While visiting Omaha for work, we decided to eat dinner here (wait for it...) based on their reviews. It's such a fun restaurant. You walk in on the first floor and it seems like its dead inside. Then you go upstairs to the dining room and BOOM - so cute! A nice size dining room and the coolest second floor outdoor patio. The ambiance is absolutely fantastic. It would be perfect for anything from a regular night out to a romantic dinner to a large party. I am always a sucker for a great Bernaise sauce and Prime did not disappoint! My filet was perfectly cooked, but the Bernaise was a fantastic addition. All sides are family sides and no joke, the baked potato is large enough for five people! When ordering a potato of this size, of course you have to add the cheese and bacon! It's worth it! The owner was onsite and moved about the restaurant making sure everyone was doing well and making sure drinks were full. We had a few bottles of Champagne and they were all delicious. I wish I had taken some photos because the review alone does not do it justice! If you are in the area, it's a must visit. I thought this place was pretty good until I tried a different Omaha steakhouse (mahogany) the next night. The vibe is neat here with the brick arches outside and being in old market is kind of nice but almost makes it seem kitchy to me for some reason. The flavors didn't even compare once I had the other place the next night. The quality of steak was good but I'd say it's the seasoning that made a huge difference. We got the blue cheese potatoes as a side and they were fine. Asparagus was good. They also bring around a cart showing the cuts of meat but they're raw and wrapped in Saran Wrap and idk, it didn't get my taste buds rearing. Husband LOVED the lobster. A five-star fine dining establishment that has proved its mettle on several visits, I'm so pleased to report the quality of service and food is just as terrific in the midst of this pandemic. First, the friendliness of the staff has certainly not changed. Our meal was prepared within twenty minutes of placing the order. I feared the transition from white tablecloth to curbside might affect the quality of our meal but was greatly pleased that our filet mignon and lamb were just as good as I remembered from previous visits...which is to say outstanding. The steak was excellent and the garlic creamed spinach was the best I've had. The atmosphere was unique and inviting, it definitely showed how proud they are of their town. Very nice restaurant! The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. One of my dinner companions spilled a partial glass of wine and they quickly replaced it at no charge. The sides were enormous and definitely large enough to share. Other members of my party reported that their steaks were wonderful (tomahawk, filet, NY strip). Myself and one other got the porterhouse and we were both slightly disappointed in the steak. It was not bad per se, but not as thick or as tender as we have had in other steakhouses of similar quality. This is the only reason I did not give them 5 stars. Definitely try their bacon sprouts if you go. I don't even like Brussel sprouts, but these things were fabulous!! The garlic creamed spinach was delicious. Our service from Sarah was beyond wonderful as she did a great job although serving two large groups at the same time. I ordered the KC Bone In Strip steak. All the food arrived in a timely manner but my steak was cold, and I mean cold. As Sarah apologized and said she would speak to the owner and get me a new steak, I was satisfied. When she returned however, she brought back the original steak, with a piece or two I had cut out, on a new plate with new garnish. I could tell it had been heated in the oven or warmer and I was disgusted. Simply beyond reproach for a restaurant to act in this manner when you are passing $50 for a steak. My husband took me here for date night. We walked in and the atmosphere is very nice. However, the dining space is up 2 flights of stairs. Stairs + Bad Knees = not such a great experience. I am not if the space downstairs is dining space as well or just bar space and whether or not that can be requested. Anyway, we did get a nice seat upstairs overlooking the passageway. This is probably not the best place for average Joes looking for a quick steak dinner. This is where you take somebody to have long chats/discussions with...say a business dinner or a date. With that being said, the several times I've been here was work-related. The timing of when food comes out is perfect and I can't complain about service at all. Sure, it's a bit pricey but what place in the Old Market isn't (the ice cream place doesn't count!)