Definitely a great place to stop for breakfast. Heading back to Knoxville, I decided to enjoy some cakes before hitting the road. Service was excellent, my order was taken quick and my meal delivered even quicker. The cakes here are sweet, delicious and bigger than your face. I added Strawberries sans whipped cream and a side of bacon for some fatty protein. This is prolly the largest diner I have ever been to. Seating is plentiful, the decor is cute and not too disruptive, and the breakfast bar has a telly. There is even a pink Caddy that serves as a table for that unique dining experience. I didn't have time to stop and shop but The Sunlight does have a gift shop tucked in the corner. I will definitely come back when I next visit. The Baseline: For an eclectic dining experience, the food offerings must be of quality for the variety offered, the seasoning/flavors must be special, the side dish offering must make sense with the other items, and the menu must be manageable. Food: Diner food with all day breakfast. Chicken and waffles were good thought the waffles were a bit crisp. The Avocado Benedict was good but the Avacado was a bit too ripe. The Ruben was okay and had a feel of a sandwich I could make at home. The good thing is that it is open late and a good place to come after Dollywood if you didn't stuff yourself there. Service: Great service with constant drink refills coming. Attentive server and efficient service. Ambiance: Super fun diner feel and I am sad we didn't get the convertible car booth. read more

This Diner gets all the stars! Not only was the food great, but the vibe was perfect and the waitress was great! When we first arrived the hostess asked us if we would like to dine in one of the cars. Of course we said yes. We had to wait about twenty minutes to be seated but we knew our little guy would love it! Once seated we ordered and our food arrived a short time later. I had the classic hamburger, my daughter had the BLT, my little guy had pancakes and sausage and my husband also had the burger! The prices were very reasonable! Decor & themes make places like this a ton of fun but landing the perfect server is really what makes the experience. I was having a rough day & chose Sunliner to try & make me feel better. Upon walking in I saw two full size car booths & a jukebox. The vibe was exactly what I was looking for. I'm happy to say we got HUNNY as our server & she was the best & she cheered me right up. She was wearing a bright yellow dress & singing along with the jukebox. We talked doo-wop songs & I got recommendations for what to order. I decided on Country Fried Chicken with Mashed Potatos & it did not disappoint. The shakes are also really good & come with a waffle on top. We were in a hotel on the same block and did not want to get back in the car after arriving around 8pm. A basic diner menu seemed perfect but the Sunliner was such a pleasant surprise! Such a cute atmosphere and great vibe + good food. I did not expect to be able to get a cocktail and I had a delicious Cosmo! Super friendly, attentive staff on a very busy and rainy Friday night. We were also sat extremely fast despite practically every table being full. Between the hosts, waitress and food runners we were set! This is a cute little themed 50's style diner. A couple tables are made to look like you're in an older car. We unfortunately came at a time when they were all taken. The food was actually really good - great biscuits and one of the best country fried steaks I've had! You can even order a milkshake with your breakfast if that's your thing. The food was decently priced considering that it is a high tourist spot and I ordered the patty melt. The food was pretty good, but my patty melt did feel a little dry, which was solved with ketchup so that was fine. I also ordered a milkshake, which I am glad to have tried to really dig into the diner feel, but I would recommend sharing with a friend because it was huge. The employees are super nice! I chose the Classic Burger, which was the perfect size and came with a generous portion of fries. The food was great and exactly what you hope for when visiting a classic diner. What really stood out the most, though, was the atmosphere. The attention to detail throughout the restaurant is impressive. The menu is designed like a 1958 newspaper, filled with fun facts from that time period. The servers are dressed in 1950's attire, and the vintage cars placed inside the diner are absolutely stunning and tie the whole theme together perfectly. This restaurant was absolutely amazing. Parking was hard on a Saturday morning. We had about a 15 minute wait with 6 people. I loved the old school atmosphere. There were two old school classic cars that doubled as tables and a little toy shop at the front of the store. Our server was the best, I cannot remember his name but he was a gem! Started with a wonderful cranberry mimosa! I had a very good corned beef hash with egg plate. But the beauty in the plate was in that classic biscuit. I made sure I had two because the biscuits looked fluffy and well baked. It was the highlight of my meal and the best biscuit I've ever had in my life. It was fresh, hot, light, and fluffy. Place looks packed but it was less than a 15 minute wait. You get a pager, so you can wander the gift shop while you wait. Check out the gift shop! So much fun stuff! The milkshake is delicious! So chocolatey. Great club, a little tall for my mouth but I managed. Fruit tastes fresh, not frozen! Great cheeseburger- did not need the double. Crispy fries. Had a nice meal here with my little one tonight. The wait for one of the fun cars you can eat in was too long (over an hour) but the ambiance was still fun in a regular diner booth. Service was prompt and waitress had some helpful recs including the fettuccini Alfredo which was surprisingly good for this type of environment. She told me they made the sauce in-house. Grilled chicken had a nice salty savouriness to it. I'd also love to get a bacon burger next time I'm here. My son had the corn dog and the fries that came with it were surprisingly good too. This was a "must eat" place on my wife's list as we planned our trip. At first glance it was exactly what we expected, 50's cars, waiters and waitresses dressed as such from the skirts to the hats, and the desserts that looked exceedingly over the top! There was a wait as we had 6 people (1 hour which went pretty quickly as no tables were left dirty. They were very prompt with the cleaning to get the guests a table.) While you wait there is a gift shop inside to ease the wait time as well. Note: there is a separate wait for the 2 car tables so you can request those as you sign in. The food itself was filling, our waitress Harley seemed to be upbeat and cheerful, not to mention informative. She helped fulfill our experience and made sure it was a rememberable one for our 4 kids. SUCCESS as they talked about the Diner all week even after we came home claiming it was their favorite! The entrees are relative to most diners and they were delicious. But the big topic is the desserts, definitely worth a trip just for the dessert. This is a 50's themed diner which has a very unique aesthetic to it. There are replica impalas made into table booths seating 4 comfortably, old style root beer floats accompanied by other 50's set pieces. I'm from New York visiting with family from North Carolina and staying in Tennessee for the week and we've been dying to try this diner but every time we go, the line is out the door. After we left Dollywood today, we decided to try again(there were eight of us) and there was still a bit of a wait but we waited. It was well worth the wait. I got "The Jukebox Burger" and if you finish it, you get a special surprise and when you order the burger you get a complimentary quarter for the jukebox. Well, our waitress, Mimoza was absolutely amazing! She was incredibly friendly, get our order perfect to a T and is just overall a genuinely nice woman. The food was AMAZING! We discovered it by driving past it. It caught our eye so we turned around. The whole restaurant is 1950's themed. Playing '50's songs and everyone is dressed like the '50's. Their menus are newspapers which I thought was pretty cool. When we ordered the fried pickles, our server said "I'll have those out hot and ready for you" and they were definitely hot and ready. They were so crispy. Our milkshakes were delicious. We had the staff surprise us with the "tickle party" where they pick what you get. Both of ours had a piece of waffle on it. It was really good. As for the burger, it was delicious. It was hot, juicy, and very flavorful. The fries were also probably the best fries I've ever had at a restaurant too. Never been here at all. Went to Pigeon Forge for a family vacation and stopped here on Monday, March 1st, and was very impressed. Walked in and was in awe! Very nostalgic old-school dinner vibes with everything being straight up from the 1950s. Loved it so much! The menu was just overwhelming with so much to choose from. We are full time RV'ers and love a good diner but the Sunliner Diner did not match the hype for us. We both ordered the patty melt of which we've had a lot of in the past. The meat was bland and the double patties were much too large for an old school patty melt, the onions were barely there. I had the onion rings which were nothing special, basically a production ring with extra heavy breading. My wife's fries were so so. But the big disappointment was the chocolate shake. One step above a fast food shake machine shake, nothing close to a diner hand dipped shake. Although they brought the silver shake cup, it had less than 2" of extra shake. This was nothing like the Route 66 Diner in Albuquerque. A very disappointing $55 meal. read more

