Took it to Professional Camera Repair today and he not only looked at the camera for free, but he also walked me through tips on preventing damage to the camera in the future. I dropped off my camera to get the body cleaned because little dust particles were showing up in pictures. In general the service is sufficient. I dropped off my camera and they gave me my memory card and lenses back. Then they told me that it will take about a week to get it cleaned. I got my D200 done for $70, and when I came to pick it up they showed me how dirty it was lolol. I think it's a good place to stop by if you are close and need to get your camera cleaned. I do agree that parking is very limited, but I never had a problem finding parking as most people don't stay for long. read more

After dropping my canon 24-70 lens, it created a dent in the ring where I couldn't put a filter on it. So I took it in to see if it could be put back into place. Well a few minutes later and $10 short, it was screwing fine. Sure, I could be nit-picky about them not cleaning the glass afterwards but very pleased overall. btw - this place is run by a family (parents & their son) who apparently have been in this line of business for generations. Quick, friendly service. This guy does brisk business, so don't be surprised by a line on a Saturday, and parking can be a little tricky. He only services SLRs and larger cameras; as he told one family, you'll spend enough fixing a point and shoot that you are better off just replacing them. My lens survived miles of backcountry and other, more perilous environs but suffered a pretty stupid drop at home. Crunch. Fortunately, the lens was fine, but removing the busted filter ring was going to take a saw, and I figured it best to leave it to the professional. Ten bucks is quite reasonable. I went here to get my mirrorless Fuji XT-10 camera sensor cleaned. I've been noticing a lot of dark spots showing up on my photos lately and figured it's time to get it cleaned. Yasir quoted me $95 plus tax for the cleaning and I though that's very reasonable. He called me 2 days later to let me know that lint and dust had become stuck behind the sensor and between the optical glass filter. He patiently explained to me what was wrong and that my camera would basically need to be shipped to Fuji to get it cleaned. I take picture at Rodoe's and get a lot of dirt/sand all on me, so I assumed my camera was needing a deep cleaning. My girlfriend had a 50+ year old Pentax that had ample sentimental value to her, but has not been working for the past few years. The staff here was super knowledgable and were able to see that the camera A) was more than just a camera to her and B) discovered that it was a simple issue, easily corrected by the older gentleman behind the counter. Came by with a Nikon D750 after an oversea trip and the mirror flipped. Of course I didn't know that so brought the camera out and complained that the photos are not usable, way too dark, particularly at the center. The guy took a look at it and flipped the mirror back and all was good. He wouldn't even charge me anything saying these things are pretty common through TSA checking. Professional Camera Repair has my business for life. I've been in two times now and both times I've been extremely satisfied with the service and knowledge this family-owned business provides. I own a Nikon D610 and experienced a massive mechanical failure while on a shoot one day. I feared the worst and brought it into Yasir to diagnose. Within a few seconds he had identified the problem and unfortunately it needed a specific part that could only be obtained and installed by Nikon (sigh). Even though Yasir couldn't fix it (thanks to Nikon) he told me exactly what I needed to do AND didn't charge me a penny for the diagnosis. I was beyond grateful. SO, when my 85mm became loose and wobbly when mounted on my body, I knew exactly who to take it to! Again, Yasir took a quick look and determined it was a few loose screws and quickly tightened them up for me (again no charge). I have left my camera with him to get the sensor cleaned and can't wait to get it back in a few days AND to see the before and after sample photos! I goofed with my new Pentax K7. I installed a lens adapter to allow me to use some of my old collection of Asahi Pentax lenses with screw mounts. Apparently I did something wrong and the adapter would not come off. Great. So I looked up camera repair and found Professional Camera Repair on Richmond. It only took a couple of minutes and they had the adapter removed. Then gave me a subtle lesson on how to properly use it. ;-) And on top of my sense of relief at getting the problem fixed there was no charge. I will definitely be taking my DSLR to them if there is another problem. Note: I was able to stop by on a Wednesday morning and there was no traffic or parking problem. I was in Houston for a friend's wedding and had with me a DSLR camera that had just come back from repair with the dealer. I didn't have time to check out the camera before arriving to Houston, so I was panicked when I discovered that during the repair of my camera, the focusing screen was removed and they (NOT Professional