First time here. Best ruben I've ever had. Well stacked sandwich with plenty of pastrami and fixings. Coffees were excellent with no bitterness. So disappointed in the clam chowder at Lighthouse Cafe. For years, it has been the best around--on the peninsula and beyond--but I brought a friend there yesterday to enjoy a bowl and it was ordinary at best. The waitress said the recipe was modified recently to accommodate a change in the type of potato used. The accommodations took the chowder went from one that I literally dreamed about to one with way too many potatoes, not enough clams and an unremarkable flavor. On the bright side, it opens up the Port Townsend lunch possibilities because in the past, I only wanted to go there. read more

Went here with my boyfriend two days ago. The cafe had Excellent Atmosphere mixed with great drinks, good vibes, and delicious food. The Service was excellent. My boyfriend and I stopped here for breakfast on the go after staying in a hotel across the street. We ordered a breakfast sandwich and sat waiting over 15 minutes to get it. There were 2 cooks and a cashier and only 2 tables in the restaurant so we were unsure why it took so long. Anyway, fast forward to being handed the sandwich. We got out to our car and started driving home. My boyfriend unwrapped his sandwich down the road to find that it had been completely burned. I cannot believe they served this with a good conscious. You can see from the photo that it is obviously black and burned. We were already miles down the road and therefore did not turn around. We ended up throwing the 6.00 sandwich (plus tip) in the garbage. It's ok to make a mistake. It's ok to say, "sorry for the wait already, but we burned your sandwich and need to make another". It is NOT OK to serve something that is inedible and pretend like you didn't. Horrible customer service. We won't be back next time we visit Port Townsend. read more

Very cool place. I've been coming here for decade, but under the new ownership it's very different. Decent sandwich shop. Polite staff. Eclectic atmosphere. A bit pricey and I'm not sure why they want a tip. You order at the counter and bus your own table. I'd reduce the amount of potatoes in the clam chowder by about 1/2. Perhaps a shirt that covers the sandwich makers belly button would be appropriate too. read more

Almost every time I've walked near it just reeks of rotting cheese or stomach bile that makes me want to get as far from this place as possible. We were very pleased with our first visit here in many years. Customers order their food at the counter, and bus their own table, which we don't mind at all. The staff were friendly and helpful. My husband had a chicken Caesar salad and I had the Italian sandwich, which came with a salad. The Caesar salad had large chunks of chicken and my sandwich was hot and grilled perfectly. Our lunch came quickly, was nicely prepared and delicious. With two glasses of wine, our bill came to $62, and we put a cash tip in the tip jar. We will be back. read more

We had the artichoke sandwich (think it was a special) and it was really, really good. Came on a nicely oiled, toasted ciabatta with a lemony sauce and roasted tomatoes, came with side salad. For sweet, we had the berry strata, which I will never forget. Seriously one of the best desserts I've ever had. Wow! I ordered the artichoke sandwich and it was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had! It also came with a delicious arugula salad. My husband had the Italian sandwich that was also excellent. My husband and I live in AZ and come to the Pacific Northwest each summer to enjoy the gorgeous scenery and cool temps. We are so grateful to have discovered the Lighthouse Cafe. This place was incredible. We had the biscuit with mushroom gravy and truffle oil. It was so good. The scone was light and airy and the gravy was so tasty and perfectly seasoned. We also had the lemon pound cake with lemon curd which was perfectly tart yet airy as well. My partner had the coffee cake. It was tasty and not dense at all. Been twice now and honestly it's just too expensive for meh food and coffee. The salmon and mushroom sandwich were bland and the salmon was not a sandwich. It's open faced and better classified as salmon toast. A second visit had an espresso and it was a little burnt for my taste. The side to the sandwiches was just arugula with balsamic and one cherry tomato cut in half. So food for Two people with out drinks $44. For two bleh "sandwiches" and some arugula.
