Beautiful bookstore with lots of character! This store is absolutely packed from floor to ceiling with an amazing collection of books. The variety they offer here strikes a perfect blend of old and new, encompassing thousands of gently used books to plenty of well curated new releases. The books are sorted into dozens of nooks and crannies that are clearly labeled by genre. Even though the piles of books can seem intimidating at first, it's actually very easy to find what you're looking for and simultaneously stumble upon something new and unexpected. I love that there are comfortable reading chairs hidden among the shelves, making this a very welcoming place to stay awhile. Their sign advertises that they buy, sell, and trade books, which I have missed doing since the old Half Price Books left our area a few years ago. I went to Copperfield's Book Shop and participated in their Houston Book Crawl last weekend. I enjoyed the variety of new and used books and book accessories here. My husband and I enjoyed walking around looking at all the selections. This a fun place to explore for a good deal. My used James Patterson book was $4. The staff informed me they're having a Spring Author Fair this weekend so I'm sure more people will be there to check out this place. read more

I walked into a magical maze with twists and turns at every corner, with books beautifully displayed in nooks and hidden spaces. There's a mystery here of books and stories I knew nothing about. I found a treasure trove of romance, mystery, suspense, and sci-fi. The store is like a fairytale with its decorative door and secret places to sit and read. One area had checkers, another with a chair facing the books, and on and on. Oh, and the best gifts to give to a book lover. They have the prettiest books marks, notepads, shirts, candles, jewelry, and a collection of Harry Potter. I had a lovely chat with the owner. She and her daughter stalked this place in a good kind of way to be the next owners. You see, she and her daughter love books too. She grew up not too far from this store. I was here for two hours, and I'll be back to this hidden gem. I say hidden but it's a lot of people coming and going. read more

We found this bookstore in Spring. .Nice used bookstore with a large selection of books. They take in books for credit. The store also has many gift items from socks, note pads to nice looking drink coasters. Come in and visit with the owner & pick up some books. Yay for independent bookstores!! I love this place. They have a great selection of books. They have a lot of used books, but they also carry new books. They also have have a really cute selection for book lover gifts (from bookmarks to keychains to shirts!). The staff is super friendly and helpful. And most importantly, they are super excited about books. I came here on Independent Bookstore Day yesterday, and had a blast. They gave out tote bags, cookies, and had a raffle going (I got a free bookmark! and my fiancé got a keychain!) I'll definitely be back!! read more

Ventured into Copperfield's Books recently after a very long hiatus. This store was a frequent stop of ours for years. Literally, my husband would go in about once a week, the kids and I would tag along and mosey over to the TCBY that was next door. We'd fill our faces and he'd fill his head. Occasionally I'd accompany him, as their selection of children's books, romance novels and popular fiction was very comprehensive. Once the kids got into high school, this store always had copies of the novels or plays they had to read. And the Cliff's Notes. TCBY closed, but hubby kept coming back to Copperfield's, as their history section of books was superb. He'd get credit for trading in paperbacks, which enabled him to buy even more paperbacks, and usually he spent under a dollar for multiple books. But Copperfield's had a change in ownership and management, the store got a bit disheveled and he stopped going because he said it just wasn't worth it. Now Copperfield's is under completely new ownership and the store has been trimmed to about half the size it once was. It has been organized much better than it was in recent years, so it is quite tidy despite the fact that it is a bit cramped, in my opinion. The quality of the selection of books depends on the genre. Current (popular) fiction seemed to be very well represented (although many of the books looked as if they had been read numerous times); children's books (elementary school-aged) had an adequate selection; young readers (pre-school) was lacking in content, variety and (e-gads!) organization; my husband commented that the history section wasn't as broad as he'd like to see. I did see a large display of Cliff's Notes, but didn't set my eyes on any new editions of the classics that used to dot the shelves here. Perhaps I just missed those. Copperfield's does have a trade-in policy that is very clearly stated and defined. Some of it is a bit restrictive: bring in a romance or sci-fi book, you can only use that credit for another romance or sci-fi book. Read all of their policies prior to offering your books to them for trade. We'll be back to Copperfield's, that is for sure. Chances are, though, that we won't come as frequently as we used to, however. The selection just isn't there for us and their trade-in policy has gotten a bit too limiting for our tastes. There is no arguing this fact, though: this store sells paperbacks at a fraction of the price of regular bookstores (spare Half Price Books). If you're looking for current paperback publications, this is the place to go. read more

Being comprised mostly of used books, some heavily, their selection is definitely something of a mixed bag. If you're looking for an old out-of-print book, even if it's something like an obscure science fiction or fantasy novel, this is a great place to look. Conversely, if you're looking for a good history book, a lot of their titles are dated and do not hold up well to modern scrutiny. While their books aren't particularly expensive, some of them were overpriced for the condition they're in. Some sections could be organized and labeled a bit better to improve accessibility. The employees are polite and attentive. It's not a bad bookstore by any means, but it does lag behind other independent bookstores I've been to and lacks the same value that chains like Half Price Books and online retailers have been able to provide in this space. Overall, I'm inclined to appreciate this store, but it wouldn't be my first choice to look for a book based on the quality of their selection and condition of some of their books. It's definitely worth exploring, but it wouldn't be my first choice based on what's locally available. read more

My husband and I and our little girl went into this darling little shop for the first time, I love intimate bookstores. When we walked in the woman greeted us and asked if we were looking for anything in particular and we told her no thank you just wanted to look around. I liked the little area that yall have for the kids to sit while the parents look through the books, my daughter loved sitting on the bags for the first time and thank you for getting her the little push book so she would sit still. I seen the little painting in front of the checkout it was pretty and I couldn't help but take a picture of it. They have a huge selection of books that I couldn't get through all the way during our first visit. Will be back soon. read more

I bought a gift certificate several years ago for my husband. He never used it so after he passed away, I took it to the store to redeem it for myself.