Camera Repair, but the dealer repairmen) neglected to replace it, leaving me with a tunnel-vision, nearly unshootable camera the day before a dear friend's wedding. Crisis! The first place in Houston I called wanted $60 just for the focusing screen, so I kept calling around. Luckily I called Professional Camera Repair next; they had the part I needed in stock and only wanted $25 for the screen and the labor to install it for me. Obviously, I rushed right over. During the installation they also started dusting in my camera and were doing such a good job at it that I opted to pay an extra $5 to have them continue dusting to get the camera up to good shape. I work in a camera store, so I know my way around professional photographic equipment and can tell when I'm dealing with someone who does as well. These guys know what they're doing, they're charging a more than reasonable price (many of the camera equipment I saw in their cases while I was waiting was high quality gear--Hasselblads, Leicas, and Rolleis--for a very good price), and they will handle your equipment quickly, professionally, and carefully. Don't even bother calling the other places if you need a repair; just go straight to these guys. read more

Been here numerous times and although I'm not a professional photographer, it's in my genes and when my big daddy DSLR needed cleaning, the $100 price no biggie, but it was 6 years old and the owner told me about Canon's loyalty program and talked to me about getting a 60D which is much less $ than the 6D but had the features I wanted, so in lieu of $300 repair, will go with his advice and use the loyalty program, appreciate his education. He repaired a zoom lens for my DSLR, which had seen a zip line a little too up close and personal, charge $97.00. I don't review much but I need to tell you my story and recommend you all check this place out. I use a Nikon and I took a trip to the east coast lately..but I was so disappointed with the outcome of my photographs .. I have these dark grey patches all over my pictures specially the ones that I took with a small aperture size. What a bummer...so disappointed and honestly I was so frustrated. So I googled and tried my hands on cleaning the sensor.. Got a swab and a solution from Amazon and thinking I did an awesome job took some more photographs and when I transferred them to my Mac..holy moly they were literally yakiee!! I have residue of the solution , lint from that swab and whatever oils and dirt was there remained as it was. I was like please give me a break , called up Nikon , they quoted an outrageous price and a 14 days turnaround and i was like no way ...not during the holidays. Started looking for a repair shop locally and I am so glad I found this place. Made a call , told him what the problem was and showed up there with my camera. Yasir is a great guy; very polite and he was so humble. He used my camera and took a test shot. He also assured me that there was no scratches on my sensor and that's a good thing. I turned in my camera and called me today t tell me that it was ready and ohh boy you won't believe it ... Everything ... I mean literally all these spots are gone .. No residue no lint... Nothing!!! It was squeaky clean!!! I couldn't even relate the before and after pictures. Excellent work!!! I went here to get a small screw for my camera's LCD screen. I was in the shop for about 2 minutes. Guy came back with the screw in place and said he tightened all other screws on the camera (which 1. I did not need and 2. I could have done myself), and then he charged me 5 bucks. My father had an old Olympus 35SP which he gave to me. I knew the camera needed to clean the fungus at the lens and probably an adjustment. I wrote to them just before Christmas 16 and they gave an estimate of $80.00 USD, without seeing the camera, just as estimate.. Even said that depending the condition, it may not be worth. After the holidays, when they came back, I took the camera there and ask to take a look... They mention: There is some fungus, so to clean it, will be $32.00 USD... I said OK, go ahead. I know that 80 + 32 was probably about the cost of a camera on eBay, but there is emotional attachment to the camera... When they gave me the receipt, it was marked only $32. I mentioned: Was not 80 + 32? Are you correct? - Yes, the camera is in good shape, so only need to clean the fungus.... Wow!!!! They knew I was there, ready to pay $80 USD, so could have charged me that... But instead, they are very honest people and ask for what was the job done! Also, I took the camera in a Wednesday. They mentioned that likely on the Thursday from the next week it would be ready. The called me on Monday, to say that was ready! I definitely recommend their services. On my recent Mt. Kilimanjaro Clean Water Climb my Canon 5D Mark III, on a monopod and with the flash attached, rolled off the bush it was propped up in and the flash popped off the camera and pulled the shoe out of normal spot on the top of the camera. I took it in to Professional Camera Repair and Yassir was able to fix it on the spot - the screws were not stripped and he literally had me back in business in less than a minute!!
