Chesapeake's is a nice place! At the end of the Gatlinburg strip, it is busy without the chaos. Parking is available in nearby lots or use a hotel shuttle. We had a reservation and were seated within 5 minutes. The restaurant is spacious but has an intimate feel. The service is on game, professional, warm and friendly. The were a lot of great options to choose from. The fish is tasty as are the sides. Dessert was delightful as well. They do have fresh lobster if that's your game. The place was packed, but even with how busy it was, we were seated within five minutes of our reservation time. Our server was friendly, attentive, and did a great job throughout the meal. Let's start with the parking situation, there's no dedicated parking, so be prepared to park in a garage about a 7-minute walk away, which cost us $15. Not the best start to the evening. As for the food, it was honestly pretty underwhelming considering how hyped this place is. The crab dip was okay, nothing memorable. The steak and lobster was disappointing- the lobster had that soft texture that overcooked or not-so-fresh crawfish can have. The baked shrimp wasn't bad, but definitely not something I'd order again. Strawberry shortcake was decent enough. Ironically, the bread basket ended up being my favorite part of the meal-absolutely delicious. The service, however, was genuinely warm and hospitable. It was a bit slow, but the staff was kind, friendly, and personable enough that it made up for it. That was honestly the highlight of the experience. Seafood in Gatlingburg? Yup! Chesapeake's is a very attractive restaurant with a nice large bar. Take the red line trolly & get off the Anakeesta stop. Walk @ 2 blocks make a left and it's 1/2 a block down. Away from the crowds of downtown. Inside the restaurant I was pleasantly surprised to see it nicely appointed. There are tables & booths able to accommodate small & larger parties. The menu was quite large with lots of seafood options. Our server brought over a large bread basket with croissants & muffins. I appreciated the nice cloth napkins especially when I decided to order the whole main lobster. Most entrees come with one side. ( it's a large list of sides). My husband ordered the scallops with house made side of a potato billed as twice baked type thing that came in a ramekin. We both had soup to start. I had the crab bisque. It was excellent with chunks of crab. My husband had a type gumbo and loved it. Back to the entrees- My lobster was very good and cooked right. After much discussion with the server about if I wanted it cracked open or not (when I ordered ) I asked for it to be split open. I guess I wasn't clear. It was not opened. In his defense he did ask when he brought it over if it was ok. I said yes. The scallops were grilled but very small, not Bay scallops but small Sea scallops. He said they were good. If I could give this place 10 stars I would!!! We haven't had dinner this good in a long time at a restaurant!! It was the perfect choice for our anniversary dinner. My husband made reservations and asked for a table by the windows so that we would have a view of the river which was so cool. I highly recommend doing that! You can even see it at night time because they have light shining on it. Our server was really cool and very nice. We really enjoyed her. She gave great food recommendations! We ordered the crab dip and the oyster sampler which had three different types of baked oysters. For dinner, I ordered the salmon and veggie plate and my husband ordered steak and potatoes... and the dessert was AMAZING. We both absolutely loved everything that came to the table. They feature fresh fish and seafood, all prepared simply, elegantly, and deliciously! I enjoyed amberjack with a side of tender crisp broccoli. Diners are given their choice of sides. We were quoted a 75-90 minute wait and agreed to wait. At the 75-minute mark, we checked in and were told two reservations were ahead of us. At 90 minutes, we were told it would be another 10-15 minutes because the kitchen and host needed time to catch up. We understood and waited. We were hungry, patient, and kind to everyone we spoke with, but we didn't receive the same courtesy in return. When we reached two hours, we tried to check in again and got no response. Meanwhile, two smaller parties arrived, were apologized to, and were seated within about 15 minutes. We left without ever being seated, and 2.5 hours later we still hadn't received a message that our table was ready. After a certain point, the treatment felt intentional. I hope race had nothing to do with it, but as a Black woman, being ignored while other guests were promptly reassured and seated left me wondering. The long wait was frustrating; the lack of communication and dismissive treatment made it worse. We wish they had been honest about the wait so we could make an informed choice instead of spending two hours waiting and leaving without being served. My family came here for my birthday and I was very impressed with how well they accommodated us. We tried to book ahead of time because we know things fill up during the holidays as well as it being a weekend. Unfortunately we got our days mixed up and our reservation was the following day. However the hostess told us it was not an issue and still seated us right away moving our booking to the correct day. The food came out in a timely manner and our server was very helpful as well. I ordered the seafood lasagna and it was very flavorful. Personally if I were to come back, I'd order another dish that was more filling. The server raved about how good it was and she was correct. It did have a lot of flavor to it. However it lacked seafood in the shells. At some points, I felt as though I was only eating shells and sauce with tomatoes unfortunately. Upon finishing our meal, unfortunately my father became ill after sipping water and going down the wrong pipe. We were so embarrassed seeing as though we were sitting in the middle of everyone dining. However the staff were so kind resulting us that it wasn't the first and dropping everything they were doing to tend to us with wet napkins and checking on my father. I knew this is a seafood place, but as soon as you walk in, it is way too fishy smelling. The food was excellent