    Chicken Shawarma Sandwich
    Shaun W.

The aesthetics of the place is very nice. It's black and gold throughout. I went on a weekend night and it was really busy. Expect to wait for fresh food. I will say that the wait was quite long and there really isn't much room to wait so maybe better to order ahead. I ordered the chicken shawarma sandwich. Everything was hot but the chicken was a little tough. I may come back to try another item off the menu since it is down the street.

I stopped by on my home home feeling adventurous since I've never had Shawarma before. The service was great, they were very accommodating answering all of my questions about the food. The food was good, the salad was fresh and the dressing was flavorful. I think I had definitely found a more healthy option than my normal fast food meal.

A QSR with a clean interior that created a pleasant dining environment. The service was just okay, not exceptional. The chicken shawarma Saj had a nice texture but lacked flavor, feeling somewhat bland. The beef shawarma bowl was filling, but I was disappointed by the limited topping options, which could have enhanced the dish. Worth for a quick bite!

Located in a shopping plaza with ample parking spaces. Definitely one of the better falafels that I've had around Dallas. It comes with a mix of pickled vegetables. The lentil soup was also tasty and comes with lemon if you like to add it in your soup to add a refreshing flavor. The restaurant is open late if you're craving late night meals too.

You order at the counter and they bring your food to you. We love Middle Eastern food so we were quite pleased that this restaurant exists in the middle of the Texas countryside. I am sure that the people of Murphy and Lucas do not consider themselves as country dwellers, but coming from Dallas, it is countryside. Not saying that is good or bad, just an observation. Anyway, the restaurant. We started with a side of hummus and it was very good. I like a bit less tahini and more garlic, but I am not complaining about this hummus. It came with pita bread. I wish it had been warm. I ordered the shish taouk (cubed chicken breast) and it was excellent. Chicken was tender and very flavorful. It came with rice, some pickles, and an olive dip that I never saw before but it was good too. The wife had the beef shawarma and it also was very flavorful. Beef was tender and good quality. Her's also came with rice. Both of our dishes were excellent and we both would order again. Service was very friendly. It's a family owned restaurant and you can tell that they really care. It was not terrible busy on a Saturday night so I hope they are successful. If I lived in Murphy or Lucas I would be here once a week for sure.

The sauces are amazing - tzatziki, hummus, baba ghanoush, and more. I personally love the chicken cooked in a yogurt sauce, roasted cauliflower, and chickpea moussaka as my top standouts, but truly there are too many delicious things to name. I love how many chicken options there are as someone who isn't crazy about beef or pork. There is also falafel and plenty of beans for your vegan/ vegetarian friends. There were markers for allergies / preferences on the labels, but I didn't attend too closely as I don't have dietary restrictions. They have tasty rice pudding topped with pistachios and fresh fruit as something sweet to pair with your meal. I enjoy the lentil soup for dipping pita bread in. All you can eat buffets are always the best for getting to try everything and making everyone in your party happy. It's a bit on the expensive side (around $25 per person before tip), but it's totally worth it for special occasions. Within the last year they've redone the seating inside, but the food quality has stood the test of time!

So he said it was over $84 for three people. I complained a little to him about it and went on, THEN my wife heard the lady next to my male cashier charge someone the $25 flat with no tax!!!! I of course went and asked her WHY???? She said because the other guy paid with cash.... There is not tax!!!! I said you mean a credit card fee right?? She said NO.... If you pay cash there is no tax!!!!! I'd like the Great State of Texas to look into this one. I bet the comptroller would like to know about this!!! TBH, I really don't think the other guy probably even paid cash. It felt like a hate on whitey move to me. THIS PLACE IS SHADY.

