Are you looking for an obscure piece of memorabilia? Dig deep in the shelves of this place and you just might find it. Honestly, it was like walking into the home of a hoarder. There is stuff crammed onto stuff crammed onto stuff. Yes, seriously.
I wasn't happy when I walked in with my Service Dog and was told Strudel had to leave. I pointed out that Strudel is a working service dog, not a pet, and if she leaves than I leave and so does my money. She followed me around the store for quite some time which always makes me uncomfortable but that is part of why this place gets a 3 star rating; not knowing the law regarding service dogs. I hope I educated her and opened the doors for other service dog owners.
The Dug Out has so much stuff you can't believe it!! I bought a very cool Bears window light, a Bears hip bag and some other trinkets. They do give a military discount but you must ask for it as its not posted anywhere.
It's a bit pricey on some things very reasonable on others. Military discount will come in handy for Veterans.
The owner was a bit on the cranky side when we first arrived and we stood toe to toe over the service dog issue but by the end of our visit she had warmed up. Was it the money we spent or the conversation we had about her sister, a Veteran, who passed last year? I may never know the truth but I am grateful.
Check this place out if you are in the area. It's definitely worth it. read more
