I've lived in the conroe area for more than 30 years and decided to give this pawn shop a try. I parked my car outside this pawn shop for about 15 minutes or so making a few phone calls and browsing the internet to check on live silver prices, as silver prices by the Oz fluctuate throughout the day, I was needing to get an exact bid price at the moment before I went into the store to sell my coins. It's very important to look up live precious metal prices and have the bid price on hand for when you go to sell to a buyer you wont get ripped off.
The bid price is the price at which you and the buyer can haggle at.
Now here is my complaint and concerns in order.
1. When I was parked outside the pawn shop doing my research for about 15 minutes, the owner of the shop had came outside and looked very suspicious of me. This man was a white old country man and had a firearm on his hip. (Open carry). Now that being said, I don't have anything against owning and carrying a firearm as I also own firearms and conceal carry. Now this is just my opinion but anyone who open carrys a firearm is just asking for trouble because it will make some people uncomfortable that arn't used to handling or being around firearms. It is much better to conceal carry because you are not causing so much attention to yourself and your not opening yourself up to law suites.
2. When I finally had my bid price on hand I decided to walk in the store after being looked at as a suspicious person. As soon as I walked in the store the owner got in a defensive stance and had his hand on his firearm. He didn't greet me or give me a welcomeing visit whatsoever. I wanted to assure him that I was here for buisness. I was very polite and informed him I was looking to sell quite a few 1 Oz American Silver Eagles.
3. The owner gave me a vibe as if I was not welcome in his shop. He talked to me in a very rude and derogatory manner. When I informed him of my buisness there he said in disgusting tone of voice "How much do you want for them!". I had my cell phone in my hand, as I had the live bidding price on my web browser to show the owner. While i was pulling up the live bid price this old man said "Son you need to put your phone down and tell me how much you want for them!". I politely said Sir im pulling up the live silver price for you and his reply was again, "Tell me how much you want for them!! Ive been doin this for 30 years!!". So as i heard that I got on my cellphone calculator and gave the man what he was asking for MY SELLING PRICE (Bid price).
4. After giving the owner the legitimate bid price per coin he insisted on talking to me in a derogatory manner so much that i had no choice but to take offense. I had become heated and infuriated for being talked to in such a manner. Im a grown man with a wife and children and this old white country man (owner) wants to call me son and treat me like trash. It was the tone of his voice and his quick responses to me as if he was lashing out at me because im a hispanic male.
5. Now, I love listening to country music and i've grew up in conroe all my life. My uncle is redneck so I don't have anything against color or creed. My family has served in the military so I have the upmost respect for everyone. I treat everyone the way I would want to be treated. That being said, after finally having enough of this old mans attitude and disgustiung conversation with me I decided to just walk out. I told the owner before I walked out that he was very rude and needs to have more tact in the way he handles customers as I was there to do buisness.
6. As I was walking out of the door the owner said to me well now wait a minute and I replied no sir you are extremely rude and ill take my buisness else where. As i was leaving the owner started whisteling a tune as if he had no worries and didn't care.
I will never step foot at B&W pawn shop again and I would also advise people of color to be mindful of what type of a shop owner you will be dealing with. It makes me very upset that the owner of this shop treats people of color with such disrespect. It's disgusting.
I want to say to the owner of B&W pawn shop, If your reading this right now, its 2018, you need to have more respect and treat people with kindness. There are men of all races that have given there life for this country. Black, Hispanic, Asian, White. We all bleed the same blood. read more
