What a nostalgic spot - nestled in a somewhat busy plaza right off the feeder of I-45N & 242 in…read moreShenandoah! Cute, quaint, and filled to the brim with comics and more! I recently stopped by here with my boys after having some services done at the salons next door and am SO glad we decided to pop in! From the moment you open the door - the smell of comics (and even my own childhood!) consume you. There is SO much to see and look for - it's easy to spend the whole day inside and potentially go broke. My kids gravitated right to the youth section, which was aptly positioned right near the entrance (I say aptly, because once you venture in a bit more, you do have to pass by the more "adult" side of the comic world), and immediately found a few new additions to their at-home library! As if that wasn't enough to reel one in, they even sat down to indulge in a few chess moves. ;) Of course, finding all the nostalgia and collectibles further toward the back of the store was icing on the cake. There were several aisles of toys and figures - pop culture and more! - should that tickle your comic book-loving fancy. Just don't say I didn't warn you! I love that the staff welcomed the kids and engaged with them. The two young(er) folks working that day were super knowledgeable and well-versed in the comic book world and I am here for it. They took time to share all about the store, the programs and clubs of times past - here's to hoping they come back!! - and offered a much needed welcome to the comic book kids of today in this area. If I'm being honest, it made for a great first-time visitor experience. Overall, I highly recommend stopping by and for the life of me, am still scratching my head to understand why we've not stopped in sooner! There's so few stores of this magnitude on this side of town - and it's worth it. Definitely a go-to on my list of my kids' favorite spots...

Have been going to Space Cadets since highschool. While I no longer live in Texas in my most recent…read moretrip back to Texas I decided to cave for some nostalgia. Now in a new, well lit location; with staff just as friendly as they always have been. The selection is slightly different than it was but 5 years change does that haha. More anime figures a bigger comics and huge manga selection as well as a nice pokemon card selection and some miscellaneous anime and comics merch. Will forever love this place. Miss their selection of random bags of pokemon toys that if memory had served me correctly was because they had a friend who was a pilot who would go to japanese thrift stores to sell things in the store here? unsure if they still do it, couldn't find my beloved baggies of little pokemon toys but thats okay. Look forwards to being a regular here again when I move back.

The cutest bookstore with the cutest cat…read more Every time I pass a bookstore I absolutely have to stop in, and I am so happy that I did with Buy The Book. This shop has both new and used books, along with some craft items from local sellers along the front windows. Though the sections for each genre are a little smaller there's a good selection of books to choose from. The shop is bright and airy with places to sit and read in a quiet space if you feel so inclined, and you just may be graced with the bookstore cat Luna's presence if you decide to do so. She was very sweet and made the experience all the better. Just make sure to heed the sign on the front door to not let her outside! I'm a huge advocate for supporting local bookstores, and I highly recommend you visit this one!

Ambiance: Whimsically cute bookshop tucked away in a small boutique shopping area off Sawdust - Buy…read moreThe Book is a must visit when shopping for a favorite author or looking to find another book to read! I love going in and seeing their bookstore cat Luna! Luna will ensure you feel welcomed as you peruse the various bookshelves. Many books are used but in good condition and even better pricing! They offer multiple events each month from writing meetups to tarot card readings. Definitely recommend checking their upcoming event calendar if you are wanting to get more involved in reading/writing or the local community. Parking onsite! Child-friendly with an entire playroom area perfect for kids to scroll through potential favorite books. Lots of YA books available. They have a cute section of "Blind date" books (Books that are wrapped so you can be surprised once you get home!) Lots of trinkets and small gifts available for purchase. A great spot for finding a unique book or gift.
