Had Consolidated for years since we are in Katy and that's the only service available. Internet has been garbage for years and has been out half the morning due to the weather. Half the tech support people I talk to tell me the problem is on their side of the system and the other half tell me I don't have internet due to wiring problems in my house. Landline phone still works, so there's that. Tried calling their service number to see if I could find out what's going on. Stupid message "Sorry, an error occurred" followed by the connection dropping is all you get. Crap service and crap technical support. Supposed to be getting fiber tomorrow assuming the weather holds and I can't wait to drop this trash. read more

I noticed having issues with slow internet connection after Hurricane Beryl which was in July 2024. I was too busy at work to take the time to address the issue until December when I had only one day to reach out to Consolidated for help. I contacted customer support in the morning and discovered it was outsourced, but even so they were very polite and asked for a good contact number in case of disconnection which never happened. I spoke to customer support via iphone and explained my issue and tech support was scheduled at 3pm. The tech support "Mike" came to my house 2:30pm, he was early and while he was at my house I explained my issue. He tested my connection and found a single wire in my wall outlet had snapped, strange but I saw it and then noticed another wire outside had an issue being disconnected, I guess connections go bad after over the years. After re-connecting the broken wires this alone improved the speed, but it still was not the full speed at which I was paying for. That was the only day I would be home and had to work the rest of the week. "Mike" the tech reassured me he would examine the line from the street to my house and would keep my ticket open until it was resolved. My speed that week was better but then sometimes it randomly disconnect and reconnect. I could see on my Consolidated Router the lights blinking, the internet light would not and then come back on flickering. I contacted Consolidated the next day in the afternoon explaining my problem and the representative reviewed my ticket and said it was still open, so imagined "Mike" was still working on it. On my way home a few miles away from my house I saw a white van which looked like a Consolidated van and I saw Mike working hard! I got home as sure enough my internet was stable!!!! It was still not my full mbps but I could do what I wanted to do at home without disconnection. The third day now my internet speed is back to normal! Dec 24th "Mike" calls my cell phone while I'm at work and I answer it because I recognized the number is from Consolidated. Mike explains to me my internet should be back to my purchased speed and I reply to him yes and how thankful I am for all his help. He didnt know I saw him working so hard on my way home from work, so thats why I'm writing this review. I know Consolidated hasn't been the best choice for people who live in a somewhat rural area but I have to say they are improving, at least from my experience. Customer support and tech support was a pleasant experience for me out here in Katy Texas. read more

