This place probably has seen its better days, in the 80's it was probably something. The only thing that has changed since then are the prices Complimentary bread rolls were decent but would've been nice if they were served with our soup or salad course & not after. I had the ribeye it was a good size & cooked med as ordered. It only comes with 1 side I chose a boring baked potato. Wife had crab soup & scallops on a skewer, soup was Luke warm & scallops were tough & just drudged in butter. Others had potato skins as his meal, they had a dried cheese on them & not melty deliciousness. Oh my goodness, one of the best steaks I've ever experienced in a resturant "The Steak" 20oz of bliss (of course we shared). It was our 20 year anniversary and they seated us in the special space called " The love nook", what a delightful touch for those special occasions for two. Making the last stand here at the Alamo after battling a hike up to the highest point in Kuhowi, located in the Great Smoky mountains of Tennessee. Walked-in and only took less than 7 minutes to be seated as we had no reservations. For drinks, got the "Yeehaw" Cerveza and the Western Peach Tree. They were both alright and it was refreshing. Ordered the Prime Rib for $39 with Au Jus and paired it with Mushroom. It was really juicy and the right medium well but can't say the same for the NY Strip which was quite a bit dry, though still tasty. Excellent service from JJ as he was very attentive recommended the Brussell Sprouts which paired well with the meal. There are lots of TX history and photos inside and makes you feel like a cowboy in the Lone Star State :) read more

Plan ahead they have very long wait times the food and the service was outstanding. We had a larger party so we did have to wait a little bit longer. They quoted us an hour and a half, but the table was ready and 50 minutes. We started off with the crab dip and mozzarella sticks as appetizers, and they were finished very quickly. Everybody enjoyed them. To make my review a little more simple we had the kids state with mashed potatoes for the kids, and the adults had a variation of the different steaks. I'll cooked medium well along with mashed potatoes or baked potato. The meat selection was great. They had very tender and juicy meats that were easy to cut and not super chewy with great grilled seasoning. Felix was our waiter. He was on top of it, making sure that everybody had their drinks full that we had what we ordered in our order was correct and he waited on all of us all by himself. He was super kind and understanding This is decorated what I would describe as some light water decor. There were wood benches outside and a few other things on the wall, but it had a very clean organized look it wasn't overly cluttered. The restaurant was very clean. Ample parking at the top of hill and across the street in another restaurant's parking area. We were seated quickly. 5 in our party. The restraint was clean, open and well appointed for a Texas themed restaurant. We ordered seltzer water, tea, chocolate milk (our daughter threw it up about 5 hours later), and soda. We ordered potato skins, stuffed mushrooms, grilled pork chop meals, kids steak burger, & Santa Fe chicken. All was served to our specifications although it did take a bit even though it was not too busy. Our waitress was helpful, friendly and professional. Very impressed with this steakhouse! It's hard to choose a good place to eat in the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area. The steak was absolutely phenomenal with the combination and seasoning and grill method. Salmon was delicious as well and mashed potatoes were amazing! Decided last minute we would give this place a shot, well as expected on New Year's Eve the wait was a bit long (over an hour). The wait did not disappoint, our server was on us like white on rice, our drinks could not have been quicker as the came out with the fresh baked bread. Our calamari appetizer were ok. Our entrees were amazing (as told by everyone I asked). My wife had the stuffed shrimp (large portion) and I had the bone in ribeye (amazing). We had visited The Alamo a couple of years ago and had a wonderful experience. So this time we decided to take everyone. I know thanks to the waitress they were somewhat short-handed. We got there fairly early but there was still a wait. Our waitress seemed a bit hurried but was trying her best. I think they were just too understaffed for the crowds they get. One if the steaks wasn't cooked properly but she took it back without complaint and they refired it and the manager brought it back to the table to ensure it was correct this time. Everything just took longer and seemed a bit more addled than you expect when paying these prices. My steak and baked potato was good but the service was lacking but I don't fault the waitress. The ribeye was barely cooked and very rare. The T bone, only had meat on one side of the bone and was cooked well done. The brussels were just smooshy and oily. Here's a tip - if it's busy and crowded, call ahead and order your meal to go and get there a few minutes before they tell you it'll be ready. Then take your meal to your cabin, hotel, or wherever and enjoy it there. That's what we did. They packed the items nicely and they traveled well to our cottage. We ordered several appetizers and the prime rib dinner. It also came with four rolls and a sweet butter in the to-go bag. Wedge Salad: My husband loves a wedge salad and orders one everywhere he can. He liked the Alamo wedge a lot. Horseradish-Parmesan Prime Rib Strips - these were interesting. The menu says they are crusted, but the strips of prime rib are coated in a creamy horseradish sauce - there's no crust to speak of. Not what we were expecting, but tasty nonetheless. Hot Crab Dip - good flavor, but nothing notable; about what you'd expect from a place that's not known for crab. The pita wedges were a cross between bread and chips. Prime Rib - a little fatty, but not outside of what you'd expect for a prime rib. It's a generous portion and comes with a good amount of au jus and also horseradish sauce on the side. If you're taking it to go, order one temp lower than you like so the residual heat doesn't make your meat overdone (if you want it medium, order medium rare so it'll be medium when you get to wherever you are eating.) read more

