This is the worst company I have ever had the misfortune to deal with. I was without cable/Internet on Tuesday January 2, 2024 for 5 hours. They "compensated" me $6. I have had nothing but problems since June when I moved into the apartment where I now reside. Plus this horrible cable doesn't carry the Astros games. Imagine living in the Houston area, and not being able to watch the Astros. This is by far the worst company I have ever used. I'm going to change company as soon as possible. The worst utility company ever. The isp service cuts out all the time in the Montgomery area. The price is 2X what I pay for my house in town (which has 3X faster internet and all the movie channels), but out here in Montgomery the only high speed isp option is suddenstink. Hell last month they disconnected my service all together. Just terminated my service. I had already paid the bill (they had processed payment) and I hadn't asked to cancel, but they shut it off. Spent an hour on the phone with four different people to get it turned back on. Nobody can explain why it was canceled. Anyway, bottom line suddenstink flat out blows. They will go out of business once there is actual competition. read more

After years of terrible internet service and finally getting an option to change, we cancelled Suddenlink. I made the cancellation on April 6, 2022 and received confirmation from Suddenlink on April 7. THEN I was billed $135.25 on April 17, 2022 for the cycle ending MAY 4, 2022. So they let me cancel service on April 7 but charged me for not being their customer anymore through May 4. Bad service. Poor quality. Shaft the customer when they've had enough. read more

WORST INTERNET SERVICE SO FAR!! The only reason that I'm using their service is because my other option was COMCAST but I seriously believe that Comcast offered a better internet than Suddenlink. Costumer service is ok but they don't help you to resolve your problem, they are "good" if you need to vent what is happening with the internet and that's it. I don't have internet since yesterday, the costumer service lady told me that someone would come TODAY BETWEEN 4-8 pm to change my modem (modem is just plain dead) and no one came! I called them and the man who answered my call told me the technician already FIX THE PROBLEM FROM THE OUTSIDE OF MY PLACE Then I started to have the same conversation with this man as the one that I had yesterday, same questions "Is your internet light on" "Is your modem connected right?" "Did you check your computer to see if you have internet access" OMG I've been saying the same as I did yesterday MY MODEM IS JUST PLAIN DEAD!!! If I can go lower I would but sadly a 1 star will have to do. Suddenlink is the worse provider I've experienced. Lived in many cities that had the best gigabyte internet or high speed internet never was an issue. Then I'm in Conroe and this is the only option I have and the 1 gig here is a joke. Only thing that works is cable and even sometimes it goes off sometimes but sudden link do better and fix your internet that's why your customers aren't happy we need Xfinity. If I can list it lower, I would. My internet goes down multiple times in a day. In fact, it has gone down 5 times this afternoon, in a 3 hour window. This has been going on for two years with no fix. If I had another option, I'd take it in a heartbeat. I've even considered satellite, although it's expensive. I would really advise people not to choose suddenlink for their provider. Their autopay doesn't work and then you'll be charged a late fee. On top of that for some reason when I paid over the phone (mind you, it's a $10 fee to pay over the phone) there was a balance of 90 cents left over which made my account delinquent which made no sense. I would never use them again, they intentionally try to scam you out of money with their shady billing practices. Update I didn't think suddenlink could get much worse but when I returned my equipment I asked if I could use their bathroom and they said no, I should add I'm 8 months pregnant. In the beginning everything seemed very fine and friendly, and while I got the very cheapest bundle for internet and tv service, the installation (first bill) was around 150 bucks. Each subsequent bill was around 100. Eventually I was forced to switch tv services to a different company (Due to certain channels not being available), and when I called suddenlink to cancel my tv service, they told me they would disable it around the end of the month and that my bill would remain around the same price. This was about a week or two before the bill was sent to me. I also requested that a technician should come to pick the TV reciever box up since I didn't need it, so they scheduled someone to come over on a particular date, and on the scheduled days, not once but TWICE was the appointment completely ignored, and nobody showed up. Nobody called. No communication or explanation whatsoever. Now that I have recieved the bill for not this month but NEXT month, I see that my tv service has not been cancelled, and that they seemed to be holding out on disabling my tv service just so I would have to pay for another month of it. Shady. Too shady. I would switch my internet service to some other provider in a minute, if only suddenlink weren't the ONLY one in my area. read more

