I'm not from Gatlinburg, but some friends and I decided to stop here for dinner and it was the best decision we made on our trip. The staff was incredibly welcoming and accommodating to our large group size. Our waitress was incredibly kind and attentive, stopping by frequently. I can't stress enough how delicious the food was. very good service. came here twice during my trip with my family and had an excellent experience. we had the same waiter both nights that remembered us and the drinks we had. took the job seriously and connected with the people. the food was extensional with a wide selection of food. the outside patio is great the flowers and everything created a cozy atmosphere that felt fancy and warm. if you are coming here consider sitting outside in the front, it is beautiful. the strawberry spinach salad was the best. i think our waiter name was michale. this place cares about their customer. and they have great bread, handmade too! they take this very seriously. My dear wife agrees that this is a Perfect Date experience. Thankfully, very Old School and Not a ubiquitous sports bar which is infecting local dining. We been coming here since 1970's and loving it all. Always a great sign when my wife cannot decide between 7 possibilities. Great menu, and menu changes; great service, and a romantic ambience. We were seated outside on the front patio and ordered the truly southern eggs benedict and a soup and salad plate with a scoop of chicken salad. We felt like the eggs benedict was a must try when visiting TN because it had a lot of local flavors- fried green tomatoes, pimento hollandaise, and a biscuit. The chicken was juicy on the inside, crunchy on the outside, and the pecan crust added a rich, slightly sweet flavor that made it feel special without being overdone. I'd like to start off saying I typically won't post a review unless it was phenomenal because I want to promote small business owners. We have vacationed in the area on a regular basis but had always gone to the "big Old Mill restaurant" but so many people on Yelp were giving glowing reviews about the cafe, so we decided to check it out. The menu is great. Lots of unique twists on regular items. The server was excellent! Our food experience was not excellent. Three of us got the lunch combo of a sandwich and a bowl of soup. One got the chicken tenders. It was 25° when we visited and we needed some warm wholesome food to fill our souls. The issue I had was the temperature of my food. Barely warm baked potato soup the grilled cheese must have been sitting so long because the cheese was back in a solid /plastic looking state. No warm gooey cheese one would expect on a three cheese grilled cheese. (I would also bet there was only one cheese on it as I didn't taste Gruyere at all. The chicken tenders were excellent. Fresh, nothing previously frozen. The desserts looked phenomenal but we didn't try them. Coconut cream pie, hot fudge pie, and the cakes....might go back tomorrow just to give dessert a try. read more

Great food and service. Choice of inside our outdoor dining. We started with some really tasty bread, and an appetizer, Chicken Livers. I don't think that they did anything wrong with these. My wife and I hadn't had chicken livers in approximately forever, and then it was in the form of a spread on dark rye bread (which we liked). But full-on chicken livers--we are now pretty confident that they are not our thing. The restaurant insisted on taking them off our bill, even though we told them that we didn't think they did anything wrong. Let's move on from that unpleasantness. My wife had an Open Faced Roast Beef sandwich that came with mashed potatoes and cinnamon apples. She hadn't had one of these (which she calls a "Manhattan sandwich") in years, and loved it. I had the Beef Short Ribs, served over cheddar cheese grits. Delicious. I had it with the Tomato Basil soup, which I also enjoyed a great deal. We ended with Chocolate Pecan Pie, which we split. As always, PHC was amazing. My go to is always the smoky mountain cheesesteak. The bread MAKES the sandwich. Their sour dough is so fresh and savory. Fries, and a pickle spear are perfect pairings. This is one of those restaurants where the menu looks so good that you end up talking with the people at the next table about how good it looks, asking for and making recommendations. Then your food arrives and you realized that you ordered perfectly! For this lunch visit I had the Garden Melt (served on their house-made onion rye bread, and yes, I bought a loaf of it to take) and the most amazing pasta salad I've ever had. My sister (a Sevier County local who had never been here before) has found her new go-to place. She loved the French Onion Soup and Chicken Salad Sandwich. It was fun to just look around and see all the other diners enjoying their food as much as you we were. Great atmosphere, friendly service, and the prices are not outrageous. We love Pottery House!! Every time I visit my mom and step dad and we come up to Pigeon Forge and Dollywood we stop by here for dinner and it never disappoints! They have a wide variety of food options on the menu. First you must order their fresh bread that they make in house. It's a whole loaf and it comes out nice and hot and served with fluffy butter. Yum! We didn't order an appetizer this time but in the past we've had the fried pickles and fried green tomatoes. This time I ordered their chicken salad & wedge salad and I thoroughly enjoyed it! You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. We love that they use their own pottery pieces for dishes. The gift store is super cute and we always enjoy looking at all the pottery pieces. The Pottery House Cafe is ALWAYS a treat! The food was delicious which was great because while our server, Rebecca, was kind, she was MIA for much of our visit. She was either at other tables taking orders and bringing their food or no where in the dining area to be seen. There were two tables of guests that came in after us and received their food before us. They even left before our food arrived. Thankfully, our food was hot and tasty when it arrived. The long wait on food is not typical Pottery House service, which was surprising to us since we have gone there many times. Fortunately, this is an enjoyable place to sit and enjoy the view out the window, but it would have been nice to get our food sooner. We enjoyed our meal at the old mill pottery cafe while in Pigeon Forge. My wife had the Summer Berry Salad with chicken salad added. I had the 2 chicken breasts (with Teriyaki sauce) over rice and a side of broccoli. All was very tasty. This place is AMAZING. By far my favorite. We stopped in here for lunch. It was quiet in the old mill area because it was before spring breaks and we are local to the area now. They are amazing letting me order off the dinner menu.. how can I pass up old forges pecan fried chicken. It is delicious! The others at the table had cheeseburgers. Our waiter was kind of slow and forgetful. When we noticed everyone around us had yummy complimentary bread we asked did we miss something? He said at lunch time they only provide bread when the customer asks., I have to doubt this because we saw people sat and given bread immediately. So if you go at lunch as for bread if you r wait staff doesn't give it to you. Still my favorite restaurant in the area. Some day I will try the other delicious entrees. There was some time for our large party to wait for a table but it wasn't much of an issue as there's plenty of stores around to kill time with. Some of our group sauntered off to sample and buy moonshine at a nearby distillery while we took the toddler to a gift store, got some duck food (corn bag) and fed the many pigeons, geese and ducks waiting nearby. Once seated, we ordered fried green tomatoes to start and for entrees, the pottery house hot brown, the Carolina BBQ pork plate with collard greens as substitute for cole slaw and also the chicken gumbo and grits. Not being a fan of green tomatoes themselves, I was pleasantly surprised that these fried ones were delicious, with not enough of the green tomato flavor that I dislike. The hot brown was okay, it was an open faced sandwich with a lot of stuff on it but it wasn't a showstopper. However, the Carolina BBQ pork was very good and generously portioned and the best of this trio, the chicken gumbo and grits, well, I was thinking about it for days after, as it was just amazing. We sampled all three entrees at the table and the gumbo was the undoubted king of flavor. Man, so good. Bread was also served at the table and it was devoured by all, which meant there was no room for dessert, sadly, though they offer many tantalizing options. We made our first visit to this place, and let me tell you, the wait was a bit of a bummer. Even though there were plenty of tables available, it seemed like they were stretched thin. And the tables were just dirty for a long time, which made me wonder if they were short-staffed. But hey, all that aside, it was still worth the trip.
