Came here for dinner, did a last minute booking and got in. Our server was very nice and the manager was extremely sweet. We were given a river side seating which was rare, it was perfect for the event as we were celebrating a bday. They had a lighting issue so most of the customers were shifted to their other sister restaurant. the portion sizes are big. We first ordered the shrimp appetizer. Their breads were amazing and the butter - outstanding! We had the menu of that weekend and the seafood was freshly flown in that morning. It was outstanding.. The jumbo baked oysters were just amazing. The baked crab dish as an appetizer was soo much better than the mains though! The drinks were amazing as well. the old fashioned, the non alcoholic rosemary blueberry spritz. The brussel sprouts were one of the best ever tried. Do not miss out on the baked crab dish!

This place is such a quality high end restaurant in Gatlinburg. The service is always 5 stars and the food matches. The bartender can make anything and our white sangrias were fabulous. I ordered the red snapper special with an Alfredo sauce and lobster ravioli. The sauce was light and complemented the fish perfectly. My granddaughter ordered the salmon special and loved it. My grandson's both got the filets and they were cooked perfectly. We will always choose this spot when we're in town.

My family came here for my birthday and I was very impressed with how well they accommodated us. We tried to book ahead of time because we know things fill up during the holidays as well as it being a weekend. Unfortunately we got our days mixed up and our reservation was the following day. However the hostess told us it was not an issue and still seated us right away moving our booking to the correct day. The food came out in a timely manner and our server was very helpful as well. I ordered the seafood lasagna and it was very flavorful. Personally if I were to come back, I'd order another dish that was more filling. The server raved about how good it was and she was correct. It did have a lot of flavor to it. However it lacked seafood in the shells. At some points, I felt as though I was only eating shells and sauce with tomatoes unfortunately. Upon finishing our meal, unfortunately my father became ill after sipping water and going down the wrong pipe. We were so embarrassed seeing as though we were sitting in the middle of everyone dining. However the staff were so kind resulting us that it wasn't the first and dropping everything they were doing to tend to us with wet napkins and checking on my father. While we were deeply embarrassed, it really meant a lot to us that you all made us your priority in that moment and I greatly appreciate you alls service!

Exquisite service. Beautiful atmosphere. Delicious and filling food. They hit the trifecta, and I was so happy that we'd saved this place to visit on our last full day in Gatlinburg. It was difficult to find parking, but I rang the restaurant and was directed towards two nearby parking garages that were within walking distance. We were seated at a beautiful table with a view of the river. It was everything that I wanted for a romantic evening with my husband. They provided us with an assortment of breads to choose from. I was a fan of the muffin and my husband of the croissant. We sheepishly asked for more. We both started with the crab bisque, and it was delicious. For our entrees, I ordered the Baked Crab Dip starter as mine and my husband ordered the Broiled Seafood Platter. Both of our meals came with so much food...and honestly, we were pretty full after the soup and bread! We had plenty of leftovers to get us through the night as we prepared to leave town. Everything was so decadent and plated so beautifully. Our server was attentive, and we didn't have to wait long for our food. I'd definitely suggest that you make reservations. We did and this place comes highly recommended as one of the area's top restaurants.

Another great visit. This is our favorite restaurant in Gatlinburg and a must do. Absolutely loved the crab stuff grouper, the crab cake and the oyster sampler. Highly recommend and will continue to return.

So of course this place is going to be good . . . their seafood comes from my home state! To say I love seafood is an understatement. My eyes zeroed in on the Broiled Seafood Platter containing cod, scallops, shrimp, and Maryland Crab Cake. Chesapeake did not disappoint. My plate was full and abundant! Everything was perfectly prepared. Service: Fantastic and attentive. Our server realized we were from out of town and offered a nice suggestion to visit Cade's Cove the next day. Much appreciated! Bathrooms: Needed attention. One stall was broken and one needed to have the doors shut and possibly in disrepair as well. Not a pleasant sight after a wonderful meal.

    The ambience is quite nice

As soon as I walked in the door, the aroma made me very excited to try this place. We had been to Anakeesta for nine hours and just wanted a quick bite before we return to her hotel. Honestly, we just came in for a cocktail and some soup. But I have reading the reviews of the Maryland crabcakes I thought I'd give them a try. I'm very familiar with Marilyn crabcakes I live near the Chesapeake Bay for years. I have my own special recipe as well. I was not deaf disappointed. I wish we hadn't been eating all day long at the park for we really have enjoyed a full meal here. Services exceptional music is fitting for the setting. Nina was equally as helpful when my friend spilled water and we did not realize how much had drained under the table. Nina cleaned up our mess, quite quickly with a smile on her face and asked if she could do anything else for us. The service here is outstanding! Will definitely come back next time we're in town and have a full meal.

Drove from Indy to Gatlinburg, when we arrived, we were famished. We started looking for a place to eat using Yelp search as we drive thru Knoxville. We landed on Chesapeakes. Love Gatlinburg, not a big fan of their parking. We sat at the bar though plenty of seating was available. It seemed to have a fun vibe. I don't recall her name, but the bartender was exceptional. My wife had the oysters Rockefeller and the lobster tail; she loved both. She liked it so much, we went there again the next day. I had crab cakes with the spanich. Both items were exceptional. The lump crab cakes were the best I've had outside cakes in the Chesapeake Bay Area. We like to frequent Gatlinburg, this will be one of our must visit places when we go!!!

