I'm not sure of the ACTUAL name of this company as the website says mastercomputersandvideo.com and the email address is info@reelfilmproduction.com but the 'name' shows up as Film Video Audio Restoration. The person who emailed me is Bill Miller and it appears that he is the owner. My grandmother asked me to look into who could convert 8mm to DVD or other form of media. I suggested iMemories and while she said she would be open to that she asked me to find if there was a local option I could take it to for her. So I did a local search and came up with an actual local option and this website which is designed to show as local based on whatever city you search. I found the layout of the website and where they are located a bit suspicious, so before going further with researching them I sent an online inquiry on their Contact Us page that read: Do you have a physical location in Denton, TX where I could bring the media instead of shipping? If so, where is it located and what are the hours of operation? I received an email from Jotform saying to send my request to the email address so I copied my inquiry and emailed it. Later in the day I checked my email and had 2 responses. The first copy and pasted some rules and FAQs and info from his website stating he advertises all over the country, is based out of Houston and shipping is the only option. He made some suggestions and mentioned he was semi retired. The second email was sent 7 minutes later with the subject line "This is the second Email from you I own both Websites" and reads as such (copy/pasted from the email): yah yah yah your precious Memories. I GET IT Tex. You're attempting to search all over the Web-- But My Sites keep coming up for you... WHY-- Because it's not going to happen in your town no matter how many Starbucks and Walmart's you have-- YOU GOT TO GET OVER THE " I don't want to MAIL IT." Syndrome.. I do not use the Minority operated U.S. mail system Don't want to Ship -it, Don't want MAIL -It, it's going to stay in the Clos-IT !! Maybe you have had Shipping problems I never have and do it all day long for 38 years-- and this is the bullshit that make me Semi retired.. The last owner Killed Him Self. Shocked that he would send those 2 wildly different emails to the same customer and make such wild assumptions I replied: I didn't send from 2 websites, I received an autoreply that told me to send the request to this email instead and complied. But don't worry, I won't be bothering you with any business. Have a great day! To which he replied with a subject only that read: Don't want to Ship-it, Don't want MAIL-it, it's going to stay in the Clos-IT!! Even if I were able to put up with the spelling and grammar, I won't give my business to someone so disrespectful. It's my opinion that he is presenting as so unhinged in these email inquires because he wants to be fully retired instead of semi retired, but that's just my deductive reasoning skills based on the customer service I received and the yelp page he attempted to close down. There are 15 reviews and another 11 not recommended with the same rating and telling similar stories. I'm just so GLAD I emailed him and not my poor 81 year old grandmother. Bob Austin contacted me and was very unprofessional. I've transferred 8mm and 16mm films using high-end equipment for the past 15 years. I asked a few questions and he hung up on me. Then he sent the following email to me: you're not giving a s*** what it looks like -- as long as it's not shipped. I rather lose it in the Minority runned U.S. mail system than have a s*** job. Wow, after reading the other reviews, I feel like the response I got wasn't so bad. I was looking for someone to take some of the old film (small 3 in kodak reels) that my parents had taken. My mom's house flooded a few years back and some of the reels were water damaged. We helped her clean her house and put the films in our study. Last week we were cleaning and found the reels. I started an internet search and found "Reel Film Productions, LLC" which turns out is also Master Computer and Video. He called from an unknown number and we talked for awhile. He told me he was in Spring Texas (just North of Houston). We discussed how many films I'd send, etc. and the cost. He wanted a check and gave me the address of where to send. Fine. I wrote a check and boxed up a couple films. Meanwhile my husband (who loves to drive, all the time, anywhere) said he'd like to drive it up there in the morning. So I wrote to "Bill" and told him my husband wouldn't mind driving them up there. Here is the response I got: no walk in/ no drop off/ --- There's a Virus going around...again. fedex one day... If you were that concerned about your films. ( getting lost in the "MAIL" you want to Drop Off" ) you should have had this done 10, 20, 30 years ago before they started to rot. i was around then and still here 34 years.. just as cranky as ever. Bill So now I'm a horrible person because I "let them rot for 30 years." Meanwhile he claims that water and fire damaged films are a specialty to him. UPDATE: Since my first Yelp review of Master Computer & Video (November 2015), Bob Austin, the owner of the company, has been harassing me to remove the 1-star rating based on the fact that we did not do any business together. Yelp clearly states in the Content Guidelines that any review is based purely on a personal firsthand consumer experience, which is exactly what I posted about with my first interaction with Bob. I asked him about his business capabilities and what my needs were, and he responded, in my opinion, in a hostile and scolding attitude. That was my firsthand consumer experience. Bob stated that his company could not do what I asked (uncropped 4:3 ratio frame by frame capture) so we did not do any business together, nor did I pay him for any service rendered. My review on Master Computer & Video was based on simple customer service, or lack thereof. After posting my review, Bob contacted me (December 2015) threatening to sue me if I did not remove my comments. Bob used profanity and a threatening tone to try to bully me into removing my review. I simply responded that as a consumer, I have a right to my opinion about his company, and what I wrote was simply the truth about our correspondence. Last week (June 2018) Bob emailed me again. His language was very vulgar, and he was personally attacking me to once again remove my Yelp review. I again pointed out that I have the right to post what I did, and I was not removing my review. The interesting part of this correspondence is that I am not the only person with bad experience interacting with Bob Austin, so obviously this is not an isolated case. I hope that anyone else who has left a bad review of Master Computer & Video is not being verbally harassed or bullied into removing the review by Bob. I did not realize how good Bob's work was until I investigated his work and after having had films transferred in the past no one compares to his work. It was worth every penny I spent to have my high school football films transferred so my family and I could reminisce- my brothers and sisters had been bugging me to have it done for some time and I am so thankful I finally did it! I emailed them to get a price quote since it was for a business that needed to budget for the expense and here is what they wrote back: "I don't give quotes or Bids! If you get quotes and bids.. his films are going to get butchered. shopping by price is not the way to do this. Do you think all companies work is the same? Do you have any interest in Seeing other company's work? Do you have any interest in seeing my work? A PRICE SHEET WILL HELP YOU IF YOU SEE THE WORK THAT IS ASSOCIATED WITH IT. But what do you care.. it's not your families film history or training film? these are just rhetorical questions. and remember.. if you pick the wrong company. I highly recommend having Master Computer & Video convert your home movies into DVD's. Peter did a fantastic job with the many reels of my family's home movies. I was nervous sending them, not knowing if what I read on the website would be true. It certainly is true! The adding of titles, music, sound effects, and sharpening the picture really makes a difference. When dealing with Peter, I could tell he takes his work seriously. That's what you want when someone is handling your family home movies. My family loves what Peter did to our movies, and you will too. read more

He wrote back and told me to get off my "I-Pud." I asked him where in Vermont he is located (becaues he website said he is in Vermont when I searched) and he said that it can't be done locally and that I need to read his email. So I wrote back and said I'd fine someone near me because I don't want to send the videos. Then he went OFF. I received multiple attacking emails saying many derogatory things and using extremely foul language. (F words, even saying that Trump is going to take the "C" word down tonight). I just called this "business" looking to transfer 8mm films to DVD. I had read the very blunt requirements on the website (by the way the links are under this name and Reel Film Production) about the MUST to watch the comparison page before calling or don't waste his time. I watched several. Videos looked ok but when I called inquiring if there was a location in the Dallas area he wanted to make sure I had watched the videos FIRST. I said I had but didn't want to ship these off to Spring, where he is located. He called me a moron, told me I had never watched his videos and hung up on me. I should have known from the tone of his websites but I couldn't help it. I called back. He had me on speaker and was screaming and cussing me the entire time. Told me I was a f-ing idiot and hadn't watched anything. I asked how he did business like this and he screamed back that he could sit there and scream all F-ing day and his business would still do just fine. He said something about "getting me" at the top of his lungs before hanging up again. There is something seriously wrong with this person. I am not exaggerating. Don't believe me, give him a call and try telling him you may go somewhere else. Wow. Do NOT trust someone this crazy with your precious memories.
