Came here for dinner, did a last minute booking and got in. Our server was very nice and the manager was extremely sweet. We were given a river side seating which was rare, it was perfect for the event as we were celebrating a bday. They had a lighting issue so most of the customers were shifted to their other sister restaurant. the portion sizes are big. We first ordered the shrimp appetizer. Their breads were amazing and the butter - outstanding! We had the menu of that weekend and the seafood was freshly flown in that morning. It was outstanding.. The jumbo baked oysters were just amazing. The baked crab dish as an appetizer was soo much better than the mains though! The drinks were amazing as well. the old fashioned, the non alcoholic rosemary blueberry spritz. The brussel sprouts were one of the best ever tried. Do not miss out on the baked crab dish!

Another great visit. This is our favorite restaurant in Gatlinburg and a must do. Absolutely loved the crab stuff grouper, the crab cake and the oyster sampler. Highly recommend and will continue to return.

Exquisite service. Beautiful atmosphere. Delicious and filling food. They hit the trifecta, and I was so happy that we'd saved this place to visit on our last full day in Gatlinburg. It was difficult to find parking, but I rang the restaurant and was directed towards two nearby parking garages that were within walking distance. We were seated at a beautiful table with a view of the river. It was everything that I wanted for a romantic evening with my husband. They provided us with an assortment of breads to choose from. I was a fan of the muffin and my husband of the croissant. We sheepishly asked for more. We both started with the crab bisque, and it was delicious. For our entrees, I ordered the Baked Crab Dip starter as mine and my husband ordered the Broiled Seafood Platter. Both of our meals came with so much food...and honestly, we were pretty full after the soup and bread! We had plenty of leftovers to get us through the night as we prepared to leave town. Everything was so decadent and plated so beautifully. Our server was attentive, and we didn't have to wait long for our food. I'd definitely suggest that you make reservations. We did and this place comes highly recommended as one of the area's top restaurants.

As soon as I walked in the door, the aroma made me very excited to try this place. We had been to Anakeesta for nine hours and just wanted a quick bite before we return to her hotel. Honestly, we just came in for a cocktail and some soup. But I have reading the reviews of the Maryland crabcakes I thought I'd give them a try. I'm very familiar with Marilyn crabcakes I live near the Chesapeake Bay for years. I have my own special recipe as well. I was not deaf disappointed. I wish we hadn't been eating all day long at the park for we really have enjoyed a full meal here. Services exceptional music is fitting for the setting. Nina was equally as helpful when my friend spilled water and we did not realize how much had drained under the table. Nina cleaned up our mess, quite quickly with a smile on her face and asked if she could do anything else for us. The service here is outstanding! Will definitely come back next time we're in town and have a full meal.

The dining experience here was a 10/10 for my family & I. We had all apps and it was plenty! We ordered oysters (x2), the crab bisque (x2), the crab stuffed mushrooms, ahí tuna (x2) & the calamari...we never made it to ordering actual entrees! lol Our server, Brent, was fantastic. Great with our kids & made the best drinks (we sat at one of the booths by the bar...highly recommend!) Ambiance was great. It was a breath of fresh air & great alternative to all the fried foods served in the area. If we ever come back to TN, this is a place I'd definitely come back to.

So of course this place is going to be good . . . their seafood comes from my home state! To say I love seafood is an understatement. My eyes zeroed in on the Broiled Seafood Platter containing cod, scallops, shrimp, and Maryland Crab Cake. Chesapeake did not disappoint. My plate was full and abundant! Everything was perfectly prepared. Service: Fantastic and attentive. Our server realized we were from out of town and offered a nice suggestion to visit Cade's Cove the next day. Much appreciated! Bathrooms: Needed attention. One stall was broken and one needed to have the doors shut and possibly in disrepair as well. Not a pleasant sight after a wonderful meal.

Drove from Indy to Gatlinburg, when we arrived, we were famished. We started looking for a place to eat using Yelp search as we drive thru Knoxville. We landed on Chesapeakes. Love Gatlinburg, not a big fan of their parking. We sat at the bar though plenty of seating was available. It seemed to have a fun vibe. I don't recall her name, but the bartender was exceptional. My wife had the oysters Rockefeller and the lobster tail; she loved both. She liked it so much, we went there again the next day. I had crab cakes with the spanich. Both items were exceptional. The lump crab cakes were the best I've had outside cakes in the Chesapeake Bay Area. We like to frequent Gatlinburg, this will be one of our must visit places when we go!!!

I been wanting to try this spot out since it was right next to the hotel that I was staying at. Upon arrival, luckily we were able to secure a nice river front booth as it was super busy. I highly recommend a reservation if your coming here. We started out with the Calamari appetizer which came in a generous portion and highly delicious. It came with marinara and mustard sauce. It also came with complimentary bread and muffins with butter. We also ordered the cooked Oyster sampler which included 6 oysters with different variety of flavors. They were all tasty and I highly recommend this platter. I been wanting a nice juicy steak so I ordered the New York strip. I opted for the loaded bake potato side. Let me tell you that this is one of the best steaks that I have ever tasted in my life. It was cooked to perfection with crispy sides. The center was juicy and not dry. The flavor was on point and whoever cooked it deserves to get a raise. The portion was huge and filling. The loaded bake potato side was not bad either. We also ordered the Crab Cake sandwich which was very tasty especially with a ton of crab meat inside. The little one got his kids meal (chicken tenders/fries). Waiter service was not bad as he had a ton of tables to attend to. I highly recommend this place if your staying in the area and want some good steak or seafood! I can't wait to come back again when I am in town!!

