Transcendental is what came to mind as my wife and I enjoyed this amazing dinner. We split the Omaha Prime salad, then a NY strip with sautéed mushrooms. Everything cooked perfectly. The red zin fit the meal splendidly. Even Terry, our server, was attentive just the right amount. We want to eat here again... read more

Omaha Prime - New York strip steak with Sautéed mushrooms - Steakhouses Near Me - Omaha, Nebraska

Great food and the wait staff is extremely attentive. The food was served in adequate time for a large group (we were a group of 12).

I was in town for business and folks recommended Omaha Prime. Overall, I was disappointed. Steak was good, sides were not good. Lobster bisque was meh. The butter, flavorless. I expected more. Service was fine and the ambiance was great. I think I'd skip here next time and try another steakhouse. read more

I thought this place was pretty good until I tried a different Omaha steakhouse (mahogany) the next night. The vibe is neat here with the brick arches outside and being in old market is kind of nice but almost makes it seem kitchy to me for some reason. The flavors didn't even compare once I had the other place the next night. The quality of steak was good but I'd say it's the seasoning that made a huge difference. We got the blue cheese potatoes as a side and they were fine. Asparagus was good. They also bring around a cart showing the cuts of meat but they're raw and wrapped in Saran Wrap and idk, it didn't get my taste buds rearing. Husband LOVED the lobster. Server was sweet, attentive, and very nice and helpful. read more

A five-star fine dining establishment that has proved its mettle on several visits, I'm so pleased to report the quality of service and food is just as terrific in the midst of this pandemic. First, the friendliness of the staff has certainly not changed. Our meal was prepared within twenty minutes of placing the order. I feared the transition from white tablecloth to curbside might affect the quality of our meal but was greatly pleased that our filet mignon and lamb were just as good as I remembered from previous visits...which is to say outstanding. I pray that everyone who works there survives these tragic times. read more

So amazing! We loved our food and experience here last night. Everything was perfect. I had the porterhouse and French onion soup (yum). My girlfriend had a filet and truffle infused mashed potatoes. The bourbon selection is fantastic also. You'll love this place. We'll definitely be back. read more

Once again, OP does not disappoint. Our second visit, hubby and I had the filet mignon; son had NY strip. We added asparagus and the whipped potatoes. Closed the evening with bread pudding and coffee. This is our Go-to in Omaha. We love that we have found a place to visit when we are in town visiting our son. Enjoy the calamari-is delish!! My second review of 5 stars! If you want an amazing steak in Omaha the land of beef, go to Omaha Prime. It will be a meal you will think about for days. Splurge and get the Tomahawk steak. All of our sides were terrific and the drinks were perfection. This place is old school cool. When in Rome do as the Romans do but when in Omaha go to Omaha Prime, and ask for John he's the best! read more

Good food but I expected better for the price. The steaks were good but I've had better at other steakhouses. The sides were likewise middle of the road. A solid meal - but plan on spending $75 or more read more

The steak was excellent and the garlic creamed spinach was the best I've had. The atmosphere was unique and inviting, it definitely showed how proud they are of their town. My favorite part though was the staff. I think every single employee stopped by the table to see if we needed anything/make sure we were having a good time. It wasn't packed but there were definitely enough tables that they could've easily not made the time. I'm so appreciate of the quality and service and you will be too. read more

Very nice restaurant! The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. One of my dinner companions spilled a partial glass of wine and they quickly replaced it at no charge. The sides were enormous and definitely large enough to share. Other members of my party reported that their steaks were wonderful (tomahawk, filet, NY strip). Myself and one other got the porterhouse and we were both slightly disappointed in the steak. It was not bad per se, but not as thick or as tender as we have had in other steakhouses of similar quality. This is the only reason I did not give them 5 stars. Definitely try their bacon sprouts if you go. I don't even like Brussel sprouts, but these things were fabulous!! The garlic creamed spinach was delicious. The lobster bisque was great, but the puff pastry that came with it was out of this world. I was in a group of 10 and they handled our party easily and well. Definitely a good experience. read more

The service was horrible and the steak was extremely dry. When I asked to speak with the manager, his response was it looks good to me. at those prices I really expected better service and food. The waitresses Kpet walking past our table asked if we weren't there; as they served other tables. I felt like I was at the lunch counter in the 1960s, being ignored due to the color of my skin. read more

I had an amazing filet and lobster Mac and cheese! The service was great and I absolutely loved the covered terrace seating! I was in town on business and had a bad experience with the hosts attitude at J Gilbert's. Several locals recommended Omaha Prime with Spencer's as a backup. I'm so glad I tried Omaha Prime! read more

After many during recommendations, we took a party of 11 to Omaha Prime last night. Our service from Sarah was beyond wonderful as she did a great job although serving two large groups at the same time. I ordered the KC Bone In Strip steak. All the food arrived in a timely manner but my steak was cold, and I mean cold. As Sarah apologized and said she would speak to the owner and get me a new steak, I was satisfied. When she returned however, she brought back the original steak, with a piece or two I had cut out, on a new plate with new garnish. I could tell it had been heated in the oven or warmer and I was disgusted. Simply beyond reproach for a restaurant to act in this manner when you are passing $50 for a steak. I will never eat there again. read more

