The dumplings were stuffed with flavor and the chili oil drizzle made these the perfect mouthful. After much reflection, I still feel like they did deserve a 1 star. Stood at the door, the female staff in the back saw me but did not make any gestures or acknowledge me. Which is fine I didn't want to look too much into it. A male staff finally seated us and I felt like they sat us down at a small table for 5 but okay fine. Staff is either in the back or by the front where they are on their phone or whatnots because I had to keep asking for things. You would think that things should be provided without having to constantly requested. Usually you see young kids, wouldn't you as an establishment ask if a high chair is needed? Didn't give utensils so asked for utensils and gave us forks. Did not provide soup spoon for the pho. So I had to ask for chopsticks. Totally ignored the fact that I had a 2 year old with me and only brought out water for 4 people. As a mom, and someone who used to work in customer service the little details is what I appreciate the most. Its frustrating when there is a long pause in between each time to get an item because I have to flag a staff down. Ordered: *Pho - did not offer bean sprouts or veggies. Did not offer hoisin sauce or Sriracha. Meat is super tender. Broth isn't bad in flavor. Asked for no green onions and cilantros since it was going to be for the kiddos and it came w veggies. No soup spoon, so I had to ask for one. *Calamari- super thin and oily. Very soft and not crispy at all. *Egg rolls- barely any lettuce. I've never ordered a side of egg rolls and finished the lettuce before I even finished the egg rolls. This has never happened to me before. *Spicy wonton- wasn't hot. More like warm. Not very spicy. But flavor was there. Was it the best spicy wontons I have had. The answer is no. *Lomo Saltado - it was okay, and trust me when I say I have had many lomo saltados in my time. I visited Omeli Kitchen, a Vietnamese-Peruvian fusion restaurant, during a trip to Fullerton and was expecting to enjoy some good Vietnamese food, but the experience was disappointing from start to finish. When we arrived, we requested to sit in a certain area, as we were expecting more friends to join us. However, the waiter refused, citing limited servers, and sat us just two steps away from where we originally requested. To make matters worse, throughout the meal, we saw several other parties seated in that very area we had asked for, despite me asking multiple times why we couldn't sit there. It felt incredibly frustrating and unfair. As for the food, it was underwhelming and overpriced. My husband ordered vermicelli, which usually comes with pork, shrimp, and an egg roll at other Vietnamese spots. Here, it only came with pork, and we had to pay extra to add shrimp and even more if we wanted an egg roll. He opted to add just shrimp, but the portion still felt lacking. I ordered a combination pho and added oxtail on the side. When the bowl arrived, I was immediately confused by how small it was. After sipping just a few spoonfuls, I ran out of broth and had to pay extra just to get more! They advertise "unlimited noodles" for the pho, but it feels like a gimmick because the bowl is so tiny that by the time you get more noodles, you still need to pay extra for more broth (see picture for size reference). To make matters worse, the pho only had about six tiny slices of meat, which is nowhere near the typical portions I'm used to. Also, the combo advertises several types of meat and I'm sure they didn't add the tendon. I ended up paying almost $30 for a tiny bowl of pho, while my husband's vermicelli was nearly $20! In the end, we paid $50 for two mediocre plates of food that were nowhere near the quality or portion size you'd expect at a regular Vietnamese restaurant. I am so upset, I feel absolutely ROBBED! I rarely leave one-star reviews, but this place deserves it. The ambiance may be cute, but that's not enough to justify the overpriced, lackluster food and poor customer service. Omeli Kitchen is a hidden gem, in an outdated plaza, in Fullerton. The restaurant recently opened but words must had spread quickly as the place was packed on early Saturday by noon. We were cheerfully greeted by the hostess and two personnel in training. The decor is simple with shelves, draped with plants, partitioning the kitchen and the cashier. The menu is simple but selection offered some unique house specialties. We ordered: 1- The garlic noodles with grilled salmon. It's okay but I like the added touch of julienne mushrooms and asparagus. 2 - The pho, refill on noodles are UNLIMITED, so I had to test myself. I was a lil nervous about trying out this restaurant since there was a closed down 99 cent store next door that was tagged with graffiti and blocked off with wood planks, and police circling the plaza lol But after going inside the restaurant, it was a completely different vibe! We ordered the calamari, shaken beef fried rice with sunny side egg added on top and then also the disassembled garlic prawn + garlic pork bun nit thuong with rice. EVERYTHING WAS SO GOOD AND FLAVORFUL! Even the calamari came with the stir fried jalepeno, green onions, and sliced shallots. Other places bring out the calamari plain with no veggies. Subtle additions like that brings out the flavor a lot! I'm also surprised how quick our food came out even though it was so busy. I recommend trying the coconut coffee too. It was not super sweet (thank goodness) but definitely a good, interesting flavor. Overall I'm giving 5 stars because the food came out in a timely manner, food tasted so good, service was polite & attentive, and the portions are very generous for the price. She was fantastic, helpful and very funny. We arrived around 4:30 before the dinner rush and got seated right away, though it started to fill quickly. The food arrived promptly, and the portions are reasonably sized for the prices. My favorites are the lomo saltado and their Vietnamese taro coffee. What a great little find. This is a small little restaurant with lots of parking in an old school shopping center. This place is has amazing food. I had the spicy dumplings and the Lomo Saltado. It was