Would i go back for maybe the water, outside ambiance & a bottle of wine? Sure thing! I just don't think we ordered correctly. Outside of the dinner tray the bread was very well made & the lobster bisque was yummy! Oysters were eh. Would not order again & the waitress was nice enough to accommodate us & take it off our tab without us complaining or having to ask!! She only knew we didn't care for it because we left it on the table. It's a nice restaurant, great customer service! The food was just okay for us! We were in town for my son's basketball tournament & decided let's do dinner & this place had a pretty scenery in the back room!

This restaurant was so good. We made reservations for 2pm so we were the first guests. The restaurant has nice aesthetics. We also had a very nice waitress. She was helpful and personable. Unfortunately, I don't recall her name but she may have been British; nevertheless she was very kind. She was also helpful with her recommendations. I had a menu special which was red snapper, my son had crab cakes and my husband had his filet butterflied for the first time and he absolutely loved it. We are in this area each year, but this was our first time here. We will definitely put this in our rotation each year going forward.

Food, service, atmosphere were all spot on. I had the broiled seafood platter and everything on it was delicious. Crab cake, scallops, shrimp and fish were perfectly prepared and a side of spinach Maria to top it off. Finished with a piece of Slower Delaware Pie and I was one happy customer.

Is it toddler friendly and is there a private dining room?

Yes bringing a toddler would be fine. I did not see a private dining area.

How authentic are the MD crab cakes? I'm from MD and am very particular about how they're prepared.

They are Maryland style, mostly lump crab, no filler and a sprinkle of old bay on top.

    Is it pet friendly?

    Nope

    Are they opening on thanksgiving?

Yes, they are open on Thanksgiving. It was not usual menu but good. Also, they do not open until 1 p.m.

    Is there a kids menu?

I know it's too late but I want others to know, yes! I really good one!

Will there be a special Christmas menu?

No, they do have daily specials.

I would never come here if I was in a hurry, but if you have 2+ hours to eat and want good food in a storied place with staff who will treat you like friends, you're going to love the Rampant Lion. NOTES: -In rural TN, it should not surprise you, but be aware that they have Trump displays in the restaurant. -The restrooms are single stall and accessed from outdoor. They're indoor restrooms - just the door to access them is on the outside. (No porta potties) They're solidly clean - just make sure to pack clothing that works for the temperature outside because you might be dipping outside a few times. -Parking lot is small and gravel. Relatively easy to get in and out of though. -Amazing gin selection with staff that *clearly* knows their gins. -Adorable photos of the owners on slideshow of their trip to Europe on the wall. It's adorably and clearly a couple who was on a good vacation. We've had a good chunk of their menu at this point. Pretzels: Delicious beer chese AND delicious pretzels. Quite a bit of food with this too. Bread, Oil, & Vinegar: Wasn't super fond of this one. A ton of oil in a bowl made it hard to get the right oil-to-vinegar ratio. Chicken Pie: Deliciously breaded with super-tasty french fries too. Served piping hot, so it took a bit to be able to eat it without burning myself but a wait well-made. Reuben: Partner absolutely loved it and said the bread was the absolute perfect consistency. SO much meat in there too (though he said it could use a bit of extra dressing). Bubbles and Squeak: Delicious. Just delicious. Zero notes, you should eat it. Beanie Weenies: Home-made right in the restaurant! My favorite thing on the menu. Super savory, semi-healthy (beans...at least?), and served super warm. Comfort food at its finest. Menu in-restaurant was different than online one on a few things.

Our table provided a scenic overlook through the trees. I wish that I remembered our waiter's name, but he was phenomenal and extremely knowledgeable. (I do remember he was from Southern Indiana). My wife had the petit 7-ounce filet (wet-aged Iowa Premium USDA beef tenderloin, center cut, fresh-cracked black pepper and kosher salt) and a Caesar Salad. Her steak was cooked perfectly and she really enjoyed her Caesar salad and the twice baked potato as her side. I had the New York Strip (dry-aged Iowa Premium USDA prime short loin with the bone. Fresh-cracked black pepper and kosher salt), and a chopped salad (chopped baby greens, tomato, pickled onion, artichokes, cucumbers, hard boiled eggs and citrus herb vinaigrette.) The steak melted in your mouth and the salad was fresh with a delicious citrus herb vinaigrette dressing. My side was the asparagus which again, was very delicious and cooked perfectly (I could have had another serving!) They also served some very tasty hot and buttery spoon bread which was very close to the original recipe that was created near my home in Berea, KY. Between the salad and the main course, we were served a lemon sorbet as a pallet cleanser. For dessert, my wife had the crème brûlée and I had the butterscotch budino. Both were very tasty, but personally for me, the butterscotch budino was a tad better -- but you cannot go wrong with either. We don't drink, but there was a great wine menu and over 100 different bourbon selections. We will definitely return again. Reservations are highly recommended!
