If you are passing thru Sequim...do just that ...pass thru til you come to Carlsborg. Get yer fine self over to the Old Mill Cafe!!! We had a fantastic breakfast there today. Starting with coffees, we then plunged into their small Bloody Marys! They are delish ...no really delish ..as good as my own and I make a fine Mary!!! They taste like they are spiked with what tastes like fresh grated horseradish. Mr. Biscuits and Gravy had just that with a side of bacon. He proclaimed them Excellent! I devoured a 1/2 Dungeness-Spinach Benedict. It was the best Benedict I have ever tasted. Sorry Tom Douglas, you have been topped. The service is spot on and truly the food can't be beat. While yer at it...go smell the lavender fields!! read more

We had the most delicious meal at Old Mill Cafe. After hiking all day we were looking for some good food. Lots of places were closed so we decided to try this place out, and I'm SO glad we did! Had a very rustic charm to the exterior and interior which made for lots to look at. I ordered the special steak au Poire and it was AMAZING! The steak was cooked to perfection and tender. Baked potato was also delish. All 7 of us in our party loved or meals. We would recommend Reuben, french dip, fish & chips, and dungeress crab sandwich. Our waitress Megan was so attentive & friendly as well. The chef Chris also came out to ask about our food! Atmosphere, food & service were spectacular. Came here after trying to go to the Oak Table Cafe, which was closed due to staff shortages. Old Mill Cafe was also suffering from staff shortages during our visit. (Unfortunately that has been an issue because of covid and people leaving the restaurant industry). Due to the shortage and very full tables, our wait for food was close to an hour. Which was tough, but thankfully we had wifi and the food was delicious. Seriously, best breakfast we have had at a restaurant. The hotcakes are sweet and fluffy and the crab hollandaise was outstanding. Service was great and we will be back on our next visit. Please note, parking is tight and if you have an RV, there is street parking across the restaurant. read more

My husband loves stopping in for lunch when he's in the area on business. Today he took us there so we could also try the yummy food. We arrived on a Saturday at lunch and were seated immediately. The hostess and waitress were both very friendly. Their menu had a nice variety to pick from. Hubby ordered the Chicken Focaccia sandwich, which came with a side of fries. I got the clam chowder with a green salad. The kids had a burger with fries and mac and cheese from the kid's menu. Everything came out pretty quickly and we were all pleased with our food. Our only regret was not looking at the daily special board on our way in. We discovered some tasty sounding items that were not on the menu that we might have enjoyed. Oh wait...I also regretted not saving room for dessert because they all sounded and looked delicious!! Next time we'll save room!! New Owners. Our first and last visit was lunch today 6/15/23. It was pretty bad and crazy price. For example 2 cups of coffee $7.00. Really. I had the chorizo quesadilla lunch special. Sunday brunch is awesome! They have something for everyone! I enjoyed Dungeness crab-cakes with poached eggs and hollandaise. Crabcakes, awesome. Eggs, perfect. And hollandaise was light and creamy! Staff was friendly and the vibe is laid back and fun. Bloody Mary mix is house-made and packs a nice, spicy kick. If you love brunch and the Northwest, you'll love this place. read more

What a disappointment. Was really looking forward to a delicious relaxing dinner. New owner's have taken charge. First off, menu has changed and my favorites did not make the cut. Side salad arrived with wilted lettuce so slimy it should not have been served and if I was the cook would have thrown the whole bag out. Dinner arrived. husband's onion rings tasted like they were fried in old oil. Had the special beef burgundy advertised with carrots, mushrooms over Gnocci. Beef was mostly good ( some tough), sauce was good but there were a grand total of 1.5 mushrooms and one small bite of carrot, rest tasteless Gnocci. Unfortunately will not be returning read more

