I'm not sure of the ACTUAL name of this company as the website says mastercomputersandvideo.com and…read morethe email address is info@reelfilmproduction.com but the 'name' shows up as Film Video Audio Restoration. The person who emailed me is Bill Miller and it appears that he is the owner. My grandmother asked me to look into who could convert 8mm to DVD or other form of media. I suggested iMemories and while she said she would be open to that she asked me to find if there was a local option I could take it to for her. So I did a local search and came up with an actual local option and this website which is designed to show as local based on whatever city you search. I found the layout of the website and where they are located a bit suspicious, so before going further with researching them I sent an online inquiry on their Contact Us page that read: Do you have a physical location in Denton, TX where I could bring the media instead of shipping? If so, where is it located and what are the hours of operation? I received an email from Jotform saying to send my request to the email address so I copied my inquiry and emailed it. Later in the day I checked my email and had 2 responses. The first copy and pasted some rules and FAQs and info from his website stating he advertises all over the country, is based out of Houston and shipping is the only option. He made some suggestions and mentioned he was semi retired. The second email was sent 7 minutes later with the subject line "This is the second Email from you I own both Websites" and reads as such (copy/pasted from the email): yah yah yah your precious Memories. I GET IT Tex. You're attempting to search all over the Web-- But My Sites keep coming up for you... WHY-- Because it's not going to happen in your town no matter how many Starbucks and Walmart's you have-- YOU GOT TO GET OVER THE " I don't want to MAIL IT." Syndrome.. I do not use the Minority operated U.S. mail system Don't want to Ship -it, Don't want MAIL -It, it's going to stay in the Clos-IT !! Maybe you have had Shipping problems I never have and do it all day long for 38 years-- and this is the bullshit that make me Semi retired.. The last owner Killed Him Self. Shocked that he would send those 2 wildly different emails to the same customer and make such wild assumptions I replied: I didn't send from 2 websites, I received an autoreply that told me to send the request to this email instead and complied. But don't worry, I won't be bothering you with any business. Have a great day! To which he replied with a subject only that read: Don't want to Ship-it, Don't want MAIL-it, it's going to stay in the Clos-IT!! Even if I were able to put up with the spelling and grammar, I won't give my business to someone so disrespectful. It's my opinion that he is presenting as so unhinged in these email inquires because he wants to be fully retired instead of semi retired, but that's just my deductive reasoning skills based on the customer service I received and the yelp page he attempted to close down. There are 15 reviews and another 11 not recommended with the same rating and telling similar stories. I'm just so GLAD I emailed him and not my poor 81 year old grandmother. For your sake, look elsewhere. Also, I fully expect an equally unhinged response to this review and only posted this review so that others could avoid this hostile insanity. Good luck.

Then he sent the following email to me: you're not giving a s*** what it looks like -- as long as it's not shipped. I rather lose it in the Minority runned U.S. mail system than have a s*** job. Watch the f***ing videos like the site asks you to do and learn somthing ! I starred the offensive words, but you get the picture. Avoid this guy like the plague.

I was excited to see a used bookstore when I was in the area and decided to stop by. Parking is…read moreeasy since it's in a shopping center. The staff here are friendly. I was immediately greeted when I walked in and the man working at the desk made some light conversation when I was checking out. They have a lot of books and they're organized pretty well. The selection didn't have much of a variety as far as what I was looking for (classics and some newer - in the past 5 yrs - titles) but I'm sure it's probably a good selection to others. The pricing matches the name of the store, I suppose. They are priced better than buying a brand new book, but they're not as cheap as buying used books from a second-hand store or a warehouse sale. It's also odd that two of the same used books will go for the exact same price when one has writing in it and the other doesn't. I'd imagine it should be cheaper. Based on some other reviews, for the amount people get for selling their books here, the resale price shouldn't be as high as it is.