? They do a nice presentation of the menu. The servers have a silver platter with the different cuts of meat, potato, broccoli, mushrooms and other sides for you to choose from. Driving across the country is a rare opportunity - so eating while you drive through entire states at a time is a sacred time. On my way from Denver to Chicago, I had an idea to stop in Omaha to try some of their much talked about. Omaha Prime a decent place to stop. Situated on a trendy cobble stone lined plaza of restaurants and stores, an effort of city revitalization, you would think that the place would be pretentious. It wasn't at all. When you get inside, you are thrown aback by the dated furnishings and odd lighting that seemed intentionally sparse but too bright for any good effect. Though A friendly and well versed wait staff is there to its rescue to review you options of beef and sides. I settled in on a bone in rib eye (a favorite cut of mine prepared best by Dad, Morton's second) and two sides: broccoli and the Maytag blue cheese potatoes. Their medium rare was rare so I had to send it back. Wait staff had no problems with that. The beef was tender with good searing on the outside. The broccoli was well steamed, but the Maytag blue cheese potatoes could be better. It seemed more like some cooked potatoes briefly sauteed in some Maytag blue cheese and cream. Would have preferred an au gratin or even a mashed Maytag blue cheese potatoes. Eh. I just expected more from Omaha Prime. Best highlight: Service was pretty solid. Low point: Wasn't impressed, especially with what they were charging. read more

One of the best steaks I have had in recent memory. The restaurant is in what appears to be an old industrial building in the older part of downtown Omaha. The tables are upstairs and they have both indoor and outdoor seating. It's modeled after the classic old school steak houses in New York and they do a good job recreating it. Could it use a little update? Sure. But that not important. It's a-la-cart, which is what I have found to be typical of the nicer steak houses. They come to the table with you menus as well as a cart showing you additional steaks and other selections not on the menu. All the steaks were local and they had some aged options. None of them are small! I had an off menu ribeye, medium. I started with a salad and had a side of a baked sweet potato. The sweet potato had a small bowl of some kind of apple reduction that was sweet, garlicky and savory. It was awesome and complimented the sweet potato. The salad had a honey mustard vinaigrette dressing over mixed green, tomatoes goat cheese and leeks. The ribeye was cooked to perfection and seasoned perfectly to the point it needed nothing. It was like cutting butter it was so tender. If you are in Omaha, give this place a shot. It's a little pricy, but that comes with nice food. The room: If you look at the first floor, you're missing it. The entire second floor is the restaurant, including a patio section, out in the Galleries. Nice, quiet, 100% solid service (if you look up the word "obsequious", my waiter Neil would have his picture next to the definition.) The staff brings out a tray of the entrees for you to feast your eyes on - the special was a bone-in Rib Eye. I ordered the fillet, medium rare. A nice treat is that you can order half-orders of vegetables, so I went for the mushrooms and asparagus. I also ordered a baked potato, which was big enough for 2. Really. I didn't think potato's came as big as Obama's ego, but this one was huge. The steak came out fine, was cooked properly, and tasted pretty good. So, why 3 stars? Simple: The steak was unseasoned. I had a better steak (same cut, but more tender at a better price, and lightly seasoned) at the Upstream Brewery (see that review). The wine list was okay. Pricey, but okay. For the restaurant, it was very nicely done up. The service (since I was a solo on this one, I watched other diners) and noted consistent good service - period. When you ask someone from Nebraska where're get a good steak they can't seem to tell you the right place to go, they tell you they like their steak cooked well-done. Lena and I Came in here to share a steak. The atmosphere is classic steak house, quite expensive, but satisfying. We shared a T-bone, cooked medium rare which came out closer to being medium. Four people we spent 285$ before tip and for that amount you can go to Costco and buy four of the same steaks , charcoal, and the grill and probably still have change left. One of the worst experience I've had! Took a while to be greeted, once we were greeted and sat. Waited 15-20 minutes to have waitress come and greet. Had to waive her down and her attitude and energy was OFF! After waiting so long for drinks, we decided to order. I got the lamb chops, brussel sprouts and we also got stuffed shrimp. After a terrible meal last night at Sullivan's I had the best meal you could ask for tonight at Omaha Prime. Had the same 8 oz filet cooked to perfection with slight char on the outside and truely medium rare inside. The house greens salad was amazing and fresh and chilled. We had creamed spinach with Brussels sprouts both amazing. Service impeccable the presentation of all the different cuts of meats and aging was great. Wish I could remember our waiters name but has been there 30 years. Ended the night with their bread pudding which I would put right at the best I have had next to a chocolate bread pudding from the East Coast.