One of a few open after 9 in Pigeon Forge. There was a small wait but there is a shop to check out with cute stuff. The place is a total diner and has car tables that have to be asked for or reserved. Once seated we were amazed at the milkshakes ordered by our neighboring tables. They looked delicious and are handspun. I ordered breakfast, eggs were done right, hashbrowns had a good crisp, the ham was a thick, the Belgian waffle had a good flavor. My friend got a burger, she said it needed salt, it wasn't going to win any awards but still yummy. Service was good. Chad was attentive and answered all of our questions. This is the most adordable places we've been to in a while Robbie was the most attentive and charismatic to. The buffalo chicken sandwich looked like 2 whole pieces of chicken. It was enormous! She has a whole other meal with the left overs lol. We have one vegetarian and she said the beyond Burger was really good. (I didn't try that one ). I sampled the girls' milkshakes and they were delish! If we are ever in the area again, we will definitely be back, and hopefully Robbie will still be there! We were in town for a few days and we had gotten some really food here in the past,so we decided to head back to get some good grub. I ordered the shrimp and grits and I have to say it was the poorest quality food I have ever experienced,the grits were runny and the slapped a piece of American cheese in the grits that never did melt! It practically had no test whatsoever and about 6 to 8 shrimp........all this for around 18 bucks! I was very disappointed . My wife got the Ruben burger which was fantastic we have always gotten good cuisine from there in the past. Hopefully it was a one off,but I would steer clear of the Shrimp and grits. We recently visited Sunliner Diner in Gatlinburg as a family of four, including two very hungry children. The staff was incredibly pleasant, friendly, and welcoming throughout our visit. The only downside was that service was a bit slow at the beginning, and it took a while for someone to notice that we had been seated and were ready to order. That said, once our food arrived, it was absolutely fantastic. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and well worth the wait. The staff was also very accommodating and made sure we were taken care of once they realized the delay. Overall, a great dining experience with delicious food and wonderful employees. With a little improvement in speed of service, this would easily be a five-star stop for our family. read more

I would give this place 3.5 stars if I could. It's super fun and has a great ambiance and atmosphere. It's really large and really loud. There are some car booths that are fun if you get seated in them also. They even have merch. Their menus are old timey newspapers which are super cute. They don't have a million options for food but they have some sandwiches, burgers, pasta and breakfast. Everyone liked their food-nothing to shout to the stars about but it was all good. We ordered fettuccini Alfredo with steak, strawberry pancake (with strawberries in the batter), meat lovers omelette, and avocado burger. They were pretty good portions too. The servers honestly seemed like they hate their life but I guess I can't blame them. It's crazy loud and there are a million people there but I didn't see one smiling or laughing server or worker and they weren't particularly friendly (not rude though). All in all it's a fun little stop to grab some grub and let off some steam and go back in time. read more
