Chicken shawarma meal, beef kebab entree and Egg dish
    Vijay N.

Stopped by here for lunch today. Great friendly service. Got food at the table in around 20-25 minutes as told while ordering Wife had the chicken shawarma meal, I tasted a bit and loved it as did the wife I got the beef kebab entre and egg add on Egg was delicious with the assorted veggies some of which are pickled, came with pita bread Beef kebab was great but had a gamy after taste, I feel like it was lamb meat perhaps (I have never had gamy tasting beef ever) The rice that came with the kebab was mouthwateringly delicious - tasted just like Calcutta/awadhi style biryani rice Would love to come back and try out rest of the menu and the desserts

Alzarrad is an inviting sort of restaurant with a homey atmosphere and local, street food style. The only drawback for my experience here was that the drinks are not refillable, but nothing to repugn a lurking diner seeking easy comestibles. The employees are amicable and procure toothsome victuals in a quick manner. I would add here that the chicken tenders are a tad arid, be that as it may, anyone (me) who orders chicken tenders from a shawarma joint probably should've seen it coming. Speak of the shawarma and here it comes. The beef is delectable, as is the chicken, and unlike many other restaurants of this twig, some of the wraps have cheese in them. (I'm not sure if it's jibneh or akkawi, but it's delicious).

We've driven past this restaurant so many times and kept forgetting to stop by. Finally, we got the chance to dine in, and wow, what an experience! The inside is immaculate and beautifully clean. When we walked in, it was a peaceful haven with very little foot traffic. We ordered beef shawarma, chicken shawarma, hummus, baba ganoush, and some bread. My husband loved the beef shawarma so much he wanted to return the next day! Every dish was bursting with freshness and flavor. This place deserves to be packed because the food is just too good to miss. We will definitely be coming back again and again!

Fattoush salad w/chicken shawarma, Baba Ghahoush side, and pita bread

Friendly, family owned restaurant. Great service, always smiling and greeting everyone that steps inside. Restaurant is clean. Food is fresh and full of flavors. I love their fattoush salad and always ask them to top off with chicken shawarma. We usually order the falafel appetizer or baba ghanoush on the side to share. Place order at the register and they serve you at your table when your meal is ready. Food comes out just the right temperature and in a to-go container. They bring the pita bread in a basket. I highly recommend giving this wonderful restaurant a try.

The fresh kanafeh is always warm, crispy, and perfectly cheesy with just the right amount of sweetness. We also love getting an assorted selection of baklava--it's flaky, buttery, and packed with flavor. The ambience is bright, welcoming, and a great place to sit and enjoy dessert. The service has always been friendly and attentive, which is one of the reasons we keep coming back.

It was SO special. We haven't been back in many years and not only did that magical original location close, but what we found instead was this monstrosity of a location that felt hyper corporatized and commercial--in other words, soulless. Listen, we don't begrudge them their success. And we were so happy for them when we saw them being mentioned in the NYT a few years ago. But now Bigdash has gone full American--they've expanded to multiple locations, the quality has gone down, and that je-ne-sais-quoi magic is completely gone. We came here yesterday after a stellar meal at Khashoka, excited since it's been so long since our last visit. We walked in (it was freezing) and the whole place looked like a Disney-ified version of the original Big Dash. There was one woman working, and she was very friendly, but what a different experience than mingling with the original owners in the unpretentious cozy ambience. The worst part is that the ice cream is nowhere near as good! The original Arabic ice cream's level of rose water was off and the ice cream's stretchiness felt less organically created. The pistachio was OK. Our daughter got this crazy container of small individual frozen fruit shapes that were covered in chocolate. Those felt cute and special and we liked them all except for the grape. Again, we're happy for Bigdash's success. They deserve it. But we will not be back again because what we loved so much about this place is no longer. Tis the American way, alas! Three stars and sincere best wishes to them.