Afrah is THE place to be for Mediterranean food - before Greenville Ave became Arab central, before there was anyone, there was Afrah. A beautiful, airy restaurant with gorgeous seating, a bustling dessert case, ice cream center and so many treats to offer under one roof. Afrah is to the Muslim community in Richardson as a glove is to a hand. It truly is a one stop shop for all your nostalgic cravings, and it would be a grave injustice on my part if I didn't stop by here and sing praise to one of the most loved Mediterranean restaurants in the DFW area. We visited here recently for an iftar buffet experience and were very very happy with the food we got. The buffet line was running smoothly, from staff working diligently to hand everyone a tray with napkins, plates and cutlery already set for you. Waiters were going around the massive dining hall clearing plates, making sure everyone had what they needed, seating patrons and asking if everything tasted good. This establishment runs like a literal well oiled machine and I am so impressed. The food was as always out of this world. Carefully prepared menu that satisfies everyone's taste buds. A good selection of classic cold appetizers like the baba ghanoush, hummus, and variety of salads. Always including something unique for a typical Middle Eastern flare. Hot lentil soup available with bowls carefully placed in the vicinity. So many different types of kebabs and freshly made hot pita bread being replaced like clockwork. The buffet had many of my favorite classics like Shawarma meat, beef kebab, chicken kebab. Lamb, chicken stew, baked chicken, everything was present in abundance. They even had salmon which I deeply appreciated as a seafood lover. My only complaint is the food wasn't hot enough which can be annoying with a buffet that is serving so many people during a busy time like Ramadan. Everything tasted absolutely phenomenal and when I returned for dessert, I was greeted with six different types of sweets from all over the world. That's the thing about this place. There's always something for everybody. The dining hall was bustling with not just Muslim patrons, but also a lot of American white patrons who equally enjoy the food here as much as we do. Inclusions of dishes like shrimp pasta, fried fish, chocolate mousse, and other fan favorites is a humble nod to non-Arab customers who love to frequent this place as much as we do. If you are looking for a quality Mediterranean experience look no further than this long-standing Mediterranean Haven. Thank you for nourishing the community.

They cook it upon order, so expect 30-45 minutes delay. We have tried their kabob one time and it was okay but nothing special. They don't have regular tap water and you have to buy bottled water which is fine with me. What I don't like is when asked for shatta/hot sauce, a small container will be brought in, and then they will you charge you for that without telling you about the extra charge first. Almost all mediterranean restaurant never charge for any shatta, in my experience, but this restaurant does! On top of that, extra charge for shatta is not mentioned in the menu or anywhere or verbally said by the server. Not sure how hard is it for the restaurant to be transparent with the pricing with the diners. Their Richardson location website also doesn't work and I am not sure why it is then advertised on Google. The other thing I don't like is that they now have new items on the menu like rotisserie chicken and other items. It is not mentioned by the server and also not listed in their restaurant menu. How would the customer know about these new items? They also do catering and have varitey of different items only available through catering. Again, how would customer know about their catering service and about those items only available through catering? Not sure what the thinking process is, but they surely are losing interested and potential new customers to other bunch of similar restaurants in the area! They have to improve their communications if they want to survive and thrive.

This place is passable but has particular issues. In this case, their sheer drop in quality from a relatively 5-star experience to a 2-star is how they ended up here. One thing that particularly irks me is when staff do not know their own menu. Everytime I call here I've gotten different responses and their posted menu doesn't match with what's in store, so soon after opening. To make it simple, they've got the essential shawarma sandwiches or plates + fried chicken. That'll save you a headache. They're nice people though. I'll get to that a bit more. As for the food, on our first visit we thought we'd found the Shawarma spot. Moist meats, good quality ingredient and besides a slight mix up nothing to really complain about. On subsequent visits, that all unraveled; order confusion, rotten salads (which they replaced with a slightly less dead one) and dry meat which returned with the fury of the DFW halal scene. Disappointing to see this place fall in such a short time. Well, after reading all that this isn't the most inspiring recommendation, but I'd still ask you try this place out in hopes you experience what I did that first time. Do your due diligence and eat well my people.
