"Adventure Begins is an awesome shop and one of the best places around for comics, Pokémon, games, and collectibles. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and you can tell they genuinely care about the community and the hobby. One thing I really respect is how they changed their Pokémon card policy to help combat scalpers. Real Pokémon fans usually don't mind if the factory seal is cut when buying product because the cards and packs inside are still untouched, and it helps keep product in the hands of actual collectors and players instead of resellers clearing shelves. If you do want fully sealed product, they still offer it at current market price, which is a fair balance for everyone. Took my son here today because he is getting more into RPG's and table top games. The staff was very knowledgeable about all the games and were able to recommend some options based on his age and what he's interested in. They've got so much there! They also have a place to play games upstairs. They are very reasonably priced for the quality you are getting. And they have a loyalty program as well. read more

5-Star Review for The Adventure Begins Comic Shop In town for the weekend with my wife and kids and decided to swing by The Adventure Begins on a whim--easily one of the best comic shop stops we've ever made. It also happened to be Free Comic Book Day, so the place was packed, wall-to-wall with people, and still everything ran smoothly. The shop is immaculate--super clean and perfectly organized, with everything easy to find. Even with the crowd, it never felt chaotic. The atmosphere was inviting, energetic, and just plain fun. They even had reasonable prices on Pokemon. The staff? Incredible. Super friendly and ridiculously knowledgeable. And the best surprise? One of the folks working the floor is a legit rock star--someone we actually used to watch on tour! He was cool, funny, and completely down-to-earth. Easily the highlight of our visit. They've got a huge variety of products, from comics and collectibles to games and more. Honestly, this place nails it on every level. Five stars, no question. What I loved about this place is the vibe & features that they include as a card shop. They have a diverse selection of baseball, football, nascar, ufc, soccer, hockey and basketball cards. Along with signed memorabilia and local team merchandise. There's LEGO collection, a card table, featuring a free card selection in the lounge and books. Love that they host card trading camps, events, and the culture is just amazing. We were assisted by a kind gentleman when we were there and both my sons are excited about coming back. read more

It's rare to find a place that manages to offer excellent service, selection, and community to a broad cross section of hobbyists, but The Adventure Begins nails it. This two-story shop is massive and well stocked for those into comics, sports cards and memorabilia, role-playing games, model building, etc. But the store's best asset is the staff of well-informed, passionate, and helpful employees who clearly love engaging with customers to help them fully enjoy their hobbies. Our favorite is Lou, who manages the sports cards and collectibles operation. Lou and his team truly care about building community and treat customers like long-term investments, not just short-term sales. Our daughter learned a new phrase! Our family visited on Saturday. With the power out they were still pretty busy and from what we could make out, it was a nice looking place. We were just about head out when we heard a slue of "F-words," a "Go F-yourself," a "POS," and our daughters favorite new phrase, "Little B". From what we gathered, these were being yelled by an employee to a manager about a checklist of some sort. The reason this post has any stars at all is because of the manager being calm and diffusing the situation professionally. As well as being very apologetic to everyone around. It will be a while before come back in and we hope, for both our our daughters' sake, that we do not run into the foul mouth young man. read more

I had gone there multiple times, but something horrible happened today at this little business on FM 14-88, and I will share this story with you. Read in full, and you will know never to visit this place. At the time, all the tables were taken, and I planned to sit in quiet and peacefully play on my computer, but could not. The noise in the upstairs room was loud due to the crowding, so I wandered around talking nice to others and sharing in conversations. Nobody had any problems with me, and I was able to inquire into the games they played, watch the play, and so on. I had a nice conversation about Chinese takeout. I even noticed a kid in distress and asked him where his parents were; he was covering his ears from the noise and I asked him where his parents were, but it turned out he was already calling his mother. There are kids in places like this, so being polite is a moral obligation, as well as being on the watchout for kids left alone. Anyway, these things happened, and more, but everything was good at first, until the horrible evil dude showed up. There was this awful, hateful, bitter, angry Karen guy. This man was just brutally mean for no good reason, and filled with spite. When I went by his table, I looked to the miniatures and made a joke to clear the mood. I said: "So, are these pieces edible?". At no point did I touch the pieces, and at no point was this done in any serious way. It was purely a joke, and any reasonable person could see such. However, I was not dealing with a reasonable person, so his reaction was instant anger, but this is not where it ends. It gets worse. That male Karen was just plain mean, and so I left him along and went to see how others were doing. All the while, he glared at me when I would go talk to others, and as I witness his prying predatory eyes, I chose to ask the same joke to an adjacent table: "So, are these pieces edible?". The table smiled, chuckled, and one guy shook his head and said "No". They were pleasant people to be around. However, the psychopathic glare of the Male Karen still pointed to me, so I responded "See, this is how you should treat others. Stop staring at me so hatefully, Karen." This is the first time I called him Karen, and boy was this statement accurate. I had no idea just how awful this guy was. He made complaints to the management about me, claiming that I was harassing others. Then, this angry jerk forced the management to remove me from the building under completely such false justifications. It gets worse. Not only had I committed no wrongs, but that male Karen made threats against me, and while none were explicitely detailed, they were clearly threats of unjust action against me. Still, The Adventure Begins management chose to side with that horrible person instead of doing the right thing and ignoring their false complaints. So, now they get a legitimate complaint in the form of a serious negative review. When I was encouraged to leave, a brief exchange that occured: Karen: "Do you know who I am? You should be careful because of who you just [x]ed off." Me: "What? Are you planning to come to my home and kill me?" Karen: "Do you not value your life?" And yet, despite these statements that implied violence agaibnst me, I was the one who was forced to leave the establishment. The staff helped the person committing wrongs and went after me. I will never return to this Godforsaken business. They protected a man who made threats of violence and acted as his right hand to punish the target of that man's threats; this is the type of awful that is committed by the staff at The Adventure Begins. Go to literally any other tabletop store in the Conroe Texas area. There are plenty more choices. The Adventure Begins does not deserve my money, nor does it deserve yours. I refuse to go back there, and I ask you all to treat this place under the same mindset if you have any selfrespect. read more

Took the kids in to get some comics and they loved the place. It has a great selection, but what really blew me away was the game area. Not only did it have a huge selection of board games but it had half a dozen premium game tables. The place is the nicest comic book store I have been to in a long time. I highly recommend this place for the average or beginner comic book fan. read more

Found this place on Yelp! and I'm mad at myself for not finding this place sooner. It is the most legit, clean, well organized, best priced comic, card, board game store I've been to in the area. Everything is well organized from the statue display area, to the manga, kid section, comics, and board game/ tabletop area. Everything was very nice and appealing to the eyes. They had some cool wall books, some autographed, great selection of comics and cards. The board game/ table top selection is why I went here and it was massive. They had just about every board game that is popular. Their demo game selection was big as well. They had action figures as well and even old sports card packs. I got what I was looking for here and the prices were pretty competitive. Support this business, because we need places like this to keep our fandom alive. The young lady who was working there at the time was very kind, professional, and helpful.