We have been avoiding the Alamo for years based on reviews. I wish we had gone sooner. I wanted a steak for dinner on our last night in town. I didn't want to drive back into Gatlinburg to our usual spot so we went to The Alamo. I got "the steak" with sautéed onions and a baked sweet potato. It was so tender and flavorful! Had we not been in public, I would have gnawed on that bone! The hubby got the burger and it was huge! There was no way he could eat it all. Our server was fabulous. Attentive and professional. The only negative was where we sat. It was very cold that night (it had been snowing all day) and we had windows behind the hubby and to one side. The cold coming through the window was very uncomfortable. It was very busy so another table was not an option. Still, we will return! read more

Visiting from out of state and we needed a place for dinner. We were thrilled to hear that casual attire was appropriate. We were seated promptly, both booths and tables are available. House salads were delicious and fresh. My husband had the apple cider vinaigrette dressing, which is house made, and delicious. He had the Santa Fe Chicken, which he left no crumb behind because he said it was that tasty. I had the stuffed shrimp, which was also tasty, although not quite "stuffed". Mediocre. I went here based on the reviews which Yelp Does not disappoint, but this was my first. I ordered a wedge and asked for it to be chopped and it was not and it was overloaded with bacon. I ordered the filet mignon and it was medium but no flavor whatsoever and I ordered the carrots as a side and it was mushy and not tasty. My overall experience was not a pleasant one. The positive was their biscuits and butter. If they messed that up, then it would've gotten a -0 rate. I am not a fan and would not return. In our decades of traveling to Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge, Alamo was one of the staple places that "you make time to get a good steak dinner". And it was good, with fresh food, and service that cared you were there, and an ambiance and energy about it. Our most recent trip was depressing. Our server was kind enough, but didn't check back with any frequency. The steaks weren't anything special. We get better food once a week at Texas Roadhouse for a third the cost, frankly. Whatever drink was supposed to be an old fashioned, was a sugar packet and jack Daniel's near as I can tell, for the price of a small bottle of Woodford. I'm disappointed to see this staple slip into mediocrity, but we certainly aren't in any hurry to add them back to the list again, after our most recent experience. read more

My wife and I visited on Valentine's Day 2025. This place was highly recommended by a "local" on TikTok as one of the best places to eat when visiting. The restaurant was a nice size with good spacing between tables, cozy but not private. The menu is beef centric with a dabbling of additional items like shrimp and fish. I was getting excited seeing as though we have been let down several times by "locals" and people that visited here or there and "you gotta tryums". Steak, medium rare, a side of brussel sprouts and a salad, easy, so I thought. Without going into too much detail, the steak looked parboiled then placed on a hot grate to finish. (photos to conceptualize) Needless to say I returned the dish and asked for it to not be replaced. A manager somewhere took it off the bill, we paid the balance and left. We wanted a nice steak dinner while in Pigeon Forge and thought Alamo looked like a good place. We had a 45 minute wait so that gave me even more encouragement that it was going to be great. Our server, Darcy, did a great job of taking care of us. They did not have a bartender working when we first got there so he made our drinks. I only got a beer but Mindy got an Old Fashioned and it was really good. I ordered the big ribeye and we were going to split it. I ordered it medium rare woth a baked potato with cheese, butter and bacon only. When the food arrived; it looked great (see the pictures). It had the Medium Rare marker on it so I knew Darcy had ordered it correctly. It tasted decent but was on the high side of medium well (barely any pink). I don't like sending food back - I have seen the movie Waiting LOL but this was an expensive steak so I reluctantly asked for a better one as well as a new potato. The first one had sour cream and no butter (I hate sour cream). When the second steak came out, it was on the high side of medium but I was not going to to send it back again. It was less flavorful than the first one but I ate it anyway. Overall, the best part of this dining experience was the service. The rest was moderate at best. Maybe it was a bad night, but that should not matter. If you want to try it, roll the dice and see what you get. read more

So I don't normally like posting negative reviews right away, but. I feel as this should be noted and help someone. We arrived there and I inform them of my Mother having a Black Pepper allergy. Well, after informing the waitress, she states that she will have to inform her manager, so they can take the order. Seemed a little weird too me, but okay. Well, never got silverware when we were seated right away took about 25 minutes. We ordered our drinks, and went on. Surveying the menu the Waitress brings another menu for allergies only. Then walks away before we could ask questions. Then the waitress came back with the manager, and we asked the manager, "Can you season the steak with just garlic butter?" The manager replies, "No, it's all mixed into one, and we dip our steaks into it. So it would get cross contamination." My mother got upset, like anyone possible would. I ask for more time. During this process, my drink had been sitting almost empty for about 20 minutes by this time. I feel as though our server felt like we were not top priority enough for her. Well, the server comes back and takes mine, and my friends order, and doesn't even ask my mother if she wants anything and just takes off. That right there demonstrated to me that we weren't any importance to her. I get bad days and busy days. Well, my food arrives out along with my buddies.... and my sandwich was cold, and my fries had nothing to them, almost bad taste on time... no taste at all. My buddy can not see, because he has no eyes. But judging from his steak he ordered... it didn't look like no 8oz Filot to me.