Our only complain would be the breakfast potatoes, they use to have the best Yukon gold fried potatoes with onions, but now they are over cooked and dry. I'm so disappointed in the Old Mill this evening. My parents live in the area and I come up every few months to visit them. My mother had reservations for their New Year's Eve dinner and as it was my last night in town for a while, this was meant to be a somewhat special dinner for us. Both my parents, myself, and other family members have been here a few times before and had always loved the food and service but tonight was short of a complete disaster and extreme disappointment. We arrived on time for our reservation and the wait staff wasn't friendly or welcoming at all. They seemed to be running around like a chicken with its head cut off. We were seated at our table and was met by a very nice young lady who went over the specials for the evening. I will hand it to her, she really tried her best and this review isn't about her. Dinner took an hour! To arrive and when we received it, the meal was cold.... we're talking fresh out of refrigerator cold. The two things of meat were the smallest items we had ever seen, and come to find out later. They had run out of the items and gave our table the "left overs". I will say, the wait staff was disappointing and we never saw the same person twice. Always someone new.... We explained what was going on and I will say the young lady who was helping us understood and advised "she was really sorry and also upset" by the service we had received. I guess there were a few other tables after us that had also had crappy food too. The wait staff advised the kitchen didn't order enough food for the event, but they did try and make it up by comping around 60 dollars off our tab as well as a free desert. All in all, I don't think they were able to handle the amount of traffic that was coming in the door that night and subsequently missed the mark. We really like this restaurant and were shocked by the level of service. Will we come back.... weren't not sure. But if we do, I'll have to redo my review.... read more

My wife and I, as well as the other couple we were with, were hungry after our 3 hour drive to Sequim for the Tour de Lavender bicycle ride. Unfortunately this establishment was expensive and the serving size inadequate. What cracked us up was all the elderly customers who were at the tables surrounding us seemed to have huge entrees before them. They were all leaving with to-go boxes. read more

I'm from California & am at the end of my winter vacation visiting family in Washington with my daughter. They like to take us to different places to eat so they took us to the Old Mill Cafe. I loved the rust look & charm of the place. The people were friendly but the service was slow & the waitress didn't know what was in the food on the menu. When asked if the Carlsborg combo came with cheese she said, "I think so". It did not. When we asked for four sides of ranch only three were brought & one of our Carlsborg combos was missing the avocado that we asked for to be added. As for the food well it had something to be desired. I got the Carlsborg Combo with roast beef on sourdough bread with clam chowder & onion rings. The onion rings were very hard as if they were over cooked & the side of ranch was watered down with milk. The Carlsborg sandwich like I mentioned earlier did not come with cheese which would have affected my choice in what I ordered. The bread didn't taste like sourdough bread & was soggy because they used too much what seemed to be runny mayonnaise or was it the juice from the very greasy & undercooked looking roast beef which had very little flavor to it. The sandwich was very boring & pretty dry tasting despite the fact that part of the bread in a spot was soggy. It didn't excite your taste buds at all. The best part of my meal was the clam chowder. It was very creamy with the right amount of thinkness. With enough potatoes & clams in each & every bite it left you wanting for more once the bowl was empty. If I had my choice to go back there again the next time I visit my family in Washington I would definitely have to say No! read more

We had dinner at The old Mill last thursday.it was for a friends birthday. The food was very good . Our waitress was friendly and helpful. Our only complaint was the music. All 4 of us were put off by the music playing in the background. It was not relaxing or pleasing to our dining experience.. I hope the manager pays attention to this review because it does make a difference to older local patrons. We are in the 50 to 85 bracket. read more