Love Omaha Prime! We had the filet and the garlic mashed potatoes with truffle oil. Honestly, probably top 3 in the world that we have ever had! Absolutely amazing! The filet was tender and cooked to perfection! The proprietor, Mo, came by and checked on us and was very personal and charming. We will be back whenever we are in Omaha. This is a must if you love steak! read more

Food and atmosphere were great. The steaks were so tender and delicious. Service was great and our server had a great rapport with his customers. He went over and above with a large party to serve. read more

My husband took me here for date night. We walked in and the atmosphere is very nice. However, the dining space is up 2 flights of stairs. Stairs + Bad Knees = not such a great experience. I am not if the space downstairs is dining space as well or just bar space and whether or not that can be requested. Anyway, we did get a nice seat upstairs overlooking the passageway. The server was very personable. We ordered steaks and asparagus and a salad to share. All were very good. The asparagus was grilled to perfection. read more

Omaha is Warren Buffet town. And Buffet likes older Italian steakhouses that are quaint and homey and a bit cheaper. Good for him. Omaha Prime is a more typical old school steakhouse. It isn't cheap, but the steaks are amazing. In two trips I had the filet and the ribeye, and I did not look back. The service was great without being obtrusive. Plus, there was no wait even in the middle of the BH Shareholders' Meeting. Thank you for that. This is probably not the best place for average Joes looking for a quick steak dinner. This is where you take somebody to have long chats/discussions with...say a business dinner or a date. With that being said, the several times I've been here was work-related. The timing of when food comes out is perfect and I can't complain about service at all. Sure, it's a bit pricey but what place in the Old Market isn't (the ice cream place doesn't count!)? They do a nice presentation of the menu. The servers have a silver platter with the different cuts of meat, potato, broccoli, mushrooms and other sides for you to choose from. I always get either a rib eye or filet mignon cooked medium-medium rare. Tender, juicy and well-seasoned. You can't go wrong with steaks in Omaha! read more

A great place. Full of life, fun, calming, and sports entertainment! It's a place in which you can go with family and friends or even business related issues and have a great time. A wonderful selection of food, desserts, and of course beverages! You can throw partys, have weddings, and rent out spaces for your more personal needs. It's a nice place and definitely a good place to meet people. All the workers work very very hard and are all each very funny and original. Overall this place is a great place to just dine out even if you just wanna go, well, just to go out! It's a very filling and scrumptious place. It does have a fine price tag, but wowza is the food great! read more

our party of 6 spent almost $1000 and although the serving sizes were large and temp was right, I've had much more flavorful steaks at restaurants that I might have spent $200+ for 6. the best part of the meal was the sides and to me thats a major problem. also it took us 3 hours to get complete this meal, probably twice as long as it should have. last year during CWS, I patroned another local steak house that would have been half the cost and now wished i had gone back. this was a very disappointing experience at a high reputation establishment. read more

My boyfriend is new to town and I wanted to take him to OP Saturday 4/1. We didn't have a reservation, but the young ladies at the host stand made room for us. There was no bartender that night but the servers did a great job at managing drinks as well as their regular tasks. We had drinks, calamari, and surf and turf. Another wonderful meal at a fantastic restaurant. Next time we plan to reserve a passageway table. Thanks so much! read more

Driving across the country is a rare opportunity - so eating while you drive through entire states at a time is a sacred time. On my way from Denver to Chicago, I had an idea to stop in Omaha to try some of their much talked about. Omaha Prime a decent place to stop. Situated on a trendy cobble stone lined plaza of restaurants and stores, an effort of city revitalization, you would think that the place would be pretentious. It wasn't at all. When you get inside, you are thrown aback by the dated furnishings and odd lighting that seemed intentionally sparse but too bright for any good effect. Though A friendly and well versed wait staff is there to its rescue to review you options of beef and sides. I settled in on a bone in rib eye (a favorite cut of mine prepared best by Dad, Morton's second) and two sides: broccoli and the Maytag blue cheese potatoes. Their medium rare was rare so I had to send it back. Wait staff had no problems with that. The beef was tender with good searing on the outside. The broccoli was well steamed, but the Maytag blue cheese potatoes could be better. It seemed more like some cooked potatoes briefly sauteed in some Maytag blue cheese and cream. Would have preferred an au gratin or even a mashed Maytag blue cheese potatoes. Eh. I just expected more from Omaha Prime. Best highlight: Service was pretty solid. Low point: Wasn't impressed, especially with what they were charging. read more

Have no doubt. Dinner at Omaha Prime was fantastic. Went with the 11 oz Filet/medium. It was wonderful. Service, fantastic. Wine suggestions, wonderful. Only wish they has chocolate cake, my wife's favorite. Seating on the balcony, wonderful. Have to give the night, food, service a 5 star review! Naysayers, be gone! read more

