My sons thought this place was fire so I'm eating it a 5 star. One of my sons is very picky. Our wait wasn't too long. They quotes our wait time perfectly. Pancakes are huge. They serve 3 eggs which makes the meal well worth it.
We took a trip to Gatlinburg TN to celebrate my sister's 60th birthday. We were on the fence about where to eat and couldn't decide on what we wanted. We started on our adventure and in front of us there it was, Sun Diner. It was 10 people in our party, and our wait was 30 minutes. The ambience was amazing because it offered a view of the past with pictures of musicians. The food was amazing. I ordered the Million Dollar Quartet! The pork belly, waffle, fried eggs and potatoes were delicious! I didn't have any complaints or leftovers. The portions were a good size and more than I expected especially for the price in this economy. Our waitress was Misty and she was friendly, she was excellent at her job and made us feel at home! This was a great experience and please stop by if you're in the area and ask for Misty!
This was the most fun diner we stumbled upon by happenstance! Based on the famous Sun Records, I loved the music memorabilia & references in the menu! No wait, great service, & loved the bar setup like a real diner! Great food as well! Will be back!
This place looked cool so we tried it and glad we did. Friendly service, awesome decor/memoribilia and our food was really good! I had the crème brûlée French toast - so so good and presented beautifully too! If we are ever in gatlinburg again we will eat here !
Second time I have been to this restaurant within the past two weeks BEFORE 5 PM and they are closed even though the sign says, "We are Open, come on in". Apple Maps says they are open. Can't tell you about the food or atmosphere because I've never been able to enter. Not a way to run a business.
Outstanding food and quirky atmosphere that works well for Gatlinburg. We ordered the Omelet with sides, and it was huge, and awesome. The wait staff member took their time with us since we visited during a slower period of the day, and talked with us for a while. Very friendly and professional. I was bragging on the place, and she gave us one of the menu's to carry with us, I told her I was going to do a review. I am going to attach the pictures of the menu if this website will allow it. This was current as of mid July 2026. Highly recommend this place.
Have tried this diner in Nashville off broadway and now in gatlinburg and have enjoyed it both times. The burger was fire! We actually split it after some wine tasting. Ton of flavor and satisfying. No way I would have been able to eat the whole thing. Service was great, diner feel but it felt clean. For being right of the strip it actually wasn't too crowded for a late lunch.
We stopped here because many of the other breakfast options were lined out the door and this restaurant had no wait. The server was very friendly and quick to assist. Food came out relatively quickly. I didn't like sitting at the "bar" seating. The food was alright, but a bit pricey for what it was. All of that said, I don't think this will be a spot we visit again, but it wasn't bad.
We were looking for a place to have a quick dinner and when we were browsing menus and saw the Monte Crisco I was hooked. I was addicted to Bennigan's version and looked forward to trying that. The place was packed usually a good sign. And seemed like a lot more locals than tourists. We both ordered the Monte Crisco other than it not being deep fried, it was pretty good but a little slopped and potatoes were pretty over-cooked. And definitely filling. We sure as heck didn't leave hungry.
Better food than most of gatlinburg but same prices. Though the menu is smaller, the items are quality. We ordered the Chicken and Waffles, Veggie Omelet, and their classic cinnamon roll. Everything was great! I'm not personally a fan of gravy, so I would not have ordered the chicken and waffles with the gravy, but my friend really liked it. The cinnamon roll was warm and fresh. It was surprisingly good! Worth it! The veggie omelet was tasty and filling. Plus you do get a little arugula salad and pico, and some potatoes. The staff was quick and friendly. I did overhear our waiter talking to another customer (their food was talking longer than it should have to come out of the kitchen) he gave them a cinnamon roll and comped their meal. They were there before we arrived and we had almost finished eating our food before all of their arrived. I thought that was very professional and solid customer service for the waiter to take care of them like that when the kitchen was being slow. The interior is a bit like a diner with bar-like seating and service and an open kitchen you can watch. It also has big screens playing clips of older musicians and classic songs. It was a cool vibe! I would certainly go back and would recommend breakfast here if you're visiting gatlinburg!