We live in the area of Conroe Texas. Optimum bought out Sudden Link or changed their name (either one), but they are just as bad as sudden link, and I never thought anyone else could be that bad. First of all, we had crappy service with them for years and put up with it because there was no other choice, then finally a new company ( Tachus) came to the area so we switched. When we called to disconnect, Optimum kept my husband on the phone for over an hour basically refusing to disconnect us, they kept transferring him from one supervisor to another trying to get us to stay, by going down, down down on the rate until they got way under our new rate at Tachus. Finally, my husband had to get ugly with them to get them to schedule the disconnect. They could have given it to us for free and we still would have still disconnected, that's how bad they are. They told my husband where to go to turn in the equipment. He gets there and the customer service department refused to take the equipment by telling him they don't accept equipment, that it has to go in a "night drop" type box outside the door. No receipt given this way for returning the equipment...how convenient huh...well this morning, surprise surprise... I get an email from them saying we owe $ 335, when we try to log onto our old account log in and view the bill it will NOT allow us to see a bill or charges! but OF COURSE, IT WON'T !! Because they are Crooks! This company is HORRIBLE! If you are in Conroe, exterminate their service and go with Tachus just as soon as it's available in your area. Listen up...Optimum, you are NOT getting one more cent of our money YOU CROOKS! Go ahead and put it on our credit and it will be disputed immediately! Never really had problems with the service itself. internet didn't go out very often. My neighborhood got equipped for fiber so I decided to switch. I got a month free so I kept both to test them out. I decided to keep the fiber and cancel service with optimum. This is where they get one star. Besides the weekly texts I got trying to sell their mobile service. They tried to sell everything under the sun when trying to cancel. 10 minutes of "well would you like to buy this" "no, please just cancel." then after finally getting transferred from the CSR who was zero help, I spoke to the disconnection departmen. (seems kinda sad there's a whole department for disconnections) this CSR also decided to just sell and sell. i just wanted to disconnect and they wasted almost 30 minutes of my time with pointless questions and deals, which honestly just shows they're overcharging as it is. Sorry Optimum but I'm not staying based on a promise that one day you might have fiber. or that you can get me faster speeds when I'm already at your highest tier. don't use this company read more

Just went in to get a copy of my bill and pay it, was immediately shut down for not wearing a mask. They said "you can't be in here unless you have a mask". I, who doesn't have a mask, said "fine, I'll just leave." As I turn around (about at the 90 degree mark) the two individuals at the store go on to say "Yea! You better leave!" and "Good bye, don't come back!". I leave and head back to my car, then realizing that I shouldn't accept that behavior. I reenter the business to ask for their managers information. When I ask them for their managers business card they refused, when I asked for their business card they refused just saying "YOU MUST WEAR A MASK!" Then after about 5-8 seconds of that exchange, they both get up from their seats and proceed to chase me out of the store. One of them leaves the store and chases me about 4-6 feet from the door before he stops. The other individual stays inside the store, although she is clearly up waiting to help if needed. It did have a racial undertone. Edit: I don't usually have a issue with SuddenLink, they're no worse than the average ISP, this review is SPECIFICALLY for this store in Conroe on N Loop. read more

Service is a joke....if you enjoy watching your TV with constant skips, and internet service as dependable as an exwife then this is your provider! I just want to say that Suddenlink is the model child for regulating utilities. Internet service should be considered a utility. Maybe then the Texas a Public Utility could do something. They run their lines on public utility poles and underground right sways but treat their customers like garbage. Knowing that they are at their mercy. For the second month in a row I have an outage that has now lasted 4 days. Have spent literally over 6 hours on the phone to receive one lie after another. First LIE I am told there is an internet outage in my area. And as soon as the outage is repaired my service will come back on. This is after I called in on Friday multiple times without getting a representative. I ran and purchased a new $170 modem in case the fault was on my end. Came home and they set the new modem up. When it didn't work they said let me check got an outage. That was when that lie was told... I waited till Sunday, then spent another 3 hrs on the phone to be told there was no outage. But would set a technical support call for Tuesday and have dispatch give me a call to see if they could move it to a Monday. That was Lie number 2. Then comes Monday no call try calling in to technical support and after going thru their useless self help get to where I am 20 minutes from real help and they have now hung up 4 times. Another 3 hours invested? Final Lie if you work for Suddenlink you must have to agree to be a liar. So remember that when you call in. Going to approach Dan Patrick and local politicians to move the next session of the legislature to classify them as a utility and hold them accountable. They may believe that they can pay off the politicians but the have angered too many voters. Our only hope will be that the PUC puts enough pressure on them that they will sell out. Overpriced service, and poor support. Consolidated Cable ran fiber to our neighborhood and now I have 7x the speed I had with Suddenlink at 1/3rd the price, using the exact same personal router as I was using before. The first time I called Suddenlink to cancel, the Indian service desk person insisted I give them a credit card number to proceed with the cancellation. I refused and asked for an alternate way to cancel and he gave me an 800 number that turned out to not be related to Suddenlink. Subsequent calls to Suddenlink were also routed to an Indian support desk, but the people I spoke to on those calls assured me that it was not their policy to ask for a credit card. So, prepare to possibly be scammed if you call for support, because Suddenlink outsourced their helpdesk to scammers. read more

I pay for Gigabyt speed, have high end commercial gigabyte hardware installed by BestBuy, yet plagued by limited download speed and more importantly, regularly have upload speeds in the 2-4 Megabytes per second, nowhere near 50 on cable. I see their cables are constantly broken as there is limited clearing of trees and tall bushes against their cable lines on poles. very poor maintenance program. there is another outage in my area as I write this post. i will be cancelling their service at Suddenlink/Optima and moving to fiber. read more

