. Another thing, it literally took an hour to cancel my Optimum account. Save yourself a lot of headaches and don't consider signing up with Optimum. read more

The only reason I'm giving Optimum a rating of one star, is that zero stars is not among the available options. Optimum, formerly called "Suddenlink," is as slovenly and pathetic an internet service provider as I have ever come across. I used them for a while but changed to another provider as Optimum's service continued to degrade. To be fair, when their internet service is working, it's not bad. The speeds are good and their fees, while not the best, are not exorbitant. But the key phrase in the preceding sentence is "when their internet service is working." You never know when it's going to go down and, when it does, you never know how long it will be until service is restored. I work from home and bill clients according to how much time I spend on their needs. My ability to work is seriously compromised when I'm offline. Optimum's reliability has fallen so drastically that, despite the hassle of switching internet service providers, I had no choice but to pull the plug on Optimum. But the unreliability of their internet service was just the tip of this floating pile of feces. Optimum's "customer service" is nothing but a bad joke. Calling Optimum on the phone for help is a sure fire way of raising your blood pressure to dangerous levels. It is far easier to get an audience with the pope than it is to get a human on the phone to help you with your internet problems. Even when you finally get someone at Optimum on the phone, your problems are just beginning. When I called Optimum to cancel their service, they still managed to "F" things up. Since my new internet provider was not due to set up my service until October 24, I instructed Optimum NOT to discontinue my service until November 1. That request was evidently far too complicated for the Optimum dummies to deal with. They canceled my service on October 22nd! If you choose to do business with Optimum, make sure you have enough blood pressure medication on hand because, I assure you, you're definitely going to need it! read more

Internet service was ok. Phone service uses t-mobile network, which is not great in my area. Interent prices kept escalating so I moved to another provider. A truly horrible customer service expereince to disconnect. Firstly, sales rep who argued with me and kept trying to get me to keep the service...he would not allow me to disconnect...until I started to yell at him. Then I returned the router and equipment, spoke with a nice rep on the phone who promised me that my service was disconnected and promised me a prorated bill. But the prorated bill never came. Instead, I was charge the full month instead of the 4 days of the month that I had service. Each time I called, I was told I would receive a revised bill a month later. Finally, I spoke to a rep and the supervisor and no...they would not give me a prorated bill. Such BS! I wish I had known this before using their service. Truly horrible customer service and bad training. Stay far far away!!! Not worth the hours of time I spent on the phone, trying to save $80. read more

Optimum-Conroe - Done dirty by suddenlink - Television Service Providers Near Me - Conroe, Texas

Just got off the phone with customer service to disconnect our services, because we are moving. The lady was RUDE. I could hear her sighing as if I was bothering her with her job. I asked if she would email me confirmation with my cut off date, since she never repeated it back to me. She is cutting it off on a date that I did not give her. I've never liked suddenlink. They have always had terrible customer service and their service sucks. Internet goes out, TV shuts off to reboot. I'm glad I'm moving out of state and won't have to deal with them anymore. read more

Everything!!!!!!!!!!! The most unreliable service we have ever had. Tachus is in our area now so we will switch over asap. We have been without Optimum Internet service since 3/16 and it's 3/24. Optimum is the cable TV provider in my area. The service goes out intermittent and now they refuse to credit the account for outages unless it's over 24 hours. We'll if it's out 6 hours and then 4 hours, etc it adds up. They charge us and we pat for continuous service. It happens every month a couple of times. When your paying such a high bill and this is the only option, their customer service needs to be better. Not to mention, their DVR service is constantly not working properly, yet it costs quite a bit to get it. I had Comcast for 27 years before I had to switch and I paid less for more channels and better service. read more

I would give Optimum zero stars if I could! This internet provider SUCKS!!! The only reason I use their services is because it's what's offered in my area. I have called them many times to report my internet being out over the past 12 months. The 20 minute long phone calls with them are annoying. I can't scroll through social media without having "unstable connection," and it's extremely difficult, as a college student, to get my homework done because my computer loses connection in the middle of my assignments; I also can't connect my printer to the internet. One of their representatives told me they would give me 3 months free and lower my bill to $20 when I tried to cancel my service. I continuously told them, "No thank you," but they pestered me until I agreed. This service is worth no more than $5/mo. The internet is always out. read more

How is this company still in business?? I'm a so disgusted with this "service." I pay almost $140 a month just for internet. Shitty internet. The worst internet. The guy who came to do the installation also stole a brand new iPad from our home. I was too ashamed to make this accusation and report it to the company but there is no one else who has been in our home. I am now 100% convinced that he did it but it has been 3 months now and I doubt this shitty company would do anything about it if I were to report it. DO NOT purchase this disservice. My internet has been out for days but they are closed when I get home or don't answer their phone so I can't get it fixed or cancel it. I want nothing more than for them to go out of business for the greater good of humanity! Hopefully now that the area is growing, this will be sooner than later. Report this despicable company to the Better Business Bureau. read more