Ok, first off, I'm a huge Elvis fan & I've toured Sun Studios in Memphis several times. So when we're walking down the main drag in Gatlinburg & I saw Sun Diner, I was SO excited. Did some research on their website & we decided to try them for lunch today. I expected to hear Elvis/classic Sun music when I walked in, & thankfully, was not disappointed. Lots of pictures on the wall & large screens playing clips of Elvis, Roy Orbison, Jerry Lee Lewis, & BB King. There were also a couple of TVs playing basketball games. Service was fast & friendly. I ordered the Doughnut Sandwich & my husband got the Elvis Pancakes. I don't know why, but I pictured one doughnut cut in half, with the sausage/egg/cheese in the middle, but no .... each "bun" is a giant doughnut. The server recommended just squishing it down to flatten it! I don't understand how doughnut + sausage/egg/cheese tastes so good together. It truly defies logic. But man. So good. The Elvis Pancakes are covered with peanut butter & bananas foster (which my husband described as "caramelized bananas"). He said they were the best pancakes he'd ever had. The whole experience was great & as a Sun Studios fan, I highly recommend!
This place was amazing! Such a cozy little dinner in Gat. The staff was so sweet and attentive. Food came out relatively quick. It was different than your typical restaurant, definitely had a more social feel. I probably set a world record for how fast I ate my French toast. It was DELICIOUS!! I'll definitely stop back here I can't wait!!
Food was really tasty! The waiting area up front is small, and it can get crowded. Most seating is bar style, like at an old diner. There are 3-4 booths/tables, but if you want one of them be prepared to wait. Make sure you get an order of pork belly, OMG!!!! The diner is based on Sun Recording Studio opened in Memphis, Tennessee by Sam Phillips. Many consider Sam to be the Father of Rock N' Roll. He is responsible for discovering such artists as: Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Roy Orbison, Howlin' Wolf, and Ike Turner, as well as many others!
I absolutely enjoyed my visit here. It was pretty packed so I didn't mind the wait time on the food to come out, but everything came out great. The eggs, home fries, the waffle, all were great. I'd love to come back and try other menu items. read more
There are a lot of good places to eat breakfast in Gatlinburg. Unfortunately, Sun Diner isn't one of them. We actually planned on eating about a block down the street, but that place was packed. Sun Diner wasn't. So we figured, why wait? We walked in, got seated right away, and thought we'd gotten lucky. Turns out the crowd knew something we didn't. I want to be fair: the staff was very nice, and the food wasn't horrible. Nobody ruined breakfast. Nobody served us something inedible. It was simply disappointing, especially for the price. I ordered the Crème Brûlée French Toast, which sounds like something that ought to make you forget every responsible decision you've ever made before 10 in the morning. It certainly looked impressive when it hit the table--French toast, strawberries, blueberries, whipped cream, syrup, the whole production. Then I ate it. There just wasn't much there beyond the presentation. For something called Crème Brûlée French Toast, I expected rich, decadent, maybe a little crisp caramelized magic somewhere. Instead, it tasted like fairly ordinary French toast dressed up for a night on the town. And it was way overpriced for what it was. Gatlinburg is a tourist town. I understand tourist-town prices. But if you're going to charge premium breakfast prices, the food has to earn them. When one breakfast place has people waiting outside and another a block away has empty tables, sometimes the best restaurant review is already happening on the sidewalk. Next time, we'll wait in the line. read more