Suddenlink has to be not only the worst ISP and cable company in Conroe, it is the worst company I've ever dealt with in my life. The people I've contacted there, without exception, have either been completely incompetent, or liars who say they'll do something and never follow through. Actually I've had two issues with Suddenlink. The first issue involves a $200 gift card they were supposed to send my mother when I signed her up for service last May. It's been seven months and she still has not received the card. I have phoned Suddenlink several times and each time have been promised that the card will be mailed out. Not one of the people at Suddenlink has kept their promise to follow through on this. On to the second problem. About four weeks ago I "upgraded" my Internet service from Suddenlink's 100 Mbps service to Suddenlink's new 1 Gbps service. After "upgrading," my Internet service routinely slows down to a crawl, or just drops out completely. Also, the average speed I get when my service works is ~400 Mbps, which is nowhere near 1 Gbps. After 15+ calls to Suddenlink's tech support line, 3 service techs and numerous calls to supervisors, I am still experiencing the same problem. Not only has Suddenlink not fixed the problem, they are trying to charge $60 for one of the service calls. read more

Terrible services. The cable and internet comes through an AlticeOne box and have had 4 techs to our place because of issues in the brief time we have had SL. The box constantly breaks pairing with mini box in bedroom which incurs a usual call into tech support(helpless reps who don't sound excited to be at work-90% of the time they sound like they are from a Jamaica or Trinidad and Tobago and have attitudes as if they hate their jobs). They take me through the typical power cycle routine and eventually send a tech out. The tech comes out and twice so far have sat here on the phone calling customer service or tech support themselves(40 minute wait) while they wait incompetently for the call center to do something that could be managed on my initial call. The services have outages constantly in my area(The Woodlands, Tx) and if I could go back to Xfinity immediately, or ANY other option, I'd do it. I've had techs out because of 90% of my channel lineup being gone from(once) 2 boxes and(once) bedroom mini. The tech called in and resolved issue with a setting on my account both times. The tech even rolled eyes about this service and these AlticeOne boxes. What a waste of money for the company to roll techs for things that can be handled over the phone! The tech ended up telling me to "remember the NAG settings when you call in" Every time I have mentioned this to a rep over phone they have no idea what I'm talking about. Just flat out terrible. If there was a way to place negative stars I would. I setup new service and they needed to lay a line to complete the install for our service. That was supposed to happen 2/25/2021 and here we are March 4 and still no service. I have called 20+ times to find out what's happening, I get promises and scheduled appointments and yet still no one shows up. I am trying to be a customer but they can't seem to figure out what one hand is doing from the other. This is a joke of a company and the service is absolutely pathetic. I scheduled A week at a time for my house to be connected. I have a Lennar smart house which means the communications and Internet need to be in a special box in the closet that has a large sticker that says so. The installer gets here and has no idea what the box is for, or what the "Smart" house is about. he cut holes in my walls and a week later, seven days, I have yet to have a completed service I've called my sales person I've called his manager, and I've gone by the store, seven days later still no service. My A/C is connected to internet, which means I can't control it. The original installed called- I told him he'll no- he can't come back- why send him back- Shitty service- Do not use!! If I could give this company a 0 star I would! Worst internet & customer service....My husband & I moved to Willis in October 2021, our internet has gone out at least 5 times. It takes at least a week for Suddenlink to come out and when they do send a technician out, that technician can not fix the problem. That technician promises that the one that will fix it will come out same day. (NEVER happens) If anyone in your family relies on internet for work, you will end up either in a public facility (Starbucks) or at a neighbors house who has Tachus! Called in today to register a new modem (I purchased online) in attempt to improve my internet speed. I pay for 200 mps and get avg of 50mps download speed and less than 1.0 upload. While I had tech on phone I saw a speed test go to 215mps, and as soon as I hung up and hit test again it was back down to 50's. WTH? So I called back and went through the whole setup again and 2nd tech got speed up to 220mps after multiple tries. So 2.5 hrs later back to 50-75 mps and 1.0 upload speed. What are they doing???? Isn't it fraudulent to charge for services which are not provided? Side note: First tech tried to tell me modem needed to warm up, which I replied B.S. Then second tech actually ask if I wanted to upgrade to faster speed, wholly cow!! read more

Suddenlink, fool me once, shame on you...fool me twice, shame on me. I decided to give these clowns another chance after talking to a rep that they promised they would get it right this time. So their technician Joseph showed up and he was very friendly, very professional and took his time with everything just to find out at the end that the Fiber wasn't switched on. He said he was fairly new with Suddenlink and he would set me up with someone the next day (today) from 11am to 2pm to come and "turn on the fiber." I appreciated him doing that for me and I waited today for the technician to come out. At 1:40pm, I received a call from the automated system telling me that the technician was on his way. At 2:05, I called to follow up on the technician and was told that he was at my house and waiting on me. I explained to the rep that no one was at my house as I was standing outside waiting on them. She made notes on my account and asked the technician to call me back. I never received a call and when I waited 30 additional minutes, I called back to the "customer service" line to follow up again and was told that the technician left my house because I wasn't home. I waited all day for this technician and he just lied about me not being here. I don't know if this was the same technician that lied the other day and said I wasn't home or if it was a different technician. Either way, SUDDENLINK SUCKS! Trust me people, stay away form this SHI++Y company. They are not worth the headache, stress and aggravation. This is the last thing I needed while moving in to a new home.