The room: If you look at the first floor, you're missing it. The entire second floor is the restaurant, including a patio section, out in the Galleries. Nice, quiet, 100% solid service (if you look up the word "obsequious", my waiter Neil would have his picture next to the definition.) The staff brings out a tray of the entrees for you to feast your eyes on - the special was a bone-in Rib Eye. I ordered the fillet, medium rare. A nice treat is that you can order half-orders of vegetables, so I went for the mushrooms and asparagus. I also ordered a baked potato, which was big enough for 2. Really. I didn't think potato's came as big as Obama's ego, but this one was huge. The steak came out fine, was cooked properly, and tasted pretty good. So, why 3 stars? Simple: The steak was unseasoned. I had a better steak (same cut, but more tender at a better price, and lightly seasoned) at the Upstream Brewery (see that review). The wine list was okay. Pricey, but okay. For the restaurant, it was very nicely done up. The service (since I was a solo on this one, I watched other diners) and noted consistent good service - period. If I were the Restaurant Makeover Guru, I'd suggest dropping the prices just a bit. I left the door with a $120 dollar tab for dinner, wine, and no desert. For one person. read more

I saw a few low star reviews for this restaurant, and after visiting I cant imagine why anyone would give it less than 5 stars. The fillet that I ordered was perfectly cooked and one of the best that I've ever had. The waitstaff was top notch, and the restaurant itself was inviting and comfortable. No complaints. read more

This is one of the better steakhouses I've been to. When you ask someone from Nebraska where're get a good steak they can't seem to tell you the right place to go, they tell you they like their steak cooked well-done. Lena and I Came in here to share a steak. The atmosphere is classic steak house, quite expensive, but satisfying. We shared a T-bone, cooked medium rare which came out closer to being medium. It was very tasty. Enjoyed the 10 Dollars blue cheese potatoes to go with it. Each had a drink, walking out the door was 77 bucks plus tip. Decent. read more

Decent food and good service. Was not the best steak I ever had, certainly not the worst... I will say it is overpriced...but service is exceptional... read more

One of the best steaks I have had in recent memory. The restaurant is in what appears to be an old industrial building in the older part of downtown Omaha. The tables are upstairs and they have both indoor and outdoor seating. It's modeled after the classic old school steak houses in New York and they do a good job recreating it. Could it use a little update? Sure. But that not important. It's a-la-cart, which is what I have found to be typical of the nicer steak houses. They come to the table with you menus as well as a cart showing you additional steaks and other selections not on the menu. All the steaks were local and they had some aged options. None of them are small! I had an off menu ribeye, medium. I started with a salad and had a side of a baked sweet potato. The sweet potato had a small bowl of some kind of apple reduction that was sweet, garlicky and savory. It was awesome and complimented the sweet potato. The salad had a honey mustard vinaigrette dressing over mixed green, tomatoes goat cheese and leeks. The ribeye was cooked to perfection and seasoned perfectly to the point it needed nothing. It was like cutting butter it was so tender. If you are in Omaha, give this place a shot. It's a little pricy, but that comes with nice food. Apparently they are very popular for their abundance of drink options and wines, however I did not partake this time. Go enjoy a heavenly meal here. read more

Great spot for date night! Food and wine were delicious. Steak was great and well cooked. But the best part was the hashbrowns. They were literally the best I've ever had, perfectly cooked. The key lime pie was also amazing!!! Will definitely go back. Staff was wonderful as well. read more

My boyfriend and I came here for our 3rd anniversary. We had the ahi, filet mignon, French onion soup, and many other dishes (we eat a lot). This establishment is the best in Omaha. We also returned for our graduation dinner. Our parents loved it. Most surprising was that the fish was so fresh! There is zero excuse for people to claim "we're in Omaha we can't get fresh fish", as I can name 4 restaurants in Omaha with fresh fish weekly. Prime, of course, is the priciest of them. It is entirely worth the money. Love it. Wish I could eat there every week!! read more

The hostess condescendingly asked if we would like to see a menu for the prices before she would seat us. Literally before she would seat us. This was just us wandering around looking for a nice restaurant which we thought we had found the way we were treated was absolutely terrible. Terrible value for what you get. First off, staff isn't very engaging with your orders and the cocktails are just horribly mixed and the pour is pitiful. Steaks here are overpriced and honestly not that great for how much you're paying. Server didn't come by to ask how everything was even once until we got the bill. Four people we spent 285$ before tip and for that amount you can go to Costco and buy four of the same steaks , charcoal, and the grill and probably still have change left. If you're going to get a steak don't go here. read more

After a terrible meal last night at Sullivan's I had the best meal you could ask for tonight at Omaha Prime. Had the same 8 oz filet cooked to perfection with slight char on the outside and truely medium rare inside. The house greens salad was amazing and fresh and chilled. We had creamed spinach with Brussels sprouts both amazing. Service impeccable the presentation of all the different cuts of meats and aging was great. Wish I could remember our waiters name but has been there 30 years. Ended the night with their bread pudding which I would put right at the best I have had next to a chocolate bread pudding from the East Coast. How they only have a 3 1/2 stars blows my mind hands down the best worth every bit of 5 stars. Ask to be seated over looking the court yard best ambience in Omaha. read more
