Mountain Breakfast is a wonderful respite from the chaotic pancake houses in the area. Those are great, but if you want something a little more relaxed and a menu with some variety, Mountain Breakfast is your place. We were quoted a 30-40 minute wait, but it ended up only 18 minutes. The service was on game, super friendly and funny. We never waited for coffee refills. We had to try the fried bacon cheese curds with syrup. So good! I had the shrimp and grits with andouille. It was filling but not overwhelming. Very flavorful. The coffee comes in tall cups. Limited parking in a free lot. read more

Went for a last breakfast before we left the Smokies. Beautiful ambiance with two levels and also patio seating on the upper level. The steep staircase was not optimal for me, but I wanted to see the view so took my chances. lol Our server came over and took our drink order while we checked out the menu. There is a varied selection of breakfast and lunch items. I opted for one of the Benedict variations. Very tasty! My companion had a classic scrambled eggs, grits, toast and bacon. Also done well. This is an attractive restaurant, open floor plan, huge windows, outdoor patio. Located at the base of a mountain, nice. There's adequate parking space available. We arrived and were put on a waiting list and given an approximate time for our table. After a bit we were called before the given time. We were seated on the upper level, and greeted by our server. We wanted brunch after a great hike in the park and, as always, consulted Yelp for the best in our area. Thankfully Mountain Breakfast was recommended. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience including a black bear sighting in the creek below the balcony. Kara, our server, was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. We each got tasty Bloody Marys- mine all the way with bacon, shrimp, pickles and olives along with the standard celery. Brunch for me was the crab cake benny. I'm from the Chesapeake / Delaware Bay region so crab cakes are either good or bad; these were great! Very little filler, lots of yummy meat and seasoned to perfection. The home fries were sliced nice and thin and cooked golden brown. Hubby got a bowl featuring pulled pork, potatoes and perfectly cooked over medium eggs. He was real happy with his choice. How I ended up at this restaurant: I love to eat at restaurants off the beaten path, and Mountain Breakfast is not on the 'main street' of Gatlinburg. I scoured the internet, looking for something different and came across a review by a food critic of sorts who was recommending this place, but not in his 'official' capacity. I'm happy to try new places. So I went. The location/venue: not far from the main drag, easy to get to and ample parking if you get there early. It looks like the place uses the parking lot of a hotel/motel, and the location has a hint of an old hotel lobby. Automatic sliding doors walking into the place tipped me off. But hey, no big deal. I'm there for a good breakfast. But there is no charm to the inside of this place, unlike what the reviewer said. I sat outside, as it was nice to have water sounds in the background. Side note on bathroom... not sure how you have a bathroom without a place to put a purse... no hooks. And it's right next to the kitchen entrance... so you have to be careful about the staff whizzing in and out the kitchen door unpin exiting. The food: the reviewer was right. Good coffee. Not the stuff that sat on a burner for hours. Fantastic. But I only got one cup bc my waitress didn't pay much attention to me. Pancake was good; but I bet it would have been better had it been hot. (Like I said, I think they forgot about me ... as it took nearly 25 minutes for my food, and it was room temp.) anyways, They use sweet cream... so you don't need syrup. (Thank goodness... because the waitress didn't bring the syrup until I was almost done eating my pancake.) The Buckwheat Bowl was mediocre. Bland/no taste. They forgot to put feta in it (which would have added flavor), and I'm pretty sure they used bacon bits for the bacon. Hugely disappointing. The service. My waitress was friendly..but again, she forgot about me and my food. No condiments, no silverware, no refill on the coffee. She literally said as I was paying the check that she forgot to give me condiments. Yep. Conclusion: I love breakfast. I can have it any time of day. Just make it good. Unfortunately, this place did not make the grade. It was not a great eating experience. Even the staff said nothing as I walked out the door, and I had not complained at all. I understand this place just opened in May 2026. If this is how it operates today as a new restaurant, competing with places like Pancake Pantry, it's not going to survive. If you decide to be a patron, I hope you have a better experience than I did. And I hope the ownership is able to make the necessary changes because owning and running a restaurant is hard. read more

I saw (Adventure Is Out There)'s YouTube video on this restaurant and we put this place on our agenda. We sat on the patio next to the stream that runs along side the seating area. The waitress was very friendly and had some suggestions. I had the meat lovers omelet with fried potatoes and an order of fried green tomatoes. They had their special topping on them which gave them a little spice, very mild barely noticeable. Hard to describe but I liked it. The tomatoes had a batter coating that was like my mother's recipe. They were lightly coated with homemade batter not like so many places that buy them frozen and dipped in a thick breading. The omelet was good and large with a lot of meat and some cheese. I could have used more cheese. The potatoes were fried to perfection with a good combination of crispy and soft potatoes. My wife had the waffle and potatoes and it was very good. She ate half of the waffle and I ate the other half the next morning. Still good! We'll do it again on our next trip to the area. read more

Ordered a ham and cheese omelette. just ham and cheese but got a weird onion, mushroom, and truffle oil omelette. My fault, I wasn't specific enough since they had ham and Swiss cheese on the menu. Nevertheless I tried it, and it was terrible. Just awful. Thankfully I was able to change the taste with my side of burnt bacon. You would think the waitress would have noticed I didn't touch the omelette but she said nothing, also surprised she served that bacon. There was something for everyone, our food was fresh, well prepared and still hot when we received it.(Quite a feat for any restaurant.) Judy, our server, was sweet, professional and attentive. It wasn't until after eating that we learned the restaurant had been open less than 1 month! It's very good and we recommend trying everything on the menu!