    Ask the Community - Chesapeake’s

    Do they have parking?

Unfortunately they do not have a dedicated parking lot or valet. There is a pod parking lot next door to them but it is not owned by them. You can also Uber or walk over if you don't want to park in the paid parking lot.

Is it toddler friendly and is there a private dining room?

Yes bringing a toddler would be fine. I did not see a private dining area.

How authentic are the MD crab cakes? I'm from MD and am very particular about how they're prepared.

They are Maryland style, mostly lump crab, no filler and a sprinkle of old bay on top.

    Is it pet friendly?

    Nope

    Are they opening on thanksgiving?

Yes, they are open on Thanksgiving. It was not usual menu but good. Also, they do not open until 1 p.m.

    Is there a kids menu?

I know it's too late but I want others to know, yes! I really good one!

Will there be a special Christmas menu?

No, they do have daily specials.

You need reservations; if you don't have them, you risk getting turned away. It's a husband and wife running the entire place. No extra help. They want you to stay and relax and enjoy everything. We only stayed 90 minutes and they tried to get us to stay longer. Like all the reviews say, it's a very European experience. We've never experienced anything like it. We started with an old fashioned and a margarita from the daily cocktail menu. Olga welcomed us with a hug and took us to our table. She didn't stay out long because she is the chef! But it was still cool to interact with her in the beginning. Both her and her husband made us feel like family. It started pouring and he walked outside with an umbrella and held it for 2 girls at the bar. I thought that was super sweet. We ordered the salmon roe caviar and it was divine. Our second course was the oyster flatbread and I ended up being sad I was sharing it. It was that good!!!!! We were pretty full at this point after a couple more drinks. They were really busy too, so we decided to go ahead and get the check. It started raining right after we got our check, so we ended up getting one more drink to wait it out. We had the best time and can't wait to come back!

While we were walking the Arts and Crafts Loop near Gatlinburg (I HIGHLY recommend this as well), we noticed this wonderful-looking restaurant nestled away in the green forested hills across the street. We opted to come back here for dinner on our last night in the Great Smokey Mountains. Sooooo glad we did! Owned and operated by a European couple, the Red Oak has the ambiance of a quaint European restaurant that one would find tucked away in the Alps. While the inside atmosphere is wonderful, we chose to sit outside to enjoy the very quiet and beautiful forested hills of Gatlinburg. Service was incredible and very European - they told us they would not bother us unless we asked for something and that the table was ours for the evening. Yep...we stayed there for three hours, sipping our wine and trying various dishes of exquisite flavor. I'd like to say try this or try that, but to be honest: all the dishes we tried were absolutely phenomenal. We cannot wait to try this place again!

THis one has a story behind it. Got invited to a drum circle in Gatrlinburg by my girlfriend's son…read more We went out that morning to see Cades Cover (big mistake - it was Memorial Day) and swung back around through Townsend (stopped at Mountain Man to have a craft brew on the way). Knowing we were going up to the arts district, I looked for a place to meet them before the circle and saw there was a Celtic Pub. Only that was the spot where the drum circle was. And, to my surprise, it is the same owner as the Fox & Parrot Tavern in Gatlinburg, one of my favorite English pubs (and currently closed do to a feud with the US government - hope that gets fixed). The place is definitely British country feeling. Very nice tap list, including both local brews and standard UK brews. Heavy wood feeling with a very nice deck outside, which includes some spots under cover (which was important as it rained on the circle and people had to duck in). There is nothing elegant about the place or the food. But that is its charm. The fish & chips were on point, esp. with the malt vinegar. Shepherd's Pie a bit salty for my tastes, but not to the salt lick level. Also came with chips. As for the drum circle, if you are reading this in June 2026, that is every Monday at 6-8 PM through the end of the month. I got some great drone footage of the circle, which I added to this review.

I would never come here if I was in a hurry, but if you have 2+ hours to eat and want good food in a storied place with staff who will treat you like friends, you're going to love the Rampant Lion. NOTES: -In rural TN, it should not surprise you, but be aware that they have Trump displays in the restaurant. -The restrooms are single stall and accessed from outdoor. They're indoor restrooms - just the door to access them is on the outside. (No porta potties) They're solidly clean - just make sure to pack clothing that works for the temperature outside because you might be dipping outside a few times. -Parking lot is small and gravel. Relatively easy to get in and out of though. -Amazing gin selection with staff that *clearly* knows their gins. -Adorable photos of the owners on slideshow of their trip to Europe on the wall. It's adorably and clearly a couple who was on a good vacation. We've had a good chunk of their menu at this point. Pretzels: Delicious beer chese AND delicious pretzels. Quite a bit of food with this too. Bread, Oil, & Vinegar: Wasn't super fond of this one. A ton of oil in a bowl made it hard to get the right oil-to-vinegar ratio. Chicken Pie: Deliciously breaded with super-tasty french fries too. Served piping hot, so it took a bit to be able to eat it without burning myself but a wait well-made. Reuben: Partner absolutely loved it and said the bread was the absolute perfect consistency. SO much meat in there too (though he said it could use a bit of extra dressing). Bubbles and Squeak: Delicious. Just delicious. Zero notes, you should eat it. Beanie Weenies: Home-made right in the restaurant! My favorite thing on the menu. Super savory, semi-healthy (beans...at least?), and served super warm. Comfort food at its finest. Menu in-restaurant was different than online one on a few things.
