Wonderful restaurant! We enjoy breakfast there frequently. They are very accommodating with special requests! I love their sausage links. My boyfriend loves their huevos rancheros but lately has been really enjoying their steak and eggs. His steak has been cooked perfectly rare every time he has ordered it. Owners and staff are top-notch. We always feel welcome and appreciated. We appreciate the loyalty program and that they support the kids via the football discount card. Stopped here for lunch. Had fish and chips. The place was 2/3 empty as we got there after the lunch rush and it was during the pandemic. It took almost 30 minutes to get our food. The fries were lukewarm. The coleslaw was meh. Saw the waitress groan loudly when we were being seated. The gal that seated us said our waitress would be right with us. It took 10 minutes before she came over. She didn't check on us. A sign that was almost 4' tall was plastered on the front door warning about eating out during the pandemic with how much of a fine the owners would get if not following it. For such a small community this little town never ceases to amaze me with their hospitality and surprisingly good finds. Mariner's Cafe is no exception! Located in the same shopping plaza as the JCPENNEY and some small businesses, they have the ideal corner location that gets just the right amount of morning light without being overbearing and some of the nicest people around manning the ship. It is a place where the locals come to support the business and do not tire of the many options both the breakfast and lunch/dinner menus have to offer. We stopped in after an appointment in town and were delighted to have a delicious meal. It was the first time we've had breakfast outside of the home in 7 months. It felt really nice and safe - all of the tables inside were more than 6 ft apart and all employees were masked as were patrons, when moving about the place or eating. I had the veggie scramble with blueberry pancakes and fresh baked apple raspberry rhubarb pie (made sugar-free! And every bit as delicious as the real thing!) I was thoroughly impressed and look forward to checking back in the future to see what other pies they have! read more

I didn't want to come back here because of past experiences, but I had to go to a group meeting, and it was at Mariner's. It was a breakfast meeting, so I decided to try their Country Fried Steak breakfast. It was great, a generous sized breakfast with hash browns, eggs and choice of toast, biscuit or muffin. Okay, I don't have much time to write but just had to for this place. We were driving down the road and saw their sign and needed some breakfast. Wow! It was a weekday and we self sat in a booth. Our server came over two glasses of water and hand- coffee was ordered and to our table in minutes:) I ordered over easy eggs, bacon and biscuits and gravy. So delicious! Food is decent and service was good. Prices are in line with the Sequim over charging scene in the town. Plenty of bacon on the plate and hashbrowns were done well. Mariners is a must! They have sweet potato fries, that melt in your mouth. Marie, makes the best pies, try the raspberry rhubarb. The other half, enjoys the captains platter. While searching today for some good seafood for lunch, we happened upon Mariners Cafe. We ordered a shrimp basket and a plate of fish and chips. The food was mediocre at best. The shrimp were greasy and the fries were tasteless. The fish and chips were forgettable. The server was scrambling to take care of her tables. We had to go to the register and ask for silverware. We are here on Sunday. They have signs on the tables comparing staff to the quartet that played while the Titanic went down. Time to do some spring cleaning now that masks are gone... At a point you have to quit letting people sit where you won't wait on them. I get it, if it's hard to hire, sit people accordingly. This guy finally comes back out with more coffee, and asks, "anything else?" And I had to point out we'd been there for 35 minutes. It wasn't crowded at all. Found this restaurant when we asked around for seafood. While they do have seafood selections, they also had a variety of other choices on the menu. I ordered lemon pepper cod. It came with a potato selection and soup or salad. I opted for a salad and baked potato. The cod was fresh and was quite tasty. Service was excellent and everyone was very friendly. Excellent service at this locally owned restaurant! We live near by and have had such disappointing meals at area restaurants post covid but The Mariner Cafe has that small town consistency of great food and great service. I keep missing Spaghetti Tuesdays, but I'll get there. Haven't had it for a few years. The fish and chips are really unmatched and the cole slaw better than most fine restaurants, fries are just what you hope for. We also had the club and burger and excellent! We're SO glad we ended up here! We were seated on the patio where there are tall heaters to generally heat plus heaters under the table. It was a chilly day, but we were toasty. Marie made us Baileys and coffee so we got warmed up pretty fast. The food was CRAZY good! I had the largest cobb salad I've ever seen, generously decorated with all the reasons you order a cobb. My husband had a roast beef dinner. Each item was obviously fresh and delicious- the clam chowder was proclaimed "the best in years." Marie was wonderful is so many ways- part great host and waitress. part great neighbor and area ambassador. She answered questions about the area. She was friendly without being intrusive and seemed to take pride in the place, food, and co-workers. We're discovering Sequim and this is one of our favorite places. Ordered the large halibut and chips When the Chef came out from the kitchen I was excited because he wore the garb of a man busy cutting fresh fish out back. He wore the Red chest-high rubber apron seen in fish markets. Once the fish arrived (3 of 4 of ordered the halibut) we saw it was nothing more than the grocery store breaded processed fish. Could have been surami for all we knew. Service was friendly but for the price fish was way underwhelming. We will not be back. read more