despite the smell the place was very clean. I would definitely put a vent over the fresh fish tank though if it was me. I have the platter which had oysters that were excellent, the scallops were cooked to where they were like soft pillows, not rubbery like I get from other places. We were given a river side seating which was rare, it was perfect for the event as we were celebrating a bday. Exquisite service. Beautiful atmosphere. Delicious and filling food. They hit the trifecta, and I was so happy that we'd saved this place to visit on our last full day in Gatlinburg. It was difficult to find parking, but I rang the restaurant and was directed towards two nearby parking garages that were within walking distance. We were seated at a beautiful table with a view of the river. It was everything that I wanted for a romantic evening with my husband. They provided us with an assortment of breads to choose from. I was a fan of the muffin and my husband of the croissant. We sheepishly asked for more. We both started with the crab bisque, and it was delicious. This place is such a quality high end restaurant in Gatlinburg. The service is always 5 stars and the food matches. The bartender can make anything and our white sangrias were fabulous. I ordered the red snapper special with an Alfredo sauce and lobster ravioli. The sauce was light and complemented the fish perfectly. My granddaughter ordered the salmon special and loved it. So of course this place is going to be good . . . their seafood comes from my home state! To say I love seafood is an understatement. My eyes zeroed in on the Broiled Seafood Platter containing cod, scallops, shrimp, and Maryland Crab Cake. Chesapeake did not disappoint. My plate was full and abundant! As soon as I walked in the door, the aroma made me very excited to try this place. We had been to Anakeesta for nine hours and just wanted a quick bite before we return to her hotel. Honestly, we just came in for a cocktail and some soup. But I have reading the reviews of the Maryland crabcakes I thought I'd give them a try. I'm very familiar with Marilyn crabcakes I live near the Chesapeake Bay for years. I have my own special recipe as well. I was not deaf disappointed. Love Gatlinburg, not a big fan of their parking. We sat at the bar though plenty of seating was available. It seemed to have a fun vibe. I don't recall her name, but the bartender was exceptional. My wife had the oysters Rockefeller and the lobster tail; she loved both. She liked it so much, we went there again the next day. I had crab cakes with the spanich. Both items were exceptional. It was just okay. Nothing was bad, just not as good as it should be for the price and atmosphere which is more upscale. The best thing we had was the New York strip, (not seafood). The grilled sea scallops were also good. We go here every time we go to Gatlinburg. The seafood is always fresh, and they have great specials. It was close to Valentines Day, so we did have a reservation, which I would suggest any night. Although they were out of some sides, our waiter suggested other items. Service was very sloow.. waited 20 minutes for coffee because waitress said they had to brew both decaf and regular in the same pot. Couldn't they afford more than 1 coffee pot? I been wanting to try this spot out since it was right next to the hotel that I was staying at. Upon arrival, luckily we were able to secure a nice river front booth as it was super busy. I highly recommend a reservation if your coming here. We started out with the Calamari appetizer which came in a generous portion and highly delicious. It came with marinara and mustard sauce. It also came with complimentary bread and muffins with butter. We also ordered the cooked Oyster sampler which included 6 oysters with different variety of flavors. They were all tasty and I highly recommend this platter. I been wanting a nice juicy steak so I ordered the New York strip. I opted for the loaded bake potato side. Let me tell you that this is one of the best steaks that I have ever tasted in my life. It was cooked to perfection with crispy sides. The center was juicy and not dry. The flavor was on point and whoever cooked it deserves to get a raise. The portion was huge and filling. The loaded bake potato side was not bad either. We also ordered the Crab Cake sandwich which was very tasty especially with a ton of crab meat inside. The little one got his kids meal (chicken tenders/fries). It wasn't too loud or quiet so that was nice and it was much appreciated they don't try to pack the restaurant with tables. We were sat and greeted within a couple of minutes and our waitress was extremely kind. My husband ordered the rainbow trout and oysters. The rainbow trout was okay but truly nothing special or outstanding about it flavor wise in our opinion. I ordered the 7oz filet and again, there was nothing special about it. We had a delectable crab bisque and Caesar salad for appetizers accompanied by succulent hot rolls. The main courses were lobster tails, crab cakes an an incredible Florida grouper in a red pepper sauce. We are from New York and have dined at many exquisite restaurants, but this one was surely one of the best. Overall a decent meal but I wasn't blown away by anything. We started with 6 raw oysters. I liked the duxbury oysters - very large and meaty with just the right amount of saltiness. Yum! They also tasted pretty fresh so kudos to them for making that happen in a landlocked state. I ordered the broiled seafood platter which was honestly kind of a letdown. All the seafood had a little bit of this browned panko breading on top, and honestly all of it tasted pretty bland. We asked our server twice for silverware set up for the table so we could butter our bread. We ordered the seafood tower for the table appetizer. It was brought without any accompaniments (crab cracker tools, vinegar, hot sauce, cocktail sauce & bowl for shells). We asked the server for the accompaniments and instead of crab cracker tools, he brought us a basket of cracker packets. We all laughed as we thought it was a joke. It was not. He could not eat the crabcake that came with it so we asked for extra of something else that was already included in the plate instead of the crab cake. He appeared very confused.
