I will give 2 reviews (Door Dash & in Restaurant) 9/10/2025 aroun d 7pm We ordered thru DoorDash. Falafel (4 pieces) Fried Kibbe (2 pieces) Lamb Gyro Arabi with the Shrak instead of tortilla When we received our order, it was still fairly warm/hot, still enjoyable. The french fries were soggy and a bit on the cooler side. We told ourselves that we would try it fresh in the restaurant sometimes soon. The lamb arabi was delicious, the shrak was a bit on the soggy side, but they are a bit of a drive from where we live. It did not stop us from enjoying it though. We did order a spicy garlic sauce (which was extra) and it was delicious. The falafel & kibbe were delicious (it does not come with the sauce, so we ordered on the side and paid the $1.25/$1.35, however we did not get one of our sauces). Was a bit disappointed, but I did not deduct from the rating, as that didn't deter from the food itself. The flavor explosion in my mouth from the herbs made this one of the best falafels we have had. We have had falafel before (at other restaurants) and this is by far the best we have had. We did ask for the spicy garlic, but we did not get it. We like a little heat, but it did not stop me from eating it with the regular garlic sauce. We had the lamb arabi and it was crisp and delicious. The french fries were perfectly salted and crispy and I thoroughly enjoyed it. We did not finish and took it home. Our 3 pups also enjoyed the french fries. We ordered the Dubai Chocolate which is made in house and it was good. The chocolate was kind of on the thin side (I like the chocolate a little thicker), but was still yummy. The young man manning the register and taking orders, was very nice and patient. We will definitely be back, probably in the next couple of days. For us it was that good! The menu is no frills. They don't have Arabic Salad or tabouli. I got the beef shawarma because I didn't want garlic sauce. It comes with tahini and pickles. The taste was ok. The meat wasn't old but it didn't taste super fresh. The flavor was good and the crispiness of the wrap. I was hungry so I devoured it. The hummus is a disappointment. I would never order it from here again. The portion size is decent but it just ..... isn't phenomenal. The kibbeh didn't look great. You can tell that it wasn't made the day I ordered it. There were some texture issues on the outside. But the taste of it was good. I enjoyed the kibbeh and would order it again. I waited.... 18 minutes for my food. I was starved. There was one family ahead of me. The wait time ...... makes me rethink coming here. The good thing was the shawarma was not greasy and had good flavor. The kibbeh had good flavor. The dining room was clean. The bathroom.... Was not. There is only one room for the bathroom so there is no separate ladies room and the urinal is right next to the toilet and it just felt weird. I really felt like I shouldn't have been using the bathroom in there. I'm 8 months pregnant so it was something I couldn't avoid .... Review for the food truck off of Coit and Legacy in Plano... This is by far the best shawarma shop in the area if you like a crispy outside and soft inside. The bread is not your typical "Sara's Bakery" pita bread, but it's amazing. The sandwich is rolled so tight that you can quite literally eat this on the go, but I don't recommend it with the garlic sauce. My only gripe - the fries are trash. I'm not sure how to describe them, but they do lack flavor and are not very crispy. You're better off stopping at the McDonalds right next door to the truck. 5 stars for the shawarma though. read more

Tables were sticky, and even as customers came and left, not once did I see a staff member wipe down a table. Some guests were even cleaning up after themselves, which is just not acceptable in a sit-down establishment. That probably explains why the place seemed to focus more on Uber Eats and DoorDash orders than dine-in service. The food? Underwhelming. I came across Abu Omar as a suggestion from a friend . One thing about the Richardson area is that it has a lot of hidden gems ,food wise with an emphasis on diversity and culture. Located right next door to subway and a CBD store off of Arapaho, Abu Omar is great for dine in and carry out meals. My go to here is the Italian with chicken. Robust garlicky flavor with tender chicken and melted cheese. I'll compare it to a quesadilla that's thicker and more flavorful. Come with a side of fries and pickles . Drinks are sold seller and do not come included with the meal. The portion size is enough to satisfy two people . The customer service here has been satisfactory and the restaurant is hallway clean. One of the best in the area worth the trip from north dallas to experience. Better than we expected

