If I could give less than one star I absolutely would. this company will steal your money! I called to cancel my service and they offered me 2 months free and 2 years at a rate of $45 dollars. Less than a month later I was charged $101.33 (original price). When I called to get my money back they told me it couldn't be refunded as it could only be applied as a credit to my account. I requested a supervisor, several times and then was offered 4 months free and 3 years at $45/month as well as a ticket started to refund what I was incorrectly charged. This is the worse internet company. If you are smart you will NOT go with optimum. I've been trying to return my mothers modem who has been passed away for 6 months and they refuse to send me a return label and expect me to drive 3 hours round trip to an optimum store and return it myself. Don't do it! Service was down 50% of the time. I had read the poor reviews prior to establishing service. However, I didn't have any other options for cable tv. I recently moved from Florida & Xfinity was my isp. Don't get me wrong, xfinity has more than its share of problems. Not to mention their very high price. The only reason I'm giving Optimum a rating of one star, is that zero stars is not among the available options. Optimum, formerly called "Suddenlink," is as slovenly and pathetic an internet service provider as I have ever come across. I used them for a while but changed to another provider as Optimum's service continued to degrade. To be fair, when their internet service is working, it's not bad. The speeds are good and their fees, while not the best, are not exorbitant. But the key phrase in the preceding sentence is "when their internet service is working." You never know when it's going to go down and, when it does, you never know how long it will be until service is restored. I work from home and bill clients according to how much time I spend on their needs. My ability to work is seriously compromised when I'm offline. Optimum's reliability has fallen so drastically that, despite the hassle of switching internet service providers, I had no choice but to pull the plug on Optimum. But the unreliability of their internet service was just the tip of this floating pile of feces. Optimum's "customer service" is nothing but a bad joke. Calling Optimum on the phone for help is a sure fire way of raising your blood pressure to dangerous levels. It is far easier to get an audience with the pope than it is to get a human on the phone to help you with your internet problems. Even when you finally get someone at Optimum on the phone, your problems are just beginning. When I called Optimum to cancel their service, they still managed to "F" things up. Since my new internet provider was not due to set up my service until October 24, I instructed Optimum NOT to discontinue my service until November 1. That request was evidently far too complicated for the Optimum dummies to deal with. They canceled my service on October 22nd! If you choose to do business with Optimum, make sure you have enough blood pressure medication on hand because, I assure you, you're definitely going to need it! read more

Internet service was ok. Phone service uses t-mobile network, which is not great in my area. Interent prices kept escalating so I moved to another provider. A truly horrible customer service expereince to disconnect. Firstly, sales rep who argued with me and kept trying to get me to keep the service...he would not allow me to disconnect...until I started to yell at him. Then I returned the router and equipment, spoke with a nice rep on the phone who promised me that my service was disconnected and promised me a prorated bill. But the prorated bill never came. Instead, I was charge the full month instead of the 4 days of the month that I had service. Each time I called, I was told I would receive a revised bill a month later. Finally, I spoke to a rep and the supervisor and no...they would not give me a prorated bill. Such BS! I wish I had known this before using their service. Optimum is the cable TV provider in my area. The service goes out intermittent and now they refuse to credit the account for outages unless it's over 24 hours. We'll if it's out 6 hours and then 4 hours, etc it adds up. They charge us and we pat for continuous service. It happens every month a couple of times. When your paying such a high bill and this is the only option, their customer service needs to be better. Not to mention, their DVR service is constantly not working properly, yet it costs quite a bit to get it. I have called them many times to report my internet being out over the past 12 months. The 20 minute long phone calls with them are annoying. I can't scroll through social media without having "unstable connection," and it's extremely difficult, as a college student, to get my homework done because my computer loses connection in the middle of my assignments; I also can't connect my printer to the internet. One of their representatives told me they would give me 3 months free and lower my bill to $20 when I tried to cancel my service. Horrible company to work with. They call at least twice a day to see how they are doing and ask if I am satisfied. I tell them I have been without service for 10 days now. Service was started on the 31 of last month. They told me at least 4 days in a row, I had a strong signal at my router. I inform them that Speed Test indicates 1.29 - 3.1 mbp/s. they then tell me they are going to fix it on their end! they don't. Finally, send back out the same tec who left a mess when he installed my equipment. Tells me he will be back in a few minutes, half hour later, he comes back to tell me I don't have service! I signed up for the full package (cable/internet) after I bought my house. Everyone is very nice and professional but what they don't tell you is if you sign up for Auto Pay you receive a $5 credit on your bill but here's the kicker, Auto Pay doesn't actually start until after 2 months of billing! Something no one bothered to mentioned when setting up my service. I set up my online account and added my payment option thinking all was good. My first bill came with a due date of 1/10 and was noted I was on auto pay. I check my bill today, 1/8, and it says I'm past due even though it's not due for 2 days. I called support and they told me they bill ahead so my next bill is almost due and I haven't even paid my first bill, which is due in 2 days but is past due. The rep was very pleasant and even offered to credit a late fee if there was one on my account. I asked, if the payment isn't due until 1/10 and that is 2 days from now, why would there be a late fee! She said because I have another bill due in 2wks (1/25) the current bill was considered late/past due. What kind of company operates this way? I asked, since I'm paying ahead what if I cut off service in the middle of the my billing cycle, would you refund my money for the unused days? The response was "we don't terminate service in a billing cycle." Which means they take your money for services they never provided. Isn't that called stealing? The @FCC should investigate these companies who are taking advantage of consumers especially when there are limited or have no other options in their area so you have to use their service. Setting up service calls that never happened, a technician that came out and didn't even bring the requested equipment, and numerous phone calls (over 20 min) that never resolved the issue. And when they ran the line to our new construction instead of running the line from the box in the front yard!!.... They ran a cable completely around the entire house.... Yes all 4 sides!!!!