Over the years most of the brick and mortar camera stores have left Houston but Humble Camera…read moreCenter still remains! This is my place to shop although a lot of the time I just window shop since my wife says I have too much camera gear! Brad is always helpful. The prices they charge are very fair and often better than the big online stores. They also will often take in trades or buy up older cameras and lenses to resell. The have printing services here and can even mat your work for the frame you have.

This store is completely unethical. I recently bought a used lens here and ended up needing to…read morereturn it. Nowhere on the page of the website does it say that you cannot return used gear (I checked twice, so if the site says it now they have added it after I am posting this review), and they certainly did not tell me in person when I went to the shop. After coming in, I also saw that most of the lenses listed on the website were no longer available. I did my due diligence and called to inquire about the lenses I was interested in before I drove all the way out there, and the employee I spoke to on the phone said everything on the website was in stock. I went to return the one I bought and the manager took a look at it and, unprompted, said it was in the exact same condition as it was when I purchased it. I didn't even use it, so of course caused no damage. It even had all the original packaging I was given when purchased. The only place it is noted that they don't take returns on used gear is on the receipt. When do you get a receipt? AFTER you make a purchase. When would it be ethical to tell a customer you don't take returns on the item they are about to buy? Probably BEFORE you actually purchase it. They offered to buy the lens back from me. I paid over $160 for the lens. They bought it back for $60. Also noteworthy is that it took the manager approximately 10 minutes to inspect the lens and they charge a 15% restocking fee. So basically if you have to return a brand new lens they are charging you 15% for a 10 minute inspection and approximately 1 minute to take the lens out of the box and put it in the display case at the counter. Seems a little ridiculous, but maybe that's just me. So there goes 2+ hours of drive time, plus gas money, plus the loss of $100 when they could have just told me, or at least gave people a heads up on their website that they don't accept returns. I would never have bought a used lens had I known returns were not accepted, as that's not a risk I would be willing to take, especially at that price. If you want to support a local business with good moral and ethical standards, Humble Camera Center is not the place for you. Edited to respond to Mr. Crosby: I was not rude to you or your employees, so I'm not sure why you would assume I would leave a negative review. My facial expressions probably did show my disappointment - I don't have the best poker face - but I was quiet and tried my best to keep my tone neutral. I guess I didn't see the signs. I would expect honest people to be straight-forward and make sure their customers are fully aware of their policies before making a sale. It is, indeed, printed on the receipt. A receipt I received AFTER already purchasing the item. Admittedly, I do not understand such a large restocking percentage as it relates to the very little time and effort it takes you to restock. I understand that you are trying to protect yourself from people attempting to basically rent your gear at no cost to them, however I am simply an honest customer (as I suspect most are) with no ill intentions. I guess I didn't think to ask if I would be able to return the lens. I was not planning to use it and return it, to take advantage of you and your business in any way, and frankly, I am not a psychic. I think it would be far more ethical if you were open and honest. With no heads up that I could not return the item, I did not consider that you would be so morally deficient as to refuse a legitimate return of an item that was in the same condition as it was when purchased, as you mentioned yourself. As you said, you did not sell me the lens, and therefore have no knowledge about what I did or did not ask. I suppose not believing a customer is par for the course with you. Perhaps you did sell the 4 lenses I was looking at that were allegedly available on Saturday before they were removed on Monday. It seems unlikely, but unlike you, I'm willing to give another person the benefit of the doubt. I agree that I did not have to accept your offer. Unfortunately, your suggestion of reselling it myself is far more difficult, risky, and complicated than selling it back to you. And honestly, after over 2 hours of driving, gas money and time spent, I felt very defeated when you refused to refund my money. I did everything I possibly could think of to ensure that I was purchasing from a reputable company, and yet here we are. Also, I do not appreciate your passive-aggressive, rude private message. If I wasn't convinced you were lacking moral integrity before, I am certain of that now. While I am a bit surprised no one has called out your ethical failures until now, I hope you take my honesty to heart and work on improving yourself and your business.