This place is one of the better restaurants in Sequim.. They are known for their seafood and their burgers. I ordered the seafood platter which came with 4 pieces of fried shrimp, 2 pieces of fried beer battered cod, fries, coleslaw, and two pieces of garlic bread with a side of tartar sauce as well as ketchup and vinegar. My friend ordered the French dip plate which came with a roast beef sandwich some au jus and a side of fries. The seafood platter shrimp was is a bit overcooked. The fries are on the bigger side like JoJo's. So it wasn't crispy. Of the beer battered cod looked like football but was the best part of the dish because it was crispy and moist on the inside. The cole slaw tasted just like coleslaw I could get at any fast food place. Garlic bread was crunchy but had a garlic powder butter flavor taste. The customer service was very good. They even gave a pitcher of water to my friend and me which we completely finished. My friend was fine with the french dip. I didn't get to try any of hers. read more

Unfortunately there is no love in food preparation nor presentation at this diner. The service is adequate, the restrooms are clean, but the food is a C at best. We paid $38 including tip for two ice teas, not refillable mind you at $3.25 each and two patty melts. One patty melt we had steak fries the other we opted for clam chowder as the side. The steak fries were the best part of this meal. When asked how the clam chowder was the server said, "We serve it everyday; people order it." Not a glowing recommendation. I was asked if I wanted it served with the meal, I said, "Yes." and it wasn't. A different server presented our meal and had to run back and get the missing chowder. Forgivable for sure. The chowder had potatoes and clams in a gravy like paste. It was hot, but bland and with that recommendation it was what I expected. Let's talk about the patty melts. They had all the right parts, this diner not opting to add thousand island dressing. They were hot, but the marble rye was a bit on the soggy side and the patties did not have the crusty chew of a patty from a hot grill. It was the right color but not diner perfection one expects when ordering a patty melt at a diner. It seemed as if the patties might have been pre-cooked and reheated but it could be they suffered from the grill not being the right temperature. Something was definitely missing and this was not a sandwich that I would beg to come back to. The patty melts were served on rather large platters which dwarfed the sandwiches that were cut down the middle instead of in the classic diagonal. Each half was topped with a toothpick stabbed through a black olive which was an attempt at adding a special touch but the toothpick served no purpose since the contents of the sandwich were firmly pressed between the bread slices with no chance of escaping. These were not ample patty melts, there was just enough onion to say this is a patty melt but not enough to elevate this sandwich. The sandwich with the steak fries was a bit overwhelmed by the fries, because they were as wide as a man's thumb, but there were not enough fries that you could not count them easily. We are not talking any kind of abundant thinking here. The sandwich ordered with the chowder was lonely on it's massive platter sans chowder, with only two pickle slices which when added to the sandwich rendered exactly two bites with pickle. This restaurant will not be our first choice for a return visit, however there were many diners and this business does support local businesses with a paper placemat with local ads. Locals seem to like it and the restaurant has all you can eat fish & chips and a prime rib dinner which may be better fare. read more

The atmosphere is very family friendly and old fashioned. Bring your senior discount card - it seems like it's popular with the older folks... This was the first time I ate there. I had the cod with the popcorn shrimp. It was delicious! Our waitress was nice and as we were eating the place filled up. The whole staff that was there that night worked well as a team, taking care of everyone. We had their home made pie for dessert, and it was delicious! Went out for a early dinner was able to finally eat at a restaurant in the outdoor dining area. Heaters to keep you warm and separated from the other customers. Was so nice to get hot food had a Blt and my husband had the Philly cheese steak everything was fantastic. Enjoyed the whole experience. Will be going back very soon. read more
