My wife and recently visited Olive Burger, after I found the establishment on Yelp, in the hope of satisfying a craving for a good cheeseburger that I'd been having. Olive Burger uses the walk-up order format and delivers food via a walk-up counter, once the customer's vibrating number and place holder thingy goes off. Burgers are served cut in half, unless ordered otherwise. Also, the burgers come without mustard, mayo, or ketchup. You'll be putting that on by yourself. It wasn't a problem and surprisingly the burgers held together while we slathered mayo all over ours. My wife had the avocado cheeseburger, and I had to try the cheeseburger that bears the business name, the Olive (Cheese)burger. The burgers were prepared to a medium doneness (warm pink center), which is how I think a burger should be cooked. All of the ingredients were very fresh, making the burgers really tasty and enjoyable! Of note: Despite the owner's comments on Yelp about the burger weight, I think only one of the burgers was actually listed on the menu as being "one half" pound. The majority of the burgers were listed as being 1/3 pound. Also, we did not see curly fries on the menu. So, I dunno about those as an "orderable" item. We also ordered the fried zucchini, fried Jalapeños ("Bottle Caps" some folks call 'em), and a regular size fries. It seemed to us the zucchini are pre-breaded and, to us, had a little too much breading for our tastes. We would also have much rather had zucchini spears over slices, but whatever, right?!?... In any case, we would not order them again. The Jalapeños seemed to us to be battered fresh with a tempura batter and as far as Bottle Caps go, these were tasty. I would order them again for certain! The "crispy dust" or "crusted" fries were a huge disappointment and, in my humble opinion, should be replaced by fresh cut with skin on. I guess if one likes fries made to be crispy by the application of potato flake dust - very VERY similar in texture and taste to those at "In-N-Out" Burger - then, I guess they're okay. But, personally, I believe these fries are the Achilles Heel of Olive Burger. This establishment is very clean and the burgers were very VERY tasty and of an obviously high quality! The soft drinks from the sofa fountain were also fresh tasting, with no "slime" in the ice machine! I would definitely eat at Olive Burger again! Restrooms were cleaned and stocked, which was appreciated. If you decide to give Olive Burger a try, you won't be disappointed. Eat well. Be well. Cheers! read more

We did a take out order yesterday and had to wait behind someone who had a very extensive order, making ours cold. Truly a hidden gem in the heart of Richardson. Came him on a whim with a friend and boy were were greatly satisfied with not only the food, but the customer service. Any restaurant, in my opinion, who has an open-faced kitchen where patrons can see them cook their dishes is one to be trusted! The cooks worked diligently, crafting each sandwich to the likeness of its owner. My friend and I each order a burger and fine-tuned them with ingredients we craved. I order a 1/3 burger with jalapeños, grilled onions, lettuce, tomatoes, bacon and cheese. It was very delicious. We shared an order off family fries and I'm so glad that we did because there was plenty! My sandwich came already cut in half which I could definitely appreciate. I wasn't too much of a fan of their BBQ sauce due to being an avid, loyal fan to Sweet Baby Ray's. Service: place your order at the front and you are given a buzzer while you wait for your food. I was searching for a good halal burger place so came across Olive Burger. After trying this place, I must say they have the best halal burgers in town. The Richardson location was my favorite so I would drive a little further just to get the consistent good quality burger. The restaurant is kind of small however they offer some seating outside. The service is mostly decent. Mainly, the food is excellent: their burgers which used to be made with 1/2 lb of meat were quite filling. Ever since the renovation, the size of the burger has gotten smaller but is still the same price. Since the burgers were large it it was understandable that fries were not included. But now that they made the burgers smaller, fries should be included or they should go back to making the original burger size. So far I've tried the olive burger, jalapeño burger, chicken burger, chicken strips, chicken nuggets and chicken wrap which were all up to the mark. My only suggestion would be to be consistent with the size of the burger as advertised and improve customer service. They did once over charge my husband ($6 bill was charged $33) and blatantly denied it even after showing proof. They never resolved the issue so this definitely left a lasting negative impression hence minus 2 stars. 3 stars only for the thin but still good burgers! read more