Horrible company to work with. They call at least twice a day to see how they are doing and ask if I am satisfied. I tell them I have been without service for 10 days now. Service was started on the 31 of last month. They told me at least 4 days in a row, I had a strong signal at my router. I inform them that Speed Test indicates 1.29 - 3.1 mbp/s. they then tell me they are going to fix it on their end! they don't. Finally, send back out the same tec who left a mess when he installed my equipment. Tells me he will be back in a few minutes, half hour later, he comes back to tell me I don't have service! Well Duhh! Tells me it will be at least 48 hours. that Evening I get a call from Optimum to confirm how they did and am I happy. About now I wish I had my fingers around some Optimum Manag4r throat. I tell them no I am not happy, the line is out and it will be at least 48 hours until it is fixed. Next day I get a call from Optimum asking me, Blah Blah Blah.. I am about to lose it. Once again I tell the agent the whole story. She wants to try on her end. Now I have lost it. I am mildly screaming at the phone. I calm down, tell her not to call me again unless the issue is FIXED. This has repeated itself ever day since the second day of the outage. IF YOU ARE SMART, DON'T GO WITH OPTIMUM. The will make you an absolute raving lunatic before anything is fixed b read more

Possibly the worst managed and most hated company in America. Suddenlink has become famous for its complete inability to offer anything resembling quality television or internet service or anything resembling customer service. A review of Better Business Bureau and FTC complaints reveals an almost unbelievable number of unresolved complaints that go back for years and run up to the current day. To anyone who's anywhere near where they provide service, resist the urge to fall for their slick marketing - using this company will only bring disappointment and heartache. Use Dish, use Tachus, use whatever you have to but remember what we all say all around Lake Conroe: friends don't let friends subscribe to Suddenlink. read more

********* WARNING READ BEFORE YOU BUY THIS SERVICE ********* I am writing this review to warn anyone considering using this service. I signed up for the full package (cable/internet) after I bought my house. Everyone is very nice and professional but what they don't tell you is if you sign up for Auto Pay you receive a $5 credit on your bill but here's the kicker, Auto Pay doesn't actually start until after 2 months of billing! Something no one bothered to mentioned when setting up my service. I set up my online account and added my payment option thinking all was good. My first bill came with a due date of 1/10 and was noted I was on auto pay. I check my bill today, 1/8, and it says I'm past due even though it's not due for 2 days. I called support and they told me they bill ahead so my next bill is almost due and I haven't even paid my first bill, which is due in 2 days but is past due. The rep was very pleasant and even offered to credit a late fee if there was one on my account. I asked, if the payment isn't due until 1/10 and that is 2 days from now, why would there be a late fee! She said because I have another bill due in 2wks (1/25) the current bill was considered late/past due. What kind of company operates this way? I asked, since I'm paying ahead what if I cut off service in the middle of the my billing cycle, would you refund my money for the unused days? The response was "we don't terminate service in a billing cycle." Which means they take your money for services they never provided. Isn't that called stealing? The @FCC should investigate these companies who are taking advantage of consumers especially when there are limited or have no other options in their area so you have to use their service. Very unhappy with SuddenLink and considering my options. read more

Not very happy with Suddenlink. I was charged $49.99 to watch 1 movie "The Loft". When I called to question the charge, there was no explanation for the high price. I can't begin to explain the problems we have had with Suddenlink's customer service department. Setting up service calls that never happened, a technician that came out and didn't even bring the requested equipment, and numerous phone calls (over 20 min) that never resolved the issue. The Conroe store, 1120 SH-336 Loop, is staffed by an unbelievably rude, unprofessional, extremely loud and obnoxious lady. I did not get her name because she would not give it to me. Worst internet provider ever!! We had it installed on Friday and had to call 3 times over the weekend because we had no signal. And when they ran the line to our new construction instead of running the line from the box in the front yard!!.... They ran a cable completely around the entire house.... Yes all 4 sides!!!! How stupid are they you ask?? Pretty dumb. The guy who came to actually bury the line (contractor not employed directly from Suddenlink) was even amazed!! He fixed it for us. Ran the line from point a to b right from the yard to the corner of the house. Gee that was hard. Then customer service is horrible!!! You can't reach a person unless you pretend you want new service get connected to sales and ask to be transferred. If you're an existing customer the automated system tells you " representatives are not available at this time". Chat is a joke. Now rebranded as Optimum! Frequently drops service, often for days at a time. Getting through to anyone to resolve issues is an exercise in frustration and loss of time. Average encounter time when I have an issue easily 2 hours. I'm very persistent, but respectful and patient. I understand the reality that these communication corporations are not in a financial crisis when it comes to keeping customers. Internet should be treated as a utility due to present day necessity. They know this so the price goes up, product value is average and the personal service is automated, detached and merely exists as a buffer to prevent you from speaking to anyone at Optimum with a real stake in the company.
