Over the years most of the brick and mortar camera stores have left Houston but Humble Camera Center still remains! This is my place to shop although a lot of the time I just window shop since my wife says I have too much camera gear! Brad is always helpful. The prices they charge are very fair and often better than the big online stores. They also will often take in trades or buy up older cameras and lenses to resell. The have printing services here and can even mat your work for the frame you have. read more

This quaint spot was a great stop and has many photographic jewels! They charge $25 upfront to diagnose the issue that gets applied toward any repair that your camera baby may need- bear in mind if it doesn't require additional repairing, they keep the $25 as your fee. read more

I had a few lens that needed to be calibrated to my new camera. First I called to see what a turn-around time would be, since I live off my camera, and Brad, the owner told me to bring in my equipment and he would see if the lens did indeed needed calibration, or some minor adjustments to the camera instead. He was professional and knowledgeable about my camera and the lens that I had and told me the day everything would be finished. No issues, everything was ready that day, and we spoke for about a half a hour as he showed me some features to my camera I would have found out later about, but this fasten my learning curve. I will continue to use them, even thou I am a little distance away, it won't be a problem drivng to them again when needed. Will recommend. read more

My camera and I are close. We travel together, attend family events as a pair and really are inseparable. So when the built in flash quit working in the wilds of Maine and high school football season looming, I knew a trip to the canon repair center was out and looked for a local option with my fingers crossed. Humble camera center was nearby so I headed over. I entered the shop to find an impressive display of current camera equipment and displays but I knew I'd found the right place when I saw the collection of vintage equipment. The young man behind the counter was working with another customer but took a moment to acknowledge me and let me know he would get to me soon. When we spoke he quickly wrote my ticket and said they would assess and call with a quote. They did so within 24 hours and I was able to pick up my camera, cleaned and repaired the next day. I cannot figure out what the bad reviews about film development from here are all about. I had a wonderful experience with this place, and think they deserve to be used for development and film scans. my film came back in wonderful condition and the scans came back flawless. I read some reviews talking about excessive dust or scratches, but I chalk that up to poor maintenance on the camera used for the photographs. The scans I got back were fantastically developed and came back fast! I also got my OM-2 cleaned while I was at it and it looks amazing! Everything looks spotless, and the job was done fast as well! I was nervous when I read the other reviews but I will definitely come back here for work I need done! read more

I recently had to euthanize my canine who was my best friend for the past 11 years. It was devastating beyond words. I ordered an urn that holds a photo. I selected my photo to have it printed and my heart felt goodbye. Brad took care in printing the the single photo I could see the tears in his eyes as he handed me the envelope and said this one is on me. No words would come out I could only shake his hand. It's so hard to find people in the business community these days that are compassionate and not consumed with "how much is my compassion going to cost me". Brad and his wife Kimberly were extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I came into Humble Camera Center in hopes of getting my dads film camera from the 80's up and running again. Brad was able to do just that. Within a day or two my camera was cleaned, repaired, and ready to go! Before visiting HCC I had zero knowledge on film cameras. I had called Humble Camera Center on the recommendation of another photo lab That couldn't handle this type of print. I needed an 8 X 10 of a retirement photo of my Navy Veteran Brother. I only had a portrait negative. The Owner Brad Crosby said they could do this print job. I went there today and met with Doug who was manning the store. He said he could have it done in 30 minutes or so. I did some shopping and returned to see not one but two copies. Also included was a digital CD of the image. When I went to pay, Doug said no charge in honor of my Veteran Brothers Service! Needless to say I was in awe of their gratitude and customer service. Friendly service, competitive prices for camera repairs, and quick turn around. But, don't trust them with your film. I wanted to love this place since it's close and cheap, but my scans came back with crazy levels of dust and scratches. Like huge scratches that span multiple frames. I checked my negatives and there was gunk on them in spots as well. I've been getting filmed developed in Utah, Austin, and Los Angeles for the last ten years and never seen such poor quality or handling of negatives. read more

I've been going to Humble Camera since I was little, when my parents had a Nikon point-and-shoot that needed repair. Now I go to buy and develop film, check out used cameras, equipment and supplies. They're extremely knowledgeable and very kind (even to a beginner like me). Always happy to answer questions, give advice, and recommend new techniques. I introduced a friend to them this summer, he bought a Nikon DSLR, a lens, and some accessories. Doug answered all his questions and suggested the perfect equipment for his needs and budget. They develop 35mm and medium format film in-house, print posters, frame, and sell and rent camera/accessories. In addition to all that, they're locally owned. I bought a used NikonD600 that had a previous service advisory that had come and gone. Unknown to me at the time, I used it once and the shutter stopped responding. The warranty had expired and the charge was going to be $400 for repair. I went in because the film had broken from the roll inside of my Canon 35mm slr and I wanted to save it if possible. Doug was very helpful. He took a look at the camera, then got out the box they use to unwind the film manually. I was expecting to have to drop off my camera and pay for their effort but Doug just took care of it right there on the spot and for no charge. He also examined the camera and showed me where the foam was wearing down and advised that I would need to get that replaced before it turns to goo and starts to ruin the film. He was really helpful and informative but never pushy with trying to make a sale. Because of this I went ahead and bought some lense cleaner and cloths because I wanted to give them my business. Oh yeah, another place wanted $200 to clean my ae-1 program but Doug said they would do a complete job for $35! That's easily the lowest price I've been quoted to clean this camera. I live in Austin but when I go back to visit my folks over the holidays, I'm definitely going to take my canon back for the cleaning. Thanks Doug! read more

Wow, fixed my broken lens in 1 day! These guys are awesome and run a shop like it should be run. Called 1st day to see if it could be fixed then drooped it off after work. Brad called me after lunch the 2nd day and offered a couple repair options with prices and then said it would be ready soon and I picked it up after work on the 2nd day for exactly what he quoted. Took my Canon 50d here that was not working. I was first told it could not be repaired by Canon because it was so old and they no longer sold the parts. Upon calling Canon myself, I was told it could be repaired. Humble Camera then said it was DC Board and it needed to be sent off and the estimate to repair was $300. I decided to pick camera up myself and send to Canon. Ummmm, when it arrived to Canon the ONLY thing wrong was the battery door that needed replaced. For $40 dollars I could have driven to Houston and had this replaced in 5 minutes. However, because of the incompetent and money making scheme Humble Camera is trying to run it cost me way more. So disappointed as I prefer to do business locally BUT this place is a JOKE! I would never step foot back in the door or advise anyone else to either. Save your self the hassle and some $ and take the drive into Houston. I have never left negative feedback on anyone, but I felt it was important to share my experience so others were not taken advantage of.