I've had Olive Burger bookmarked for a long time as I heard it had the best burgers in Richardson. Maybe during this long time period, my expectations kept getting higher and higher because when I finally tried it - I was left a little underwhelmed. The sweet potato fries were the bomb dot com (does anyone even say this anymore?). They were easily the best part of our meal. The jalapeño ketchup tho...kinda similar to whataburger's spicy ketchup but with more of a kick. I got the mushroom burger and thought "meh." It was definitely a good sized burger. The beef patty was a little overcooked and the flavor didn't really wow me. It came with the usual lettuce, pickles and tomato as well as Swiss cheese and sautéed mushrooms and onions. I either like my buns to be really soft or toasted but Olive Burger's buns seemed like they had been sitting out all day as it didn't taste very fresh and the texture of it seemed a little stale for lack of a better word. I have been coming here for a very long time and the recent updates are interesting. I was worried the food was going to change since they have spread out to new locations and looks like an entirely different place but the food is still excellent. Still the best gyro and tzatziki sauce you can find. Seasoned really well and they load it up with meat. The burgers are amazing here. A lot of flavor but the last time I came the patty was a little thinner than it was before. Philly cheesesteak, nomnom! I haven't ordered the chicken sandwich again to know if it's changed or not but nothing else has so I'm sure it's still incredible. At one point we were coming in frequent enough that we were recognized but then we moved and couldn't stop by anymore. Last time we went was after the massive upgrade and the chain explosion. I received casual and friendly service at 6pm on a rainy day. There were three other customers who had already been served. One customer had just picked up a preorder. I ordered the Olive Cheese Burger, Tater Tots, and a Strawberry Shake. The shake came early. Perfect thickness, but just a bit more strawberry would have made the shake great. Shakes are only available in a medium size that appears to be around 12 ounces. When the Olive Cheeseburger and tater-tots were served, I immediately was impressed with the freshness and the just-right amount of beef and cheese there was on the burger. The buns where too large my opinion, but later I found you can also order the burgers with lettuce wrap (free) or gluten-free (not free). The tots were also not greasy, but were too hot to touch for a few minutes. Also noted, the burger was not greasy. It came with mustard and mayo packs to diy. The burger tasted very salty to me. I think that's from the olives, so I'll try the mushroom or jalapeño version next time. Yes, I'm coming back, namely because i couldn't find other good burger places in this area. I had the biggest craving for a philly cheese steak sandwich and this place popped up on my radar for locations near me in Dallas. So my friends and I came here for lunch to test it out. This place looks like it's been here for a minute, but don't let the outside fool you, because the food here is delicious! All of us got the same thing so I can't actually vouch for the burger, but the philly cheese was fantastic. I liked that they put mushrooms in the meat to give it a very unique flavor and balance. My own complaint was that the bread was a little chewier than normal. I feel like a sandwich should be a little bit more crispy, but nothing that is make or break it. The sandwiches are big so bring your appetite, and the small French fries are big enough to share so don't worry. For thin-patty burgers (that are not quite that thin since it's a 1/2 pounder), this place really hits the spot. The half pounder ground beef receives more attention since it is certified Halal (akin to Kosher, just not Glatt Kosher), you can be rest assured that the burger will come out to be great as it also has subtle spices and the taste of the grill. The buns were a bit cold, but even so, it was fluffy and good tasting - just right for the burger. Other ingredients were all fresh - tomatoes, avocado, sautéed onions, mushrooms. Coupled with melty cheese, it was nirvana in the mouth. The only thing that I thought could be improved is the bacon - it would be nice if it was crispier as the ones I received were limp. But luckily, it didn't mess up the taste of the burger. Choices are plentiful. Need substitutions? No problem, and no extra charge. Seasoned fries were tasty (then again, what seasoned fries aren't?). I'll be returning for sure, whenever I want to get sloppy with a great tasting and messily-good burger.