First time here and won't be our last! What a great atmosphere this place has! It's very open and is designed after the old diners from the 50's. It was crowded but not too bad. We sat at the huge bar and spent time looking at all the decor. And there a lot to look at! The menu is pretty diverse and the prices are not too bad. Our server was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. She made some suggestions and we ordered our food. The wait isn't very long, maybe 15 to 20 minutes. The food was hot and fantastic! I'm not sure what they put on those potatoes, but you don't need to add one thing to them! I've never seen a place give you the portion of eggs you get here either! Do yourself a favor and try one of the waffles! The bacon was great, again, a large portion of it too! We left very satisfied and this place has replaced Pancake Pantry as our go to in Gatlinburg! Thank you! read more

The Sun Diner's meat lovers omelet was huge and quite delicious! Our server, Raven, was very friendly. We'll definitely be back - next time I want to try the sweet biscuits & gravy. read more
Outside looks like a recording studio, when you first walk in, you are greeted with a blast from the past vibe. There are tons of famous celebrities on the walls and videos of Elvis playing. They also have sports on for those of you that need to stay updated on the game. They have booths and bar stool seating, and classic hits on the stereo keeping to the theme. The food was excellent! There's a one page menu that keeps simplicity, which we really appreciated. When you come here, the pork belly side is a MUST...do not skip this, they are cooked perfectly. The chicken n waffles had a sausage gravy blanketing the dish which really elevated it apart from anywhere else you have had this dish. The donut sandwich was really fun, and tasted good as well. Everything was good honestly, would definitely come back. Staff really made the experience even better... they know their stuff, made sure you are happy as can be, and certain dishes get you a little dance which gave the room a laugh. read more
Our second visit to this restaurant this year in less than a month I might add! I couldn't get over how good it was the first time and well those Breakfast tacos were calling my name! I got them with Chorizo and it came with eggs, lettuce, tomato and pico de gallo with chipotle ranch sauce and a nice array of purple, sweet and regular potatoes! Oh my goodness they were delicious! The tacos were very tasty and with our waitress suggestion I put their own hot sauce on them! A little bit greasy from the chorizo but that just made them better! I loved the different flavors of the potatoes too! It really set them off!! My boyfriend had the Short Rib Hash with two over medium eggs on top of it! He really liked it but said that the eggs were a little too done as we both like runny eggs! Our waitress was fantastic and very attentive! It's a cool little restaurant that replicates the actual music of the original in Memphis! The big TV on the back wall is always playing some good oldies and has music memorabilia everywhere! It's definitely a cool place for a quick lunch!!! read more

Was on family vacation last week in Gatlinburg and stopped by this place for lunch with the kiddos. The employees were friendly and hardworking even though it was so hot outside (and inside in certain parts of the restaurant). There was plenty of seating but it was PACKED. We were told we had a 30 minute wait but it ended up being way less than that. The food was delicious! The Southwest Omelette was perfectly cooked and delicious. It was served with Tri-color potatoes that were sooo good. The flavor of both chicken dishes was great but they definitely look crunchier than they were (which was fine for us but can be disappointing if you're looking for crunch). The prices were decent for what we were served, I would definitely recommend to a friend. read more

I love how the restaurant is set up - barstools and u-shaped bar tables with the waiter in the center going up and down the long bar table serving beverages and hot plates of delicious food. I went to Sun Diner twice in my one week stay in Gatlinburg. I loved the veggie omelette. My son had the classic burger with fries. read more

This was our first time seeing a Sun Record Company Diner, so we stopped in for supper. On entering we were told by our waiter that he was the only waiter on duty so it would be about 15 minutes before he could seat us, to our surprise it was only about 5 minutes. He was indeed the only waiter and was working quite hard taking care of everyone. I ordered the chicken and waffle and my wife had the meatloaf sandwich, both were very good. As busy as he was our waiter took time to talk to and joke with everybody and was quite entertaining. While the menu is somewhat limited, you can get breakfast lunch or dinner off it at anytime of the day. The decor was very interesting and we spent some time looking it over. Well worth a trip in if you're in the area! read more

Stopped in and they have only been open for four months but the service and food quality made it seem like they have been there a decade. I had the pork belly breakfast tacos and they were above and beyond my first thoughts as I ordered, the pancakes were fluffy and made just right. The bar/community style seating was great if you are a person like me that likes to meet and chat with new people. The only negative was no hot chocolate, but the coffee was very good. read more

I thought the chicken and waffles were delicious! My boyfriend felt the chicken was a little dry, but overall, it was very very good! The Million Dollar Quartet was good. Nothing spectacular, but very good. They also have a smoked ketchup that was very good with the potatoes. The atmosphere was really cool and the server was a sweetheart! It's a cool place to check out for breakfast if you're in Gatlinburg. read more
