You order at the counter and they bring your food to you. We love Middle Eastern food so we were quite pleased that this restaurant exists in the middle of the Texas countryside. I am sure that the people of Murphy and Lucas do not consider themselves as country dwellers, but coming from Dallas, it is countryside. Not saying that is good or bad, just an observation. Anyway, the restaurant. We started with a side of hummus and it was very good. I like a bit less tahini and more garlic, but I am not complaining about this hummus. It came with pita bread. I wish it had been warm. I ordered the shish taouk (cubed chicken breast) and it was excellent. Chicken was tender and very flavorful. It came with rice, some pickles, and an olive dip that I never saw before but it was good too. The wife had the beef shawarma and it also was very flavorful. Beef was tender and good quality. Her's also came with rice. Both of our dishes were excellent and we both would order again. Service was very friendly. It's a family owned restaurant and you can tell that they really care. It was not terrible busy on a Saturday night so I hope they are successful. If I lived in Murphy or Lucas I would be here once a week for sure.

I've never been to this restaurant before, so that is what's fun with TGTG, you can try places you've never been to before at a discounted rate and you help save food that might have eventually been headed to the dumpster. The restaurant was cute, I liked the decor. The man that met me was nice and friendly. I arrived a few minutes ahead of the slotted pickup time so I took a seat at the couch near the door. I received one of the Chicken Over Rice (Kabsa). The meat was moist and fell right off the bone. The rice was rather dry and it had a cinnamon flavor to it. What I was most shocked at was the serving size of the chicken - it was very small. If I had to pay $21, full price, I would have been very upset. Since I only paid $6.99, so be it.

The service has always been friendly and attentive, which is one of the reasons we keep coming back.

This one was a little bit too mushy and the texture was too liquid. 3.8/5 I also took the malayeh which was white pudding desert , which was not too sweet and very tasty . 4.4/5 Will come back to try other items in the menu and also my preferable version of fatteh!

I personally love the chicken cooked in a yogurt sauce, roasted cauliflower, and chickpea moussaka as my top standouts, but truly there are too many delicious things to name. I love how many chicken options there are as someone who isn't crazy about beef or pork. There is also falafel and plenty of beans for your vegan/ vegetarian friends. There were markers for allergies / preferences on the labels, but I didn't attend too closely as I don't have dietary restrictions. They have tasty rice pudding topped with pistachios and fresh fruit as something sweet to pair with your meal. I enjoy the lentil soup for dipping pita bread in. All you can eat buffets are always the best for getting to try everything and making everyone in your party happy. I finally took advantage of some extra time I had and checked them out. This is a nice comfortable home-feeling atmosphere here. Instead of the typical restaurant or pizzeria type tables, they utilize what you would find in kitchens at a home. It's not a big chain by any means just a small family business. As I do at any restaurant that serves pizza that I try, I ordered a plain cheese pizza just to get a feel on what they're doing here and how they're doing it. I have to say it was pretty solid! There was a perfect ratio of sauce to cheese and their oven did a nice job browning the cheese on top while perfectly cooking the crust of the pizza. The pie crust was very tasty. I certainly would not hesitate to come here again!

The restaurant itself is not very polished and when it's busy can look a little messy with dirty tables from previous customers. I would also avoid using the bathroom. The server was kind and quick to bring our food and take our order, but I was not a big fan of watching our server vape in the corner while I was eating. The reason this gets a 4 star is because the food is quite exceptional. Everything was well seasoned and cooked over charcoal fire. All their meats were really juicy and tender and their hummus with pita was super smooth and delicious. It was only $50 for 3 people to eat their fill and have leftovers. I probably wouldn't bring people here to show them the area, but could see myself stopping here again to get food for takeout.

In this case, their sheer drop in quality from a relatively 5-star experience to a 2-star is how they ended up here. One thing that particularly irks me is when staff do not know their own menu. Everytime I call here I've gotten different responses and their posted menu doesn't match with what's in store, so soon after opening. To make it simple, they've got the essential shawarma sandwiches or plates + fried chicken. That'll save you a headache. They're nice people though. I'll get to that a bit more. As for the food, on our first visit we thought we'd found the Shawarma spot. Moist meats, good quality ingredient and besides a slight mix up nothing to really complain about. On subsequent visits, that all unraveled; order confusion, rotten salads (which they replaced with a slightly less dead one) and dry meat which returned with the fury of the DFW halal scene. Disappointing to see this place fall in such a short time. Well, after reading all that this isn't the most inspiring recommendation, but I'd still ask you try this place out in hopes you experience what I did that first time. Do your due diligence and eat well my people.