spectacular. The place is small so get there early. The service was good. They could be a little more attentive but they were busy. They did stay on top of things. You will find the food tasting very homemade and comforting because he uses his mom's recipe. Unlike most new restaurants that try too hard and over power the dish with strong seasonings and sauce, Omeli Kitchen food is clean tasting and delicious. I LOVE their macaroni beef pasta which is a must order. Their garlic noodles with prawns are also flavorful and tasty. The chili wonton dish is so comforting to enjoy and the spring rolls are epic! Expect to take forever before taking your order cause these 25 and under kiddos have no experience in waiting tables- they won't remember water, ice or no ice or hot water. The staff really needs to have some sort of system cause I feel bad just looking at their panic and it's not even like chaotically busy. The garlic noodle dish is just sad. I mean it's like a single serving for 1 person and doesn't even have a garlicky taste to it. The rest of the dishes like shaken beef and spicy wonton are average at best. Which is not bad obviously but definitely not like "oooo this is good" Like shaken beef I think at at SUP is your basic fix and spicy wonton is like Long Noodles fix. A dear friend and I (both lovers of Thai cuisine) decided to see for ourselves what an "Asian Fusion" lunch might be like. A brief car ride from Brea, this place was tucked away in a spacious mini-mall, so parking was easy to come by. The place was nearly packed wall-to-wall, and the maitre'd directed us to one of the only two tables available. While my friend chose the pho noodles, I decided on the Lomo Saltado over their Shaken Beef Garlic Noodles--the menu indicated both dishes featured filet mignon for protein, but the former had rice (neat), while the latter had noodles (messy). My order arrived first and, out of politeness, I waited for my friend's dish to arrive (~5 minutes later) so that we could indeed have our lunch together. I've had filet mignon off and on for years (thank you, Omaha Steaks!), and I swear the protein in Lomo Saltado felt more like beef tri-tip than filet mignon, that is, chewy rather than melt-in-your-mouth edible goodness. The white rice was disappointingly "mushy," but I suppose that's partly my fault for using Basmati rice exclusively in my home-cooked meals. The fries mixed in with the veggie bed were a nice and flavorful touch. In all, not a bad dining experience, especially at that price. Definitely worth sampling again! read more

The green sauce they provided was just OK (compared to SUP noodle or other viet/Peruvian places), it needed a slightly bigger kick and blended more for less graininess. The oxtail fried rice was delicious and had a lot of oxtail meat, but I do need to say it's missing some texture. We came here after work for a casual dinner for a co-worker's birthday. Was looking forward to it based on the high reviews. Parking: It's located in a large plaza so there's plenty of outdoor parking. Ambiance/Decor: The place is tucked into a corner in the plaza, and it's not a large place. It's got nice decor and a good ambiance inside. Great for a date night or small group meal with conversation. Food: Two of my co-workers opted for pho because they haven't had it in awhile. I live near a lot of pho so I wanted something else. So two of my co-workers had chicken pho and filet mignon pho, and our vegetarian co-worker opted for a tofu vermicelli dish. I went for the ribeye garlic noodles. All my co-workers liked their food. The pho is unlimited noodles, but neither of my co-workers opted for a second round because they were satisfied. I, however, did not enjoy my dish at all. The garlic noodles weren't as flavorful as other places I've tried, but that was the least of the problems. My noodles were definitely not a fresh batch. I really should've asked for a redo because my noodles were dry and hard in SO MANY places, like they've been sitting there being overcooked/overheated. It wasn't pleasant to eat. The ribeye steak looked medium rare as I had ordered, but that's the end of the positives there. It wasn't tasty (thankfully it comes with an aioli like sauce on the side), but the worst part was that it was really tough meat. So I was chewing tough meat amidst my bites of hard, dry noodles. For $25+, I no doubt could've had a better steak at home. Toss in some basic pasta at home and it would've been a much better meal than what I had this time around here. The place is uniquely decorated with flowery hanging lanterns and wine racks on the walls which creates a kind of tropical meets Urban vibe. Food is incredible. Although I did not try everything on the menu, I did devour the Nui Xao Bo dish that had tender beef mixed with a delicious pasta. The spicy wonton and fried calamari were both packed with flavor. Omeli Kitchen is a hidden gem tucked away in the far corner of College Plaza on State College and E Chapman Avenue in Fullerton. It fuses the best of two food worlds - Vietnamese & Peruvian cuisine! On the inside, there are about a dozen, large tables spread out amongst a wide dining area. With the red, orange, and verdant foliage draped overhead as well as across the room, it is as if you're lounging within an enchanted forest in the midst of autumn. There's an elegant, modern, chic feel about the place. Food: For a starter, I shared an Omeli's Spicy Wontons ($11.95). About 7 pieces of ground pork and shrimp wontons bathe in a "Goldilocks" spicy sauce (a just right balance of heat from the chili oil and flakes, bite from the garlic and fried shallots, tartness from the rice vinegar, and so on). What I also like was that the sauce was not overly oily. For my main, I got their Shaken Beef with Garlic N oodles ($17.45). The marinated, juicy cubes of rib eye worked beautifully with the sweetness from the grilled shallots, green onions, and peppers. To the shaken beef, you add on the garlicky bite of the noodles along with the bright, tangy kick of the Peruvian Aji Verde sauce (cilantro, chilies, garlic, lime juice, etc.). This first time visit left such an impression that I've already arranged another visit with some friends very soon.