The restaurant inside was thoughtfully decorated and the gentleman at the counter was very polite and offered exceptional service. He answered a couple of our questions regarding their menu which made it easier to make a decision. When I say this food packed such a major flavor punch, this is an understatement! Everyone there when considering which wrapped sandwich to get should absolutely get the Saj. It's thin and crispy and contents inside were reminiscent of delicious middle eastern street food but still offered something new! My mixed meat bowl came with three toppings. I chose feta (which was the real deal feta, not some crappy dried out American feta) along with both pickles and pickled turnips. The vinaigrette the salad was tossed in was acidic and bright and made me miss eating a salad. The meat when mixed together with their tahini and garlic sauce was exactly what I needed. Can't wait to come back and try more! Yall should too!

Negatives: the falafel sandwich while flavorful had almost no hummus in it and not enough tahini which made it too dry. The tabouleh salad was horrible. Afrah is THE place to be for Mediterranean food - before Greenville Ave became Arab central, before there was anyone, there was Afrah. A beautiful, airy restaurant with gorgeous seating, a bustling dessert case, ice cream center and so many treats to offer under one roof. Afrah is to the Muslim community in Richardson as a glove is to a hand. It truly is a one stop shop for all your nostalgic cravings, and it would be a grave injustice on my part if I didn't stop by here and sing praise to one of the most loved Mediterranean restaurants in the DFW area. We visited here recently for an iftar buffet experience and were very very happy with the food we got. The buffet line was running smoothly, from staff working diligently to hand everyone a tray with napkins, plates and cutlery already set for you. Waiters were going around the massive dining hall clearing plates, making sure everyone had what they needed, seating patrons and asking if everything tasted good. This establishment runs like a literal well oiled machine and I am so impressed. The food was as always out of this world. Carefully prepared menu that satisfies everyone's taste buds. A good selection of classic cold appetizers like the baba ghanoush, hummus, and variety of salads. Always including something unique for a typical Middle Eastern flare. Hot lentil soup available with bowls carefully placed in the vicinity. So many different types of kebabs and freshly made hot pita bread being replaced like clockwork. The buffet had many of my favorite classics like Shawarma meat, beef kebab, chicken kebab. Lamb, chicken stew, baked chicken, everything was present in abundance. They even had salmon which I deeply appreciated as a seafood lover. My only complaint is the food wasn't hot enough which can be annoying with a buffet that is serving so many people during a busy time like Ramadan. Everything tasted absolutely phenomenal and when I returned for dessert, I was greeted with six different types of sweets from all over the world. That's the thing about this place. There's always something for everybody. The dining hall was bustling with not just Muslim patrons, but also a lot of American white patrons who equally enjoy the food here as much as we do. Inclusions of dishes like shrimp pasta, fried fish, chocolate mousse, and other fan favorites is a humble nod to non-Arab customers who love to frequent this place as much as we do. If you are looking for a quality Mediterranean experience look no further than this long-standing Mediterranean Haven. Thank you for nourishing the community.

They cook it upon order, so expect 30-45 minutes delay. We have tried their kabob one time and it was okay but nothing special. What I don't like is when asked for shatta/hot sauce, a small container will be brought in, and then they will you charge you for that without telling you about the extra charge first. Almost all mediterranean restaurant never charge for any shatta, in my experience, but this restaurant does! On top of that, extra charge for shatta is not mentioned in the menu or anywhere or verbally said by the server. Not sure how hard is it for the restaurant to be transparent with the pricing with the diners. Their Richardson location website also doesn't work and I am not sure why it is then advertised on Google. The other thing I don't like is that they now have new items on the menu like rotisserie chicken and other items. It is not mentioned by the server and also not listed in their restaurant menu. How would the customer know about these new items? They also do catering and have varitey of different items only available through catering. Again, how would customer know about their catering service and about those items only available through catering? Not sure what the thinking process is, but they surely are losing interested and potential new customers to other bunch of similar restaurants in the area! They have to improve their communications if they want to survive and thrive.