The food here is good (not great) while the service is awful. My wife and I stopped through on our way home from Neah Bay. What my wife really wanted was some soup. When she tried to order the soup du jour, she was told they were out of soup. Then, a group sat down next to us and ordered (and received) the exact same soup. The strangest thing is it was our same server. Weird. My wife went with the French dip instead of the soup. It was fine but pretty unremarkable. The bun was pretty good. I had the Kobe burger but was pretty disappointed. It was really no better than the average burger I cook on my barbecue. It was fine. It was juicy. The taste was no richer and the flavor was not notably any different than your typical store-bought ground beef. After we finished our meal, we had to go ask for the check after waiting several minutes. I was surprised that such a well-reviewed place had such poor service. There are a lot of very good reviews. It actually appalls me that there are negative reviews about this spot. When my boyfriend was trying to impress my Seattle palette with the Sequim area cuisine, he took me here for Sunday brunch, which we are religious about (except during football season, which is Saturday brunch instead). That was ages ago, and now I'm a Sequim resident, and we still come here every week for brunch. The waitresses know us, we order the same thing every time, and it's never been less than great. It's in a strange kitschy looking cafe with decor my grandmother would have mixed with tree logging memorabilia. The waitstaff is young and has always been pleasant with us, no matter whose section we get. Our food is always prepared perfectly and I've GOT to figure out how they make that damn hollandaise sauce, for real. You will wait around 30 minutes for food, no matter how full the place is. But it's always hot, and the menu states fresh made food takes time, so it's not like they don't warn you. You want fast crap food, you go somewhere else. You must try their Bloody Mary's, they are fantastic. I ask for extra spicy, and it rivals the best ones I've had. Their Eggs Benedict's are ridiculously good and that hollandaise I mentioned is epic and unlike any other. My personal fav is the Crab and Spinach Benedict. Fresh seafood every time. Worth the wait, worth the price by all means. We'll be back Sunday! read more

Family and I visited this while on vacation. At first when you pull up to the location it's kind of like not your typical eatery place but when you walk in it is very cozy and warm. The staff was super friendly and the service was great. We had a few of their entrees and they were served hot and the taste was a bit more than ok but not like phenomenal. I gave this place a 5 star because it was clean and even though they were short handed the attitude and friendliness they demonstrated would definitely bring me back there the next time I visit this charming little town! read more

First time visit this morning! We were seated straight away & our server was there at our table. I had the Harvest Moon which consisted of many veggies over a bed of home cooked potatoes with melted cheese & a side of toast. Hubby had the crab & shrimp cake benedict. Both the dishes were excellent! Food came hot as did the coffee. Definitely worth another trip to Carlsborg to try lunch one day. Today we went for lunch. The staff & service was great! After seeing the other reviews on here I decided to try them. They are clean and as other reviews say they look rustic. The service was a little slow but for me that added to the family style atmosphere. The server was friendly and kept my glass full. Food came in a reasonable amount of time. I got a cup of chili with cheese on top which came with garlic bread. I failed to take a picture of this but it was delicious. The chili was mild ( could have been spicier) but very flavorful. The garlic bread was perfectly seasoned and buttered. Very fresh and crisp without being tough. For the main course I got the elk burger and fries. The burger was a little bland after the chili and garlic bread but I lov d the fries. I'm not usually a fan of seasoned fries but these were fantastic. As the garlic bread they were perfectly spiced and crispy. I would recommend this place for lunch to anyone. I will be back to try the dinner menu. read more

Overall customer service is good. The fish I had was old, as I'm sure is was not fresh, but frozen and can cause food borne illness if it's fishy or older. ice cream is not the best quality, Hagan daz is supposedly Gluten free and the better of them.Most restaurants are in it for the big buck and overall customer service is not as it was 8 to 10 years ago. The customer was always rite to some degree in 70s to 80s.Now it's fading too. They say they use Clark's beef and it does not have much flavor and taste like mutton. read more

We have eaten here several times and usually enjoy ourselves my dish was the pancakes and eggs and they were fantastic but unfortunately my spouse had B&G combo and and the biscuits were so disappointing. I know we came in towards the end of breakfast right before lunch but that doesn't mean you should serve terrible biscuits. I feel that it is the server's responsibility that if they notice the main item on the dish not being eaten that there's a problem. They were very busy that day and understaff so I understand that part due to the pandemic and what we're all going through. It is how you take care of the customer you're the customer that can save you you and have them come back again. Asking us if there's anything else they could get for us I don't think was the way to handle that. I know nobody wants to give money off of something but also nobody wants to pay for a crappy biscuit. I felt like we were the ones that lost. read more