Consolidated Communications (CCI), based in Dallas, says they have a 1Gbps service in Katy Texas. THEY DO NOT! After many calls and hours with technical support a customer support person actually said, "Katy is at the end of CCI's network. 1 Gbps is just not possible from there"! So, they sell it, but cannot not ever provide it. They believe that the disclaimer of "your speeds will vary" covers it. Or maybe they are just talking about their own INTRAnet, not the INTERNET, when they sell it. Do not buy that service from them - I have been trying to get what I pay for and cannot even get close to half (500Mbps). I speedtest often now (testmy.net - the best speed test) and get 120-170 Mbps average. NOT 1000 Mbps! If you want fast in Katy, get service from someone else - CCI talks a big game and cannot / does not deliver. Really bad service AND customer service. I wish we had another option in our neighborhood for internet. Our service buffers constantly. When we call or chat for help they tell us the issue is on our end. We can't log into our account because of a glitch in their system and they end chat support before solving the issue. Well our service has not worked for weeks (landline phone). I have called dozens of times. Mostly the calls end with voice saying we are experiencing large call volumes try again later. I have tried using their web site to figure out where the problem is. On 6/22/2020 phone actually rang I picked it up to a crackly voice of political nature which dropped within 30 seconds. Customer service sends you to technical support and technical support sends you to Customer service. common responses - "I really don't know, they should have sent you an email. I can't help you from here. Let me transfer you" "I don't know what to tell you" "I'm not sure who can help you" All I wanted to know is the static IP address that I paid extra for. Beware if Consolidated decides to add fiber to your neighborhood. They dug up our backyard--newly landscaped backyard. We asked that they be careful of the plants. They broke plants, cut sprinkler line (which they did fix). Even being asked to be careful they still trampled plants. Then they placed a big green monstrosity of a box. I'll never do business with Consolidated Communications again. That's my promise to myself. I was forced to use Consolidated due to lack of coverage in a rural area where I was temporarily staying while closing on my house. I could only get 20mbps internet speed. I never achieved half that - not even once. I was charged $50 for that speed and locked into a year contract. Service was constantly dropping and weak. I was generally very unhappy for the 3 months I had them, but I'm not much of a complainer. I called them once to complain and asked them to make a note on my account that I was very unhappy with service. Fast forward 3 months to where we close on our new home. Consolidated offers 50mbps of service for $60/mo. Not a very attractive rate. I ask Spectrum what they offer and they give 200mbps for $55/mo, no contract, no data caps. Well, that's easy. I call up Consolidated and say I don't want to continue with them because their service is terrible and their prices aren't even competitive. I asked them nicely to waive my early termination fee because it seems like a rip off quite frankly. They never held up their end of the agreement in giving me 20mbps at my last place (I averaged 5-9mbps). So, it's okay for them to not provide what they agreed on but not the other way around? I guess so. Fast forward to today and I get my final monthly bill. I try to log in to pay it online. They've disabled my online account. I call up to pay it and they tell me I get to pay a $1 convenience fee. Oh, how nice. The lady tells me if I don't like that I can mail in a check. The tone in which she quipped really rubbed me wrong. I tell her that it's ridiculous to charge me anything extra, even if it's just $1. After all, they were the ones who disabled my online account to where I'm forced to call them up and pay in the first place. She waives it only after I ask to speak to a manager. I get a call back later today for them to tell me they decided not to waive my $112 termination fee. Reason? I didn't call and complain enough times. So, the moral of the story is: you have to be vocal about how dissatisfied you are with their subpar service. Well, now I am! I'll never do business with Consolidated Communications again. Screw this place. It's the only freaking internet allowed in the neighborhood we are moving to so I cannot use another service. Anyways, booked a install for 5/17 between 12-4pm on the 5/13. Called back the day after and asked if the technician could do it after 2pm or if I could have a one hour heads up as I am currently on the other side of town. That's obviously me asking for a favor trying at a later time which is fine if that is not possible but giving me a call beforehand should be standard practice and a no brained. I show up at 2pm moving stuff in and finally call into Consolidated at 3:57pm to get a update and I'm told, Jesse, the technician showed up at 12:15 with no answer and left after claiming to call me then too. He looks professional sure, but the practicality of hiring a gorilla does not seem appropriate, but let's continue. 7pm: Jojo appears distressed, he begins by smashing a chair against the servers hoping that it was the right fix for the situation, it was not. 8pm: Jojo has eaten his nightly meal in hopes for it to simmer him down from the stressful situation that is his shift, it does not 9pm: Jojo begins to throw he's fecal matter at the servers to cool them down, screeching and flinging like it is what he knows best. There is no worse company for the services they provide. They installed a phone line and didn't bury it for 6 months. The internet service is comparable to dial up at times. Their customer service is horrible. Calling them will get you transferred over and over again. The wait on hold is constant. This has been the same nearly 10 years of their services. The internet's terrible connect rate is the worst of all, constant buffering, going out, or just pain slow. They are the worst we have had as a provider in nearly 30 years. I have had their service (I won't even post name) for 6 years and they have literally been to our home every 5-6 weeks for technical issues! Their technicians either don't have the equipment they need when they come, they don't have the expertise they need to fix the problem, or they miss diagnose what the problem is. As you see from the vast number of service calls we've had - it's an ongoing issue and unfortunately in our neighborhood they are the only game in town unless you want to put a satellite dish on your roof - and we did not. Currently I've waited a week for Internet service to be restored as well as our telephone and have neither to date. I was told by a supervisor Wednesday they would be here Friday between eight and five we waited no one showed up I found them this evening and was told we are on the schedule for June 17th. This is now the third date we've been promised and as I shared with the person on the other end of the car how do I know that they're telling me what will actually happen when previous to this call nothing they've been saying has happened. Sadly for anyone who's got their service, or plans to have their service - it's a huge mistake. Their customer service people don't have answers when you call the tech people don't always know how to fix a problem and when they do it's like a Band-Aid for a wound you just find yourself going in circles at your expense. inter download speeds of 12-15 Mbps in the Westfork neighborhood of Conroe Texas by Consolidated and being charged $70+ per month is completely unacceptable in 2021. This service resembles the dial up modem days of the early 90's. Digital Subscribe Line DSL technology over copper telephone lines developed in the early 1980's by AT&T. The download service is very slow and the upload speed can be painfully slow at less than 1 Mbps. it is not worth the customer service charge for this service. read more

How do I escalate an issue to the Network Operations Center? Fidium in all of their wisdom has a KNOWN issue and just lets it percolate. Be damned to the customers. They know that FUBOTV has been blacklisted by mistake, but, they continue on without rectifying the issue. I'm paying for a subscription to FUBO, but I'm not allowed to use it until Fidium/Consolidated deems itself ready to fix the issue. To make matters worse, it's a known issue, but, they're not going to work on the ticket for a week. I left Xfinity because of price, but I never had to wait a week to get a software issue resolved. They decided they couldn't provide us what we needed so instead of calling us, they flat out cancelled on us because "it's policy" and if we still want service, we have to reschedule another appointment that's several days later than our original day. Each time I would receive a confirmation text for my set appointment to then have the tech not show up. No cancelation text, phone call or email. The quality dissipated each year so it was time to switch, so I basically called them and told them to cancel my service because I wasn't paying anymore for horrible internet so they cancelled. Later, they charged me for equipment, which I turned in, so I had to dispute that charge.