To put it simply, this is the gourmet fast food of the halal world, and until another restaurant decided to become a chain, funnily enough a shawarma shop as well, they were the only true halal chain bigger than North Texas that Muslims here had. With that title, all the typical caveats and expectations arrive as it's entourage. Service here is brief and informed, employees know best how to get your order in and your food out. It's not exactly the most friendly or memorable, but even if you're ordering something like a party platter, it's efficient. The food on option here is a consistent quality of acceptable shawarma options with nary a difference in flavor from visit to visit. Imperceptible differences in degree of cook are about as much as you can expect, and the price is relatively affordable for the amount of food you're getting. It's good if you want this kind of food to eat. So with that being said, this is about the equivalent of a McDonalds review. Sure location to location there's differences, but that cold, calculated consistentcy is what helped them spread as far as they have despite all odds. I was so thankful this place was still opened. My friends and I ordered takeout around 1 AM. I ordered the Chicken Shawarma Arabi it was pretty good. The garlic sauce they give on the side is amazing, and dipping the shawarma and fries into it was a great combination. The fries weren't the crispiest, but keep in mind, I did order it for takeout. The sandwich was a little dry and I feel like it could've been better with some more vegetables in it which would've made it fresher and not as dry. I also wish for the price there were some more fries that came in the order. Overall this place was pretty good and it came in clutch being open at 1 AM. The food at Abu Omar's is solid. No frills just a solid shawarma wrap with enough sauce and flavor that will make you want to order it again. We ordered the chicken shawarmas and the chicken shawarma bowls before Iftaar. The wait was long (not correctly estimated) during pick but it's Ramadan and I expect to wait at any establishment during the last hour before sunset. Wow, I have never had a gyro quite like how they do it here. It's more of a large long burrito wrap grilled on a flatiron. It was amazing. I got the white sauce on the side and it was perfect for dipping! Maybe not the most enforced with the masks and all, but food wise, pretty good. I ordered on DoorDash, the chicken Shawarma Aribi style. I have a dietary condition so I asked for no pickles or french fries I'm in kidney failure and cannot eat those because I don't have a gallbladder either.I asked for tomatoes, onions and cucumbers, to be added onto my Shawarma and instead of fries if I could have a side of hummus, I receive some sort of corn salad, which I can't eat corn again because I have no gallbladder . I was really disappointed because I was so excited to finally get to order from here. I don't truly know how the sandwich would taste because I wasn't able to eat it . I left out the fact that it also had cheese on it, and I cannot eat cheese due to a dairy allergy. I did go back and double check that the notes were in the comments on DoorDash and they were and somehow extra cheese was checked, and I did not select extra cheese or any cheese for that matter. Lastly, after specifically not requesting pickles and fries, I still received both a little container of pickles and not an entire order of fries, but there were several fries on the side of the Shawarma. Very odd .Being in kidney failure, you have a very restrictive diet of what you can and cannot eat. Things that have high sodium content cannot be no gallbladder. You cannot have fried foods Because of being a previous cancer patient and I can't have too much sugar or any refined sugar and I have a dairy allergy so I can't have cheese. I spent a lot of money on DoorDash I was disappointed. I did write all of these things in the notes on DoorDash however, I think they were just overlooked maybe because it was busy because everybody I know, and all of my friends are ordered from here so it's absolutely fabulous. This is the second time I tried to order from there the first time the DoorDash driver apparently got lost in my order. Never got me. I love Shawarma so maybe it's a hint from above that I need to go to the store physically which presents another problem because I don't really drive often to do the fact that I pass out frequently and I'm hooked to an IV for four hours a day. Last night I visited Abu Omar Halal in Richardson and while the food was passable, the customer service was horrible. The cashier was rude, uninterested, and clearly didn't want to engage with anyone who didn't speak Arabic. His English was minimal at best, and he seemed completely annoyed when I asked simple questions. It is obvious he only wants to deal with Arabic-speaking customers, and if that's the case, they should make it clear on the door. I've never felt so unwelcome in a restaurant before. The food may be okay, but the toxic attitude from the staff made this a pathetic experience. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone who isn't fluent in Arabic. We went to their grand opening yesterday to try out the shawarma and we were not disappointed! Can't wait to try their full unlimited menu of food.
